My Little Pokémon

by Amarvax

In comes the Friendship Games.

The Human World. Outskirts of the forest. Day.

"Right there." Ash had currently brought Professor Oak along with him to discuss the random time crack in the sky that was just sitting there. He was hoping that he would have something to say about this. "It's still here too. No idea if anything's passed through it."

"Hm. Are you sure it's from Dialga, Ash, my boy?" Oak asked.

"Yeah. I recognize that look." He confirmed. "What do you think we should do about it? I don't know if we can close it."

"We can't close it. But!" Oak snapped his fingers. "What we can do is prevent anything else from passing through. Time is a fickle thing, Ash. It can't be messed with too much, or else everything will either be knocked off course or split in something new and unpredictable."

"Yeah, I gotcha. Time stuff kinda confuses me a bit. But how are we gonna keep something from going through it then? Is there a Pokemon that can do that?"

"Not exactly. Not that I know of. But I can make something. I didn't just travel around sightseeing and observing Pokemon, you know. I was and still am an avid inventor in my own right. With the power of science!"

"Really?!" Ash's eyes shot up with stars as he was a big fan of science thanks to Clemont's inventions. "Science is so amazing!"

"Just give me four days and I'll have something up and ready. Oh, but you should be getting to something in a few days as well, right?"

"Oh yeah. The Friendship Games in this world are coming up. I'm gonna cheer Twilight on to victory. Pikachu and all of my Pokemon."

"Pikachu!"

"You do that. As for me...I think I'll stay behind in Canterlot for a while." Professor Oak put his hand on his chin, closing his eyes and letting his imagination run wild. "That Pokemon School is interesting but the history of this place intrigues me even more."

"Oh yeah. I never learned the whole history of Canterlot before." Ash looked up. "I gotta ask Celestia." Ash and Professor Oak left to head back to their world. Not before stopping by Canterlot, the way they were able to enter this world, of course via a mirror portal.

Crystal Prep Academy. Day.

Meanwhile, at Crystal Prep Academy, lessons were ongoing right now with students scattered everywhere. Only a few minutes until break time. And walking through the hallways was Twilight. But she wasn't alone. Inside of her bag was Zorua. And Spike as well.

"Why do I have to stay in here?" Zorua asked with her voice going through the bag via telepathy

"Because I'm not sure if Pokemon are allowed in the academy." Twilight explained. I know Spike is but I can't play it too safe. And Pokemon aren't exactly adjusted to yet."

"At least I get to eat all the food in here."

"Huh?" Twilight froze for a moment before turning around. "Zorua's that's my lunch-"

"Twilight Sparkle." Just then, interrupting Twilight at the most awkward time where she was talking to her backpack of all things was the principal of Crystal Prep Academy.

Principal Abacus Finch.

"Mmm!" She stood up tall, facing the principal as Zorua stayed quiet with Spike's head popping out of the bag. "Principal Finch! Y-Yes?"

"Can I talk to you for a moment?" She made her fingers perform a gesture as Twilight followed her into her. Zorua then started to secretly eat Twilight's food silently, keeping it all to herself. "It's about the Pokemon. You started taking interest and learning about them the moment we all became aware of their existence."

"Right. I did."

"And how is that going at the moment? Because some of our students are having issues, even with that Poke Ball that you gave them. Pokemon run rampant near where they live. Some are having issues staying awake in class and studying because of them. I would assume you've found a way to handle it like you said you would."

"I do. Honestly. There are a few ways but it's mostly the Poke Balls. I don't have enough for everyone. Or a whole town. Or more. But I've learned a lot about them thanks to my friend, Ash."

"Ash? Again, you've been bringing up that name as of lately? Should I know who Ash is?" Abacus asked.

"No. You see, Ash is..." Twilight paused for a moment, trying to explain this to the principal. She was afraid that she wouldn't believe her but then again, they all have been exposed to the Strange and Wonderful creatures known as Pokemon. "He's an experienced Pokemon Trainer. He's the one who came up with the idea of giving out Poke Balls and helping me learn about them."

"Hm. Well, if you have someone who is adept in all of this, then that's a good sign. But even still, I have good faith in you to figure this out. You've never failed me before."

"I won't with this. But uh...quick question." Twilight was going for a risky question. "When everyone eventually manages to overcome this Pokemon issue, do you think they'll be allowed in here?"

"Pokemon? In this academy?" She adjusted her glasses as Twilight scrunched her mouth, nodding slowly. Cinch thought for the moment about the concept of Pokemon being here. She rotated, giving it some thought. "If these magical creatures are going to be a part of our daily lives from now on...I'll give it some thought. In the meanwhile, I look forward to seeing what else you've found out about them. Hopefully witnessing an abundance of these Poke Balls."

