The Shining Blue Light of Hope

For a millenia, The War of Light between each of the different Lantern Corps had been raging on. Even though the allied team-up between the Green Lanterns, Blue Lanterns, and Star Sapphires were a powerful match-up. The combined forces of The Yellow Lanterns, and Red Lanterns were just too powerful for all of them to take on by themselves. However, the unexpected arrival of the undead Black-Lanterns and the robotic killing Machines known as the Man-Hunters shifted the tide of the War, led by the deranged lunatic, Black-Hand, The Black-Lanterns would stop at nothing until the deadly plan known as The Blackest Night was completed.

So, In retaliation, the other Lantern Corps sent their power rings to locations found all across the stars to find more people to use as new warriors for their cause. Even the deranged Larfleeze, sent Orange lantern Rings out across the stars, as even he knew that his constructs wouldn't be enough to win the war.

The War of Light is about to begin.

Sunset Shimmer was busy packing her bags so that she could finally go back to her apartment for a long deserved snooze.

"(Yawn), Man that Exam was such a pain," Sunset said as she was packing up her backpack. To Sunset, studying for her chemistry exam was very difficult, however, she was lucky that her best friend, Twilight Sparkle, agreed to help her study for the exam.

Sunset noticed faint bags under her eyes when she looked at the pocket mirror in her locker, probably due to the fact that she stayed up all night preparing for the exam. So, Sunset was really exhausted as she really tried to keep herself from passing out in the locker-room hallway.

"Hey Sunset," Twilight said as she saw Sunset. "Congrats on working as hard as you did for the exam."

"Hey, I'm just glad that I made a good enough grade," Sunset said as she looked back at her answer sheet, The grade was an 101%. "I mean I was hoping to get all the 10 extra credit points, but I'm just glad that I made an A on it."

"Yeah, I made a 110% on it," Twilight said as Sunset let out a sigh. "I heard Pinkie made a 92% on it.

"Yep, Ms. Perfect Score as usual," Sunset said, as she knew that Twilight alway's got the highest grades in that class.

"A 71%," Rainbow said as she looked at her answer sheet.

"Oh, Rainbow, you got a D on it," Twilight said.

"Don't worry, Chemistry wasn't really my strongest suite in school these days," Rainbow said as she put it in her backpack. "I'm more willing to a good grade on the 1.5 mile post-run I have in my fitness class."

"Well, catch you all later," Rainbow said as she ran towards the stairs.

"See ya Dash," Twilight said back.

Twilight then turned back towards Sunset, as she saw Sunset was wobbling a little, due to the fact that she was falling asleep.

"Hey Sunset, wake up," Twilight said.

"Huh whoa," Sunset said in a drowsy tone of voice. "What time is it?"

"The time is 2:30," Twilight said. "Sunset I know you wanted to make a good grade on this exam, but you really need to get some sleep, it's not good for your mental health."

Sunset didn't respond.

"Sunset, did you fall asleep again," Twilight asked.

"No Mom, I'm coming down," Sunset said, obviously sleeping.

Twilight knew the best way to wake her up, as she got out a bag of ice cubes.

Twilight got out three ice cubes and slipped them into Sunset's shirt collar.

"AIIIEEE," Sunset yelped. "OK OK I'M AWAKE, I'M AWAKE!"

"Just making sure," Twilight said. "Sunset, are you alright with spending the night at Pinkies place, you look to tired to be riding your motorcycle, and I told Pinkie to keep the noise down to let you sleep."

"Yeah thank you," Sunset said as they both left the school grounds.

Twilight and Sunset both got onto the city bus, as it drove them to the street address where Pinkie's house was located.

As Twilight was looking at a book she rented at the library, she felt a pressure on her right shoulder. When she turned to her right, she saw that Sunset was fast asleep, but instead of waking her up again, she let Sunset sleep on her shoulder, until they got to Pinkies place. Twilight let out a yawn, as she was also getting a little drowsy herself.

By the time they got to Pinkie's neighborhood, both girl's were fast asleep, but the buses horn woke Twilight up.

"Sunset wake up, we're here," Twilight said, nudging Sunset's shoulder.

"But, Mom, I want to go to the Great Galloping Gala," Sunset slurred in her sleep, as a drop of drool was coming from her mouth.

It was clear that Sunset was out like a light-bulb, so Twilight had to carry Sunset off the bus.

As soon as Twilight rang the door-bell to Pinkie's house, Pinkie opened the door with a smile on her face.

"Hello Twilight and Sunset, what brings you both here," Pinkie asked.

"Shh," Twilight said as she pointed to Sunset.

"You have no where to go Discord, we will stop you with the magic of..." Sunset said before she continued snoring.

As soon as they both entered Pinkie's house, Twilight brought Sunset to a reserved bedroom.

As soon as Sunset was wrapped in the beds covers, Twilight quietly closed the door to let Sunset sleep in peace.

Twilight and Pinkie were sitting on the couch watching tv when something crossed Twilight's mind.

"Hey Pinkie, I've been wondering about each of us having a glimmer of hope in us," Twilight said.

"I mean, who wouldn't be," Pinkie said in a chipper tone of voice. "It is her home after all."

"Yeah, one day I heard her crying in her room, because she had a Nightmare about herself never turning good and laying waste to the human world," Twilight said. "But no matter what happens, Sunset always's knew that their was alway's hope that Sunset would one day turn good and it happened."

