"Hey Morty?"
"Yeah Sunset?"
"Why do you not like Rick?"
It was slightly later into the day around noon. Sunset was slightly curious about Morty's relationship with Rick.
"Well that's quite hard to answer but I'll try to anyway."
So he cleared his throat and set off.
"You see remember when I told you my parents died? Well, Rick offered to take me in. For the first three and a half years, it was alright."
"But then he started taking me places. And I don't mean like to the park or the zoo. I mean like different dimensions."
"Wait. So you're saying?" Sunset asked.
"Yeah. He took me to like dimensions that sometimes made sense. Most of them however didn't."
"Oh, and by the way, there were some very dangerous dimensions that I and he went to and barely got out with our lives. Like there was this one space monster that was chasing us and it had a good reason to chase us."
"Which was?" Sunset asked.
"We had taken its eggs. Now before you go saying that wasn't so bad I had accidentally dropped one of them. Everything went to Hell at that point."
"Well, there's something else I don't get. Why didn't someone else take you in?"
"Like who? I never got to even know my grandma because she supposedly died way before I was born. And every time I ask him about her he just says it's for me to know and you to never find out."
"Okay..."
Seeing that Morty was becoming slightly depressed she decided to change the subject.
"What about school?"
"Hm?"
"Surely you had some friends or..."
Morty just laughed. "Before I met you and the girls I had no friends. Like none whatsoever. I always got bullied and to make matters worse some of my peers had found out about Rick."
"That doesn't seem so bad."
"Well to make a long story short I got bullied twice as bad when they found out. They always called me that kid with the crazy grandpa."
"Wow. I don't know what to say", Sunset said.
There was silence for a moment then Morty said "I'm going to go take a leak."
"Ok. Just hurry back", Sunset said.
When Morty got done doing his business he was surprised to see the rest of his friends there.
"Hey Morty?" Sunset asked.
"Yeah?"
"I told them what you told me. I hope that's okay..."
"It's alright", he said.
"I for one can't imagine how you put up with him", Rarity said.
"Yeah dude why don't you just run away?" Rainbow Dash added.
"I don't know", Morty said.
But the truth was he had thought about running away. Several times. He even attempted it once.
But Rick somehow found him and made him go on twice as many adventures in a week.
"Where would I even go? I have no other relatives. None that I know of at least", he said.
"Well I suppose you could just stay with one of us", Sunset said.
"R really? You would do that?" Morty asked surprised.
They all nodded.
Morty felt himself tearing up. Nobody had ever shown him this much kindness in a long time.
"I...I don't know. I'd have to think about it", he finally said.
To change the subject he said, "So on another note uh you guys heard of a meeseeks box?"
They all shook their heads.
"I'm not surprised", Morty said. "Rick says nowadays they're almost as rare as a portal gun."
"So what is a meeseeks box? Um if you don't mind us asking", Fluttershy said.
"I don't have one on me but I'll tell you what. At school next week I'll see if I can't snag one of Ricks. It's easier to demonstrate than to explain it. Alright?"
"Okay," the girls said.
"Alright. Now that that's out of the way lets go have some fun" Morty said.
"Yeah!" the rest of them cheered.