"Well, I have some with me. Ash gave them to me." Twilight then dug into the side pocket within her bag to show the natural Pokemon Starter Equipment. In her hand, she held out 5 Poke Balls. "Here. I used one already so there's only 5 in my possession right now."

"So you have your own." Abacus took one of the Poke Balls off of Twilight's palm, observing this mysterious item. She was impressed at how this small spherical object had the power to contain these powerful creatures.

"I don't have enough yet. But when I do, it'll feel like everything's back to normal."

"Probably. Ask your friend Ash if there is a way to supply multiple of these Poke Balls." She then gave it back to Twilight.

"Oh. There's also something that I've been sensing over at the school far ahead. Canterlot High. Do you want me to look into it, maybe?" She asked.

"Canterlot High? Is it more Pokemon involved?"

"I don't think so. But months ago, I saw so many weird occurrences happen there. Sudden cloudy skies and odd lights flaring about. I've actually been focused on that before knowing about Pokemon. It might be related to Pokemon in some way maybe."

"I see. I understand what you mean by that. I've also been witnessing odd occurrences over at that school. Mainly through the clouds."

"You too?" Twilight leaned in. "I thought I was the only one."

"What is happening over at your school Celestia...?" Cinch said to herself, turning to the side before facing Twilight once more. "Anyway. Do what you want with that. However, don't draw attention to yourself. Canterlot High and my school's students aren't exactly fond of each other. If you wish to know what is happening at that school, make yourself discreet. But it's the Pokemon I want you to pay the most attention to. Understood?"

"I understand." Twilight nodded in response."

"I'll leave everything to you as always." The principal of the academy then left, returning to her office.

"I will," Twilight said. And the moment she left, Twilight took a second to sigh. "Hah. How am I gonna get so many Poke Balls? It's not like Ash is rich to afford a bunch. Plus catching them isn't super easy too..."

Twilight then went over to her private room to continue learning about Pokemon. While also calling Ash for extra assistance. But also popping her head out of the bag was Zorua after hearing the conversation between Twilight and Abacus.

"She's scary." Zorua shuddered.

"Who? Principal Cinch?" Twilight turned to the Spiteful Fox Pokemon as Zorua nodded in response. "Oh, no, no. She can be intimidating but she means well."

"Really?"

"Really. I know so. I've been a student here for years and I've gotten to know her, so don't worry. Come on, let's head to my room stat."

Canterlot High. Day.

Tomorrow had arrived and Sunset Shimmer was currently rushing to Canterlot High. She was in a hurry as if something important had come up.

Waiting at Canterlot High, the outside of it, were her friends. Rainbow Dash and Applejack. And just now appearing were Rarity and Fluttershy as they were also running.

"I got your text Rainbow Dash!" Sunset exclaimed before coming to a screeching halt. "Did something come through the portal? Is Equestrian magic on the loose? Is it Ghetsis? Did Twilight come back with a problem that only we can solve?!"

"Has a giant cake monster covered all the cakes in the world in cake?!" Appearing out of nowhere with two cupcakes in her hand was Pinkie Pie, shouting out loud. She then stuffed her mouth with the cupcakes.

"Umm...Not exactly," said Rainbow Dash as she stood up, holding her guitar.

"Uh...I don't understand." Sunset shrugged.

"Well, Sunset." Applejack would spill everything. "I was just telling Rainbow Dash here that a broken guitar string doesn't really qualify as an emergency." She flicked the broken string on Rainbow Dash's guitar.

"It totally does!" But Rainbow Dash disagreed on that notion, pulling the guitar back.

"Really Rainbow Dash?" Rarity leaned in, already wearing equipment for sowing. "I was in the middle of sowing a very complex appliqué on my latest frock."

"And I was just about to tuck everyone in for the night at the shelter. Now we'll have to start stories all over again." Fluttershy also had something to say as she was holding Angel Bunny. Most of them were occupied before the text.

"Why would you send all of us an emergency text for a guitar string?" Sunset asked.

"Well, I was going to pony up and show our fans some awesome guitar licks," She aimed her arm over at the Cutie Mark Crusaders who were sitting on the steps. "But I kinda need all six strings to do it. Got any extra?" They all groaned in response to her plea. Sunset did have an extra for her within her bag.

"Here. But everyone finished practising for the day. I'm pretty sure all the music rooms are locked."

"No problem. The acoustics in the hallway are perfect for power chords." Rainbow Dash played a chord after adding the spare string." C'mon! Let's go!"