"Well, If Sunset has hope of turning good, then maybe hope changed our lives for the better too," Pinkie said.

"You know what Pinkie, you're absolutely right," Twilight said. "I remember back at Crystal Prep, I once thought that there was no hope of me for ever making friends, but thanks to Sunset, she gave a glimmer of hope to press on and try to make some friends for a change instead of just giving up.

"I also thought that there wasn't going to be any happiness in me because of my family, when I was little, but after I came to Canterlot High and met all of you, I found hope for my happiness," Pinkie said in a happy tone of voice.

"I think we need to owe it to Sunset tonight," Twilight said. "Let's both for Sunset tonight before we sleep, ok."

"Ookie Dokie Lokie," Pinkie said.

"Well I'm getting a little sleepy, I'll be crashing for the night now," Pinkie said as she went to her bedroom.

"Good night," Twilight said as she then went to the bedroom reserved for her, and once she showered, brushed her teeth and put her pajamas on, Twilight immediately fell asleep as soon as her face hit the pillow.

Later that night, none of them realized that outside there were three glowing orbs made of blue light that were outside the house.

The three orbs then split up as they went to each of their bedrooms.

The lights didn't really stir Sunset or Pinkie that much, but Twilight was talking a little in her sleep.

"Sunset, thank you for saving me, thanks to you, I finally have found hope in friendship," Twilight said before she continued to snore.

The orbs then rest on each of the desks on the sides of their beds, and when the lights dissipated, night returned as silence was restored.

The next morning, Twilight woke up when the morning sun shined on her eyes.

"Oh, I should've closed the blinds before I slept," Twilight said as her eyes were adjusting to the daylight.

Once she got her clothes on, she was about to leave when something caught her eye.

"Huh," Twilight said as she walked towards the banister. "A ring," Twilight said in confusion. Even though she didn't know how this ring got in her room, she put in in her backpack.

The last day of school was uneventful, with nothing really attentive happening. Eventually, the final bell rang as she then packed her backpack and was ready to prepare for Summer Vacation.

That was until Twilight looked up at the sky and saw that the sky was covered with assortments of green, red, blue, yellow, orange, and other colors racing across the sky.

"What is happening," Twilight thought to herself.

Suddenly, Twilight saw her backpack glow this bright blue light coming from the inside of the backpack. And when Twilight opened it up, something shot out from her backpack.

It was the mysterious ring she found on her banister, and Twilight was surprised that it could glow like this.

"Twilight Sparkle of Earth 535," The Ring said. "We have detected a great light of hope in your heart, Welcome to The Blue Lantern Corps."

The Ring then started moving until it went onto Twilight's right ring finger.

Suddenly, like a bolt of Lightning, the ring propelled Twilight into the vast reaches of space at extreme speeds. Twilight tried to scream but she was going so fast that nothing came out of her mouth.

This continued until Twilight saw some kind of Blue planet that she was heading for. That was when she saw two other blue orbs of light heading for the same planet.

As soon as she came out of the planets atmosphere she started to feel like her body was changing, almost like some kind of unknown power was entering her body.

Soon, Twilight saw that she wasn't going at mach speed anymore. In fact Twilight saw that she was somehow still in the sky.

Suddenly Twilight saw that she wasn't wearing her usual clothing but she was instead wearing some kind of blue costume and her glasses were replaced with some kind of head-piece that was covering her eyes.

Twilight then saw a strange island that was somehow floating in the air.

Twilight out of basic instinct, started flying towards the island, where she saw two familiar faces.

"Sunset, Pinkie," Twilight saw as she saw them wearing identical costumes.

"Twilight can I ask you three questions," Sunset asked.

"Sure ask away," Twilight said.

"Ok...Where are we? Why are we wearing these costumes and have these strange powers? Oh and most importantly of all...WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON?!" Sunset asked.

"All of your questions will be answered in time," An unknown voice said.

The three girls turned around only to see a little blue man with long white hair and a garment that had the same symbol as their rings and costumes did.

"Welcome new Blue Lanterns, I am Ganthet, one of the great Guardians of the Universe," Ganthet said. "This planet is known as Odym, and I am the one who sent you those rings when I found the glimmers of hope in each of you."

"Come, follow me to our corps central power battery," Ganthet said as they followed Ganthet.

"Now, I must tell you that your rings energy will not last forever, so you must charge them periodically," Ganthet said. "However, in order to charge your rings, you must say the sacred oath of the Blue Lanterns."

Ganthet then moved to the central power battery as he said, "In fearful day, in raging night, With strong hearts full, our souls ignite, When all seems lost in the War of Light, Look to the stars, for hope burns bright!”

"Now, you try," Ganthet said.

As Twilight, Sunset, and Pinkie raised their rings towards the power battery, they then said the oath.

β€œIn fearful day, in raging night, With strong hearts full, our souls ignite, When all seems lost in the War of Light, Look to the stars, for hope burns bright!” Twilight, Sunset, and Pinkie said as all three of them are engulfed in the bright blue light of Hope.

And with that, Sunset Shimmer, Twilight Sparkle, and Pinkie Pie have been chosen as the newest Blue Lanterns in the Blue Lantern Corp. And with their new power, they will shine the blue light of hope on the world. However, they aren't the only ones in the human world that will be joining this War of Light.

All will be well.
