//------------------------------// // The Perfect Pear // Story: My Little Pokémon // by Amarvax //------------------------------// Alola Region. Poni Island. Day. Within the Alola Region, a gateway to Equestria could be found. Nothing too special. However, what was special was the Pokemon nearby. Appearing across the land was one of the Guardian Deities of Alola. Tapu Fini. The Guardian of Poni Island. It carried a thick fog around it along with droplets of water from above. Sometimes it was faint. Sometimes it was visible. But in this instance, with no one to interact with at the moment, Tapu Fini's fog was essentially invisible. "Hey, dad...Was that Tapu Fini?" A boy pointed upwards, swearing that he could've seen Tapu Fini passing by at blinding speeds, becoming a blur afterwards. "If you did, then it was probably moving too fast for me to spot it. But lucky you, finding it." "Wow...Wait? What does Tapu Fini do? Besides making fogs. I know that." "Well, that fog is Tapu Fini's speciality. Even if it's all that it has going for it, it has many varieties." The father sat down with his son to explain things to him a bit more. "But there is one trick that Tapu Fini can cause with the fog. And that's show loved ones." "Loved ones?" "That's right. Tapu Fini's fog can bring back those that have passed away for a while into the land of the living. Right here. Any deceased person or Pokemon can be reunited with others. It might even last forever." "Wow, that's amazing!" "Terrifying is the keyword for it. The reunion is sweet, but if you're not cautious, you could be trapped in an endless fog with little direction. But Tapu Fini is kind enough to let it end soon." "So, when does it make that fog? I've never seen it before." The boy scratched his hair. "Tapu FIni is said to do it for those who deserve it. Who knows...maybe now it's wandering for that exact individual to meet with their loved ones from beyond." Speaking of Tapu Fini, The Land Spirit Pokemon had then felt something within it. Its attention was drawn to the gateway leading to Equestria. Nothing was calling it from beyond, perse. But Tapu Fini chose to approach it. With its mystical instincts at work, the Land Spirit Pokemon had passed through the gateway, entering another world. Equestria. Ponyville. Day. Over at Ponyville, Apple Bloom was currently riding on the back of her Skiploom, moving across the streets. "Skiploom! Skiploom! Ski-" But Skiploom suddenly came to a halt the moment she and Apple Bloom saw a horde of ponies coming their way. They closed their eyes as the ponies were all in a hurry somewhere. "Hm?" Apple Bloom, after surviving a stampede of rushing ponies had turned her attention to where they were heading at. And it seemed to be a small store of some sort. The little earth pony went over to this store that seemed to focus on pears. Skiploom carried her there to the front, using her high skipping abilities to her advantage. Once there, the old pony in the front lathered some flapjacks with what looked to be pear jam. Apple Bloom liked what she was seeing as she took the flapjack once it was offered to her by the old pony. "Thank you! You must be new. I'm Apple Bloom." The little pony introduced herself. "I'm Grand Pear." "You mean welcome back to Ponyville." A pony had said to Apple Bloom. "Grand Pear was originally from here before he opened his famous pear jam store in Vanhoover." "Really? Why'd ya move back?" She asked. "I uh..." Grand Pear smacked his lips, squinting his eyes. "Well, I needed a change of pace." "Huh." Apple Bloom could take that answer. Seemed simple and straightforward enough. She then gave one of the pancakes to Skiploom as they both took a bite. "This is delicious! I can't believe I've gone my whole life without ever havin' this." "Skiploom!" "Glad you both like it." "How much?" Apple Bloom then looked at a jar of pear jam as she just had to buy it after how well it went on the pancakes. She got ready to pay up, holding out a bag of small bits. "Nah." It was all free as revealed by Grand Pear. They found the best time to show up at this part of town. Free food that tasted good. "Wow! Thanks, Mr Grand Pear, sir! It was real nice meetin' you!" Glad that she got herself some free food, she placed the jar of pear jam in her bag, hopping onto Skiploom's back. "Come on, Skiploom!" "Skiploom!" Sweet Apple Acres. "Sceptile..." Currently, at Sweet Apple Acres, Sceptile was gazing at a plate of pancakes on the table. His mouth was wide open. His hands were being rubbed together. It was safe to say that this food was his forte. A personal favourite. "Not until everyone's ready, Sceptile." But he was quickly stopped by Applejack. Sceptile winced before backing away from the table, waiting for the right time to have them. Returning home with the jam were