The ferry to Cianwood City arrived at its destination safely. As soon as it arrived in port the girls set off for the pharmacy for Sparkle’s medicine. Fortunately, they arrived just in time to claim it.
“Here you go one cure for static overload,” The pharmacist said while handing a bottle with an electric-type symbol on it to Janina.
“Thank you,” Janina said before leaving. “I’m off to catch the express ferry back to Olivine City, If you girls see Jasmine tell her Sparkle and I miss her already.
“Will do,” Turquoise said. Turquoise asked if the Pharmacist knew where they could find the Cianwood City Gym.
“I can tell you but I can’t guarantee you will find Chuck there,” The Pharmacist said.
“Where can we find him?” Fluttershy asked.
“You should check the beach, He and his pokemon usually do training there,” he said. The girls decided to check the beach and to their surprise, a big flabby man with muscle and his Poliwrath were sparring with each other.
“Now Poliwrath let's see your Circle Throw,” The man said before Poliwrath grabbed the man and managed to lift him off the ground like he weighed nothing at all before spinning him around and then letting go which sent the man flying a good distance. After getting back up the man came running back at top speed. “Now that was some good distance, next let's see your Submission attack. The man and Poliwrath grappled with each other before rolling around the beach. After they finished the man began crying tears of joy. “I am so proud of you, That Submission attack was absolutely perfect. Suddenly the man noticed he had an audience and instantly recognized Turquoise. “I remember you, From the Fighting Dojo in Saffron City, your Turquoise the winner of last year’s P1 tournament.
“Yeah that’s me,” Turquoise said.
“I’m Chuck the Cianwood City Gym Leader and I can guess your here to challenge my Gym,” Chuck said.
“How did you know?” Turquoise asked.
“From the fire in your eyes, I see that in a lot of trainers,” Chuck said. “Now if you want to find my gym then follow me, lets's go double time, hup two three four, hup two three four. If you want to battle here in Cianwood City get those knees in the air. Suddenly Turquoise and Fluttershy were marching in place just like Chuck. “All right let's move them out.
“Hup two three four, Hup two three four,” All three of them were saying as they marched towards their destination fast with Poliwrath leading the way. Sometime later Poliwrath stopped at the entrance to what looked like a Dojo.
“Wait up Poliwrath,” Fluttershy called out before she and Turquoise made it while catching their breath. Bringing up the rear was Chuck who despite being full of fire a while ago was just as tired as the girls were. As soon as he caught up he fell to his knees.
“What’s the matter you girls out of shape or something?” Chuck said while catching his breath.
“Yeah we are the ones out of shape,” Fluttershy said sarcastically.
“How much further are you taking us?” Turquoise asked before Chuck pointed at the Dojo.
“We’re here this is it,” Chuck said before some kids and their pokemon came out all happy and excited.
“Welcome back master,” The kids all shouted in unison. This did not surprise Turquoise since she already knew Chuck was one of the world’s greatest Fighting-type Masters so it made sense he also had his own Dojo with students and everything.
“Students, did you finish all of your training?” Chuck asked.
“We sure did,” The kids said in unison.
“Good,” Chuck said. Suddenly Turquoise, Fluttershy, Chuck, and all the kids and pokemon were sitting at a table with lots of food on it. “And now we eat, eat, eat so we can become strong fighting machines. Suddenly chuck began plating everyone including Turquoise and Fluttershy. Then he and the Machoke next to him began shoveling their food down.
“Well might as well have our fill,” Turquoise said before she and Fluttershy ate as well.
“That’s it now eat,” Chuck said between mouthfuls, “And Chew, And eat some more, and chew some more, You will need plenty of nourishment to keep your strength up.
“So you are here to challenge the gym for a Storm Badge?” A woman said as she came in carrying more food.
“I sure am,” Turquoise said before finishing her food.
“Well you shouldn't have any trouble beating that flabby old husband of mine,” the woman who was revealed to be Chuck’s wife said jokingly.
“Hey, who are you calling flabby?” Chuck asked which caused his wife to laugh.
“I have more in the kitchen if anyone wants seconds,” Chuck’s Wife said.
“I’m good and feeling ready for that gym battle,” Turquoise said.
