Everyone was hype about the race that is about to start and that Pinkie Pie apparently organized.
The town ponies were euphoric, not every day you witness a race or something exciting in this quiet place, so many of them were excited and tried to make the two pegasi go more than one lap, but in the end, they did not succeed.
At the starting line, both pegasi were positioned ready to shoot off while only gazing at the sky without seeing each other, each with very different motivations.
Rarity who was brought by her curiosity as well as all the gossip that had filled the town came to be the one to start the race with a checkered flag that she made herself at the time.
"Ready!!... Set!!... Goo!!!" Rarity vigorously shook her checkered flag with the help of her magic.
Pinkie Pie screamed at the top of her lungs supporting both Pegasi just like Scootaloo while Applejack was impartial, Fluttershy who at some point had arrived, did not make a sound, but vigorously shook Rainbow Dash's pennant.
The initial acceleration of both was even, but it was only by the decision of Flash to be able to say his thoughts of him to Rainbow without all the screaming of the public.
"Let's see what Sonic Boom is faster!" Flash's joyous smile disappeared as his face transformed into one of total concentration while Rainbow Dash watched him in panic and amazement at the insinuation, as well as the memory of the sound of a large explosion that had come from the Everfree forest the same day that Flash came to town.
The whole town had been scared by that event until they received a letter from the princess that it was not a matter of concern to them, that it had been an explosion caused by the experimentation of a pony, not in her crazy fantasy, she would come to think that Another Pony had pulled off another Sonic Boom, but here a second ago, someone just claimed that she can make one at will ... and that she should too.
Rainbow could only observe with apprehension as Flash gained more distance with time, it did not matter how much she flapped or force she put into her wings, she could not shorten the distance anymore, she approached slowly at the speed where her mane leaves a trail of a rainbow just like Flash left a blue trail with a cyan stripe, but there was something else in her wake, lightning or static that she felt when all her wake, that reminded her of Spitfire, where Flash had a stream of lightning, Spitfire leave behind a hot breeze that could easily set a scroll on fire, a magical phenomenon related to the release of magic that arises when a Pony has large reserves of magic like the Princess or when a Pegasus has a talent with flying and other factors.
Flash flew without difficulty between the balloon-held hoops with Rainbow silently following behind him instead of the ever cheerful and competitive personality that she has displayed in her previous competitions.
"I guess, this race is already decided" Flash turned to see Rainbow who could barely maintain control when trying to overcome the sound barrier, she had enough speed to overcome the barrier and the power of wings, but not the key to achieving it and that was being able to put one's will in the pegasus magic that makes within each pegasus.
Flash flew only with half of the tricks he knows, he did not lighten his own weight, he did not give himself impulses with his aerial jumps, but now, it was time to finish this race that was never a good opportunity to enjoy a good rival.
He already knew that Rainbow could not control when to make a Sonic boom when they were foals... and he hoped it would be different now, but it wasn’t, he wanted to observe that Sonic boom that made him be amazed when he was just a colt, go back to repeat that euphoria of eureka and now be able to compete against that pegasus that achieved the impossible and that, thanks to her, he could also do the impossible.
"I guess not everyone can keep up with their own talents" Flash thought resignedly as he released all his magical pressure and smashed the sound barrier thus eliminating that annoying barrier that can only be overcome by brute force or magic.
*BOOM!!* This time Flash's sonic wave had a greater influence of magic than the previous time, something that was shown, it could be appreciated now, even if it was a bit hidden in the electrical storm, one could see the rainbow that was generated in the Sonicboom.
"Your majesty, we have confirmed the existence of the second Pegasus to break the sound barrier... she was right, this is the era of geniuses" A Solar Guard watched in wonder when the Pegasus named Storm Flash smashed the sound barrier and provoked a SonicBoom with an expansive wave of harmony that quickened the rhythm of their magic as the wave passed by.

All the citizens of Ponyville felt invigorated when they were hit by the shock wave, many of them felt a great need to do something to unleash all this energy that now filled their bodies, but there was a pegasus that came to fruition when she suffered in the front row of the Flash's Sonic Boom.
Pinkie Pie, who watched in wonder like everyone else, suffered a few small physical tics for an instant.
“Floppy ears followed by a knee twitch and then throbbing in my left eye… Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!" Pinkie screamed in ecstasy as she was now watching Rainbow Dash with total intensity who began to accelerate behind Flash.