Apple Bloom and Skiploom. "We're back!" "Skip-Skip!" "Glad you're back, sugarcube. Just in time for breakfast for dinner." Applejack held the plate of pancakes up as Sceptile was using his vines, causing them to slowly creep up on the pancakes. "I got the perfect topper for flapjacks at the market today." "Pear jam?! What were you thinkin'?!" Applejack tossed the pancakes into the air, gasping as Sceptile's vines had missed them completely. Sceptile cried out as the pancakes flew into the air as he knew he could still save them. The Forest Pokemon brought out another set of vines that had grabbed the breakfast delicacies. "Tile!" And with perfect precision, Sceptile pulled his leaves back, causing the pancakes to fall into his mouth while the plate broke upon hitting the floor. Sceptile got his fill either way. "Sceptile..." Meanwhile, Applejack had taken the jar off of Apple Bloom's hold. She then looked outside of the kitchen room, seeing the shadow of Granny Smith lurking beyond and approaching. "Quick! Hide it!" She tossed the jar towards Big Mac as he caught it in his mouth. The stallion then smashed his hoof onto the floorboards, causing one of them to jump up. The dirt below had been revealed. "Machamp!" Machamp then started burrowing the dirt as Applejack and Big Mac joined. Their cooperative speed and strength allowed a hole to be instantly made from all of this. "Huh?" Naturally, Apple Bloom was greatly confused by this. Along with Skiploom and Sceptile. Machamp too but he was only doing what his trainer was doing. "Skiploom?" "Sceptile?" "What's the big deal? It's just pear jam." "The big deal is that there is a long-standing feud between the Apples and the Pears!" "Eeyup!" "W-Why?" Apple Bloom questioned. It sounded like a big deal for something as basic as pear jam. "Why?!" Applejack exclaimed, ready to go on a tangent. But that was when paused for a moment. Along with Big Mac. "...Well, uh, a-actually, I-I'm-I'm not really sure. You have any idea, Big Mac?" "Uhhh... nope." Neither did he. Surprisingly, despite how bombastic they reacted to Apple Bloom bringing pear jam here and them saying that she shouldn't have in the first place, neither of them knew the true reason for it." "Then I guess we should ask Granny?" "Ask me what?" Right on time, showing up to the scene was Granny Smith, scaring the older brother and older sister, but not Granny Smith. Upon her arrival, they had used their hooves to push the dirt they had burrowed through, covering the pear jar as fast as they could. "Champ!" Machamp then placed the broken floorboard onto the dirt, trying to fix it. But it had already been destroyed and Machamp's hands wouldn't even do the trick. Some hammer and nails could be a different story, however. "Uh, what goes better with apple fritter flapjacks – caramel syrup or praline!" Applejack squeed, trying to play it cool while showing her grandma a bottle of caramel syrup and praline. "Pfft! Praline." Granny Smith knocked the bottle of caramel syrup off of her granddaughter's hooves. She then entered the room, giving the area a sniff. It came from the pancakes as there were still some left to go on the table. "Oh-ho-ho, that smells great, Applejack. I'ma go wash up for supper. Be right back." Much to their relief, Granny Smith had left the house, allowing the two siblings to sigh peacefully. "Listen, sugarcube. Anytime Big Mac and I ever asked Granny about the feud or the Pears, she'd get so upset she couldn't talk. Best not bring it up." AJ explained. "O-Okay, but that Grand Pear was really nice to me, even though I'm an Apple. I wonder what happened." "Me, too. But if we can't ask Granny, I don't know who-" An idea sprung up for Applejack. There was someone for that task. "We can ask Goldie Delicious! If anypony knows about the feud, it's the family historian!" "I'm in! What do you say, Big Mac? Siblin' trip first thing tomorrow?" "Eeyup!" Elsewhere in Ponyville. They had arrived at the location of this historian. Although, the premises didn't much a place for history. It looked more like an old house that anyone could own if they wanted to retire and settle down. Apple Bloom gave a knock on the door, only to be met by random sounds from within. The doors started creaking as they were on the verge of blasting open. The siblings backed away from the doors as they were blown back by the force of an untold abundance of books. The books came flying out, forming a frantic sea of them while also piling on each other. And right on top, a group of bundled Skitty and ordinary cats could be seen rolling down. "Skitty! Skitty!" The Skitty and the regular cats meowed before scattering across the area. But there was one final figure that appeared from the pile of books. The pony that they came here for. Goldie Delicious. "Now, that's how