Everyone walked off to enter the school, but Applejack stopped right near the door as Sunset was the only one who didn't move along. "You comin', Sunset?" She asked.

"I'll catch up in a bit." She replied before sitting on the steps. She was about to write a letter to her friends on the other side. She can visit them from time to time, but sometimes with what happens here can occupy her. Especially considering the distance between this world and Ponyville.

This was being written to Twilight, Ash, Sonata and Aria respectively. And as she started writing this letter, a bus had shown up near the school. But only one person was getting off.

That person was Twilight. Currently, she was wearing a hoodie after Principal Cinch's advice of being discreet and her bag as Zorua was inside. Zorua was still nervous around others and afraid, so Twilight kept her safe inside of her bag.

With her, Twilight took out a device that she made for this. She aimed the device directly at the giant horse statue outside the school. This device was made to detect the odd anomalies that occur around this area. AKA magic.

This device was similar to the one Equestria Twilight had. But while that was one made to track down Infinity Energy from Legendary and Mythical Pokemon and sometimes, Ultra Beasts, this one was made to track down magic. But, it could also detect Infinity Energy since Pokemon have magic stored within them. However, no Pokemon so far has caused quite a stir like what has happened around this school. But Twilight wasn't aware that it was magic each time Sunset and her friends ponied up with a song.

Twilight then got closer to the statue as the device started going off. She recognized that it mainly came from the statue. And by aiming it at the statue, the device picked up gigantic surges of magic. This was the result of the statue having a magic portal leading to a world full of magic.

Twilight then walked around the statue, finding the sweet spot. The spot where the true portal resides was at the back of the statue. The radar kept rising as Twilight knew where to stand. After looking at the portal, she then placed her hand on the statue for curiosity.

Lo and behold, upon contact, a blue glowing pulse exuded out. It responded to Twilight's hand, believing that someone was trying to pass through. And upon touching it, Sunset, who was writing this letter, looked over at the statue to spot the hooded figure nearby, touching the portal and setting off constant blue pulses each time.

"Hey!" She shouted, grabbing Twilight's attention. Twilight gasped, turning around to face Sunset. "What are you doing?!" Sunset then stood up. In response, Twilight started running to get out of here as soon as she could. "Wait! Stop!" Sunset then started chasing her.

Twilight crossed the street and just in time for a car to get in Sunset's way. Sunset came to a screeching halt near the street as the car skidded by. Thanks to that delay and swing around a lamppost, Twilight arrived in time for the next bus. That swing on the lamp post gave her some good speed as she jumped inside of the bus.

Sunset was too late to catch up to her. The bus had already left with Twilight being carried away with it. "Who was that?" Sunset wondered. And within the bus, Twilight let out a sigh of relief. She was almost caught in the act.

Crystal Prep Academy. Twilight's Private Room. Day.

Returning back, Twilight removed the top of her hoodie, heading straight for her private room. Door after door. That's how much it took for her to return there and note what she had discovered.

And now that she had something of worth, Twilight could learn about what mysteries occur around that school that constantly seem to make her device go wild. She sat on her table, working on her device, dismantling it. Zorua was resting in the corner with one eye open, watching her trainer work.

Twilight was dismantling this energy tracker for a reason. She would transfer what she had gained and place it into something new. An item in the shape of a locket. She took the chip from the device, working her way through the locket so that it could hold what she had gathered.

After working on it and placing the final component inside, the locket had now become electronic. Twilight had made a simpler radar compared to the bigger one she had before. Fittingly, it had her emblem in the middle, glowing purple. The whole thing was purple with some blue here and there.

"Twilight. What are you doing?" Zorua jumped on the table, curious about Twilight's work.

"Just an easier way to see what goes on around Canterlot High." Twilight held the locket up. "Looks like it's magic. Just like how Ash said he comes here via a magic portal that's at Canterlot High. I didn't think it was true, but it looks like it."

"Are you going through it then?"

"No, no. I'm not going through it. I have no idea what's on the other side. Plus, there's already one other portal in our world that's made me cautious." She referred to the gateway leading to Eindoak in Unova. "With this, I can see what's causing all of that magic to happen. The portal didn't give off the same crazy signatures I was expecting it to. So it's something else."

"That stuff sounds boring. I'm hungry."

"You already ate, Zorua. All of my food that is..." Twilight uttered.

"Sorry. They just taste so good." Zorua whimpered, sitting on the table and pouting.

"Don't worry." But Twilight could forgive her, rubbing her hair. Zorua enjoyed that as it made her tail wiggle. "But you and every Pokemon give off magic as well, Zorua."

