Episode 8: The Shadow Saga (Part 2):
The Black Hedgehog
In the Castle of Friendship, the remaining Freedom Fighters were all pacing in the dining room about what happened with Sonic the Hedgehog. The Mane 6 walked in.
"What happened?" Twilight asked.
"GUN accused Sonic of breaking into a high security prison base with Doctor Eggman," MC said.
"What?!" The Mane 6 asked in unison.
"But that's impossible!" Pinkie Pie said. "Sonic was with all of us in the School of Friendship the entire time."
"That's what we've been trying to tell them, but they wouldn't listen," Tails said. "All they gave us was this footage." Then an image showed up on a holographic screen.
"Whoa!" Applejack said. "Whoever that feller is is powerful."
"Yeah," Mutt said. "Just who is this guy?"
Meanwhile, in a helicopter, a bunch of Government agents were transporting the handcuffed Sonic the Hedgehog to a prison.
"This is Hendricks speaking," came the voice of one of the pilots. "We are now over San Francisco, transporting the prisoner to the destined prison." Just then, there was a commotion coming from behind the pilots. "What's going on back there?!"
"The Hedgehog is escaping!" said one of the agents.
Sonic then smashed through the door without his handcuffs, and landed on a supporting wing. He then said, "I don't know what's going on, but I'm gonna get to the bottom of this. Sonic then ripped of a piece of plating from the helicopter, and jumped down to the ground. "Woohoo!!"
Down on the ground, Midpoint and Cozy Glow were walking through the streets of San Francisco. Midpoint explained to Cozy about what was going on.
"So, the project that made you an otter and what made Maria a hedgehog was almost based on this Project: SHADOW?" Cozy Glow asked.
"That's right," Midpoint said. "Although, my grandfather made my skin indestructible. Nothing can penetrate my skin. So, all of my shots had to be turned into pills so I can remain healthy during cold and flu season."
"Good call," Cozy Glow said. Just then, a blue blur went past them. The two looked towards the direction where the blur went. Cozy Glow then asked, "Was that Sonic?" Then the horn of a big truck came from behind them and they saw something coming towards them.
"Cozy! Watch out!" Midpoint said, pulling Cozy Glow out of the way. She was pushed towards the sidewalk. Midpoint's right foot was ran over. As soon as the truck passed over, Midpoint cried out in pain. He pulled his foot in and put pressure on it. "Sweet Jesus!! That truck broke almost every bone in my foot!!"
"No way!" Cozy said. "You said that you were indestructible!"
"My skin was indestructible!" Midpoint replied. "My insides aren't! Call the hospital!" He then cried out in pain. Cozy Glow then pulled out her cell phone and dialed a number.
Sonic then lost the large truck as it tried to chase Sonic into a tunnel. Sonic then went into a passageway that led to a sewer.
Back in the Castle of Friendship, Maria was looking at the footage of the hedgehog that was fighting the one robot who was guarding the classified project. Maria was squinting her eyes at the image. Then she widened them in shock.
"No... It's impossible," Maria said.
Then Spike walked in with two cups of hot chocolate. He then asked, "What's impossible?" Maria then looked over at Spike with a saddened look.
"I know who that is," Maria said.
"You do?!" Spike asked. "Who?"
"The very hedgehog which this body I have now is based off of," Maria said. "Shadow."
Back in the states, at a museum, there was a Chaos Emerald being displayed.
Then someone's reflection appeared on the glass.
The figure then smashed the glass. Then alarms started buzzing. Later, the figure ran out of the place. Then a bunch of flying robots came in sight.
The figure looked at the robots and smirked. He then said, "This should be fun." He then jumped towards the robots and smashed them all.
In the San Francisco Medical Hospital, Midpoint was laying in a bed with his broken foot elevated. Cozy Glow was also in the room, along with the doctor.
"Well, Mr. Lynol, your bones should heal up in about three months," the doctor said, looking over the exams.
"Or maybe a week," Midpoint said. "Last time, my tail got shattered and it got healed in almost two weeks."
"Well then, we'll see you next week," the doctor said. "I'll send a nurse to get you a wheelchair and a pair of crutches."
"Okay, doc," Midpoint said. The doctor nodded and headed out. He then looked over at Cozy Glow and said, "So, Summer break is almost over. You ready to get back to school?"
"I heard that we're gonna get a new teacher in my grade," Cozy Glow said. "Sasha was just talking to me about it last week."
"Well, that's odd," Midpoint said. "Meh, I'll look into it later. Hand me my tablet." Cozy Glow then handed Midpoint a tablet. He then typed on it and saw a news alert. "Huh? What's this?" He then tapped on the news alert and it showed up in a full screen on his tablet.
"News alert. Sonic the Hedgehog has broken into the California Academy of Science and stolen a precious Chaos Emerald," the News reporter said.
Back in Equestria, the rest of the Freedom Fighters, minus Amy, the Mane 6 and Spike were watching the news.