you make an entrance! Or is it an exit?" She spoke, laughing. "Well, anyway, it's so wonderful to see you three. To what do I owe the pleasure?" Goldie asked as another Skitty could be seen popping out of her mane. "Skitty!" "Well, Goldie, we were hopin' you could tell us about the, uh..." Applejack slid in, getting close to the old pony and putting some emphasis on the final sentence. "...feud with the Apples and the Pears." "Oh." Her cheery voice deepened to a surprised and serious one. "Oh, dear. Well, does Granny Smith know you're here?" "No, ma'am. But I ran into Grand Pear yesterday, and he was real nice. Maybe the feud was a misunderstandin' or somethin', and we can fix it?" The filly questioned. "Oh, well, I don't know about that, little one. But if it's a story you're after, I suppose you have a right to know. Now, let's see, I got a stack of books here someplace... Oh!" She spotted the book as a Purugly was sitting on it. It seemed that she had a massive preference and love for cats including cat-based Pokemon. "Ugly...Pur..." Purugly dozed on the book that Goldie wanted. Right from underneath the Tiger Cat Pokemon, causing her to drop a bit. "Pur?!" "Apple Family History, Volume 137!" She opened the book, searching for the right page. "Hmm, hmm... Here we are. 'Feud with the Bears'. She read it wrong before realizing this. 'I mean, Pears'. My eyes ain't what they used to be. A long time ago, Sweet Apple Acres wasn't the only farm in Ponyville. In fact, there was another one just right next door." Years ago. Sweet Apple Acres. Long ago, before all of this crossing over with different worlds debacle had come into fruition and before there was any knowledge about cosmic entities or anything wilder, there was a young Granny Smith selling apples. A less frantic time. "Come and get your apples! Nothin' sweeter than bitin' into a crisp apple on a beautiful fall day!" She cried out, showing her apples to everypony. There were even Apple Pies to look forward to and such. "Unless, of course...you could bite into a juicy pear." But right next to this Apple stand was a pear stand. And commandeering that stand was a pony selling pears. This was a younger Grand Pear. "Pfft!" Granny Smith scoffed. "Please. Pears are just what happens when you ain't no good at farmin' apples." She said with visible disdain, polishing her apple. "Pears are nature's candy. Apples are sour. Like the expression on your face right now." He gave an impish chuckle at Granny Smith. The two of them started arguing back and forth. And this constant arguing led to their customers backing away, not buying anything from either of them. But they weren't aware of this until their squabble ended for a while. And so it went. Granny and Grand Pear were always at each other on who was the best farmer or who took better care of their trees. If Granny read to her trees at night..." The voice of Goldie narrating the story said. "...And then, the little tree reached his branches up to the moon, and the moon said, 'Good night.'" The young Granny Smith read a story during nightfall. It would seem strange to read to trees, but she wasn't the only one who interacted with them in this way back then. She looked over at Grand Pear who was staring at Granny Smith. Granny gave a cocky smirk at her fellow earth pony as even during the night, they were still at odds. Why, then Grand Pear had special blankets made for his trees so they wouldn't get cold. From Goldie's narration, Grand Pear would do the same to his trees. Oversized blankets were his response as they covered the trees with their tremendous size. "Good night, trees." He gave his trees a slight kiss before looking back at Granny Smith. "I've got you covered. Mm-hmm." But their squabbling didn't stop it there. It went above store arguments and nighttime feuds. Family members had been dragged into the madness. When the Apple Family would kick the trees to make the apples fall, they would look over at the other farm, seeing the Pear Family pick apples from the trees via ladders, giving that same disdainful expression they always carry. And the Pear Family would do the same. In fact, all the Apples and the Pears were rivals to the core! The only Apple and Pear whoever got along were Bright McIntosh and Pear Butter. Two foals, around the same age as a baby, could be seen on opposite sides. Due to their age, it would make sense for them not to be on the same wavelength as their family members. Pear Butter was moving along before hearing a voice call from her via the other side, right at the Apple Family Farm. A fence was between the two farms. "Pssst!" Bright Mac's voice came through, alerting her. "I'm not supposed to talk to you." He whispered. "I'm not supposed to talk to you either." So did Pear Butter. "My mom says if you hold a