//------------------------------// // Green-Eyed Nightmare // Story: The Element of Greed // by MechaTomX //------------------------------// It was a quiet night in the city of Canterlot, the citizens sleeping peacefully after the defeat of Danu and the Knights of Harmony. The capital of Equestria had been restored thanks to the mutual support of the ponies and the support of the other kingdoms. Equestria owed its heroines, the Mane Six, once again. Meanwhile at Canterlot Castle. In a room, Spike the Dragon was sleeping, he was the royal advisor and the right claw of Princess Twilight Sparkle, he was in charge of making peace between the kingdoms as one of his many jobs. Spike was having a dream in which he remembered the day he got his wings and defeated a giant Roc. “Hey, giant chicken! If you like dragons so much, come and get me!,” Spike said as he faced the bird. The Roc emitted a threatening screech as it tried to devour the little dragon, but Spike was smarter and flew around its head in many circles, as a result, the bird ended up dizzy. Spike approached the Roc, "Greetings." The Roc tried to devour him, but Spike dodged the attack again. At that moment, Spike decided to attack, expelling a huge blast of fire, which knocked out the Roc. "Ahhhhhh," Spike heard a scream and could see Zecora and Rarity falling. “SPIKE,” Twilight Sparkle yelled. Spike and Twilight flew towards where the 2 were falling and avoided their fall, Twilight saving Zecora while Spike saved Rarity. Zecora approached the dragon to congratulate him, “I know that the molt produced surprising things. But I'm glad that the last was a new pair of wings!” "Yes and also, I'm glad you've got wings!” Rarity said yelling. Everything seemed to be a happy moment. But suddenly everything changed. The ground began to shake, the sky began to darken. "What's going on?" the dragon wondered. Then he realized that he was alone, Twilight, Rarity and Zecora had disappeared. Suddenly, an earthquake shook the place, and a castle that Spike knew appeared from the bottom of the earth. "The castle of the 2 sisters, why is it here?" he wondered as he investigated the castle more closely. When he was in the doorway he heard a voice, "SPIKE, HELP ME." Spike recognized the voice as Twilight Sparkle's and quickly made his way inside the castle. "Twilight where are you?" he shouted worried until he managed to find her, it wasn't difficult since she was in the hall. The dragon approached the pony he considered his older sister, she was lying on the ground. "Quick, Twilight, we have to get out of here," Spike said as he approached her. But when he saw her face, Spike was scared, Twilight's eyes were completely black, as if she had no soul. "Ahhhh, Twilight, TWILIGHT," Spike yelled trying to get his sister to react, "WAKE UP." "Hahahahaha," Spike heard an evil laugh in the distance, he quickly turned to the ceiling and there he saw a shadowy figure, the darkness hid it very well, the only thing that Spike could see of that being, were horrible green eyes without pupils. "Who are you?" Spike asked, "What do you want?" Suddenly in a second, the creature teleported away. "Uh, where is that thing?" Spike yelled looking around, but he couldn't find it. "Here," Spike heard that whisper in his ear and froze in fear, he couldn't turn around to see what the creature looked like, but then…. SLASH. Spike felt something in his chest, he looked down with all the fear in the world and saw that where his heart was now there was a dagger that pierced it and a black liquid gushed out of it. “AHHHHHHHH,” yelled the little dragon pulling the dagger out of his chest as he used a puddle on the ground to see his wound. Seeing the black liquid that came out of his heart, he used his claws to cover it, but it was useless, the liquid did not stop. "Hahahaha, what's wrong with you little one, I thought you would be stronger than this," said the creature. Spike ignored him as he looked at his reflection in the water, suddenly the black liquid began to fill his eyes, to the point of having them like Twilight's, "NO, NO, NOOOOO." At that moment, Twilight stood up, still black-eyed, and she spoke, "SPIKE, I'M SORRY." After saying that, Twilight spit out black liquid from her mouth and she passed out again. "NOOOOOO, TWILIGHT," Spike yelled as he used his remaining strength to get closer to Twilight, but in that instant... BLARGH. Spike spit black liquid from his mouth, then he fell to the ground, "Twiiii....light." Little by little, he saw how everything was getting darker, the last thing he could hear was the laughter of that evil creature with green eyes. "Hahaha." "NOOOOOOOO," Spike shouted waking up, he realized that he was back in his room, even so, he wasn't fully recovered from the nightmare he had, and that's why he turned around for security after checking his body in case of some injury, fortunately, everything was fine. "Ugghh, what a horrible nightmare," Spike thought. At that moment, the door to his room opened. "Spike, are you okay? what happened?" It was Twilight Sparkle who entered the room worried about her little brother. "It's nothing Twi, it was just a nightmare," Spike said. "But Spike, you're sweating a lot," Twilight responded, pointing at Spike. He saw that she was indeed sweating, and though she didn't say anything, Twilight managed to see tear marks running down Spike's eyes. "Oh, I guess I'm sweaty," Spike said. Twilight came over and climbed onto Spike's bed, she caressed him, "Would you like to tell me about your dream?" Spike looked at her then turned away, "Umm, no, it wasn't a big deal." "Please Spike, I must know, no matter what happens, I will always be there for you," Twilight told him, "Please." Spike sighed and decided it was best to be honest with his older sister, "Well, I'll tell you." Spike told Twilight every detail of his dream the further he went, the more disgusting it made her, when Spike finished, Twilight decided to give him the biggest hug. "Oh, Spike, that's horrible, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked you to remember that," Twilight said with tears in her eyes and without letting go of Spike. "The scariest thing is that it's not the first time I've had this nightmare." "Have you already dreamed it, when?" "Well, it was the day after we defeated the Knights of Harmony." "Spike, that was weeks ago, I think we should tell Princess Luna," Twilight said. "She's not a princess anymore, I don't know if we should bring her into this," Spike replied sheepishly. "Still, we'll be able to ask her and Celestia about more of the castle's secrets, and coming to dinner with us tomorrow might be the perfect opportunity," Twilight said. "I guess it wouldn't hurt to try," Spike said as he returned to his bed ready for sleep, "Well, I wish you good night Twilight." At that moment, instead of leaving, she climbed into Spike's bed, "I think it would be better if you slept with me today Spike." Spike smiled, "Thanks Twilight." "You're welcome Spike," said the unicorn as she kissed the little dragon on the forehead, then the 2 siblings fell asleep.