"We do?"

"Mhm." Twilight held her pendant out at Zorua. "For you, magic is a constant thing that keeps going. But it looks like you don't need to rely on it despite how much there is. It's always there no matter what. Makes me wonder how much this'll spike up if a Pokemon battle occurs."

"I didn't know I had magic." Zorua looked up, putting her paw on her mouth. "Can I do spells then like a wizard?"

"Uh, I think Pokemon moves are your answer to that." She chuckled. "We'll see just how much magic this thing can find and hold."

"Hold? Where?" Zorua walked around the pendant.

"I made it so that it can hold magic too. And to think, I didn't believe in magic back then." Twilight slumped on her seat. "And now I'm friends and living in a world with magical creatures with a magic portal of a horse to boot. I can't say this year's been boring, that's for sure. Come on, Zorua. Since you liked my hamburgers so much, I'll give you some I've kept safe."

"Hooray!" Zorua jumped for joy as Twilight would feel not only her but Spike. Obviously, Spike wasn't getting hamburgers, those were not safe for him. As for Twilight, she had an easier way to find magic in the form of a basic accessory. How nifty.

Canterlot High. Library.

Over at the library, Sunset was telling her friends what she had just witnessed earlier today. It was impossible to not talk about that statue interaction.

"She was definitely doing something to the statue – or was going to," said Sunset as she paced back and forth.

"Do you think she came through the portal from Equestria?" Fluttershy asked as she patted Angel Bunny on the head while he hid in the bag.

"No, I'm pretty sure I woulda noticed that. I think she was from over here." But Sunset unconfirmed it.

"Well, that's a relief." Applejack replied, slouching on a chair with her feet on the table and arms behind her head. "The last thing we need is another magical so-and-so bent on world domination comin' over from Equestria." Applejack winked at Sunset, obviously referring to her. Sunset took no offence in that as she smiled back at AJ.

"Agreed. I have no interest in another fight against the powers of evil magic." Rarity scoffed. "The wear and tear on my wardrobe is just too much to keep up with. I narrowly escaped some hungry Rockruff or whatever it was called since it was so attached to my boots. At least Pokemon have good fashion sense."

"Still, a mysterious figure snooping around the portal? Don't you wanna know what she was up to?" Sunset asked.

"I don't even wanna guess." Fluttershy shuddered.

"Well, you don't have to. Because I've totally figured out who it was!" Appearing from the side and holding a book was Rainbow Dash.

"Ooh, ooh! A nighttime statue cleaner?" But Pinkie intervened, having other books in mind. "A magical portal maintenance maintainer? A gardener?!

"Seeing as how they got off a bus from the city and got back on a bus headed to the city, I'll bet they go to..." Rainbow Dash was waiting for them to all get the right answer.

"Crystal Prep." All but Sunset Shimmer said with disappointed sounds. Principal Cinch was right. Canterlot students and Crystal Prep students are not fond of each other at all.

"Yep. With the Friendship Games starting tomorrow, they'd totally try to prank us by defacing the Wondercolts statue," said Rainbow.

"Why would anyone take a bus all the way from the city for that?" A curious Sunset asked.

"Because the Crystal Prep Shadowbolts are our biggest rivals?" Applejack replied.

"Because that's just what the students at Crystal Prep would do?" Rarity followed.

Because even though they beat us in everything – soccer, tennis, golf – they still have to gloat!" Rainbow Dash finished it off by showing a page from the book, viewing the Shadowbolts and their many trophies. Plus defeated Canterlot Students on the side as she flipped each page to show a different result.

The final page she showed Sunset was an image of the Canterlot High Statue being violated via a clown costume. From the red horn, colourful afro, funky shoes and more.

"Seems kinda silly to me." But Sunset didn't think too much of it.

"Silly?!" All of them said together.

"So I guess you think the Friendship Games are silly, too." Rainbow Dash gave an unamused face.

"Well, it's not like we'll be fighting the powers of evil magic," replied Sunset.

"No. We'll be fighting against a school full of meanies. Not everything has to be magical to be important." Fluttershy went up to her, holding Angel Bunny and placing one hand on Sunset's shoulder.

"You're right. I'm sorry. I know it's a big deal."

"That's putting it mildly, darling." Rarity scoffed. "They're still revamping the playing field in preparation.

I just don't understand why there's this big rivalry. Aren't the "Friendship Games" supposed to be about our two schools getting along?" Sunset questioned.

"Well, it's kinda hard to get along with someone who beats you at everything." Only for Applejack to give the most straightforward answer she could give, holding the book.

"Not anymore! This time, things are gonna be different." In came Rainbow Dash, rubbing her hands together.