buttercup under your chin, it'll make your chin glow. But it doesn't work on me. See?" He showed her as their discussion leaned more on the typical child talk. Not on the level of bickering that their opposite family members go through. Pear Butter, curious, went up to the buttercup flower, putting it near her chin. It worked for her as it started glowing. "Does it work on me?" For a few seconds, Bright Mac's eyes were dilating upon seeing this glow on Pear Butter. Due to his young age, the most obvious reaction came from him as his heart was beating fast. "It sure does, Buttercup." He had been lovestruck. Impressionable love at such a young age was nothing new. Fairly common. "Buttercup. I like that name." said the little filly. Both of them shook hooves as they had immediately formed a new bond between two unlikely sides while their family members were not even close to bonding. Current day. "Wait an apple-pickin' minute!" Applejack interrupted the story. "Bright Mac and Buttercup? Those are our parents' names! "Of course, Buttercup was just a nickname your father gave your mother. Pear Butter...well, that was her given name." Goldie explained. "Are you sayin' our mother was a... Pear?!" She gasped, prompting her siblings to gasp as well. Sceptile and the other Pokemon didn't gasp, however. All of this was new information to them. "So we're half-Pear?!" Big Mac finally spoke. "I can't believe it! How did we not know? Did you know?!" Perplexed by this revelation, Applejack held Sceptile, shaking him vigorously. "Wait, you couldn't know..." "S-Sceptile..." "Well, uh, nopony called your mother Pear Butter." Purugly then brought over a chalkboard that was incredibly dusty. Goldie then cleaned the dust, revealing two different jars. "And her cutie mark was a preserve jar, but pear butter don't look too much different from apple butter, so no clues there. "Is there...anythin' else you can tell us about them?" AJ asked. "I know they loved each other very much. They had that magical, star-kissed, other-side-of-a-rainbow kind of love." Goldie hugged some of her cats and a few Skitty. "You couldn't be around them too long and, and not feel a little bit lighter than air yourself." "Anything else?" said Apple Bloom. "Hmm... I'd need Volume 138 for that." She started searching for another book once more. By looking up, there was a Liepard sleeping at the top. She truly had all kinds of felines with her at this humble abode. "Liepard...!" Liepard snarled, not wanting to get off of the pile of books as it found this spot comfortable. That would leave Goldie with some struggles to get the book she needed. "I'm sure I could wrangle it... in a, in a couple of days." That's all right, Goldie." Applejack sighed. "It was... nice just to hear-" "Ooh-hoo-hoo!" Cut off, Goldie jumped back down. "I just remembered somethin'! Your dad and his buddy Burnt Oak would get in all kinds of trouble together as colts." "Burnt Oak? The firewood salespony? I haven't seen him in ages." A swift memory came through Applejack's head. "He and your dad were thick as thieves back in the day. Y'all should talk to him." Goldie suggested as the three siblings and their Pokemon left the area full of books and felines. And during all of that, arriving here as fast as it had left Alola was Tapu Fini. The Land Spirit Pokemon heard the story, concealing itself in the trees. After seeing the story end, Tapu Fini then followed the Apple Family without making a sound at all. They ended up back at the marketplace of Ponyville. There, the one they were searching for, Burnt Oak could be found. He soon saw the Apple Family approach. "Well, well, if it isn't the Apples. What can I do for ya? I know you're not here for firewood. You got more trees than anypony in Ponyville." "You're right. We're not here for that." The mare shook her head. "Come to ask about your dad?" "Uh...Eeyup," said Big Mac with his usual signature catchphrase. "I wondered if you might. Hoped you would. It's nice to talk about him." Burnt Oak laughed." We had a lot of laughs. In fact, this one time..." Burnt Oak was ready to give out a story. Another one for the Apple Family. And there to watch and listen to it all was Tapu Fini, concealing itself within the trees and shadows. No one in Ponyville had spotted this Guardian Deity recently. "Fini..." Years ago. We were racin' to see who could till the fastest, and Bright Mac was leavin' me in the dust. He would've won, too, if he wasn't so... distracted. Back then, the two of them were having a till race with Bright Mac being superior in speed despite his size. To add to that, he was still fairly young yet he looked like a grown-up at the same time. But even though he was ahead of Burnt Oak, his attention was quickly drawn somewhere else. Just next door, Pear Butter, or Buttercup