Helping Megan fit in

Understanding and accepting changes

After sharing several stories that made them feel as if they had something in common, Megan started to understand that she wasn't so different from Twilight.

"Maybe we're not so different after all." said Megan.

"It seems that whatever story you seem to have, I seem to have something that is almost similar." replied Twilight.

Megan then started to say, "Maybe it's just me saying this, but sometimes changes aren't always for the better."

Twilight then asked, "What do you mean by mentioning this?"

Megan mentioned, "In reality, change can go either way. For some cases it can feel good, but in other cases in can feel bad. Back in my hometown, it became almost unrecognizable thanks to gentrification."

Twilight started to ask another question to Megan, "What exactly is this gentrification you speak of and what exactly defines it?"

Megan answered, "Gentrification is when a city or town loses places that used to originally define it for a good number of generations due to being priced out. For example, we lost a number of mom-and-pop shops for chains and corporations that you can find almost anywhere. Also, there were a number of people that me and my family used to know who are now replaced by hipsters and even yuppies who we have little to no interactions with."

Spike then added, "How come you and your family still live there despite all of those changes?"

"It's mostly for two main reasons. The first reason is that the ranch isn't somewhere that realtors would consider prestigious at least not for now. The other reason is that ever I did help save the ranch by placing it on several social media sites that manage to get customers both near and far, which is why my family can still manage to survive even though much of my hometown hasn't." replied Megan.

Twilight commented, "At least you should be glad that you and your family are still able to live there despite all the changes."

Megan started to sigh and say, "However, I still feel like a stranger even where I live especially seeing places that I'm not used to, and the same sort of applies here as well."

Twilight then asked, "How is that so?"

Megan then mentioned, "When I was last here, this was called Ponyland, not Equestria. Also, there weren't places such as Ponyville, Canterlot, Manehatten, Las Pegasus, Fillydelphia, Seaquestria, the Crystal Empire, and so many other places that still feel new to me. Whenever I look at Paradise Estate, it's one of the few reminders of what was left of what was once the places that I knew."

Twilight then made another comment to Megan and said, "Whether this is Ponyland or Equestria, you're important to us ponies both past and present, but I'm starting to wonder what's really bothering you lately."

Megan then answered, "Perhaps, the real issue has been trying to fit in with what's here now especially when I haven't been around for what's considered thousands of years in your time, plus sometimes it can be very hard to make new friends as if you have to start all over again."

"It's never too late to make new friends. Also, we're here for you now not to mention are descendants of some of the ponies that you once knew." replied Twilight

"That's another thing. You're their descendants, but you're not them. Even if you shared some of their personalities, you're still not them." mentioned Megan.

"Making new friends doesn't have to be difficult, and it's only the case if you allow for that." replied Twilight.

Megan then said, "The truth is that the ponies I used to know we're the closest I had to friends especially since I never could make any friends with my own kind back in my own world, but now I know that they're gone for good."

Twilight started to ask, "Do you know that sometimes we like to sing the song "A True, True Friend"?"

Megan then asked in response, "What about that song?"

As Twilight replied, "We do believe that you are one to us. Believe or not, you did help someone who was in need especially when you helped Luna not only get over her fear of becoming Nightmare Moon, but also helping her seek forgiveness after all she did in that form. She even thanked you for your help. More importantly, you didn't need some adventure to show how much you are still important to us."

Megan commented, "It's not as if she can no longer become Nightmare Moon ever again, and I'm sure that if it wasn't me, you or even Celestia could have helped her with that."

Twilight mentioned, "That might be true, but because of you, she now has better control of it, and I doubt that anyone else would have been able to do what you did. Although I'm the Princess of Friendship, I would have no clue to where to start, while Celestia would most likely brush it off and claim that she was overreacting. However, it was you who was able to reach out to her on that very issue. Even though Luna represents the moon, you were the stars that helped guide her in that situation. One other thing, when she mentioned about Tantabus, it was something she made that would give her nightmares if she ever took that form again, but it backfired, and she still became it anyway despite that."

Megan then noted, "I never thought about that."

While Megan, Twilight, and Spike were having their discussion, the rest of the Mane 6 started to come over and wanted to know what it was all about only to find out that Megan is claiming that present day Equestria isn't for her with each of them asking or making comments on trying to understand why.