"Sonic the Hedgehog has become a wanted fugitive for stealing a top secret from the government, and now has stolen the Chaos Emerald that the scientists at the Academy are thinking about using for creating alternative power," the News reporter continued. "The authorities are still in pursuit of the fugitive hedgehog."
"Nicole! Stop the footage!" MC said. The footage of the mysterious hedgehog stopped. "Who is that?!"
"I don't know," Tails said. "But this guy looks a lot like Sonic."
"I don't mean to be a bother," Maria said. "But I think I know who he is."
"What?!" the Freedom Fighters and the Mane 6 asked in unison.
"You couldn't believe me when I say that you guys weren't the first Mobians I've met," Maria said. "I had a very special friend back on the ARK. If it's him, I need to know why."
"Nicole," MC said. "Tweak the image's brightness." Then the image changed. They were watching and when they saw the hedgehog's form, they all gasped. "We need to find Sonic immediately."
It was night time in San Francisco. Somewhere, a man hole cover was moved off, and out came Sonic. Sonic looked around and sighed in relief.
"This game of tag is boring," Sonic said. "I'm out of here." Just then, something came towards the blue hedgehog.
Sonic got surprised and said, "Hmm! Finally decided to show up, eh?" He then pointed at the machine. "Okay. Bring it on!" The machine then fired towards Sonic, who jumped out of the way.
Meanwhile, at the Golden Gate Bridge, the black hedgehog was looking down at the police cars that chased him. Shadow grimaced towards the police.
"These pathetic humans," the hedgehog said. "They will pay for what they've done." He then got a flashback.
The black hedgehog and Maria, who was still a human at the time, were running into a room together. Shadow was looking around. Just then, a capsule surrounded him and he gasped.
"Maria? What are you doing?!" the black hedgehog asked.
"I'm sorry, Shadow," Maria replied. "But you're going to have to go down to Earth without me!"
"Maria! NO!!" Shadow said, banging on the glass.
"Promise me just this one thing," Maria said. Then a GUN Agent from the time came in and shot Maria.
"MARIA!!" Shadow called out.
Maria then fell down to the ground, pulling the lever down with her. But before the capsule dropped, Maria said one last thing: "Sayonara, Shadow... the Hedgehog."
The flashback ended. Shadow clenched his fist and said, "I promise, Maria. I promise... revenge!" He then slide down the the railing and past the police cars.
It then went back to Sonic battling the mech. Sonic smashed through the mech and it fell over. Sonic then walked away, but then he heard someone clapping. Sonic looked towards the trashed mech.
"What?!" Sonic asked in shock.
Standing there was Shadow the Hedgehog. He was giving a dark smirk at Sonic while clapping his hands.
"Well, well, well," Shadow said. "If it isn't the blue wonder. I was hoping I'd get to meet you."
"Who are you?!" Sonic said. But then he noticed something that his look a like was holding.
"It all starts with this..." Shadow said, holding up the Emerald. "...a jewel containing the Ultimate Power."
"That's the... Chaos Emerald!" Sonic then slowly started walking towards Shadow. "Now I know what's going on! The military has mistaken me for the likes of you! So, where do you think you're going with that Emerald!" Shadow didn't respond. Sonic then charged towards Shadow. "Say something! You fake Hedgehog!"
"Chaos... Control!" Shadow said, before he disappeared in a flash of light.
Sonic then turned around and saw Shadow on top of a building. He then said, "Wow, he's fast! Hey, it's not his speed, he's using the Chaos Emerald to warp!"
"My name is Shadow," he responded. "I'm the World's Ultimate Life Form!"
"Ultimate Life Form, eh?" Sonic asked. "Well then, let's see what you got!" Sonic then started running. Shadow then followed.
At Eggman's base, Eggman was watching Shadow chasing Sonic. Doctor Eggman was pleased that he had a powerful ally. Just then, he remembered when he first met Shadow.
In a flashback, Doctor Eggman was surprised to see who came out of the capsule.
"Sonic?! How did you get here?!" Doctor Eggman asked. But then he got a good look at the figure. "Wait a minute. You're not Sonic. Who are you?"
"My name is Shadow," the figure responded. "I was created by Professor Gerald Robotnik, and I can grant whatever you want."
"Really?" Doctor Eggman asked.
"Yes, and to show my gratitude, I shall be at your command," Shadow said. Just then, another robot came in, similar to the one that Sonic had fought in the present.
"Rotten timing!" Eggman said.
"Let me show you how do deal with it," Shadow responded. Shadow then charged at the mech, and smashed it.
Back in the present, Shadow and Sonic were still running. Shadow was then creaming Sonic into a pulp. Sonic was crying out in pain.
The Spirit of Freedom was coming over the air of San Francisco. They saw the battle between the two hedgehogs. In the Spirit of Freedom were MC, Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Maria, Mutt and Rarity.
MC grumbled and said, "That guy's wiping the floor with Sonic!"
"Shadow..." Maria said with tears in her eyes. "Why?"
"How are we going to stop this fight?" Twilight said.
