It was time, Ace vs Sunset and both trainer was already standing on each side of the battlefield in the main stadium. Luna and the other was sitting in the sands to watch the match. The trainers, with Sara was sitting closet to the field while Celestia and the girls was sitting behind them.
“I wonder if Ace is going to win.” Said Pinkie.
“I’m more curious of which Pokémon he will use, do you know Shadow?” Lumi asked him.
“I have no idea, he didn’t tell me anything yesterday.” Shadow answered her.
James on the other hand had an idea on which Pokémon Ace would start with but he didn’t say anything. Then the announcer started to speak.
“WELCOME LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, BOYS AND GIRLS. THE VICTORY TOURNAMENT OF THE HOENN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP IS ABOUT TO GET UNDERWAY. AS YOU KNOW 32 PARTICIPANTS WILL DO BATTLE HERE IN THE MAIN STADIUM AND AMONGST THEM ONLY ONE WILL COME UP ON TOP. TO CLIMB THE STAIRS AND STAND ON THE TOP AS THE CHAMPION.” Sunset is sure she will be the one. “MATCHES WILL BE FULL BATTLE USING ALL SIXE POKEMON AND TRAINERS MAY SUBSTITUTE FREELY THE TRAINER MUST ALSO ADAPT TO FOUR DIFFERENT FIELDS GRASS ROCK WATER AND ICE. WHEN THREE OF EITHER TRAINERS POKEMON CAN BATTLE ANYMORE THERE WILL BE A QUICK BREAK IN THE MATCH AND A BATTLEFIELD CHANGE FOR THE BATTLE CONTINUES. NOW DIRECT YOUR ATTENTION TO THE BOARD WHICH TELLS US THE FIRST BATTLEFIELD WILL BE.” All look up the big screen and saw that two arrows started to spin around fire different colours, they eventually landed on green. “A GRASS BATTLEFIELD.” Then the field open and up came a grassy field.
“That’s so cool.” Said Dash as she watch the field came up, her friends had to agree with her on that, even Celestia thought it was cool.
When it was ready the judge spoke. “Alright trainers, this opening match of the victory tournament between Ace and Sunset will now begin.”
Then the trainers send out their first Pokémon, Ace was up first. “Let’s do this Tyranitar.” Out came a Pokémon that was green with some black.
James smiled when he saw Ace choice. “I knew it.” Everyone look at him. “I knew he would choose Tyranitar as his first Pokémon.”
“How could you possibly know which Pokémon he would use first?” Celestia asked him.
“Because of Tyranitar has a handy ability, just watch.”
They decide to see what happened. “Do it Tyranitar.” The armor Pokémon roared and then a sandstorm appeared.
Luna and Celestia decided to see the data on Tyranitar of the dex, Celestia had borrowed James.
Tyranitar the armor Pokémon. Tyranitar is so overwhelmingly powerful, it can bring down a whole mountain to make it nest. This Pokémon wanders about in mountains seeking new opponents to fight.
“Tyranitar sounds scary.” Said Fluttershy after hearing the data.
“I agree with you Shy, it sounds scary.” Said Applejack.
The other agree with them, even Dash admit Tyranitar was scary but she would never say that aloud.
“I think whoever wrote the data on Tyranitar is overreacting a little, they can’t destroy a whole mountain.” James told them. It didn’t help.
Then Sunset was up and she couldn’t help but smile when she saw Ace’s choice. ‘I knew he would choose Tyranitar.’ She took out her own Pokéball and threw it. “Ready for battle Sandslash.” Out came the mouse Pokémon.
All trainers became worried when they saw that. “That’s not good.” Said James.
Luna and Celestia look at the data.
Sandslash the mouse Pokémon. Sandslash can roll up its body as if it were a ball covered with large spikes. In battle, this Pokémon will try to make the foe flinch by jabbing it with its spines. It then leaps at the stunned foe to tear wildly with its sharp claws.
“It says here that Sunset’s Sandslash is a ground type.” Said Celestia while looking at the data.