"What's the wrong Pinkie?!!" Applejack asked in a panic looking in all directions in panic without having caught Pinkie's excitement at mistaking that Pinkie did one of her things from Pinkie to hers that always warn her when something will happen.
"There will be a double *BOOM!!* ...Sonic Boom" Pinkie's smile filled her entire face as the sky filled with a rainbow in the form of a sonic wave causing her to remember the day she got her cutie mark, while everyone else was in awe of the entire Double Sonic Boom event.
Now without the barrier getting in the way, Rainbow was able to accelerate her speed further by closing her distance with Flash who now watched her with a pure smile that soon turned into a crazy smile.
"Let's break our limits, Rainbow Dash!" Excitement filled Flash's body again when he finally felt challenged by Rainbow, thus removing the few restrictions he had, becoming twice as light and doing an aerial jump.
*FOOSH!!* Flash propelled himself fiercely like a freshly fired projectile from a weapon, Rainbow not understanding how Flash accelerated so fast but replicated his kicking action something that surprised her when it made contact with something solid for a moment to later be propelled forward.
'Flying faster will cause a greater strain on my wings... but there is no more clue to try' Flash was about to think of becoming one with the air to eliminate the last resistance to reach his maximum speed, but seeing how close he was of the finish line, he just accelerate with one last aerial jump for his dive.
"FLASH WINS THE RACE FOR A SONIC STORMBOOM!!!" Pinkie Pie screams euphoric as she sees Flash arrive first along with the other spectators and a Rarity passed out from such intensity on a turquoise velvet sofa with some jewels as decoration.
“S-SHE DID IT!!!”
Flash canceled all of his momentum with the same technique he used as a colt by kicking into the air a bit before hitting the ground and performing a few somersaults to eliminate the rest of the momentum.
Rainbow arrived shortly after with a perfect landing on her hooves by eliminating momentum with two powerful flutters in the opposite direction, all in a great way by her standards.
"Ha~! *breathe* ha~..." Scootaloo approached trembling from all the emotion she felt when watching the race, but when she got in front of the two, she couldn't take it anymore and fainted from happiness, being caught by both pegasus each one using their wings.
“Thank you for fulfilling her whim, but I have to take her home, the race was amazing and I wish you the best, ah! Excuse my rudeness, but my name is Holyday and I am the aunt of this little filly and she is my partner Lofty” A mare of tropical colors commented as she was followed by another mare who was in charge of raising Scootaloo.
“T-that was super cool!! You saw how I managed to be 20% cooler doing that Sonic Rainboom! But mate! you were amazing with that... Stormboom as Pinkie call it!" Rainbow can't stop talking about all the excitement and like her now she was 20% more capable of being a Wonderbolt.
"Sorry to burst your bubble of emotion... but you should still be able to achieve the Sonic Boom on your own without being influenced by energy from a third party" Flash commented mercilessly as he stretched his wings to eliminate all the tension that he has accumulated from all the activity he has done this day.
"Uhh..." Rainbow wanted to deny Flash's comment, but as stubborn as she may be, she prides herself on knowing her own abilities, and deep down inside her mind, she knows that to be true, even if it hurts.
“Cheer up sugar cube, now at least you know what you have to do to achieve your Sonic Rainboom before you were walking blindly hoping to achieve it, and don't tell me otherwise, I've seen you fail a million times outside of the Sweet Apple Acres... you still owe mah for those apples you took!" Applejack said trying to cheer her up until she remembered the bitten apples on the ground of her farm.
"Aren't there free apples for friends? Or as a congratulatory gift for doing the impossible?" Rainbow asked as she made puppy eyes that were totally ignored by Applejack.
"Not my sugar cube, business is business, and those apples are used to feed mah family, but I don't have much problem whit you eating one or two, but not five or ten like you did today!"
"Uhh? Upsie? I was hungry after my training… sorry” Rainbow rubbed the back of her neck as she listened to how much was the value of what she ate to return it in a second.
Fluttershy ignored the entire conversation and jumped on Rainbow with a mighty hug and congratulating her on getting her Sonic Rainboom done.
Flash decided to ignore them and go for his cloud and then to the hospital to have a medical check done on his toes.
He placed the pennant with his cutie mark on his cloud and took two grape energy bars, and ate them during his flight to the hospital.
"Flash!! H-hey... so... I wanted to know... if you... could... you know what! I'll do it myself, thank you anyway, Flash! " Rainbow lost all her shyness and said goodbye to him while she left with a quick flight.