as he nicknamed her, could be seen nearby. Because of this slight distraction, he was thrown off course. So off course that he ended up crashing right into a water silo that was on the other side. This was due to him going straight through the fence that was in between both farms, thus the silo belonged to the Pear Family. The water from the silo spread out rapidly, covering Pear Butter for a while as the area had been flooded and drenched in water. "Pear Butter, what did you do?!" Grand Pear showed up, witnessing the liquid destruction that had been done. "I-I'm not sure." Pear stammered, not giving a clear answer. Even though she witnessed the destruction, albeit seconds later before it had drenched her. Bright and Burnt hid within a bush to conceal themselves. Their heads had poked out from it. Bright Mac could see that Par Butter would quickly stop it, so he chose to come upfront about it, being honest with it. "She didn't do it, sir." He said, showing himself as Burnt Oak gulped, hiding his head back in the bush. "Excuse me?" Grand ear's head quickly shifted to Bright Mac's position. "The water silo. It was my fault." Instead of leaving the blame to her, Bright Mac revealed the truth. He then looked at Pear Butter, causing her to giggle. With his hat on his chest, showing his honesty, Grand Pear wasn't a fan of this interaction between the two. "You owe me a new silo, boy! [to Pear Butter] And you, come with me." Grand Pear shouted, bringing his daughter along. "No daughter of mine is gonna make goo-goo eyes at an Apple!" Despite what he said, Pear looked back at Bright with a smile. Bright Mac, much like earlier before, couldn't help but make a melting face just by looking at her. A young Burnt Oak was greatly confused, shaking his hoof in his friend's face, trying to snap him out of it. But that was pointless. Current day. "Grand Pear never would've known it was your father's fault." Burnt Oak spoke. "But there was no way he'd let your mother take the blame for somethin' he did." "So Dad was super honest! Apple doesn't fall far from the tree, huh, Applejack?" Apple Bloom nudged her big sister. "Your dad worked the Apple farm all day and then headed over to the Pears on his breaks to fix the water silo. I didn't see him for weeks! Not that he minded. Gave him a chance to get to know your mom." "Did you know our mom, too?" The filly asked. "Buttercup was a real peach of a Pear. But if you want to know more about her, you should ask Mrs Cake." That was as far as Burnt Oak's knowledge went. Luckily, the knowledge of this family had been passed on throughout Ponyville. "Mrs Cake?" Both Applejack and Apple Bloom said. "She and your mom were inseparable when they were fillies. Know where to go next?" "We sure do." Applejack stood up. "Off to SugarCube Corner. Thanks, Burnt Oak!" "Uh, would it be okay if we stopped by again sometime to hear more stories?" Big Mac was curious about the stories. He found them to be great reelers and time killers. Time consumers can be fun a lot of the time. "I'd like that very much." Of course, the friend of their father agreed to it. "Fini." Tapu Fini had just finished hearing another story of this past experience. With its intrigue peaked even more, Tapu Fini followed the Apple Family again in secrecy. It seemed to be judging them greatly. SugarCube Corner. "Slur...puff..." Currently, a Slurpuff was asleep. One of Pinkie Pie's. The rest of the Slurpuff's whereabouts were unknown but they were most definitely with their Trainer. "Hm. Food coma. Take right after your Trainer." Mrs Cake giggled, patting Slurpuff on the belly. The Meringue Pokemon giggled whilst in its sleep. At the same time, the Apple Family had just arrived. "Well, cinnamon sugar on toast! All three Apple siblings!" "Hi, Mrs Cake. And uh, Slurpuff." Applejack greeted them both despite Slurpuff being asleep. "We heard you and our ma used to be real good friends, and we were hopin' you could tell us a bit about her." "Oh, I would love to. I never knew the right time to bring it up. But I'm so glad you came!" She laughed before noticing Machamp creep up on the fridge. "Machamp!" "Ma!" The Superpower Pokemon froze, being caught in the act. "You have an unhealthy food obsession here, don't you?" Mrs Cake shook her head. "Can't blame you though. Hehe. Now, about your mother. Uh, for starters, did you all know that it was your mom who convinced me to pursue baking?" "But isn't your name Mrs. Cake?" Apple Bloom asked as she was for sure that Cake was her true name and it fit with her Cutie Mark and everything. Meanwhile, Tapu Fini looked through one of the windows, still managing to conceal itself in the shadows. "Champ?" Machamp, who was near the fridge, noticed something in the corner of his eyes. He turned around, only to find nothing. Tapu Fini