Wall-E: Rediscover

Impossible Discoveries

Wall-E let out a digital whimper as he sped along the path, following Eve as she also was quick in her pace but not quick enough to leave Wall-E in her dust. He kept his binocular eyes forward as he heard the vicious barking of wooden creatures making a mad dash after them, his tracks gliding over roots and branches as they were meant to do but a raised root suddenly caught Wall-E one of tracks as it wedges between the root and dirt.

"Eva!" Wall-E shouted as he tried to pull his wheels free before he began to cut through with the laser diode between his eyes, albeit very slowly. The wooden wolves catching up quickly while Eve notices her trapped companion. She quickly flys back and helps to tug on the root, but it proves futile as their hunters soon pounce out of a bush and in front of them. Eve activates her plasma gun as a last resort, aiming it at one of the beasts and waiting for them to make a move while Wall-E continues to cut through the durable root with his small laser.

Suddenly one of them begins to charge forward, leaving Eve with her only option. She fires her weapon at the closest creature, forgetting just how much power was in her firearm as the wooden beast explodes and covers the whole area in a blue flame. The blast was close enough to knock Eve back a bit as the root Wall-E was stuck in snaps, also sending him flying away from the explosion.

They land on the ground beside each other, Eve quickly looking up to check if the danger was still around but the explosion seemed to scare off the remaining opponents. She shows off with a spin of her arm as the Plasma gun is holstered back in her arm. She stood up from the ground and swiped dirt off of her glossy shell before turning to Wall-E, finding him closed up like a turtle before slowly poking his eyes out of the top of his shell.

Once he confirms the area is clear with a quick 360 degrees spin of his head, he pops his limbs out and extends his wheels before looking up at Eve with a soft "Huh...". Eve then turns around to see the base of the mountain right in front of them, she points at the path ahead while exclaiming "Directive!" before hovering forward down the path with Wall-E soon following after her but with a wobble in one of his tracks.

Twilight Sparkle was peacefully studying in her Library with her #1 dragon assistant sleeping in a basket across the room, she thought nothing could ruin her quiet evening until her front door swung open with a panicked orange mare running through. Twilight yelped in surprise while the sleeping drake didn't even stir. "Applejack!?! What's wrong?" Twilight asked worryingly.

"You gotta come see this, Twi! The Everfree jus' exploded!" Applejack exclaimed, panting from her long gallop to the Library.

Twilight stood frantically with a furrowed brow before questioning "What do you mean EXPLODED!?!"

"Applebloom told me she found aliens in the Everfree and right after she left, a blue explosion rocked the forest!" Applejack explained, her breath coming back to her before she was forced to step out of the way of Twilight as she walked out her already open door and spotted a large smokestack coming out of the forest.

Twilight was trying to find out what to think of this in her head before she froze in place after she remembered what Applejack first told her. She looks back at the orange mare before asking "Applebloom saw aliens? And you didn't detect a lie or anything?"

Applejack blushed in embarrassment before shaking her head "No, I guess I should've questioned them further..."

Twilight sighs and trots back inside, using her magic to grab a piece of parchment before grabbing an inkwell with a feather dipped inside and beginning to write a letter out loud "Dear Princess Celestia, Today Applejack encountered a strange event today..."

The path was getting steeper and began to wind around the mountain, Wall-E keeping to the inside of the path as the height was frightening to him while Eve floated next to him. The robot pair had no luck on finding any caves so far and didn't want to go all the way up the mountain but Eve decided it was best to go to 1500 out of the estimated 3000 m mountain then they would look somewhere else if no satisfactory results were found.

Wall-E was having more trouble getting up the slope because of his damaged track, one of the pieces popped loose and was swinging around as it rotated around his wheels. Eve finally spotted an opening in the wall, zooming ahead and finding a cave opening to which she looked inside and found it empty. A few rocks and stalactites were poking out of the floor while the walls and roof seemed smooth with no cracks or compromises to the structure. Eve looked back at Wall-E and gave him a thumbs-up before hovering into the cave.

Wall-E hesitantly followed her inside, looking around the natural cave while voicing awe "Woooooahh". He found Eve scanning one of the Stalactites with enthusiasm, letting out a sigh as he admired Eve. She took notice of his behavior and called out his name to snap him out of it, he shook his head before rubbing the back of his head nervously. Eve looked around the walls, noticing one of the walls was quite flatter than all other sides before her eyes landed on some boulders.

Eve giggled afterward before scanning one of the boulders lying around while Wall-E drove over to another rock and sat down on it. After the scanning finished, Eve discovered it had a similar composition to stone on earth but also calculating that the cave had to be around 5000-years-old though this would run her CPU through a loop. There were certainly no mountains in the city they had called home and the fact that the city and garbage were nowhere to be seen was even weirder, now they have a mountain from nowhere being nearly 5000-years-old or more. Eve turned to Wall-E with a worried expression before telling him "Wall-E, We slept too long..."

Wall-E shared his worry by raising his brow flaps as the HUD on both of the robots read 'Operation Recolonize: Failed'. Eve let out a sad sigh before both sat in silence for a moment, Eve looked over to Wall-E to see him looking at the stone floor so she floated over and rested beside him. She wrapped an arm around his cube frame and patted him on the shoulder.

It took Wall-E a second to look up at Eve but eventually, he did. They both looked into the eyes of each other for what seemed like forever till Eve got an idea. They could find more ruins of the humans and discover what truly happened, if their bunker survived surely others would have too. Eve then told him "We find humans ruins, discover cause!" She thanked the humans in her CPU for upgrading their speech modules so they could convey more intelligible words.

