Turquoise was on the bow of the ferry as it was approaching the Valor Lakefront. Suddenly Turquoise saw Rarity and Applejack at the dock waiting for her and Fluttershy.

“Ahoy there,” Turquoise shouted which got their attention.

“Turquoise darling so good to see you,” Rarity shouted. As soon as the ferry arrived and the passengers disembarked the girls decided to see what the Valor Lakefront had to offer. “So tell us about your journey.

“Well Selina is back and also helping me through this rut I’m having,” Turquoise said. “I also met some new coordinators who are quite skilled.

“How are your gym battles going?” Applejack asked.

“So far I have five gym badges and hopefully after the Wallace Cup is over Jasmine returns to Olivine City so I can earn my sixth one,” Turquoise said.

“Another reason why we came here is that we were told Jasmine was competing as well,” Fluttershy said.

“She is but finding her is impossible,” Rarity said.

“But enough about me tell us about your journey,” Turquoise said.

“Same as yours, I encountered some tough opponents too including a few veterans from Dawn’s journey,” Rarity said.

“May we see the pokemon you caught so far?” Applejack asked.

“Sure, come on out everyone,” Turquoise said as she called out all five of her Pokemon.

“You two come out as well,” Fluttershy said as she called out her two pokemon. Applejack was impressed by how Turquoise’s Eevee evolved into an Umbreon. As for Rarity, she was impressed with all of her pokemon until she saw Vespiquen.

“Gah! keep that thing away from me,” Rarity shouted while backing away scared.

“Relax Rarity Vespiquen is harmless,” Turquoise said assuringly.

“Easy for you to say,” Rarity said.

“Please forgive Rares, Ever since we got roped into helping someone find some legendary honey she has had this fear of Vespiquen,” Applejack said.

“You're not the only ones, we had to help Bugsy do the same to get my gym battle for my Hive Badge,” Turquoise said.

“But did you have to catch one of them?” Rarity asked.

“Force of habit but I was lucky to catch a female Combee,” Turquoise said.

“Anyway, what do you girls want to do?” Applejack asked.

“Do you think we can find where Jasmine is?” Turquoise asked.

“We can try but the Wallace Cup is in two days,” Rarity said. And so the girls looked around the area until their search brought them to a beach outside the Resort where Jasmine and her Steelix were relaxing. As soon as the girls approached Jasmine was surprised.

“Ah Turquoise long time no see,” Jasmine said.

“How have you been?” Turquoise asked.

“I been good, how about you?” Jasmine asked.

“Contest wise not so good,” Turquoise said.

“What happened?” Jasmine asked.

“I failed to reach the second stage of my last contest and the other two I was in ended with me in eighth place for the appeals stage,” Turquoise said.

“May I see your team?” Jasmine asked before Turquoise called them all out. After seeing them Jasmine gave her opinion. “I can tell these new pokemon of yours are good but what about the rest of your pokemon? Where are they?

“I left them back at Professor Oak’s Lab because I wanted to do what Ash did and start this journey with just my partner Espeon,” Turquoise said.

“Now I see why you keep failing,” Jasmine said before continuing. “Your focus is on trying to work on something new which is not getting you very far, Have you thought about using what you already know with the pokemon that won you the Kanto Grand Festival?

“I have but then I realized what if I end up in a position where I am forced to release them,” Turquoise said.

“I know how you feel letting go of the pokemon you bonded with for so long is never easy but sometimes the greater good is more important than friendship,” Jasmine said.

“I know but it also means I will never see them again,” Turquoise said.

“Friends come and go but the bond they share will last a lifetime,” Jasmine said.

“She is right you know,” A familiar male voice said which was revealed to Ash.

“Ash, what are you doing here?” Turquoise asked.

“Serena and I decided to go on vacation since even Gym Leaders need a break every once in a while,” Ash said. “But back to the conversation I know how you feel but let me tell you a story about the first Pokemon I had to release. Ash told them the story about how during his first journey he and his two companions came across a migration of Butterfree that were off to mate and Ash’s Butterfree wanted to go. He told them about how he tried to win over the shiny one and after succeeding he let go of him and that he still holds the memories of their brief time together. “And one day we will see each other again and who knows maybe his mate will come too.

“Do you see what Ash is getting at?” Jasmine asked.

“I think I do,” Turquoise said.

“Let’s say you come across a bunch of Male Combee with no queen and your Vespiquen had to fill the role would you release her for the greater good or selfishly cling to her?” Jasmine asked.

