The Lost Prince

Prologue

Once upon a time, many many moons ago, in the land of Equestria, Earth Ponies, Pegasi and Unicorns lived harmoniously, playing in Celestia’s warm sun, resting and dreaming under Luna’s moonlight lullaby; all ruled by the Princess of Magic and friendship herself.

Princess Twilight was a just and noble leader, creating a legacy much like her successors before her in ensuring harmony and peace flooded the land and hearts of all ponykind. Life in Equestria was full of kindness, laughter, loyalty, generosity, honesty and magic much like the Elements of Harmony that she once shared with her dearest friends, now long since passed.

One day, as Twilight watched the world around her grow even more vibrant and harmonious as the moons went by, she knew that change was on the horizon. Ponies were able to rule themselves, chaos was under control by her trusted friend and regent, The God of Chaos himself, there had been no foes to fight, no monsters to chase away, no attempt to disrupt the foundation created so long ago by her mentors. With this in mind, the Princess of Magic decided that soon her time as ruler of Equestria would come to an end. However, to ensure that harmony and magic would continue to bless her people, Twilight summoned the most powerful of her magic to ensure a harmonious future, a new generation of Alicorn that wouldn’t rule ponies, but serve to protect the elements of harmony, to protect the ponies of Equestria from falling into the same darkness that once plagued the world. On that fateful day, made from a star and the elements themselves, an Alicorn Prince blessed Twilight’s life, bringing with him three crystals that represented each pony tribe. She named the young Alicorn, Kilmarnock, The Prince of Harmony who would one day take Twilight’s place, not as king, but as a protector for all of Equestria.

Upon the arrival of Prince Kilmarnock, Twilight began her transition of power to three pony representatives of the three tribes. She would then gift each of the crystals to them, their magic to help keep balance between the three pony kinds. However, little did Twilight know that one of these three ponies would betray her, a darkness growing in his heart for he did not feel ponies needed any sort of guidance from an alicorn, accusing the Princess of being sneaky and manipulative by ensuring a heir would take her place, no matter how many times she tried to tell the representative of the Unicorns that her son was not to be a king, but a knight of harmony, to assist the three pony tribes in leading Equestria, not to rule it.

But her words would not lessen the anger growing in his heart, creating mass panic among the masses through well thought out words, especially creating a rift between the Earth Ponies and the other two tribes slowly convincing them that as long as Alicorns lived, they would never truly be free to govern themselves.

Soon war broke out before Twilight could stop it. What followed after would change Equestria forever….
