Sunset Shimmer’s Journey Through Kalos

Planting A Win

On a ferry boat heading for Coumarine City, Sunset and her Pokémon get a chance to relax as they prepare for their gym battle. She brought Braixen, Lucario, Croagunk, Sandile, Snorlax, and a bat with four wings. Sunny and Izzy, who are on deck chairs as well, see this pleasant sight.
"Hey, Izzy." Sunny said. "Sunset's training is really paying off. Her Golbat has evolved into Crobat."
Izzy looked at Sunset's Pokémon, and saw that Sunny is right. Taking out a book labeled with a blue number 2, Izzy read about this bat. "Crobat, the Bat Pokémon and the evolved form of Golbat. Because its hind legs become wings, this Pokémon can fly fast."
Then, someone came along to greet the girls. It was none other than Fluttershy. "Hi, girls. It's good to see you again."
Sunset was happy to see her nature loving friend. "Hi, Fluttershy. What are you doing here?"
"I'm on my way to explore Coumarine City. I've heard about a kind old man with views of nature. He's the gym leader known as Ramos."
"So, that's the gym leader's name. At least I'll know who I'm looking for in my Gym challenge quest."
"Fluttershy," Sunny said, "how's your little Caterpie?"
"He's doing fine, Sunny." Fluttershy replied as she tosses up a Poké Ball. "Have a look."
Out pops a green cocoon. Izzy recognized the cocoon. "Looks like Caterpie evolved into Metapod."
Sunset took out her Pokédex. "So, that's a Metapod."
Metapod, the Cocoon Pokémon and the evolved form of Caterpie. The Pokédex said. Inside the cocoon, the body waits slowly for it to evolve.
Soon, the boat approaches a dock. They arrived at their destination.

Coumarine City is a very quiet little town. The girls look around. They saw a young girl play with a brown fox type creature.
"That's an Eevee." Fluttershy explained. "One of the most interesting Pokémon ever seen."
Sunset took out her Pokédex, and it gave her some information. Eevee, the Evolution Pokémon. This Pokémon can evolve into one of eight different forms depending on the situation.
"Aw." Sunny cooed. "It's so cute."
"I'd like to see any of Eevee's evolved forms." Sunset added.
Soon, an old man wearing a green outfit rode to the scene, riding a goat like creature. Seeing this creature, Sunset took out her Pokédex. "That looks like Skidoo's evolved form. I think it's called a Gogoat."
Gogoat, the Mount Pokémon and the evolved form of Skidoo. The Pokédex informed. When people ride this Pokémon, they can read feelings by the grip of its horns.
The old man got off and went over to the girls.
"Hello, young whippersnappers." The man greeted. "Enjoying this humble little town?"
"Yes, we are." Fluttershy replied.
"I'm very happy to hear that. If you take the time to open your mind to different things, you might like your new experience."
"Good advice." Sunny said.
The old man looked over Sunset. "You look like an interesting young lady."
"Who, me?" Sunset gasped.
"Yes. You have come to this city to feel the calmness that Coumarine City has. Very impressive for the former bully of Canterlot High School."
Sunset was shocked to hear that. "You know about me?"
"Yes I do, Sunset Shimmer." The old man replied. "I was told by other gym leaders that you have a deep connection with your Pokémon. I want to test that bond. My name is Ramos. I'm the gym leader here."
"So, that's Ramos." Izzy said. "I heard he's passionate about the little things in life."
Ramos pulls out a badge shaped like a green leaf. "This, Miss Shimmer, is the Plant Badge. And, this is for you. If you defeat me in battle, of course."
Sunset felt humbled by this man. She is honored to battle him. "Okay, Ramos. Let's go."

Hello, friends. Sunset Shimmer here. Which Pokémon carries a flower around like an umbrella?