“Yeah, and that’s mean sandstorm isn’t going to work, concerning ground, rock and steel type isn’t affect at all. Ace had good plan but Sunset just shut it down.”
Ace was too happy by this but he wasn’t going to let her get to him that easy, he decided to make the first move. “Tyranitar, use surf.” Everyone was surprised when they heard that, even Sunset was taken of guard of that move. Water appeared around armor Pokémon as it started to surf on water.
Sunset had to act quickly. “Use dig.” Sandslash managed to dig a hole fast enough to avoid the attack.
Ace was prepared. “Use earthquake.” The water disappeared and then Tyranitar shook the entire stadium, the attack made Sandslash resurface. “Use ice beam.” Tyranitar fired a blue beam from its mouth which hit Sandslash right in the face, the mouse Pokémon was out.
“Sandslash is unable to battle, Tyranitar is the winner.” Said the judge.
Sunset wasn’t happy that she lost a Pokémon first, she called back Sandslash and called out her next. “Ready for battle Krookodile.” Out came a red and black Pokémon that look like a crocodile that was standing on two legs.
Pinkie was happy when she saw Krookodile. “Look, it’s Gummy.”
Dash look at friend with a questionable look. “That’s not Gummy, your pet is green not red and this one is bigger.” Pinkie didn’t listen at all.
Luna and Celestia just look at the data.
Krookodile the intimidation Pokémon. They never allow prey to escape. Their jaws are so powerful, they can crush the body of an automobile.
Back at the arena the sandstorm raged on but Krookodile wasn’t affect at all. “Use iron tail.” Krookodile’s tail started to glow as he started to run.
Ace had to counter. “Use ice beam.” Tyranitar fired away the beam again but Krookodille just avoid the attack while he ran.
Once Krookodille was close enough he swung his tail and hit the armor Pokémon pretty hard, Tyranitar staggered backwards a little. “Use hyper beam.” Tyranitar open its mouth ready to fire.
Sunset just smiled. “Use brick break.” Ace eyes widen when he heard that and before he could react, Krookodille hit the armor Pokémon pretty hard, Tyranitar fell on the ground unconscious.
“Tyranitar is unable to battle, Krookodille is the winner.” Said the judge.
Sunset was happy that she managed to take out one of Ace Pokémon, she hope that would crush his spirit, it didn’t.
Ace called back Tyranitar and got ready his next Pokémon. “Let’s do this Gastrodon.” Out came a Pokémon that look like a giant slug, it was blue, green and had some yellow strips.
Rarity didn’t like that one. “What is that? Is disgusting.”
“That’s not very nice to say Rarity, I think it’s cut.” Fluttershy told her friend.
“You may think it’s cut Fluttershy, but I don’t. Just look at it, it look like slug.”
“It’s a Gastrodon, a Shellos has evolved and don’t say it’s disgusting, they were born like that.” James told her.
Luna and Celestia just look at the data.
Gastrodon the sea slug Pokémon. When its natural enemy attacks, it oozes purple fluid and escapes. It apparently had a huge shell for protection in ancient times. It lives in shallow tidal pools.
She then saw their was two pictures. “What? There are two different types of Gastrodon?” Luna asked.
“Not exactly,” Luna, Celestia and the girls look at him. “Gastrodon’s form is different depending on where in the world they live. Shellos and Gastrodon can be blue in one area of the world and pink in another.”
“You mean they are different colour depending on where they live?” Twilight asked James who just nodded. “Fascinating.” Rarity didn’t care about that, she just didn’t like the Pokémon.
Back to the battle, Ace decided to change up the battlefield. “Gastrodon, use rain dance.” The sea slug Pokémon send a small ball of water up in the air and then it started to rain, cancelling sandstorm.
“You want to play in the rain, fine by me.” Sunset held out a Pokéball. “Krookodille, return. The intimidation Pokémon return to its Pokéball, Sunset the switch it with a new one and threw it. “Ready for battle Crawdaunt.” Out came a giant red crab.
