The portal opened up in Mobius, specifically, Whale Lagoon. Our heroes jumped out of the portal and landed on the sandy beach. The portal closed and everyone took in their surroundings. Sonic put his hands on his hips and took in a deep breath. He then exhaled happily.
Sonic then turned around and faced his team, "Welcome to Mobius."
Twilight and Spike widened their eyes in excitement.
Twilight took a slow step forward, "You mean, this is your home world?"
When Sonic nodded, Spike cheered in excitement while Twilight looked beyond happy.
"I always wondered what Mobius would be like." Twilight said happily.
Sonic chuckled, "Well, now you can experience it first hand.....Or hoof."
Peter took in his surroundings, noticing the various floating platforms, spikes, and traps, "This place looks like a level out of a video game, but it looks peaceful," Peter then stepped forward, "I might retire here."
"You and me both." Miles said.
Sonic smirked, "Well, this place is called Whale Lagoon, one of the most peaceful places on Mobius.......Except for the Killer Whales," Sonic shuddered in fear, "I hate those things."
Shadow then smacked Sonic on the back of the head, "Will you focus, Faker!" Shadow then crossed his arms as Sonic rubbed the back of his head, "We have a job to do. The doctor and his allies obviously wanted us here for an unknown purpose. We have to find out why."
Sonic walked forward and got in a crouched position, "We can head to my place in Mystic Ruins and figure that out," he then turned his head towards his friends, "Just follow me, and try to keep up."
Sonic then boosted forward, unknowingly launching sand into Shadow's face.
Shadow looked beyond angry, "Oh you son of a....." Shadow then clenched his fist and got in a starting position, "YOU'RE DEAD MEAT, HEDGEHOG!!!"
Shadow then skated after Sonic in a rage.
Twilight turned to Peter, Miles, and Spike, "Guess we better catch up before Shadow kills Sonic."
Spike then walked forward and smirked, "Yeah, or before you decide to nerd out even more."
Twilight smirked, "What was that?"
Spike then took to the air, "GOTTA GO!!!"
Spike then flew off into the distance. Twilight chuckled and flapped her wings and took flight, "Get back here, mister!"
As Twilight took off, Peter and Miles turned to one another.
Miles quickly shot a line of web, "Last one to the end is an aging Vulture!"
Miles then quickly swung away as Peter shot a line of web, "You cheater!!!"
Peter then swung after Miles, determined to beat him in the race. Twilight caught up to Spike and nudged the baby dragon slightly, both of them giggling in joy. Shadow chased after Sonic, who looked back and blew a raspberry at the Ultimate Lifeform.
"YOU'RE DEAD!!!" Shadow shouted as he pointed at his rival.
"GOTTA CATCH ME FIRST, ULTIMATE SLOW FORM!!!" Sonic taunted.
Shadow gritted his teeth, "GET BACK HERE!!!"

Unbeknownst to them, a window like portal was watching them from the sky as the team made their way through Whale Lagoon.
The window projected what it was seeing through a monitor in the villains base in Netherworld. Eggman sat in his chair and stroked his moustache while Otto stood beside his ally. They then heard the door leading into the room open and they turned around to see Sombra enter the room with an angry look on his face.
Eggman arched an eyebrow, "Where have you been?"
Sombra growled in anger and opened his mouth to reply, but sighed in defeat and simply walked over towards them, "Forget it."
They then turned back to the screen and observed the footage.
"It appears that the second phase of our plan has officially begun," Otto said to his allies, he then turned to Eggman, "Have any of our forces located any of the Emeralds?"
Eggman shook his head, "Not yet. But don't worry, we already have one, all we need to do is find six more then we're golden!"
Sombra stroked his chin with his hoof, "Remind me again why we wanted the fools to be on Mobius?"
Eggman sighed and turned to the dark unicorn, "Because if our forces can't find any of the Emeralds on their own," Eggman then turned to the screen and smiled, "Then those idiotic heroes can lead our forces to the Emeralds they find."
"But what if they gather the Emeralds before our troops?" questioned Sombra.
Otto then chuckled, "That won't matter, even if they manage to gather them all, they'll bring them right to us when the time is right."
"Just have patience, Sombra. Everything will work out the way it's supposed to." Eggman added.
Otto then turned to Sombra, "How're our 'guests'?"
"They're getting to know one another, which isn't surprising considering those ponies always sprout on about 'friendship'...Bleh!" Sombra stuck his tongue out in disgust.
Eggman then frowned, "I still think it's a mistake to keep them alive, but we do need them for what is to come, as much as I hate to admit it. But once they've outlived their usefulness, then we'll destroy them!"
Sombra then frowned, "Who said we're going to get rid of them after they've outlived their usefulness?"
Eggman then looked angry and curious at the same time, "WHAT?! It's a given! Of course we're going to destroy them after they've fulfilled their usefulness! Why would we even consider keeping them alive after that?!"
Sombra rolled his eyes, "That would be too easy, Ivo. We should relish as we make them watch their greatest fears come to life! They can't do that if their dead!"
Eggman jumped out of his chair and kicked it away, "THAT HAS TO BE THE DUMBEST THING I'VE EVER HEARD!!! THEY SHOULD BE DEALT WITH SO OUR GOALS CAN GO UNCONTESTED!!!"
Otto then slammed them both to the wall with two of his mechanical arms. They struggled to break free, but Otto wasn't going to let up that easily, "ENOUGH BICKERING, YOU INGRATES!!! HOW CAN WE EXPECT FOR OUR GOALS TO BE REACHED IF WE ARE CONSTANTLY AT EACH OTHER'S THROATS?! WE SHOULD BE FOCUSING ON DESTROYING OUR ENEMIES AND REWRITING THE ENTIRE MULTIVERSE!!! I WON'T HAVE MY REVENGE BE DISRUPTED BY YOUR CONSTANT ARGUING!!!"
Otto then let them go, causing them to fall to the floor. Eggman and Sombra looked at one another and growled at each other before standing up and dusting themselves off.
"He is right, you know. We should be focusing on our goals. How about this? Once we have the Sinister Egg Core online, then we decide on how to properly dispose of our enemies? Sound fair, your majesty?" Eggman asked with sarcasm clear in his voice.
Sombra huffed and turned away, "Very well. Let us focus on our goals."
As the two villains walked away, they sneered at one another while Otto made his way back to the monitor. He grabbed the chair with one of his arms and sat down in the chair to observe the screen. He then began stroking his chin in thought.
"Hmm. Their constant bickering could be a complication. But I will have to deal with it at a later time," he said as he leaned closer to the screen, "Until then, some heavy observation will be required."