hid itself before Machamp could fully see. "Machamp?" "Not always. Back when I was Chiffon Swirl, heh, I had no idea what I was supposed to do." Mrs Cake's true name had been revealed. "But one day, your mom brought me some candied pears, eggs, flour, sugar, and vanilla, and told me to just be creative! Next thing I knew, I was whipping up pear upside-down cake, and I got my cutie mark! It was like she knew what I was supposed to do long before I did." "Tile?" Sceptile looked over at Applejack's Cutie Mark, wondering if that's how it truly worked for his Pokemon Trainer and everyone else. "Yeah, Sceptile. That's sometimes how it works." Applejack nodded before looking at her little sister. "And Just like you, sugarcube! Or rather, you're just like her!" "That was the first of many cakes for me, and Buttercup was with me through it all." Now it was Mrs Cake's turn to share a moment of the past that involved the parents of the Apple Siblings. Years ago. Back then, Pear Butter or Buttercup would be of great help, assisting the young Mrs Cake aka Chiffon Swirl at the time with everything at an older SugarCube Corner. Cakes of multiple varieties were made because of this splendid teamwork. Some that may have never been possible without Pear Butter's assistance. She'd be my taste-tester, help with the decorating, and prep new ingredients. Over the years, I perfected my recipes. Your mom did so much for me. One day, I wanted to surprise her with a cake. Mrs Cake had a cake with a pear on top, all meant for Buttercup. But the moment she went to the location that her friend could be found in, she quickly hid after spotting something surprising. Just ahead, Bright Mac could be seen with her. Time had passed and their bond had grown significantly for them to start hanging out at this point. Even having a picnic as they laughed together. Bright Mac got some flowers, only to find out he was slightly allergic to them. "Achoo!" That caused a sneeze for him. The flowers were blown back by the sight force of wind, causing them to land on Pear Butter. But they fit perfectly either way as she laughed still. Afterwards, they both leaned in for a kiss. Upon witnessing this, Mrs Cake felt like she probably shouldn't be watching right about now. With her face turning red, she slowly backed away, only to step on a twig. That twig crack halted the imminent kiss, causing them both to be alert. But there was nothing to fear as Mrs Cake showed herself. "Oh. It's just you." Pear gasped before sighing. "Sorry. I just brought you a little something to say thank you. But I see you're busy. Hah." She walked up to them as the duo had their faces turn red next. "Promise you won't say anything?" Pear pleaded to her friend. She could keep that promise, no problem. However, a bad case of timing had approached as a slightly older Granny Smith had shown up, picking apples. She then looked over to see the trio together and one of them was a Pear family member. "What in tarnation are you doin', Bright Mac?!" She roared, stomping over. "We do not fraternize with Pears! Ptooey!" She spat on the ground to show her disdain. She then bit on Bright Mac's ears, dragging him away from the area. And as always, a running theme was that Bright Mac and Pear Butter would still have some time to look at each other, giving a wink. "You and Bright Mac?" Mrs Cake chimed in. "Whew, I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. Your families hate each other." "I can't help it. We just sorta... happened." Then Pear Butter told me the sweetest love story I have ever heard. As more time passed, the two ponies from opposing families spend even more time together, regardless of how many times they had been pulled away. Sitting atop the hill with another picnic and looking over at the sunset, Bright Mac had something to give. "Happy one hundred and thirty-one thousand, four hundred and fifty-six hour anniversary, darlin'." He said, placing a buttercup flower on her head. "What?" She laughed for a bit. "That's way longer than we've been together." "I know, but it's the anniversary of the first time I called you 'Buttercup'. It's okay if you didn't get me anythin'" "Actually... I did." Her gift was larger than a single flower. She revealed a guitar to Bright Mac. "A guitar?" He grabbed the guitar. "For me? But..." He strummed it for a moment, not getting a good toe in the beginning. "I don't know how to play. "Quiet you." But instead, the gift was something spiritual instead of physical as Pear took the guitar back. She would be the one to play it, singing a song to Bright Mac. "We're far apart in every way But you're the best part of my day And sure as I breathe the air I know we are the perfect pair On a prickly path that goes on for miles But it's worth it just to see you smile And I cannot be