"I don't think we'll be able to!" Rainbow Dash said. "Police, incoming!"
The group looked ahead and saw a bunch of police cars driving towards them.
"Shoot!" MC said. He then flipped a few switches and the Spirit of Freedom went into stealth mode.
"What are you doing?" Twilight asked.
"We must save Sonic," Rarity complained.
"If the police see us saving Sonic, we'll get under the government's skin," MC said. "Luckily, I took a picture of the two fighting. I'll edit the picture to show that it was Shadow doing the crime. Sorry, Maria."
"Shadow..." Maria said, looking down at the fight.
Shadow then punched Sonic towards the upcoming police cars.
"I hope to see you again," Shadow said. "Prepare to meet again. Farewell." Shadow then disappeared.
"Shadow, who is he?" Sonic asked. But then the police cars surrounded him. "Huh?"
"Freeze!" a police man said. "Sonic the Hedgehog, you are under arrest!"
"Oh, great," Sonic said. He then tried running, but then his communicator beeped. He then answered. "What is it?"
"Sonic, it's no use!" MC's voice said through the communicator. "You have to surrender. I promise, we'll get you out of this predicament."
"Are you sure?" Sonic asked.
"Don't worry," MC said. "We got proof. We'll get you out of prison."
Sonic sighed and held his hands up. Sonic then said, "MC, I hope you know what you're doing." The cops then came up to Sonic and put handcuffs on him. He was then escorted to the police cars.
Doctor Eggman was escorted to a dark room by Shadow.
"This is the place, Doctor," Shadow said.
"What is this place?" Doctor Eggman asked, looking around.
"This is where your grandfather's greatest weapon is," Shadow said. "The Eclipse Cannon."
"Eclipse Cannon?" Doctor Eggman asked.
"It's a very powerful weapon," Shadow replied. "It can be powered by the Chaos Emeralds."
"The Chaos Emeralds?" Doctor Eggman asked.
"Yes," Shadow said, placing one of the Chaos Emeralds into one of the slots. "We need to find all of them, and we'll show the power of the Eclipse Cannon, and the world will cower in fear."
"And I can get them to do my bidding!" Doctor Eggman said. He then laughed evilly. Shadow then smirked.
"Boy, if that's all you want," came another voice. The two looked up to see Rouge hanging upside down from the ceiling. "I thought I'd lend a hand." She then held out the Chaos Emerald she had.
"A Chaos Emerald!" Shadow and Doctor Eggman said in unison.
"Well, if you want it, I want in," Rouge said, gliding down. "Oh, and I know where we can get three more Chaos Emeralds."
"You do?!" Doctor Eggman asked. "Where?!"
"The same place you broken into last night," Rouge responded. "Prison Island."
"What?!" Doctor Eggman asked. He then groaned angrily. "I can't believe we're going back to that eye sore. Well, at least it'll be worth it to show the people of the world to see who will be in charge. Thanks for the help, grandfather."
Shadow then thought of something. His best friend from before he was in suspended animation. Maria Robotnik. He then looked towards Rouge and asked, "When do we leave?"
Back in Equestria, Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Tails and Amy were getting into the X-Tornado.
"Okay," Twilight said. "When the five of us are going to get Sonic out of prison, you guys go to the President and try to get him pardoned."
MC, Maria, Mutt, Rarity, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy were getting into the Spirit of Freedom. MC was looking towards Twilight and said, "Don't worry, Sparkles. We'll get Sonic pardoned. And with this proof, he'll be as free as a bird."
Maria was sad that Shadow was the one doing the crimes. MC got into the pilot's seat. Then the X-Tornado and the Spirit of Freedom took off.
"Why the sad look, Maria?" MC asked, looking at the girl.
Maria looked at MC and said, "I don't understand why Shadow is doing this. He would never do this."
"Something must've happened a long time ago," MC said. "When was the last time you saw him?"
"Well, it was when I was still human and I..." Maria said, but then she gasped. She then remembered when she was falling over after she got shot. "Oh, no. He thinks I'm dead!"
"It must've been that moment that made him snap," MC said. "Now, we got to get to the President. And fast." MC then pushed a lever forward and the Spirit of Freedom started going faster.
In the X-Tornado, Tails and Twilight were in the front seats while Amy and Applejack were in the back seats. Rainbow Dash was standing on the wing.
"So, Tails," Rainbow Dash said. "Where are we going to find Sonic?"
"According to the government records, Sonic has been locked up on Prison Island," Tails said.
"Prison Island?!" Twilight asked. "I heard that's the most secure prison in the entire world!"
"Don't worry," Amy said. "If I know Sonic, he'll be busting out of his prison cell as soon as we get to him."
Meanwhile, in one of the Prison Cells of Prison Island, Sonic was locked up. And his prison cell was in a dome surrounded by water. The back of the cell had a lot of writing and formulas on the wall.
"I hope you can get me out of here, guys," Sonic said. He then looked up at the camera, knowing that a bunch of guards were watching him on the monitors.
