Sweetie Belle leans against the wall outside of Duel Academy in her new blue uniform. Apple Bloom stands next to her with her yellow uniform while Button passes back and forth in front of the two. "I can't believe she won," Sweetie Belle says with a slight edge to her voice. "It was probably luck,"
"Some pony sounds jealousy that they didn't get to duel Starlight," Button says, stopping in front of Sweetie Belle with a slight grin on his face. Sweetie Belle looks away with a light blush on her face.
"Just a little surprised is all," Sweetie Belle replies as Button goes back to passing.
"I don't think the battle ever tilted into Starlight's favor during the enter thing," Applebloom says aloud to herself.
"Mabey once at the beginning, but that might be it," Button replies to Applebloom's out loud thinking. Button's ears twitch as he hears hoof steps coming from inside the building. The other two get off the wall as Scootaloo bursts out of the Academy with a big grin on her face.
Now dressed in a red jacket and red fingerless gloves. She shouts to the skies with her arms wide open. "I'm in!" Scootaloo looks around a little disappointed. "Thought there would be more ponies considering I just took down one of the best duelists in ponyvill,"
"It's been an hour Scoots," Button says bluntly. This shocks Scootaloo into visible flinching.
"It was an hour!" Scootaloo replies. Button and Applebloom both nodes to confirm. "Wow, it took that long to put me in Sliver red,"
"Duel! now!" Sweetie Belle yells pointing at Scootaloo in anger. Everyone flinches from the display of anger coming from the normally calm Sweetie Belle.
"Huh?" is all Scootaloo says before Sweetie Belle buts in, a bit calmer than last time.
"You heard me! duel me to prove you won with skill and not luck," Sweetie Belle says as she turns on her duel disk.
"I'd never back down from a challenge," Scootaloo says, rubbing her nose with her thumb before flicking her nose. "You got it, Let Duel!" Scootaloo says, turning on her own new duel disk. Button and Applebloom step away as the two draw their five cards.
"I'll let you go first since you did during the entrance duel," Sweetie Belle says as she looks over her hand.
"Thanks," Scootaloo replies as she draws her first card. She frowns at the hand. "First I'll play Death Dragon in attack mode," She says as the dark smoke forms around her again with the beady red eyes forming in the smoke. Death Dragons modest 1,500 attack and 2,000 defense points. "Then I'll use the spell card, Hand Destruction,"
She places the spell card on the field. A little red colt with a sword in its hand appears on the field. Scootaloo picks two cards as Sweetie Belle does the same. They both hold them out as the little colt cuts them in half.
"Hu, neet," Scootaloo thinks with a smile as she draws two more cards. Sweetie Belle doing the same.
"Thanks to that, I sent two dragons to the grave, meaning my dragon gets a boost from 1,500 attack to 1,900 attack because of his effect," Scootaloo explains as her dragon's attack raises. "Then I'll activate the spell, Quick Attack," She places a spell car down as her dragon is revealed from the darkness. It's completely black, its huge wings spread out as it starts to glow bright white.
"This allows me to attack even when I can't normally or stopped by one of your card's effects," Scootaloo says with a smirk. Sweetie Belle grimaces as the Dragon charges a fireball in its mouth. "Now attack her directly with a molten fireball blast!" Scootaloo yells as the fireball hurtles toward Sweetie Belle. Hitting her directly, her life points dropped down to 6,100.
The light fades away from the dragon, slipping back into the dark smoke. "I place one card face down and end my turn,"
"Let's see here," Sweetie Belle says as she draws her card. "First I'll play Crystal Beast Amethyst Cat in attack mode!" She places the card down as a giant cat with pink fur and an amethyst necklace appear on the field. Scootaloo chuckles to herself at the pitiful attack points of 1,200.
"You laugh now, but thanks to her effect I can attack you directly with half the attack points," Sweetie Belle says as Amethyst Cat jumps towards Scootaloo.
"Sorry, but I activate my trap card, Negate Attack!" Scootaloo says with a big smile on her face. The Amethyst Cat goes back to her side of the field. Sweetie Belle is unfaced by the trap card as she places one card face down.
"I end my turn with a face-down card," Sweetie Belle says as a card face-down appears in front of her.