“I guess I would have to let go of her since I would have no choice in the matter,” Turquoise said.

“See every trainer must make that kind of decision now and then,” Jasmine said.

“Very well I’ll use my other pokemon,” Turquoise said. Just when she said that a bunch of people started running away from what looked like a shark fin in the sand which got the girl’s attention. Turquoise decided to try and draw the creature to the surface. “Espeon use Psychic on that fin. Espeon used her Psychic to pull the creature out of the ground and the creature was a small blue shark-like creature with a big mouth. “What pokemon is that? Turquoise pulled out her Pokedex as per usual when seeing new Pokemon.

“Gible, The Land Shark Pokemon, It once lived in the tropics. To avoid the cold, it lives in caves warmed by geothermal heat,” The Pokedex said. Gible suddenly unleashed a breath of blue fire which Turquoise recognized as dragon breath. This meant Gible wanted to battle which started as soon as Gible broke free from Psychic.

“Espeon use Swift. Espeon unleashed her Swift which started the battle. Gible took a good amount of damage but did not yield and instead retaliate with Sand Tomb which encased Espeon and was much stronger thanks to the fact they were battling on the beach. Espeon use Psychic and send it back. Espeon managed to use Psychic to control the sand and managed to encase Gible in it. “Now go Pokeball. Turquoise threw a Pokeball at Gible which contained it upon contact. After a few shakes, the ball clicked indicating a successful capture.

“Looks like I just caught a Gible,” Turquoise said joyfully.

“Do you plan to use it in the Wallace Cup?” Rarity asked as Turquoise scanned Gible’s Pokeball to see what moves it had.

“I wish I could but Gible doesn't have much I can work with right now,” Turquoise said.

“In any case, let's return to the Pokemon Center for now,” Applejack said.

“Good idea I have a phone call to make,” Turquoise said.

“See you, girls, at the Wallace Cup,” Jasmine said before the girls left. As soon as the girls returned to the Pokemon center Turquoise went straight to the vidphone to call Professor Oak. A few seconds later he picked up.

“Ah Turquoise it's so good to hear from you, where are you calling from?” Professor Oak asked.

“The Valor Lakefront,” Turquoise said.

“In the Sinnoh Region? I thought you were entering the Johto League?” he asked.

“I am but I'm entering the Wallace Cup for the Grand Festival and I need to make a change to my team to stand a chance,” She said.

“Ok who should I send over?” he asked.

“My Ninetails, Altaria, and Milotic,” She said.

“Good choices for a contest but since you now have six pokemon you will need to exchange three of them,” He said. “So who are you sending over?

“My Meganium, Hunchkrow, and Vespiquen,” She said. Turquoise and Professor oak began the exchange and a minute later it was done. “All three made it on my end.

“And all three made it on my side too,” He said before hanging up. After finishing her call Turquoise joined the others.

“So who did you bring?” Fluttershy asked.

“See for yourself,” Turquoise said before calling out Ninetails’ Altaria, and Milotic. Fluttershy was very happy to see Ninetails.

“Good to see you again Ninetails,” Fluttershy said before Ninetails rubbed up against Fluttershy affectionately.

“Is there a reason why Ninetails is loving on Fluttershy?” Applejack asked.

“Must be because she remembers her from back when she was just a Vulpix,” Turquoise said.

“In any case, let's do some training darling since I know you're going to need it if you're going to get your momentum back so to say,” Rarity said. And so Turquoise and Rarity got to work on their training for the next two days while also taking time to enjoy everything else the Valor Lakefront had to offer.





It was the day of the Wallace Cup and both Turquoise and rarity were all dressed and ready to begin. Turquoise was feeling very nervous since this was going to be more challenging than a normal contest. Suddenly the screen in the waiting room turned on and a woman who looked like the previous two MCs Turquoise met but in a different outfit appeared on the screen.

“Welcome everyone to this year’s Wallace Cup, I am your host Marion,” Marion said in the same manner as the other MCs. “And now let’s introduce the judges for this contest, First up from the Pokemon Activities Committee Mr. Contesta.

“A pleasure to be here for this special event,” Contesta said.

“Next up is the head of the pokemon fan Club Mr.Sukizo,” Marion said while referring to Mr. Sukizo

“Remarkable,” Sukizo said.

“Next up Valor Lakefront’s own Nurse joy,” Marion said while referring to Nurse Joy.

“Always good to be here,” Nurse Joy said.