Rainbow Dash asked, "What do you mean by not fitting in?"

Applejack then mentioned. "I still feel as if we have only just met."

Rarity claimed, "The ponies that come to my store really do enjoy your clothing."

Pinkie Pie questioned, "Does this mean you are no longer our friend?"

Fluttershy stated, "Just when I was starting to get used to having someone like you around."

Megan explained, "In reality, getting used to new things does take time, and it's not something that can be achieved overnight. I will admit something here. Except for Spike, I have seen each of you more times than I have seen your ancestors. Also, there are times where some of the things you do remind me of them, but in the end, you're not them."

Rainbow Dash then said, "I'm nothing like my great grandmother who happens to have the same name as I do."

Megan asked, "Is it because you happen to be a Pegasus while she was an earth pony?"

Rainbow Dash answered, "That is true, but it has more to do with the fact that she always liked to dress in style when that was usually never the case for me."

Twilight started to mention, "Megan, when you started to cry over when you heard about the ponies you knew that sacrificed themselves to stop Grogar, we each put our hooves on your back to understand how you felt. We realized that you really did care about them. What you displayed was only natural to that. As a matter of fact, I did cry over losing something as well."

Megan started to ask, "What exactly did you cry over losing, Twilight?"

Twilight answered, "I didn't always live at the Castle of Friendship. Originally, I had resided at the Golden Oak Library along with Spike. However, that was until Lork Tirek destroyed it, and I barely got out with Owlowiscious, who was my pet owl. In the process, I lost a lot of my books that I have never seen again since then. The castle where I live in now was given to be by the Tree of Harmony to help replace what I lost."

Rainbow Dash added in and said, "If you don't think I don't cry over losing something or someone, I can still remember how sad I was when I had to let Tank, my pet turtle, go to allow him to hibernate, and I usually don't cry over anything."

Megan then stated, "I can see that maybe we aren't that different after all when it comes to losing things."

Twilight started to state, "Sometimes we have to learn to accept changes whether we like them or not and learn to move on from them."

Megan mentioned, "Maybe you're right Twilight, and changes can be good, but I still don't know if any of you really do see me as a friend considering the time I used to come here before any of you were born."

The Mane 6 started to sing the song "Friendship Through the Ages" to show that she really did belong as well as make the claim how even with new ponies, Megan can be friends with them.

Megan then thought, "As much as I do enjoy seeing new settings and new ponies along with other creatures, I do feel as if I should take a break from coming here. I feel that even a friends should be allowed to have some time to themselves at one point. However, it doesn't mean that I will be gone forever."

"If that's what you want, I won't argue against that, plus the portal will always be here when you're ready to come back." replied Twilight.

Megan the decided to hand over the locket to Twilight and mentioned, "Perhaps, you should have the Rainbow of Light since you don't have the Elements of Harmony anymore. Right now, you probably need it more than I do as a form of protection should any other evil forces come around Equestria. Seeing that it's an Equestrian artifact, it probably belongs here anyway rather than with me."

Twilight started to mention, "You should keep it, Megan. This was yours from the start, and it will remain with as long as you live. There's a good reason why the Moochick gave it to you in the first place. He was sort of expecting a human such as yourself to be there to help stop Tirac. As a matter of fact, I did some research on this and found out that according to a prophecy, it's so powerful that its powers can only be wielded by a creature of that like no other hence a creature that's not native to Equestria or even Ponyland in that matter. In other words, you're the only one who can really use it as it would be useless if we try to."

Megan then said, "I don't understand why you want me to keep it despite the fact that it's from your world."

Twilight explained, "The point is that Rainbow of Light is rightfully yours now as it was then ever since you were declared its keeper by the Moochick himself, and even Star Swirl approved of you having it when he saw you with it, and he knows a lot more about Equestrian artifacts than I do. For some reason, I feel that your adventures aren't exactly over. If Grogar was able to escape the Realm of Darkness despite being unable to get out of there originally, he can probably escape from space as well. However, when he will return again is still unknown to this day."

Megan then stated, "When he returns, I want to be there this time to face him this time, because I don't on plan on missing out on that battle unlike the last one."

"We'll be there to fight with you should he ever return." replied Twilight.

After hearing that, the Mane 7 waved good-bye to Megan as she went back through the portal ready to enjoy her break from coming to Equestria.