"I wonder what the face-down card is?" Applebloom asks herself.
"It's probably her Crystal Signal trap card," Button responds. Applebloom looks over at him in slight confusion.
"How would you know?" Applebloom asks.
"Before I meet Scoots, I use to duel Sweetie Belle all the time." Button starts explaining as Scootaloo draws her next card. "She would use that trap card on me all the time." Button finishes as Scootaloo begins her turn.
"First I'll play Card Lottery!" She says as a lottery machine appears in front of her. "I don't think I need to explain what the card does. So let's spin the slots," Scootaloo says as she gestures to the machine. The lottery machine's arm pulls down at the three slots start to spin. The group watches as the first slot lands on 1. Sweetie Belle visibly sighs as the second one lands on a 7.
Scootaloo draws two new cards as the last slot lands on a 7. She then draws two more cards. Sweetie Belle watches in slight fear as Scootaloo looks over her cards.
"Next I'll play another Death Dragon," Scootaloo says, placing down another dragon. The smoke thickens as another giant black dragon with red eyes glares at Sweetie Belle. The two dragon's attack and defense points sit at 1,900 and 2,000. "First I'll attack your Amethyst Cat," Scootaloo says, pointing at the cat. The Death Dragon charges its fireball in its mouth before releasing it towards the Amethyst Cat. The cat is melted away as the fireball hits the cat, dropping Sweetie's life points down to 5,400.
"You have triggered my trap card!" Sweetie Belle yells out as her trap card flips up. The trap card depicted a circle of seven crystals in a circle around the letter C. "This is Crystal Signal! It allows me to special summon one crystal monster from my hand to the field as long as it's under 4 stars,"
"Nice call," Applebloom congratulates Button.
"Called it," Button responded, bumping his fist against his chest as a smile crossed his face.
"I summon Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle to the field," Sweetie says as a little purple cat with a long tail and a ruby at the end of it appears in front of her. The little cat's attack points pittifly low at only 300. "Because she was special summoned, I can now summon any crystal beast monster from my hand to the field," Sweetie Belle explains as she places down two cards.
"I think I'll play Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus and Crystal Beast Amber Mammoth!" Appearing on the field is a tall and bulky pegasus horse with a sapphire horn. The unicorn's deadly attack sat at 1,800. A giant gray mammoth with an Amber crystal on its forehead follows shortly behind. Its attack sitting at 1,700. "Your move Scoots,"
Scootaloo looks in surprise at the sudden appearance of three monsters. "No matter, I'll attack with my other Death Dragon at your Crystal Ruby," Scootaloo says as her other dragon charges and attack. The dragon releases the fireball and sends it towards the little Crystal Cat.
"Sorry, but because of Crystal Mammoth, I can redirect that attack to him," Sweetie Belle says as the Mammoth jumps in front of Carbuncle, causing the attack to hit it and destroy it. Dropping Sweetie's life points down to 5,200.
Scootaloo grits her teeth as Sweetie Belle now has a wicked smile. "I'll play polymerization, to fuse my two death dragons into The Reaper of Soals, Grantier," Scootaloo says as the two death dragons merge together to form a bigger dragon. The giant monster is completely black, almost like it's a living shadow. Deep red eyes glare angrily at Sweetie Belle. Red lines run down his back and up its wings, highlighting the bones protruding down to make up the wing. The deadly dragon's attack only at 1,500, but is made up by its high defense of 3,500.
"And because of its effect, it gains 400 attack points for every dragon in the grave. Meaning with two blue eyes and two death dragons, it gains 1,600 points," Scootaloo explains as her dragon goes from 1,500 attack to 3,100. "I then throw down a face down,"
Sweetie Belle draws a card as the lottery machine explodes and takes 400 life points from Scootaloo. Dropping her down to 7,600. Slowly a small smile crosses Sweetie Belle's lips as she looks at the cards in her hand. "First I play Pot of Greed," Sweetie Belle says as she draws two new cards.
"Next I'll play the spell card! Crystal Help," Sweetie Belle says, placing down a spell card that causes her crystal monsters to glow. "For every crystal monster on the field I gain a card," She explains as she draws two new cards. She looks over her cards as a smile starts to creep onto her face slowly. Scootaloo gets more nervous as she waits for Sweetie to continue her turn. "I play Card Destruction! You now must.."
