//------------------------------// // Chapter 1 // Story: Maple's Snowglobe // by StarGuardian //------------------------------// It was a a sunny day in equestria, the birds were singing, the flowers were in bloom and Twilight was on her way to help a pony who had been acting strangely. "Oh thank Celestia you're here." A blue mare sighed as she pulled Twilight into the house. "What can you tell me about the problem?" Twilight asked. "It started as soon as we moved from Clydesdale, Maple was feeling lonely about moving so we bought her a snowglobe of the movie theater we'd always visit. The moment she got her hooves on it she started smiling, which greatly pleased us, but she started gazing into it and hasn't looked up since! Please help us! You're our last hope, some of equestria's best doctors are in comas from this snowglobe!" The worried mother was starting to go into hysterics. "Hold on! What was this about comas?" Twilight asked in a worried tone. She'd fought evil creatures and saved Equestria, twice, but the idea of being put into a coma scared her. When the mother had calmed down she explained that every doctor who had attempted to help her child had mysteriously fallen into a magic induced coma. Twilight groaned but knew that she couldn't back out of this, she'd promised to help and that's what she was going to do. The door to the filly's room opened slowly and Twilight saw a yellow pony with twin pigtails sitting in the middle of it, her eyes fixed at the snow globe cradled in her hooves.. "Hello, my name is Twilight Sparkle." The unicorn introduced herself. The filly just sat there with her gaze fixed on the snow globe. "What's your name?" Still no response. Disposing of the pleasantries the purple unicorn started to magically scan the filly and the snow globe. Twilight was confused by her results. The filly was more normal than she should've been, all of her senses were somehow being stimulated and the snow globe had magically linked itself to the filly. "That's a pretty snow globe, may I see it for a second?" Twilight asked but got no response. She knew this wasn't going to be easy but Twilight grabbed the globe with both hooves and proceeded to snatch it away from the filly. "No. It's mine." Maple mumbled and clutched onto the globe tighter. A bright flash of light illuminated the room and blinded Twilight causing her to take several steps back. Blinking a few times she looked around the unfamiliar hallway that she was now in. Twilight continued down the hallway until she arrived at a theater lobby with a single door. Quickly ducking inside she spotted the filly in one of the seats. "Maple, it's time to go home." Twilight whispered to the filly. "Shh." The filly hushed her, as her attention went back to the movie on the screen. Twilight looked around the theater and saw a multitude of different ponies, including a group of ponies that looked like they were doctors. She racked her brain trying to make sense of the situation but nothing surfaced. Her eyes wandered over to the screen and she was immediately captivated by the movie, it was too wonderful for words, it even brought tears to her eyes. There was no indication of how long they'd been watching for this movie had no beginning, no end, it just went on forever without getting boring. Twilight eventually made her way back to the lobby where she found an elderly black unicorn waiting by himself. "Hello, who are you?" She inquired looking him over. "My name's Star. How did you enjoy my movie?" He smiled back. "As wonderful as it is, you've got to make it stop. It's hurting ponies." She regretfully said. "Hurting ponies? You misunderstand, I'm helping ponies." He replied with a chuckle. "Helping? They're in comas! How is that helping?" Twilight almost shouted. "Most of those ponies in there have long since lost their bodies. The only thing they have left is this movie which brings them joy. Would you deny them that everlasting peace?" He asked. "You're holding them here against their will." Twilight was getting frustrated at this point. "They're free to go at any time. Just like you are. How do you think you left the theater?" He smiled at her. Twilight searched for an argument but could find none. "But there's a mother and her child's trapped." Twilight desperately argued. "Any mother would want her child happy, right?" Star said nailing the final nail into the coffin that contained Twilight's argument. "Remember the movie?" Just remembering the small portion of the movie that she'd seen was enough to make Twilight tear up in happiness. "You win. There's nothing I can do anyway is there?" She smiled weakly. "Nope. If the globe we're inside is destroyed so is everyone who's inside." The unicorn shrugged. "But the mother is always welcome to join us." "I'll tell her that." Twilight said as she walked down the hallway from which she'd came. "Ms. Sparkle! Please wake up!" The mother was yelling as she violently shook Twilight awake. "I'm fine and so is your daughter." Twilight said as she fixed her mane. "She's in a better place." The mother tried to figure out what was going on and see if maybe she'd knocked something out of place in Twilight. "You can join her if you want." "HOW?!" The mother yelled at a volume rivaling the royal canterlot voice. "Just place both hooves on the snow globe." Twilight said as she massaged her now aching ears. Not skipping a beat the mare had both hooves on the globe. By the time Twilight looked at the two ponies there was a smile on both ponies faces as tears of joy ran down their cheeks.
