The Frost Pony lie in her den, snoring softly. There was a flash of light, and suddenly Scarlet Flame appeared in the air, before falling a short distance right into the giant's tail. There were a few moments of struggle before Scarlet emerged, a blush adorning her cheeks. She spit out crystal shards, wiping her muzzle before freezing as she remembered the elephant in the room. Slowly, silently, she turned around to check that the Frost Pony was still asleep. The quiet snoring continued. Scarlet let out a relieved sigh. Taking in her surroundings, she was in a small cave of sorts. She tentatively poked her head out of the entrance, elated to find that she could still see the treeline of the forest, although it looked to be at least a mile away.

She stole a look back at the slumbering giant. All the ponies so far had gone missing at night, so perhaps this creature was nocturnal. Judging by the position of the sun, she could tell it must be somewhere around the afternoon. Suddenly, there was a hungry growl behind her, and the Frost Pony stirred slightly. Deciding not to stick around, Scarlet bolted.

Adrenalin pumping through her, Scarlet ran like she never had before. She ran and she ran, never once looking back. The cold wind bit at her exposed legs, made ever colder by the fluids soaking them, but she ignored it as she galloped for her life. It simultaneously felt like an eternity and a minute, but just like that Scarlet found herself crossing the treeline into the forest. A part of her wanted to turn and look behind her, but she dared not. She slowed her gait to an urgent trot. With ragged breaths she continued on, ignoring her protesting muscles, until a familiar town came into view. She hobbled and stumbled her way closer, until finally her legs failed her and she collapsed. She gasped for air, her fur burning from the cold. Through bleary eyes she could see figures galloping towards her. The last thing she heard was a voice shouting, "She's hurt! Somepony get help!" And then she blacked out.