"Yes, I know how this card goes, just get on with it," Scootaloo replies, interrupting Sweetie Belle. This makes her angry at her friend's rude interruption. The two watches in slight surprise as a hand comes out of their graveyards and grabs the cards in their hand. The two then draw their new cards equal to the amount they already had before. Sweetie Belle's smile widens as she sees what's in her hand.
"She got Rainbow Dragon," Button says with slight fear in his voice. Applebloom looks up at Button with the same confusion from earlier. "Trust me, I know that look. She has Scootaloo right where she wants her." Applebloom turns back to the field as Sweetie Belle starts her next move.
"I then summon my favorite card! Rainbow Dragon!" Sweetie Belle says as she places the card on the field. Her graveyard glows as the monsters on her field also start to glow. Balls of light correlating to the 7 different colored crystal monsters from both the field and grave fly up into the air and merge into one.
Gusts of wind shot down against the group as a giant white dragon, with golden spicks and big wings formed above them. Light beams shoot out in the different colors of the rainbow as the dragon takes shape. Its red eyes lock onto Scootaloo as she looks up in awe at the dragon. Rainbow Dragon flies down and wraps itself around Sweetie Bell before stopping and glaring at Scootaloo. The mighty beast holds a staggering 4,000 attack points.
"Knew it," Button whispers to himself.
"4,000 attack points!" Scootaloo whispers to herself in shock.
"Yes, it's quite the beast," Sweetie remarks. "Now! Rainbow Dragon, Attack Grantier with Rainbow Blast!" The dragon follows her orders and sends a beam of pure white light toward Scootaloo's monster. The beam hits the monster as Sweetie watches with a smile on her face, but then looks confused at how Scootaloo's life points were not dropping.
The light beam dissipates to reveal the trap card, negate attack. "How do you like them cards?" Scootaloo asks, getting a chuckle out of Applebloom. Sweetie Belle fuming in anger at the trap card.
"I'll end my turn!" She yells out in anger.
"Dang, Sweetie Belle needs to calm down," Applebloom comments.
"When it comes to Duel Monsters, She gets way too into it," Button responds.
"Good, now let's see what the deck has for me this time," Scootaloo says, drawing her card and looking at it. She visibly grunts in anger at the card. "I end my turn by placing Grantier in defense." Her mighty beast lands on the ground and shields Scootaloo.
"That 3,500 defense can't safe you now Scootaloo!" Sweetie Belle smugly says as she draws a new card. "Now I play Crystal Beast Amber Mammoth in attack mode." Her Amber Mammoth stamped onto the field next to the other two crystal beasts. "Now I'll attack your Grantier with Rainbow Blast!" Rainbow Dragon starts to charge up another attack.
"Unless Scootaloo has something to back this up, I think she's done," Applebloom says as the light beam stricks Grantier. The dragon screams in pain before being disintegrated.
"Now my other crystal beasts can attack!" Sweetie Belle says as her Pegasus, Mammoth, and Cat go straight for Scootaloo.
"This is going to hurt," Scootaloo whispers before being slashed in the face by Carbuncle, step on by Mammoth, and Magic blasted by Pegasus. All the attacks dropped Scootaloo down to 3,800 life points.
"That ends my turn," Sweetie Belle says confidently as Scootaloo prepares to draw a card.
"This next card need's to be one I can use. Please be a good one," Scootaloo begged to herself as she closed her eyes. She draws the card, extending her arm all the way out beside her. Her eyes snap open as a strange force shots up her body. Without looking at the card, She placed it in her spell card zone with a smile.
"That ends my turn," Scootaloo says. Applebloom and Button look on in shock at the display as Sweetie Belle just smiles.
"Giving up already?" Sweetie says as she draws her next card.
"Nope, just believing in the heart of the cards," Scootaloo replies quickly back.
"At this point, it doesn't really matter what you have." Sweetie Belle replies. "Now Rainbow Dragon attack her for game!" Rainbow Dragon flies up into the air as its mouth starts to glow. It looks down at Scootaloo and lets out the biggest burst of power it has ever shot.