The sisters look at the data, again.
Crawdaunt the rouge Pokémon. Crawdaunt has an extremely violent nature that compels it to challenge other living things to battle. Other life forms refuse to live in ponds inhabited by this Pokémon, making them desolate places.
“This Pokémon sounds tough.” Said Applejack.
“You’re not wrong and when it comes to moves, Sunset’s Crawdaunt may have the advance.” Said James.
Back to the battle, Sunset decided to attack first. “ Crawdaunt, use dark pulse.” Crawdaunt fired a black beam from its claws.
“Counter it with hydro pump.” Gastrodon fired a massive water beam from its mouth which collied with dark pulse.
At first it didn’t look like either one of them had the advance but then Gastrodon managed to push back dark pulse, Sunset wasn’t happy. “What are you doing Crawdaunt? Don’t let Ace’s Gastrodon beat you.” Crawdaunt tried to but more power into the attack but it didn’t work, Gastrodon’s attack managed to overpower Crawdaunt’s attack, rouge Pokémon was hit but lucky it didn’t do much damage. Sunset on the other hand was happy right now. “Don’t get cocky, use ice beam.” Crawdaunt managed to recover fast and fired an ice beam from it claws, Gastrodon didn’t have much time to move, sea slug Pokémon was hit.
“Let’s use our own ice beam.” Gastrodon fired away his own ice beam, which hit it target and it did more than that, it froze Crawdaunt in ice.
Sunset wasn’t too happy when she saw her Crawduant in ice. “Damn it.” She held out a Pokéball. “Crawduant, return.” The rouge Pokémon went back to its Pokéball, Sunset took out a new one. “Ready for battle Shiftry.” Out came a brown Pokémon with white hair and it had leaf’s for hands.
James didn’t like that. “That’s not good.”
Luna and Celestia look at the data.
Shiftry the wickid Pokémon. Shiftry is a mysterious Pokémon that is said to live atop towering trees dating back over a thousand years. It creates terrific windstorms with the fans it holds.
“I see what you mean, it a grass type.”
That’s why Sunset chose it. “Use leaf blade.” Shiftry’s leaf’s beamce blades and the dashed towards its opponent.
Ace had to do something. “Use ice beam.”
Gastrodon fired a beam from its mouth in hopes to stop the attack but Shiftry just avoided the attack, Shiftry then slash the sea slug Pokémon with all its might and it was enough to knock him out.
“Gastrodon is unable to battle, Shiftry is the winner.” Said the judge.
Ace had now four Pokémon while Sunset had five, it might look like sunset was winning but one can never know. Ace got ready his next Pokémon. “Come out Volcarona.” Out came a Pokémon that look like a cocoon with red wings.
Luna and the other was surprised when they saw Ace choice. “I guess Ace caught a new Pokémon.” Said Luna
“He must have caught just recently, it a very rear Pokémon, I don’t even have it.” James admitted.
All trainers decided to see the data on this one.
Volcarona the sun Pokémon. A sea of fire engulfs the surroundings of their battles, since they use their six wings to scatter their ember scales.
Sunset was not happy that a loser like Ace had an Volcarona, that was a Pokémon that should belong to her not him and she was going to make him pay. “Use aerial ace.” Shiftry spread its arms and flew towards his opponent.
“Meet the attack by using flame charge.” Volcarona flew forward as he was covert in flames.
Both Pokémon collide and at first it look like none of them was winning, then Volcarona manage to push Shiftry with enough force to send the wickid Pokémon flying backwards.
“Use silver wind.” Volcarona started to flap its wings and it look like it attack with silver wind, Shiftry who was still in the air was hit and when he landed he was out.
“Shiftry is unable to battle, Volcarona is the winner.” Said the judge.
Sunset was very frustrated right now, she had no plans in losing two Pokémon, she had only planed in losing one. “Shiftry, return.” Sunset called back the wickid Pokémon and got ready her next one. “Ready for battle Crawduant.” The rouge Pokémon was up for another round and he was not in ice.