Wall-E raised his eye flaps before inquiring "Directive?" Eve giggled and nodded to which both of their HUDs then read 'Directive: Operation Rediscover'. Eve then pulled Wall-E close and gave him a static kiss between the eyes causing Wall-E's battery meter to glitch out as his warning alarm goes off. Eve laughs before floating around the cave and scanning more of the interior surface, finding ores like coal and a considerable amount of gold. She continued researching till she reached the flat surface and detected that it was all Titanium. Eve tilted her head in curiosity before banging on the wall with a fist, causing a metal CLUNK.

Wall-E perked up and looked at her before driving up close and calling out "Eva?". She looked back down at him before hitting the wall again without even looking causing another loud CLANG. Wall-E raised his eyebrows and also tilted his head, letting out a "Woah...", Eve then wiped the grim off the wall to expose the true surface. She sees Yellow and red causing her eyes to widen as she speeds up her cleaning exposing more of the wall to fully uncover the unforgettable Buy n Large logo with yellow and white surrounding it.

Wall-E takes immediate action by beginning to cut through the rock while letting out an excited chatter, the rock melting easily as he drew a square around a large area and stuck his prongs between the cracks before pulling with all of his might. Eve came up behind him and helped by pulling on him causing a chunk of stone to fall out, exposing a lever. She then looked down at the ground and realized that the door won't open with making a cut out in the ground, she brought out her Plasma gun but made it a high powered torch as she calculated the size of the door to the needed size of the cut out in her CPU.

Eve began cutting through the rock which was taking longer than she thought it would but soon, Wall-E also joined in and help cut out the shape before they both dug their hands the cracks and began to lift the large slab of stone. Luckily, they were able to lift it and toss it off the mountainside for disposal, watching as it crashed on the rocks below. The robot duo decided to take a break from lifting any other stones before Wall-E drove up to the lever for the door, eagerly pulling it and waiting to hear for the hydraulic hum, and he did as the door began to drop.

Eve and Wall-E stood at the foot of the entrance as they excitedly waited for the door to fully open. When the door slid into the cutout perfectly and Wall-E let go of the lever, the door fitted just right into the indent. Eve was the first to enter as she zoomed ahead inside, grabbing a familiar extension cord on the wall and flicking a switch as colorful lights brighten up the room. Wall-E zooms past Eve and begins to look through his old home, finding all of his knick-knacks where he left them all those millenniums ago.

Eve went in after her robot companion, looking around the untouched interior before looking up at the ceiling to a familiar hole that was now filled in with rock turned to Eve and handed her a rememberable item, one of the many Zippo lighters he gave her as a gift because of her amazement with it. She grabs its gently from his grip before flicking open the lip and spinning the flint, making the lighter ignite which draws her into a trance. Wall-E chuckled before turning around and looking at the stacked-up car batteries in the corner, looking over everyone to make sure none were damaged or expired but somehow all the batteries were in working condition and the power meter on the wall said that it was at full power.

Eve noticed the batteries too and investigated, Wall-E giving a tap on the structure's power-meter with a finger to make sure the level wasn't broken before giving a shrug. She certainly wasn't complaining but the running batteries were also another oddity, tilting her head for the second before shrugging and looking over to a small device with an even smaller screen. She was about to touch it when Wall-E reached under her arm with a VHS tape and pushed it into the slot of a bigger device before pushing the lid down and pressing play.

Eve looks back up at the screen and sees tiny humans dancing on the screen before Wall-E pulls a square Fresnel lens in front, magnifying the image and making it easier to watch. Wall-E zoomed over to the door and began to close it, slowly waiting as the door slowly lifts. He then looked over at Eve who was distracted by the movie before slowly driving back over and reaching his hand up to hers, lightly holding it as she looks back down at him. Wall-E let out a lovestruck sigh as he gazed at Eve, leading her to giggle before interlocking her hand with his.

They sat quietly, watching the film with interest before Eve realized how much time they spent watching, she directed her attention back to the Wall-E and said "We need rest, lots to do tomorrow..."

Wall-E broke out of his trance from the movie with a "Huh?" before registering what she told him and nodding, letting out a digital whine for a yawn before looking to his rotating shelves. Wall-E drove over and grabbed the remote for the shelves before making it rotate to his sleeping shelf, he paused though as he looked at the shelves beside the sleeping spot before gaining an idea. Eve watched with interest as Wall-E quickly cleared items off of the two shelves beside his before grabbing a nearby screwdriver and taking off one of the top shelves, making a space big enough for Eve to slot into the shelf next to him.

Wall-E quickly stashes the shelf in a corner before zooming back to the shelves and turning to her, showing off her new resting spot with a "Taadaa~" Eve would've smiled if she could, giggling as she hovered to Wall-E and wrapped him in a hug. Wall-E pressing his head up against Eve's while whispers "Thank you..."

Eve is then spun around by Wall-E while they still hug before she is slotted into her new shelf space and set down on the shelf. He chuckles before Eve suddenly pulls him close and gives him a static kiss, flustering him as he flops back from his systems overloading before he resets and gets back up. Eve giggles before shutting down, her arms and head slotting into the body as she shuts down on the shelf.

Wall-E then pulls off his tracks before hanging them on a metal pole, leaving him in only his wheels as he goes back to his shelf and closes up his body into his cube form, riding back onto the shelf and rocking himself to sleep like he has done every night.