Inside the gym, the girls are all astounded by the atmosphere. It looks like a treehouse with ropes for climbing and swinging. Fluttershy was so much in love with the place. Ramos and Sunset face each other.
"We'll have a three on three Pokémon battle, young lady." Ramos announced.
"Suits me fine." Sunset replied as she throws a Poké Ball. "I'll start with Crobat."
"And, I'll begin with Jumpluff."
From Ramos' Poké Ball comes a blue round creature with puff balls on both sides of its body and on top if it's head. Sunset learns of this creature.
Jumpluff, the Cottonweed Pokémon and the evolved form of Skiploom. The Pokédex said. Light winds carry this Pokémon anywhere in the world.
"Jumpluff," Ramos said, "let's dazzle miss Shimmer's Crobat with Acrobatics."
Jumpluff flew towards Crobat and pummeled it everywhere. Sunset got a little concerned. Ramos gave out another command. "Follow it up with Tackle."
Jumpluff readied to attack again. Regaining her calmness, Sunset reacted. "Crobat, use Confuse Ray."
Crobat's eyes glowed. Jumpluff was under the hypnotic effect and started to hit himself.
"Good work, Crobat." Sunset praised. "Now, use Air Cutter!"
Crobat flapped it's wings so hard, Jumpluff landed on a wall, then fainted. A female farmer then made the call. " Jumpluff is unable to battle. Crobat is the winner."
Ramos recalled his Jumpluff. "Nice try. Now get some rest." He then turned to Sunset. "That Crobat of yours is a good flyer. Your love for Pokémon is showing."
"Thank you, Ramos." Sunset replied.
"Here comes Pokémon number two." Ramos threw a Poké Ball. "Come out, Weepinbell."
Out pops a yellow flower with a round mouth.
" So, that's a Weepinbell." Sunset said as she pulls out her Pokédex.
Weepinbell, the Flycatcher Pokémon. Said the Pokédex. It's stem is used to hang from a tree, ready to catch any bug Pokémon flying buy.
Sunset has an idea. "Crobat, return."
"I guess Sunset is saving her Crobat for later." Fluttershy figured.
"Looks that way." Izzy replied.
Sunset calls for her next Pokémon. "Braixen, I choose you!"
Braixen pops out to confront Weepinbell.
"Time to slow that fire fox down." Ramos figured. "Weepinbell, use Poison Powder."
Weepinbell unleashed a purple mist. Braixen soon was poisoned. Sunset got scared as Ramos gives another command. "Follow it up with Razor Leaf."
Weepinbell unleashed leaves to strike Braixen.
"I better think fast before that poison kicks in." Sunset said. "Braixen, use Flame Charge!"
Braixen flared up to collide with the Flycatacher Pokémon.
"Follow it up with Psybeam!" Sunset said.
Braixen fired its pink beam at Weepinbell. Between the fire and psychic power, Weepinbell fainted.
"Weepinbell is unable to battle." The farm girl announced. "Braixen is the winner."
Ramos recalled Weepinbell. He notices Braixen is still poisoned. He calls for his third Pokémon. "You're up, Gogoat."
Gogoat comes out. Sunset saw that coming. "I had a feeling Gogoat would show up." She looks at Braixen with concern. "We better make this fast."
"Gogoat," Ramos said, "show Miss Shimmer your Earthquake attack."
Gogoat lifted his front legs, then stomped them down so hard, the ground shook. Braixen felt the effects. Between the shaking and the poison, Braixen fainted.
"Braixen is unable to battle." The farm girl announced. "Gogoat is the winner."
"Braixen, return." Sunset said as she recalls her Pokémon.
"I'm sure you're surprised, Miss Shimmer." Ramos informed. "Knowing trainers would bring out fire types, I trained Gogoat to use Earthquake to counter fire Pokémon."
"Earthquake won't stop this." Sunset said. "Back to action, Crobat."
Crobat returns to battle. Sunset gives a command. "Crobat, use Swift!"
Crobat unleashed a bunch of stars at Gogoat. But, Ramos isn't worried. "Gogoat, fire back with Seed Bomb."
Gogoat fired seeds at the stars of Swift. The seeds broke through and struck Crobat. Ramos followed it up. "Finish it up with Tackle."
Gogoat charged at Crobat and struck him. Crobat soon fainted.
"Crobat is unable to battle." The farm girl announced. "Gogoat is the winner."
As Sunset recalled Crobat, her friends start to get worried.
"Poor Sunset." Sunny said nervously. "How's she going to fight that Gogoat?"
Sunset saw that Gogoat is getting tired. Ramos got her attention. "Too bad Gogoat defeated your best Pokémon. You almost had me for a while."
"Luckily for me," Sunset said, "I have one trick up my sleeve." She called for her last Pokémon." Let's go, Snorlax!"
Snorlax came out and towered over Gogoat.
"An interesting choice." Ramos figured. "Let's put this Snorlax to the test. Gogoat, use Bulldoze!"
Gogoat started to run, causing the ground to shake, Sunset reacted. "Snorlax, use Lick."
Snorlax licked Gogoat, causing it to paralyze the Mount Pokémon.
"Now's our chance!" Sunset cheered. "Snorlax, use Body Slam!"
Gogoat tried to move, but the paralysis stopped him as Snorlax jumped up. He landed on Gogoat. When Snorlax got up, Gogoat has fainted.
"Gogoat is unable to battle." The farmer girl announced. "Snorlax is the winner. The winner of this battle is Sunset Shimmer!"
Sunset ran up to Snorlax to give him a hug. "I'm so proud of you, Snorlax."
After recalling Gogoat, Ramos watched Sunset and Snorlax together. He couldn't help but smile.
"That was a great display of unity between Pokémon and trainer." Ramos said happily. "Your friends from CHS would be proud of you, Sunset Shimmer." He then pulls out his badge. "The Plant Badge is now yours."
Sunset received her badge, then holds it up proudly. "I have the Plant Badge! That's badge number four."
After placing her badge in her case, her friends praise her.
"Congratulations, Sunset." Sunny cheered. "You’re halfway there."
"Sunny Starscout is right." Fluttershy said. "Four more badges and you qualify for the Pokémon League."
When they went outside, Fluttershy was on her way to study more Pokémon in nature. Sprout showed up to congratulate Sunset.
"Your fourth victory." Sprout praised. "Halfway to qualifying for the Pokémon League."
"Thanks, Sprout." Sunset replied.
"Gym Challenge number 5 is at Lumiose City. But, there's one little problem."
"What's wrong?"
Sprout got worried. "A group of creeps in red suits invaded the Power Plant along Route 13. That place supplies power to Lumiose City."
"It must be Team Flare." Izzy figured. "That might explain the power problems."
"We know what we have to do." Sunny said. "Prepare ourselves at the Pokémon Center, then remove those Team Flare freaks from the Power Plant."
"Right, Sunny." Sunset said. "Those rogues in red won't get away with this!"