Then Ace held out a Pokéball. “Volcarona, return.” The sun Pokémon went back to its Pokéball and took out a new one and threw it. “You’re up Luxary.” Out came a giant Pokémon that was black, blue and a yellow star on its tail.
The sisters look at the data.
Luxary the gleam eyes Pokémon. Luxary’s ability to see through objects comes in handy when it’s scouting for danger.
Sunset knew she had the disadvantage but she didn’t care right now. “Use bubble beam.” Crawduant fired bubbles from it claws.
“Doge it and use thunder fang.” Luxary jump to the side to avoid the attack, then electricity appeared in its mouth as he started to run towards the rouge Pokémon, he then bite Crawduant in the claw which send electricity through its body, it was enough to knock him out.
“Crawduant is unable to battle, Luxary is the winner.” Said the judge.
The crowd went wild when that happened but Sunset wasn’t happy at all, she was the first one to lose three Pokémon and that was definitely not part of the plan.
The trainers could now retreat for five minutes and calm down a little, Ace walk to the entrance with his legs shaking, he didn’t think he would do so well against Sunset. His opponent on the other hand was pissed off as he walked back to the entrance, Ace had humiliated her and he was going to pay for it.
Back on the stand, all of them could breath. “Man, I didn’t think it would be this nerve wracking.” Said Lumi as she leaned back.
“Just wait until it’s your turn then you can fell it.” James told her.
“I’m not sure that I want to, the double battle was intense but something tells me this is worst.”
Once the five minutes was over, the trainers came back out and this time the battlefield was ice. the rain had stop.
Sunset was up first. “Ready for battle Gengar.” Out came a purple Pokémon with red creepy eyes.
Celestia look at the data.
Gengar shadow Pokémon. Sometimes, on a dark night, your shadow thrown by a streetlight will suddenly and startlingly overtake you. It is actually a Gengar running past you, pretending to your shadow.
Celestia and girls was shivered over the data while Fluttershy was terrified, she didn’t like this Gengar at all.
Then it was Ace turn. “You’re up Leavanny.” Out came the Pokémon Celestia and the girls saw when the meet Ace for the first time.
Leavanny the nurturing Pokémon. Upon finding a small Pokémon, it weaves clothing for it from leaves by using the sticky silk secreted from its mouth.
Sunset was the first one to attack. “Use shadow ball.” Gengar send away a black ball towards its opponent.
“Doge it and use x scissor.” Leavanny managed to avoid the attack, she then started to run towards Gengar while crossing her arms which started to glow.
“Stop Leavanny by using shadow punch.” Gengar punch Leavanny with a shadow punch which send the nurturing Pokémon flying backwards.
“Use energy ball.” Leavanny managed to send away a green ball from its mouth while in the air which hit Gengar, Leavanny then hit he ice and slide backwards.
Sunset had enough. “Use another shadow ball.” Gengar send away another black ball.
Leavanny who was still hurt and was trying to get up, had no change in dodging the attack, she was hit hard and past out.
“Leavanny is unable to battle, Gengar is the winner.” Said the judge.
Then it was three on three and Sunset was a little happier.
Ace called back Leavanny and got ready is next Pokémon. “You’re up next Volcarona.” Out came the sun Pokémon ready for another battle. “Use silver wind.” Volcarona attack with a wind that look like silver.
“Doge that attack.” Gengar jump away and managed to avoid the attack.
“Keep using silver wind.”
Volcarona keep using the attack and Gengar keep avoiding, Sunset wanted to counter but Ace didn’t let her. Eventually Gengar jump the wrong way and was hit.
Sunset was about to give up. “Use Shadow punch.” Gengar managed to punch Volcarona.
Volcarona was now hurt. “Don’t give up, use fire blast.” Volcarona managed to straighten up, then it attack with a massive flame attack which hit Gengar right in the face but it wasn’t enough to knock it out.
“Shadow ball.”
