Ponyville was busy getting ready. Today was Heart and Hooves Day where ponies can express their special somepony with a wonderful gift that they made. It was a special holiday that the ponies enjoyed.
Everypony was excited about this. Except for one person and that someone was a certain draconequus. Discord, who was feeling stressed about this.
Now Discord was aware that Heart and Hooves Day was here and there were two reasons why he was suddenly stressed about this.
The first reason was that he enjoyed spending time with Fluttershy since she was the first one to accept him as a friend when no one else could.
His second reason for was that he not only enjoyed being Fluttershy's friend, he had been starting to develop feelings for the pegasus. In fact, he began to feel a strange feeling in his heart. It was thumping more faster than it usually does whenever he was thinking of Fluttershy. It wasn't long until he realized that he was falling in love with her, but he wasn't sure if she felt the same way as he did. So he decided that he would make his friend a Heart and Hooves Day card. But he also decided that if he was going to make a card for Fluttershy, he would make it by hand. That meant that he would have to make the card without using his magic.
But there was a problem that why he was so stressed about this. Since he decided that he would not use his magic to make Fluttershy's card, Discord had no experience of making something without magic and that that results of this would end up looking really bad. He was worried that if the card he'd make turned out to be really bad, Fluttershy would reject his card.
As he was trying to think of what to do about this situation, Discord did not notice that Apple Bloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle were walking by when they stopped. The three fillies saw that the draconequus looked really tense as he was pacing back and forth. Knowing that something was going with Discord acting this way, the Cutie Mark Crusaders approached the draconequus from behind. Sweetie Belle approached Discord, lifting up a hoof.
"Um, Discord? Is everything okay?" she asked, touching his paw.
The moment the unicorn filly spoke and touched his paw, Discord yelped as he jumped in surprise before turning his attention to the filly and her friends.
"Don't do that!" Discord said. "That really scared me."
"Sorry, Discord," Sweetie Belle said. "Didn't mean to scare you."
"Yeah," replied Scootaloo. "We just noticed that you were acting really tense and nervous about something."
"Is there something bothering you?" asked Apple Bloom. "If there is, maybe we can help you."
Discord rubbed the back of his head with his paw nervously. He was unsure if he should tell these three about his problem and how they would be able to help. But the thought of Fluttershy filled up in his mind, telling him that he should tell them what was going on with him.
Finally, he made his decision. Taking a deep breath, he looked as the fillies as they looked at him, waiting to hear what he had to say. He told them how he had begun to develop some feelings for Fluttershy, his decision of making a card without magic to give Fluttershy for Heart and Hooves day, and why it was making him feel all worked up and stressed.
After he finished his story, the CMC looked at the draconequus in surprise before Scootaloo finally spoke.
"So you're saying that the reason you are so stressed is that you want to make Fluttershy a Heart and Hooves Day card without using your magic?"
Discord nodded sheepishly.
"And your reasons for doing this is because you have begun to develop feelings for Fluttershy?" Apple Bloom asked next.
Discord sheepishly nodded again. The fillies were quiet for a moment as Discord blushed in embarrassment.
Finally, Sweetie Belle spoke up. "That's so sweet!"
Discord looked at the filly in surprise. "Wait?! You're okay with it?"
Sweetie Belle smiled as she looked at the draconequus. "Why wouldn't we be?" she said. "That is so romantic! We know that you and Fluttershy have been good friends, but I never could have imagined that you have started to fall in love with Fluttershy. It's so romantic!"
Her two friends nodded as they looked at Discord. "But that's no reason to be so stressed about this," said Apple Bloom with a smile. "I'm sure Fluttershy will like whatever card you make for her."
"But if it makes you feel any better," Scootaloo said, "We can help you make the card for Fluttershy."
Discord looked at the Cutie Mark Crusaders in surprise. They were offering to help him make the card for Fluttershy. "You three really want to help me?" Discord asked in surprise.
Apple Bloom approached the draconequus. "Of course we do," the young earth pony said cheerfully. "It wouldn't be right of us to ignore somepony who needs help with something that they put their whole heart into. Especially on Hearts and Hooves Day."
Scootaloo nodded before she turn her attention to Discord. "Let's go and help you work on that card."
"Yeah!" said Sweetie Belle. " We have a lot to do before Heart and Hooves Day is over!"
The three fillies trotted off as Discord followed after them.
The fillies spent the next few hours with Discord, showing him how to make a card by hoof as he tried to get the hang of it. There were some mistakes that were made as they tried to make the card until Discord finally got the hang of it and made the card for Fluttershy.
Soon, Discord and the Cutie Mark Crusaders arrived at Fluttershy's cottage, the fillies hiding behind a bush as the draconequus nervously approached the door with the card in his paw. Discord looked at the fillies, feeling nervous.
Sweetie Belle motioned her hoof, telling him to go and knock on the door.
Gulping nervously, Discord knocked on the door. The door opened and out came Fluttershy. The moment she saw Discord, she said, "Discord! What brings you here?"
Discord slowly held out the card to the pegasus. "I...have something for you. Happy Heart and Hooves Day."
Fluttershy looked at the card in his paw before she takes it from him. Discord's card was in the shape of a butterfly and was decorated with lace on the wings and heart shaped patterns.
As she was reading what the card said, Discord nervously bit his lip.
When she finished reading, the pegasus looked up at the dranconequus with closed eyes. "Discord, there is one thing I want to say about this card."
Discord felt his heart beating faster while the hidden CMC held their breath as they waited to see what the pegasus would say.
All of a sudden, Fluttershy opened her eyes as she had a smile on her face and said, "I love it!"
The moment she said those words, Discord looked at her. "You love it?" he asked, his heart filling up with joy
"Of course I do! This is the most wonderful card anypony has ever written to me!" Fluttershy said in glee. "Thank you so much!"
With that, Fluttershy jumped into Discord's arms as she happily hugged him. Discord was surprised for a moment as she hugged him as she nuzzled against his fur before he smiled. He cradled Fluttershy in his arms as he gently stroke her mane.
Still hidden in their hiding spot, Apple Bloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle smiled at this, happy that it all worked out well in the end. Finally, they snuck away quietly, knowing that their work with helping Discord was done and wanting to give him and Fluttershy some private time together on Heart and Hooves Day.
