//------------------------------// // Prologue // Story: The Troubled Misfortunes Of Dr. Calamity Twister // by TheAuthorVisitsEquestria //------------------------------// Stubbs, a blue speckled dragon assistant to Dr. Calamity Twister, was sitting on bench in Ponyville drinking a cup of coffee. It was a nice day. Flutterfly was leading the birds in chorus, Applejack was selling her apples, Pinkie Pie was delivering her cupcakes, Rarity ran past looking frantic with a lot of material for clothing, and Rainbow Dash sleeping on a cloud above. Indeed, everypony was quite happy, especially because Princess Twilight had just been appointed the throne of Princess Celestia and Luna's castle. The magic of friendship was ever flourishing throughout all the land. Stubbs finished his cup of coffee and stood up yawning having had no sleep the night before. For last eight days, Dr. Calamity had been working on something, he said was his greatest scientific experiment yet. This worried Stubbs somewhat, as this wasn't the first time Dr. Calamity said that statement, and...it never ended well. The last three "experiments" were complete and total disasters. In the last month, Dr. Calamity had managed to set fire to a local earth ponies village, cause a weather experiment that sent over fifty pegasus and unicorn ponies to the hospital, and he accidently collapsed one of the oldest diamond mines in all of Equestria. Each time, in the name of "science". "I really should have listened to my mother," Stubbs thought to himself, "I could have been better off living in dragon country, instead being the assistant to the one royal scientist in Equestria who can't even make breakfast without it blowing up in his face." With a sudden burp, a flash of blue fire, a piece of parchment was floating in the air. Stubbs quickly snatched up the paper and realized it bared the royal crest. This was a letter from Princess Twilight herself. ...it read the following: Dear Dr. Calamity, I would like you come to my throne room, immediately. As I have been reviewing your work, I have a lot of concerns that need explanation. Please come as soon as you read this letter, this cannot wait. Your's sincerely, Princess Twilight Sparkle. "GOODNESS, GRACIOUS!" Stubbs exclaimed shocked as nearby earth ponies looked over at him curiously, "It's a royal summons!" Stubbs took flight and flew as fast as he could, accidently knocking Rainbow Dash off her cloud and crashing to the ground beneath. "SORRY!" Stubbs yelled back but not stopping. "Hey, watch where your flying next time!" Rainbow Dash snapped back. Racing back to Dr. Calamity's house about a mile outside of Ponyville, Stubbs landed with a thud and raced up to the front door. The door was locked. "Dr. Calamity? Please, you've got to let me in! This is urgent, sir!" Stubbs said, but there was no sign of life inside and no response, "Please, sir! Princess Twilight has summoned you to the Castle, she sent you a letter!" KABOOM! Stubbs was blasted backwards as all the windows in the house exploded and the roof erupted in flames. Coughing and sputtering, out of house walked Dr. Calamity Twister limping, coughing and sputtering. "SIR! THE HOUSE! WHAT HAPPENED?" Stubbs said stumbling around dazed to standing back up. "Just...leave it. Don't talk to me about the house, Stubbs. Now, what was all that bellowing from you I heard earlier? Something about a summons, I believe?" Dr. Calamity asked sounding very sour. "Oh, yes, the letter from Princess Twilight," Stubbs said as he handed the letter off to Dr. Calamity. "Concerns? My work is top notch! Has been for forty years in Equestria. What is she talking about, concerns?" "I have no idea sir, but it's not a good thing to keep a princess waiting. You had better go." "Yes, I guess I had better. Stubbs...find someway to fix the house and put out the fire before I return. There is still much work to be done in the name of science!" Dr. Calamity said as he used his unicorn magic to teleport away. "Oh yes, that's just perfect. Let me rebuild your entire house, Dr. Calamity, that you blew up. I mean, surely I can have it done in an hour, right?" Stubbs grumbled sarcastically to himself, "I bet you anything, Spike never had to deal with this sort of thing from Princess Twilight."