Gengar managed to send away a black ball pretty fast which managed to hit Volcarona with enough force to knock the sun Pokémon out.
“Volcarona is unable to battle, Gengar is the winner.” Said the judge.
Sunset was pleased with herself, she had managed to take out two of Ace’s Pokémon and that meant only two left, she had this in the bag.
Ace had called back Volcarona and got ready his next Pokémon, which was Luxary. “Use thunderbolt.” Luxary sent away electricity towards Gengar.
“Move it.” Gengar wanted but he was to tired and to hurt to move, he was hit hard and was out.
“Gengar is unable to battle, Luxary is the winner.” Said the judge.
Then it was two on two and Sunset wasn’t happy, again. She called back Gengar and got ready her next Pokémon. “Ready for battle Krookodille.” The intimidation Pokémon came out for a second turn.
Ace had to finished this one quick.” Use iron tail.” Luxary’s tail started to glow as he ran towards hids opponent.
“Use dragon claw.”
Krookodille’s claws started to glow and he tried to hit Luxary, but he missed. Luxary managed to hit the intimidation Pokémon with its tail, which was strong enough to knout him out, which was a little weird.
“Krookodille is unable to battle, Luxary is the winner.” Said the judge.
Sunset was furious as she called back Krookodille, she had only one Pokémon left and she was going to let Ace pay for that. “Ready for battle Blaziken.” Out came Sunset’s first Pokémon .
Celestia look at the data.
Blaziken the blaze Pokémon. In battle, Blaziken blows out intense flames from its wrists and attacks foes courageously. The stronger the foe, the more intensely this Pokémon’s wrists burn.
Sunset wanted to finish Luxary fast. “Use flamethrower maximum power.” Blaziken attack with flames from its mouth.
“Move it Luxary.” The gleam eyes Pokémon tried to get out of the way but he was to slow, Luxary was hit by flames and was out.
“Luxary is unable to battle, Blaziken is the winner.” Said the judge.
Now the trainers had only one Pokémon left, Ace called back Luxary and got ready his last Pokémon. “It’s all up to you Serperior.” Out came a Pokémon that look like a snake and was green.
Serperior the regal Pokémon. It only gives its all against strong opponents who are not fazed by the glare from Serperior’s noble eyes.
“I’m guessing that’s Ace best Pokémon.” Said Celestia while looking at the data.
“That’s right and I don’t understand why Twilight is afraid of Serperios, it not classified as a snake Pokémon.” Said James.
Ace knew he had the odds against him but he was not about to give up. “Use energy ball.” Serperior attack with a green ball.
“Knock away the energy ball with fire punch.” Flames surrounded Blaziken’s fist as he punch Serperior’s energy ball into the ground. “Now, attack.” Blaziken ran as fast he could towards his opponent.
“Doge the attack.” Serperior managed to avoid the attack.
“Keep using flame punch.” Blaziken keep on attacking while Serperior keep on dogging, the blaze Pokémon couldn’t connect one attack.
Sunset started to lose her patience. “Use flamethrower on the ground.” Blaziken stop using his fist and then attack with flames that came out from his mouth, the entire ice filed was covert in flames and Serperior was hurt by them.
“Don’t give up, use slam.” Serperior flew through the flames and hit Blaziken with its tail, that stop the attack.
“Fire punch.” Blaziken tried to hit Serperior with his fist again and this time it connected.
“Dragon tail.” Serperior’s tail started to glow and he swung it towards Blaziken.
“Jump.” Blaziken did that he managed to jump a least teen feet in the air. “Use flame burst.” Blaziken attack with a powerful flame attack.
“Use solar beam.”
Serperior fired away a yellow beam towards the attack, the two attacks meet which created an explosion, at first nothing happened and then flames appeared heading towards Serperior who was hit hard and it created another explosion, when the smoke cleared everyone could see Serperior lying on the ground unconscious.
“Serperior is unable to battle, Blazkiken is the winner, the victory goes to Sunset.” Said the judge.
Ace couldn’t believe it, he had lost.