“That’s the spirit let's get right to it,” Chuck said. A few minutes later Turquoise and chuck were on the battlefield ready to go as soon as the ref arrived.
“This is an official battle for a Storm Badge between Cianwood City Gym Leader Chuck and Turquoise Dusk from Pallet Town, You will each use Two Pokemon and only the challenger will be allowed to substitute pokemon,” The Ref said.
“Sounds good to me,” Turquoise said.
“Me too,” Chuck said.
“Let the battle begin,” The Ref said.
“Poliwrath let's go,” Chuck said as he called out his Poliwrath who looked fired up. Turquoise knew chuck was gonna use his Poliwrath and had her own heavyweight to fight it with.
“Go Meganium,” Turquoise said as she called out her Meganium.
“Poliwrath use Ice Punch. Poliwrath charged at Meganium with a fist covered in ice blue energy.
“Dodge and use Vine Whip. Despite Meganium’s size She managed to dodge the Ice Punch and ensnare Poliwrath with her Vine Whip. “Now use Body Slam. Meganium used her Vine whip to pull herself to Poliwrath faster while managing to deliver a powerful Body Slam which managed to pin Poliwrath beneath her.
“Very headstrong, I like it, But don’t count my Poliwrath out just yet,” Chuck said before giving his next command. “Poliwrath use Circle Throw. Poliwrath managed to grab Meganium by her leg before getting back up and spinning her around. Despite Meganium’s size Poliwrath was able to lift her like she barely weighed anything at all. After letting go and tossing her Meganium was sent back to her Pokeball while Umbreon was dragged out which really put a dent in Turquosie’s battle plan.
“What happened? And why has my Umbreon been called out?” Turquoise asked.
“That is the effect of Circle Throw, It sends the opposing Pokemon back to their Pokeball and drags another one out,” Chuck said.
“Well no crying over spilled milk I guess, Do your best Umbreon,” Turquoise said.
“Battle resume,” The Ref said.
“Poliwrath use Ice Punch. Poliwrath charged at Umbreon with another ice Punch.
“Dodge and use Shadow Ball. Umbreon managed to use his speed to not only dodge Ice Punch but also managed to flip over Poliwrath and unleash a powerful shadow ball from behind. The shadow ball landed a critical hit which caused Poliwrath to faint.
“Poliwrath is unable to battle, Umbreon is the winner,” The Ref said while pointing his right flag at Turquoise.
“Nicely done Umbreon,” Turquoise said joyfully.
“Poliwrath you thought hard now rest,” Chuck said while recalling Poliwrath. “I must say both your Meganium and Umbreon are impressive especially with the way you adapted to my surprise twist.
“I will admit calling Umbreon out at random did worry me a little since he was the weakest against your Fighting-types but like Ash Ketchum taught me it's not the type of the Pokemon that matters but how you use them,” Turquoise said.
“But can you handle my next Pokemon?” Chuck asked before pulling out another Pokeball. “Go Machoke. Machoke appeared on the field but before the battle could resume Chuck and Machoke did some kind of ritual to psych each other up. Turquoise was slightly confused by what was going on but ignored it and waited for them to finish. “Now back to the battle, Machoke use Bulk Up. Machoke began flexing its muscles which created a red and blue aura around it indicating its attack and defense stats went up. “Now use Dual Chop. Nachoke’s hands were covered in green and blue energy before it lunged at Umbreon ready to chop him.
“Dodge and use Shadow Ball. Umbreon managed to dodge the first chop and unleashed Shadowball.
“Nice try but that won’t work a second time,” Chuck said before Machoke used his second chop to deflect the shadow ball.
“In that case, let's try a direct attack, Umbreon use Quick Attack. Umbreon charged at Machoke which Chuck was waiting for.
“Machoke use Vital Throw. Machoke took the hit and then grabbed Umbreon before tossing him across the battlefield and into the wall behind Turquoise which caused him to faint.
“Umbreon is unable to battle, Machoke is the winner,” The Ref said while pointing his left flag at Chuck.
“Return Umbreon,” Turquoise said while recalling Umbreon. “You did a splendid job now rest.
“I will admit switching to close range was a good idea but you must also anticipate any counterattacks your opponent may use,” Chuck said.
“Noted,” Turquoise said. Turquoise was certain her Meganium would be able to finish the battle. “Come back out Meganium. Meganium returned to the field ready for more.