Scootaloo looks on at her impending doom with a straight face. Button catches a slight smile across Scootaloo's face before being engulfed in the light.
"What's that face down?" Button thought. He didn't need to wait long to see four smaller light streams break out and head towards the crystal beasts. Sweetie and the others look on as the crystal beasts are destroyed. The last light beam hits the dragon, causing it to fracture and crack as light spilled out of its body before blowing up in a shower of particles.
"What!" Sweetie says in disbelief. She looks at Scootaloo, who had her arms crossed over her chest, and who was unharmed. Her face-down card now revealed to be Mirror Force.
"Got ya," Scootaloo says with a smirk.
"She's still in this," Applebloom shouts in excitement.
"I play a face-down defense monster and end my turn," Sweetie says as a face-down card appears on the field.
"She's gonna have to make quick work," Button says as Scootaloo draws a new card.
"What do you mean?" Applebloom says as Scootaloo plays another Card Lottery.
"I mean, Sweetie Belle has three Rainbow Dragons. And because of its effect, it can be played so long as all seven different crystal beasts are in the grave or field," Button explains as the first slot lands on a 7.
"That means she can play it right when she draws it," Applebloom whispers to herself as the second slot lands on 7.
"You got it," Button replies as the last slot lands on a 9. Scootaloo looks over her cards as a smile snakes across her face.
"First I play fusion recovery to bring back Death Dragon!" Scootaloo says as the card appears in her hand along with the Fusion recovery card turning into polymerization. "I will then fuse Blue-eyes, Crystal Dragon, and Death Dragon to create The Ultimate Dragon of Light and Dark!"
The sky fills with clouds as three dragons fly up into them. Lightning stricks the ground as a rainbow forms over the top of the dueling field. Flying down from the heavens is a giant three-headed dragon. Dark black crystal skin with blue eyes and white spines. The dragon lands on the field with a loud thud as its roar shakes the ground. The mighty dragon only has 1,500 attack but has a high defense of 5,000.
"Thanks to its first effect, I can summon anyone dragon type to the field," Scootaloo explains as she readies a card in her hand. "So say hello to the last of the Crystal Dragons!" She yells out as the mighty Crystal Dragon flies up next to The Ultimate Dragon. "He also gains 500 attack points for every dragon in the grave. Now with 8 dragons in the grave, my Ultimate dragon gains a total of 4,000 extra attacks! For a grand total of 5,500 Attack!" Sweetie Belle looks on in fear at the two dragons in front of her.
"Now Crystal Dragon, attack her face-down monster with Crystal Slash!" Scootaloo orders. The Crystal Dragon spreads its wings back before flapping them forward, shooting out crystal towards the face-down monster. The card is destroyed, and without missing a beat Scootaloo yells out with a giant smile on her face, "Now The Ultimate Dragon of Light and Dark! Attack her directly with Chaos Energy Blast!"
The Ultimate Dragon charges its attack on all three of its heads. Each one shoots out a different beam, one dark, one light, and the last rainbow. The three beams merge together to form one beam of light before hitting Sweetie Belle directly. She covers her eyes from the bright light as her life points drop down to 0.
The monsters fade away as Applebloom and Button cheer from the sidelines. "And that's game," Scootaloo says, pointing at Sweetie Belle. Sweetie Belle sighs with a defeated look before looking up at Scootaloo with a proud smile.
"I guess you did earn that win," Sweetie Belle says as everyone walks over to her. "But might I ask, when did you build such a good Dragon deck? Didn't you use to have a Winged Beast Deck?" Scootaloo nodes yes.
"I rebuilt my deck over the past week, getting ready for the duel Academy entrance exam," Scootaloo explains. She flinches in surprise when Sweetie Belle hugs her.
"I'm glad you made it in and sorry for earlier," Sweetie Belle says as Scootaloo hugs back.
"No problem Sweetie Belle," Scootaloo says as Applebloom joins the hug. The three sit there for a bit before realizing they are missing someone.
"Hey Button, come and join in," Sweetie Says, looking over at Button.
"Na, I'll let you girls have this one alone," Button says, waving them off.
"Come on you big lug," Scootaloo says, grabbing Button's arm and dragging him into the hug. The group all laughed at the situation as Button finally joins the group hug.
