//------------------------------// // This is the only Chapter // Story: Glimmer of Light // by Richard79 //------------------------------// Glimmer of Light “Can I talk to you alone for a few minutes?” Starlight Glimmer asked as the two of them entered Friendship Castle where the other elements of harmony were already gathered in the table room, along with Spike. Awaiting Princess Twilight's ruling over Starlight glimmer. “Of course Starlight.” Princess Twilight Replied. “Look, at the village, I was in, yes there were other ponies there…but no real true friends. Of course, I was angry at you at first that’s not a big secret…” Starlight Glimmer trailed off for a second and glanced up at the Princess of Friendship. “I don’t get it Starlight. What are you getting at? By how you’re talking it’s like you’ve got something buried deep down that’s been nagging at you for a while now.” Princess Twilight said and then noticed the smile forming on Starlight’s face. She could feel her own heart starting to beat a bit faster. Starlight blew out a long breath and looked back at her cutie mark. Images flashed of it being the exact same one that everypony in that village had to wear because of her. “It’s a feeling I’ve kept hidden ever since you showed me that overwhelming amount of compassion after I nearly ruined your future with Star Swirl’s time travel spell. I haven’t been able to get that out of my head.” I know I’m babbling, but it’ll come out at some point. Is it why I started this conversation? “What...feeling…” Princess Twilight said she could hear the rise in pitch in Starlight’s voice. I know we’re close friends...but… She mentally shook her head. No…it’s too silly to imagine. We’re just friends…are we closer… “I…can’t…it…” Starlight turned away from her. “Will…ruin…” Her voice trailed off. “How in Equestria can a feeling ruin a friendship?” Princess Twilight asked walking up beside her. “Feelings are what friendships are based on I would know.” She lowered her voice to a whisper. “What is it?” “Princess Twilight…it’s a deeper feeling.” Starlight said in a near whisper. She happened to glance up and realized that Princess Twilight had heard her. “I…mean…” “A deeper feeling for who?” Princess Twilight noticed the tears in Starlight’s eyes as she looked at her, a redness formed on her cheeks then her whole face turned a shade of crimson. Twilight's mouth started to open. “You are so powerful, beautiful, and compassionate. You’re just amazing. Please don’t hate me, Princess Twilight.” She blurted out even through her blurry vision she could see Princess Twilight hanging on her every word. Princess Twilight’s jaw dropped open further at the heartfelt confession from Starlight. “Hold on…you…like me…like me?” This is crazy…right? Look at what all we’ve been through; how close we’ve gotten in such a short time. Twilight put her hoof on her chest, and she could feel her heart beating faster. “Princess Twilight, please don’t hate me…” Starlight repeated. “I’m not doing this to sway your decision on how to handle what I’ve done. I know you’ll be fair, honest, and true.” She felt the tears rolling down her cheeks. Princess Twilight reached up and dabbed a tear off her cheek with her hoof. “How could I hate someone I’ve been close to for a while now.” Princess Twilight admitted and reached out to hug Starlight and that embrace brought the tears out in Starlight. Starlight returned the hug and cried until she couldn’t cry anymore. “I’m sorry.” Sniffing she lifted her head. “Close to?” She asked sniffing back tears. “As in…” “Don’t be sorry Starlight.” Princess Twilight cleared her throat and added. “As in, you’ve got more magic and heart that even I do Starlight. You’re not afraid to show your emotions or feelings, even towards me.” Starlight pulled back a bit so she could look at Princess Twilight in her face. “I was afraid Princess Twilight, so afraid to let this feeling out. I was afraid of how it might affect our friendship. How the others would feel if they knew.” She tilted her head forward and blew out a breath, then felt her head hurt, opening her eyes she saw Princess Twilight rubbing her head. “Oh…sorry. I didn’t mean to-” Her voice froze when she heard a genuine laugh coming from Princess Twilight. That only made Starlight smile even more. Princess Twilight shook her head to clear out the stars dancing in her eyes. “I definitely do want to get to know more about you, your magic, and you as a pony. If you’ll let me.” Starlight’s eyes widened. “Sure I will Princess Twilight.” “This is definitely something new for me.” Princess Twilight admitted. Here I thought I’d end up with a stallion. “Same here, there was just something about you that drew me to you, in a way I’m just now understanding and letting out. I got to say it feels really good.” Starlight could feel the heat on her cheeks. “I’ve noticed you always blush when you talk about your emotions.” Princess Twilight replied gently laying her forehead on hers. She let out a little laugh. “Guess I’m easy to read.” Starlight said. “I wouldn’t say that. I knew we were close…” “But not this close, I get it,” Starlight added with a smile. “Um…could I…would you let me…” Her gaze moved to Princess Twilight’s lips. “I..I...” Princess Twilight started to closer her eyes as she leaned in the kiss when she heard a collection of gasps behind them. Her voice froze. “We were a wondering what was taken ya so long Twi.” Applejack said. “What’s this all about Twi?” Rainbow said. “Should I throw a Princess Twilight and Starlight are together now party afterward?” Pinkie asked jumping up and down. Fluttershy was hiding her face with a clear redness on her cheeks. “I was beginning to wonder if you’d choose somepony at some point.” Rarity said to the pair. “Will I be put on double library duty now?” Spike asked with the realization that Starlight would be staying at the castle more often. Twilight finally found her voice. “Oh uh…hi everypony we were…that is…” Princess Twilight could feel her face turning several shades of red at being caught. “I want everypony and dragon back inside.” She shoed with her hoof. “I still need to make my decision on Starlight and what she’s done.” When the others went back into the room she turned back to Starlight. “If you’ll follow me, all of us need to talk.”