“And finally the organizer of this event Wallace,” Marion said while referring to a well-dressed man with an outfit that consisted of whites and seafoam with a slash of purple.

“I’m looking forward to what these coordinators bring to this contest,” Wallace said.

“And now let the Wallace Cup begin,” Marion said. Many skilled coordinators took the stage one by one each bringing their A-game for this contest. After the last contestant finished their turn it was Rarity’s turn. “And now taking the stage from Canterlot City in the Equestria Region is Rarity. Rarity walked onto the stage with the same amount of grace she always showed.

“Lumineon take the stage, “Rarity said while doing an elegant spin and sending her Pokeball upward. The ball popped open and unleashed a bunch of blue bubbles that had a big deep blue fish with light blue accents that had fins that looked like the wings of a butterfly. The fish landed in the pool on the stage which was set up for this contest.

“What kind of pokemon is that?” Turquoise asked before pulling out her Pokedex.

“Lumineon, The Neon Pokemon. It lives on the deep-sea floor. It attracts prey by flashing patterns on its four fins,” The Pokedex said.

“Lumineon let's start with Attract. Lumineon suddenly winked before sending a single pink heart into the air. “Now use Aqua Ring. Lumineon then encased the heart with her Aqua Ring which got the crowd invested in what Rarity was planning to do with it. Now finish up with Water pulse, Lumineon leaped high out of the water before hitting the Attract/Aqua ring combo with Water Pulse which caused it to disperse into many heart-shaped bubbles that surrounded Lumineon as she splashed down into the pool.

“Now that was a very captivating performance,” Marion said before turning it over to the judges.

“A truly amazing way to show off Lumineon,” Contesta said.

“Very remarkable,” Sukizo said.

“It was like they were completely in sync,” Nurse joy said.

“A very dazzling and breathtaking way to demonstrate the grace of a Water-type, well done,” Wallace said. Rarity returned backstage and noticed how Turquoise was beginning to feel nervous after seeing her performance.

“Relax darling you're going to do great I just know it,” Rarity said. It was now Jasmine’s turn and she went with her partner Steelix. The two of them were working in complete sync with each other while winning the crowd over. As soon as she finished she returned backstage and focused on the screen to see turquoise in action.

“And now our next contestant from Pallet Town in the Kanto region is Turquoise,” Marion said as Turquoise took the stage feeling confident.

“Milotic let's dazzle them,” Turquoise said as she threw her Pokeball which popped open and unleashed a bunch of pink bubbles which surrounded milotic before bursting and giving Milotic some luster before she landed in the pool making a splash that later became a light mist. “Let's start things off with Twister from under the water. Milotic unleashed her twister from beneath the water which resulted in a giant tornado of water. “Now use Ice Beam on the tornado. Milotic unleashed her Ice Beam on the water tornado which froze it and the pool. Now use breaking Swipe while spinning. Milotic unleashed her breaking swipe on the ice which resulted in crushing it and creating a bunch of sparkling ice crystals. “Now Wrap this up with another Twister. Milotic used Twister to gather the ice crystals to create a diamond dust cyclone that looked dazzling and alluring as the diamond dust rained down on Milotic adding more shine to her.

“Now that was an impressive display,” Marion said before the judges gave their critique on it.

“I have seen many coordinators use Milotic in contests but that was a very unique and creative way to use one,” Contesta said.

“Very remarkable,” Sukizo said.

“It was like watching an artist at work,” Nurse Joy said.

“I could see the compassion and love Turquoise and Milotic put into their performance along with some renewed confidence,” Wallace said. As soon as Turquoise returned backstage rarity was waiting for her.

“That was a very dazzling display darling, especially with those new moves you taught Milotic,” Rarity said.

“We were lucky they had a move tutor here,” Turquoise said before adding the fact she picked up theTR for Ice Beam back in Goldenrod City. Sometime later Marion appeared on the screen to announce the sixteen coordinators moving on to the battle stage.

“Sorry for the wait folks so without further ado here are the sixteen coordinators moving on to the second round,” Marion said before disappearing and being replaced with a black screen that began displaying profile pics. Turquoise crossed her fingers hoping she made the cut this time. The profile pics appeared one by one with Jasmine in first, Rarity in second, and Turquoise in third which took her by surprise.

“I did it I made the cut,” Turquoise said happily.

“That you did darling and it was all thanks to that new performance you did with Milotic,” Rarity said. And so Turquoise made it to the second round and was regaining confidence in her abilities again but can it take her all the way find out next time as the journey continues.