“Let's see what you got, Machoke use Strength. Machoke charged at Meganium with what looked like a simple punch covered in white energy.
“Use Vine Whip. Mrganium used her Vine whip to stop Machoke by grabbing his arm before doing a judo flip with Vine Whip.
“Not bad but we are far from done, Use Dual Chop. Machoke charged with his Dual chop at the ready.
“Use Magical Leaf. Meganium used her Magical leaf with all she had. Machoke used his first chop to stop Magical Leaf and the second to inflict a great amount of damage to Meganium. Luckily Meganium managed to endure the hit. Suddenly Meganium’s overgrow went into effect which was just the thing Turquoise needed.
“Time to end this, Meganium use Petal Dance with all you got. Meganium unleashed her petal Dance which thanks to Overgrow felt like a violent typhoon of pink petals.
“We won’t back down so easily, Machoke use Dual Chop with all you got. Machoke tried to use his Dual chop to cut through Petal Dance but it was too much for him which resulted in him taking the full force of the attack and fainting.
“Machoke is unable to battle, Meganium is the winner which means victory goes to the challenger,” The Ref said while pointing his right flag at Turquoise.
“We did it we won,” Turquoise said while hugging her Meganium. After recalling Machoke Chuck approached Turquoise.
“That was a well-thought battle and as proof of your victory here at the Cianwood City Gym I present you with the Storm Badge,” Chuck said before giving Turquoise a bronze badge that looked like a fist.
“Thank you,” Turquoise said.
“So where are you girls off to next?” Chuck asked.
“Since Jasmine is not at her gym right now we are off to Lake Valor for the Wallace Cup,” Turquoise said.
“Then you might want to hold off on that because I'm afraid the boat to the Valor Lakefront just left yesterday and won’t be back till tomorrow,” Chuck’s wife said.
“That’s fine because we intend to do a couple of things first,” Fluttershy said.
“First is healing my Meganium and Umbreon,” Turquoise said.
“And the second is calling our friends in Sinnoh to inform them of our arrival,” Fluttershy said.
“Well we wish you girls the best of luck in your future endeavors,” Chuck said before Turquoise and Fluttershy left for the Pokemon center. While Umbreon and Meganium were healing Turquoise was using the vidphone to call Rarity and Applejack.
In the Sinnoh Region at the Valor Lakefront Pokemon center Rarity was relaxing with her Delcatty when Nurse Joy approached her.
“Excuse Rarity you have a phone call from Cianwood City,” Nurse Joy said.
“Coming Darling,” Rarity said before getting up. As soon as she answered the phone she was surprised to see who was on the other end.
“Hi rarity,” Turquoise said.
“Turquoise darling it's so good to see you again, How is your journey going?” Rarity asked.
“Gym wise I just got my Storm Badge but contest wise not so good,” Turquoise said.
“What happened?” Rarity asked.
“I didn’t make it to the second round of my last contest,” Turquoise said.
“That’s quite the shocker since I know how great you are,” Rarity said.
“Anyway with the advice of a few people I decided to enter the Wallace Cup,” Turquoise said.
“What a coincidence so am I,” Rarity said with joy.
“I had a feeling you would and we can’t wait to see you again,” Turquoise said.
“Applejack did mention Fluttershy was traveling with you, How is that Eevee you caught doing by the way?” Rarity asked.
“He is going quite well and even evolved,” Turquoise said.
“I can’t wait to see what he evolved into when you girls get here,” Rarity said. Before the conversation could go on Applejack’s Boltund pulled at her skirt before pointing at Applejack who had food ready. “Can’t wait to see you girls bye. Rarity hung up and was happy.
“Who was that rare?” Applejack asked.
“Just Turquoise informing me she and Fluttershy are coming for the Wallace Cup,” Rarity said.
“Are they both entering or just watching?” Applejack asked.
“Turquoise is entering and we know Fluttershy is just going to watch since we all know she doesn't like crowds,” Rarity said.
“Ah sure can’t wait to see those two again,” Applejack said.
Back with Turquoise and Fluttershy, they were just as excited about seeing two of their friends again. The girls called it a night and went to bed excited for what tomorrow will bring as the journey continues.
