Sunset Shimmer’s Journey Through Kalos

by Brian Sheil

Into the Sanctuary

With all eight badges in her possession, Sunset Shimmer is now qualified to take on the Pokémon League. Defeat the League, and she'll have a chance to battle the Kalos Region champion. But first, she and her friends are challenged by an Ace Trainer with blond hair. He has a large orange mouse that looks like Pikachu. As Sunset's Lairon stands by for battle, she takes out her Pokédex to learn of this Pokémon.
Raichu, the Mouse Pokémon and the evolved form of Pikachu. The Pokédex said. It has enough electricity to topple a Pokémon bigger than itself.
"Raichu," The Ace Trainer said, " use Thunderbolt!"
Raichu unleashed an electrical attack on Lairon. Being a steel type, however, Lairon is not affected that much. Sunset soon made her counterattack. "Go for it, Lairon! Iron Head!"
With its head glowing, Lairon charged into Raichu. It made contact, and Raichu was out cold. The trainer was surprised, and recalled Raichu.
"Now, I know why you have eight gym badges." The Ace Trainer said as he shook Sunset’s hand with honor. "Good luck against the Pokémon League."
Sunset recalls Lairon as her partners congratulated her.
"You're on a roll." Sunny cheered.
"Keep up the good work." Izzy added.
Just then, they heard another person clapping for Sunset. It was none other than Starlight Glimmer.
"Great battle, Sunset." Starlight cheered.
"Starlight!" Sunset gasped. "What a nice surprise."
The two girls hugged each other happily.

INTO THE SANCTUARY

Starlight leads the girls down Route 21 until they reached a white one story building.
"This is the sanctuary?" Sunny asked. "It looks kind of small."
"Size isn't always everything, Sunny Starscout." Starlight explained. "This building leads to an amazing outdoors area. That's where all the Pokémon are being treated."
They enter the building, and Sunset saw a light gray skinned girl with blond hair. She wore a teal polo shirt, blue skirt, and white sneakers. Her noticeable features are her wobbly eyes.
"Hey! Derpy Hooves!" Sunset called out.
The girl looked at Sunset, and was happily surprised. "Sunset Shimmer. It's been a while."
"So, you work here too. Huh?"
"I sure do. Starlight told me about this Sanctuary. I like seeing healthy Pokémon. So, I signed up here too."
Dr. Fauna came in, wondering what the chatter is about. "Derpy, who are you talking to?"
"Just an old friend of mine." Derpy replied.
The doctor soon spotted Sunset. "Welcome to the Pokémon Sanctuary, Sunset Shimmer. We meet in person at last."
"A pleasure to be here, Doctor." Sunset replied. "I've been looking forward to being here since I won my 8th badge."
Fauna soon approached Sunset's friends. "Hello, Sunny Starscout. Hello, Izzy Moonbow."
"You know who we are?" Izzy asked.
"Yes. Sunset has been telling me and Starlight about you two throughout her whole journey."
"So, would you girls like to see the core of our little operation?" Starlight asked.
"Lead the way, Starlight." Sunset replied.
As the girls toured the building, Sunset sees a yellow cat like creature with pointed hair treated by another worker. She decided to check out this creature.
Jolteon, the Lightning Pokémon and an evolved form of Eevee. Said the Pokédex. When Jolteon gets mad, it's hair turns into needles. And, fires them at an enemy.
"Okay," Sunset said. "That makes it three evolved forms of Eevee I saw."
The girls were taken outside, and were shocked at what they saw. Pokémon in trees, flying in the sky, swimming in the water, and lounging about on the ground.
"Ladies," Starlight announced, "this is the main part of our Pokémon Sanctuary."

Pokémon Quiz

Hello, there. Sunset Shimmer here. Which Pokémon comes in different colors depending on the nectar they drink?

The group of friends look around the sanctuary with Starlight as their guide.
"After graduation, Dr. Fauna told me about a sanctuary being built along Route 21." Starlight explained. "I was on board immediately. This area is perfect for Pokémon to recover until they're released in the wild, or their trainers pick them up in case they're too hurt for a regular Pokémon Center."
Sunset soon saw two of her Pokémon sparring with each other. They are Lucario and Toxicroak. She couldn't help but smile seeing these Pokémon are getting along with each other.
"Happy seeing two of your Pokémon, Sunset?" Starlight asked.
"I sure am." Sunset replied.
Soon, they saw a small creature with a long nose lifting a square shaped log.
"It's a Timburr." Sunset said as she pulls out her Pokédex. "The Muscular Pokémon."
Timburr, the Muscular Pokédex The Pokédex said. These Pokémon lift heavy logs to build up its muscles.
Izzy walked up to it. Timburr got startled and ran off.
"Sorry, Izzy." Starlight said. "That Timburr was abused by a despicable trainer. He's a little shy around people."
"That's a shame." Izzy replied sadly. "If that Timburr was my Pokémon, I wouldn't hurt it."
Poking it's head out, Timburr looked at Izzy with interest. Sunset saw a yellowish green cat like creature with a few leaves on its body.
Her Pokédex comes alive. Leafeon, the Verdant Pokémon and an evolved form of Eevee. It receives energy from sunlight so it doesn't need much food.
"Checking out Pokémon with your Pokédex, Sunset?" Starlight asked.
"I have to learn about any Pokémon I'm not familiar with, you know." Sunset replied .
Starlight chuckled, knowing that her friend is right. "Anyway, I'm glad you and your friends are staying with us here while you train to battle the Pokémon League."
Just then, the girls see Timburr walk cautiously toward them. He soon gets close to Izzy.
"I think Timburr likes you, Izzy." Sunny said.
"Really?" Izzy gasped."
Starlight had an idea. "Maybe that Timburr wants to be with you."
"Is that true, Timburr?" Izzy asked. "You want to be with me?"
Timburr nodded 'yes'. Izzy soon took out an empty Poké Ball. "Welcome to my family."
She tapped Timburr with the Poké Ball, and he got absorbed by it.
"Now, YOU have a complete belt." Sunset said.
"You mean she has six Pokémon?" Starlight asked.
"Yep. Her other Pokémon are Greninja, Charizard, Kirlia, Lapras, and Beedrill."
"That's a nice variety."
Now that Sunset and her friends are staying at the Pokémon Sanctuary for two months, the former bully is now ready to train for her battles against the Pokémon League.