pulled apart From the hold you have on my heart And even if the world tells us it's wrong You're in my head like a catchy song." This was a song about their relationship. The one thing to never ignore about this union was how they were both from families that were opposing each other. And because of this unlikely union, their bonding was something special. Even if their families would pull them away from each other constantly. At the end of the day, it was nigh-impossible to separate them forever. Especially when they can't stop thinking about each other. Whether it be during days when both families were selling their respective fruits, they would interact with each other in secrecy without even saying a word. Actions spoke louder than words in their instances. Sometimes, they would even sneak off together without their families watching. "Wow. It's just... wow." Bright Mach said with a chuckle. "Do you like it? Be honest now." "It's the best gift you could've given me!" Honesty was natural to him so this came from the heart. Pear Butter continued the song afterwards, bringing up more about their relationship and the days that have come and gone with it. "The seasons change and leaves may fall But I'll be with you through them all And rain or shine, you'll always be mine On a prickly path that goes on for miles You're the only one who makes it all worthwhile And you should not blame me, too If I can't help fallin' in love with you..." Rainy days and snowy days meant nothing to them when they were together. It was safe to say that years have passed and their relationship was still going strong either way. "Hey, no fair. I was gonna tell you the same thing." He said, leaning up to her. "You're just mad I beat you to it." She smirked, pushing him aside. Bright Mac then placed his hat on her head. "I'm tellin' ya, I was gonna pull you up, cover your eyes, lead you over here..." He then started leading her somewhere over the hill. "...and say, 'Surprise!'" He had then revealed a rock that had a carving on t. A carving of a heart and two symbols. A pear jar and an apple. "And then you'd say..." He then started imitating Pear Butter with a voice change. "Oh, Bright Mac, I love it! And then I'd say I love you. Too bad it didn't work out though." "Eeyup. Too bad." It was soon revealed who invented the Eeyup catchphrase for Big Mac to don. Pear Butter was responsible for that. She and Bright Mac then hugged each other while standing in front of the rock. All of this was pure. Their love was pure and inseparable. But there was one little issue that came up that could potentially break it apart. And it came in the form of a few days, where Grand Pear entered Pear Butter's room for a shocking revelation to her. "The Pears are moving!" Current day. And in the current day, the Apple siblings had gasped. Fittingly back then, when that news came to Pear Butter, she had an equal gasp as well. Runs in the family. "I mean, I figured the Pears moved, but I didn't know all that stuff happened before with Granny and Grand Pear." AJ was aghast. "It must've been really hard on our parents." Apple Bloom held Skiploom close to her. "S-Sceptile...!" Both Sceptile and Machamp started tearing up, just for Applejack and Big Mac to wipe their tears. "Tile! Sceptile!" "S-Slur..." Even while asleep, Slurpuff teared up. Almost as if it could hear the story while asleep. Though, it had light crying instead of a deep one that Sceptile and Machamp were going through. Tapu Fini had heard enough. After listening to a good chunk of the story, the Land Spirit Pokemon made up its mind. It backed away from SugarCube Corner before ascending into the air. "Fini...!" High enough in the air, Tapu Fini had cast its signature fog. The fog that it always carried with it had intensified, becoming visible. Once visible, it started wrapping itself around the entirety of Ponyville. The skies were being blocked off by its appearance, replaced with the thickness of it. Everypony was made aware of this. How couldn't they? The skies changed so drastically. Little did they know that this wasn't a typical weather shift. This was the result of Pokemon magic in store. "Sceptile?!" Sceptile gasped, noticing the fog. He, the Apple Family and Mrs Cake looked outside to see that Ponyville was now fog central, covered from all directions by Tapu Fini's fog. Once the fog had been fully wrapped around the town, Tapu Fini continued its wandering. It had one thing in mind. The Apple Family as it was the group the Land Spirit Pokemon had focused on the most. But now, Applejack, Big Macintosh and Apple Bloom along with their Pokemon were in for a surprise. That went for everypony else in Ponyville as they would soon gain knowledge of Tapu Fini's fog and what it entailed as the journey continues. Chapter 669 End.