"What do you mean?" Sunset had one last question.

"Oh, you'll find out." But all Rainbow Dash could do was give off a smirk, knowing what she was about to get up to later on.

The Friendship Games were only tomorrow so everyone had to be at their best. And at the same time, Twilight had an object for magic detection and restoration, similar to the Magic Siphoning Jar with less destructive capability.

At least for now. Twilight being in the Friendship games means that Ash and Pikachu will be there to cheer her on as well as the rest of his Pokemon.

On the outside of the school, Rainbow Dash's idea of making things different came in the form of a song. But song's are good for boosting morale. Sometimes too good.

As for Ash, he had shown up, having multiple Poke Balls at his disposal after Twilight gave the request. He had a lot to carry, so he brought along a cart full of these capturing devices, passing through the portal.

"Whew. It's gonna be a long way there, now that I think about it. But if everyone's gonna get used to Pokemon and be safe around them, they'll need these more than ever." said Ash.

"Pikachu."

"We've got all kinds of Poke Balls inside of this thing. Some way better than others. And I saved one Master Ball after winning that Tag Battle Competition.." He then held up a Master Ball. The same one from the 10 Master Balls he won with Fluttershy during the Canterlot Tag Battle Contest. The ultimate Poke Ball.

But Ash looked at it, he heard music playing nearby. Music from Rainbow Dash. Both inside and outside of the school as Pikachu's ears perked up. He also saw a glow of magic occur, knowing what this was.

"Pika?"

"Looks like they're having a blast in there. Come on. Better hurry to Twilight!" Ash exclaimed before running with the cart as Pikachu rode on it.

"Pikachu!"

Crystal Prep Academy. Afternoon.

After a fairly long trek, Ash and Pikachu made it. They couldn't take the bus since the cart was too big and busy. So it was on foot. But thanks to their years of journeying across various regions on foot, they've gotten used to this, having greater stamina than normal.

"Finally." Ash sighed, standing before the door. "Okay. First time here."

"Pika-Pika."

"Wow..." He took a moment to observe the academy in all of its grandeur. "It's just as big as Canterlot High. Maybe even bigger. Guess Twilight's always in something big isn't she?"

"Pika."

"Okay. Not sure how many students there but these will be enough to-" Ash went to knock on the door, only for someone else to open it. Principal Abacus Cinch was the one who did so.

She had appeared before Ash as he and Pikachu stepped back for some space. Cinch then looked down, spotting the Alola Champion and his Electric-Type partner. She picked the perfect time to arrive as she saw the array of Poke Balls in the cart. Not just the red ones but other ones. Quick Balls, Premier Balls, Dusk Balls, Repeat Balls and more.

"My." Cinch was impressed by the stunning amount of Poke Balls inside of the cart. "What an abundance. You. Are you by any chance here because of Twilight Sparkle?"

"Yep. That's me. Nice to meet you. My name's Ash. And this is my partner Pikachu." He introduced himself as Pikachu hoped on his shoulder.

"Pikachu."

"Seems you are real. Some of the students believed Twilight made you up," said Cinch. "An imaginary friend is what they believed.

"Really?"

"But never mind that. You came at a perfect time. Just one day after I gave Twilight the request. It seems you're just as swift and precise as her."

"Guess so. Here are all the Poke Balls I could gather. Pretty great, huh? I don't know how many students there are, but this'll be enough, right?"

"Quite. But...why are some of them different? Is it just a design choice?" Abacus asked.

"Oh. Some Poke Balls work differently than others." Ash would then pick up a Heavy Ball and a Quick Ball. "Ya see, a Heavy Ball works better on a Pokemon that's heavy. Like a pound or something. And the Quick Ball works betterr if it's used before a battle. Not so great the second time. Pretty awesome, huh?"

"Amazing." Abacus then picked up a Net Ball, looking at it. "I didn't think there would be so many specifics to these Poke Balls. They all have their own uses. That is...awesome."

"Yeah, it is. I showed Twilight some and she loved it. Oh, yeah. I gotta get these in for her. Where's Twilight, by the way?"

"I'm about to speak with Twilight soon. Wait inside and keep the cart in there until I'm ready to give them out to my students. Unless you'll do the honour? You are seemingly our guest here." Abacus put her arms behind her back.

"Sure. I'll show everyone what Poke Balls can do."

"Pika-Pikachu!"

"Good." Abacus then turned to the door, re-entering the academy. "And before you ask, you can bring that Pikachu of yours along. So as long as no trouble is spread."

"You got it!"

As the journey continues.

Chapter 592 End.
