"Ladies and gentleman, the second duel of the tournament has official ended. And the winner who will be moving onto the next round is Amber." said Luna as she told the crowd to give the girl an applause to which they did.
Amber took the sounds around her in, as she couldn't help but crack a small smile. She then took a courtesy bow as showed her respect. Rainbow Dash had gotten up from her knees and safe to say she was not satisfied with the result of the duel. Nevertheless, she had to admit that Amber was able to outduel her, especially with that last move. So for this time, she was willing to suck it up and swallow her own ego so that someone else could enjoy their moment. All she did was simply gave Amber a thumbs up to which she returned as she began to leave the field. Amber just kept that smile as she took in the applause, she then looked at Isaac who still had a straight look on his face. Amber's expression changed on a dime as she too had a straight look on her face as she remembered what Isaac told her.
"I put this red X on my chest because I know I am the target. So a little piece of advice to whoever wants to come at me next, remember one thing. They stop manufacturing the cloth that I'm cut from!" shouted Isaac.
I haven't forget, professor. And I will be the one to face you.
"Now then, we'll take another short break." said Celestia.
Rainbow was sitting on a bench as she had a juice box in her hand as she crushed it.
"God damn it!!" shouted Rainbow as she threw the drink on the floor. "I had it!"
"Don't beat yourself." said Isaac as he appeared behind her.
"Come to gloat." said Rainbow. "I can hear it now: 'The great Rainbow Dash lost to a newbie. I got my ass beat by a rookie'." said Rainbow in a mocking tone. "So come on, say it. I know you got a witty remark you want to say. So just say it!"
"Good duel." said Isaac.
"Well, I'll have you know... what?" asked Rainbow as she didn't clearly hear Isaac's statement.
"Good duel. You busted your ass and left it all out on the dueling field. That's what really matters."
"I... I did. Yeah. I mean, did you expect any less." said Rainbow as she put some cockiness in her tone.
"You really don't have to put up a tough demeanor just to protect your coolness." said Isaac. "We're your friends, and we don't think any less of you if you lose a duel."
"I know, just... it's who I am." said Rainbow.
"Anyways, just wanted to say that." said Isaac as he began to walk away. "Oh, and do you want to join me and Sunset later tonight for some video games?" asked Isaac as he turned around to address the chromatic haired-girl.
"Yeah, just don't complain when I beat you and her." said Rainbow with some smug.
Amber had approached a table as she grabbed a bottle of water as she took a sip. She then noticed Isaac behind her as she saw him in the reflection of her bottle. She then turned around as she came face to face with him. Nothing was said as both individuals just stared at one another. Just then Isaac began to speak.
"Not bad of a performance out there." said Isaac as he broke the silence.
"Were you doubting me?" asked Amber with some sass.
"No." responded Isaac.
"You weren't? Oh. Apologies for making an assumption." said Amber as she put her head down.
"Of course." said Isaac as he put his hand on Amber's head as it caused her to look at her head professor as he rubbed her head making sure to not mess with her hairband.
"Thank you. I've noticed for quite some time now—you treat all your students equally, don't you? You've never treated me differently simply because I'm younger than the others. And I've always appreciated that." said Amber.
"You're younger?" joked Isaac.
"Isn't it rather obvious? I'm roughly two to three years younger than the rest of the class. Have you not been paying close enough attention to those you teach? That's poor form for a professor." responded Amber with her own remark as she crossed her arms with a scowl on her face. Soon she and Isaac just let out a small laugh at their little fun.
"Just wanted to say you did good. And you allowed yourself to be more open with others besides me and Rarity. That's progress." said Isaac. "But I also noticed your next lesson for you two to work on after the tournament. Here." Isaac then pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket as he gave it to Amber.
"What's this?" asked Amber as she unfolded the paper. She then looked at it and it appeared to be a list.
"Just some suggestions that I believe can help you to improve your deck. Especially since it revolves around Fusion Summoning, you need to start looking into fusion specific cards. Just look up the cards on this that work for almost any fusion deck." Isaac then began to leave as Amber looked at her professor who was walking away. She was a diligent student and enjoyed the hard work that came in researching that she made it her mission to fulfill Isaac's request of her.
Once everybody got a chance to fulfill recharge themselves, Celestia and Luna then informed everybody to get ready as the next round was about to begin.
"Now then, if everybody is ready. We'll now pick the participants on who will be competing in the next duel." stated Celestia as the remaining duelists all looked to the screen behind Isaac as the portraits came up.
The computer then did its thing as the remaining competitors then began to flash rapidly as it was starting to run the generator as it was selecting the two people who would duel. Soon it began to slow down as the pictures slowly came to a stop, soon the computer generated the results as it made its choice. Isaac lifted his head up as he had a small grin on his face as he was sitting in his throne.
"Well, this is interesting. Seems our next duel will be a student vs tutor pairing. It will be Bryant Lopez taking on his mentor Fluttershy." said Luna.
Both competitors were shocked to hear that they would be facing each other. Especially cause they had been practicing with each other in the days leading up to the tournament and Bryant even scored a win over her.
"Duelists, you have two minutes to make your way to the field and prep your decks for any last changes." informed Celesta.
Fluttershy and Bryant then started walking towards the field together as they heard their fellow peers cheering for them. Soon they both looked at Isaac as he looked at the two the same way he had been looking at every competitor. And that was with a straight and determined look on his face with his hand on his chin. Both knew the stakes of this matchup and what would happen if one of them won the whole tournament. It meant one of them could potential have a shot at facing Isaac at the Fall Formal for the title of Canterlot High Duel Champion.
Fluttershy then extended her hand out, "Good luck. Hope I don't hurt you too bad. If I do, just tell me and I'll stop." said Fluttershy as she hid herself a bit behind her hair.
"I'll keep that in mind. And good luck." responded Bryant as he shook the timid girl's hand.
With that they both took their positions as they walked to opposite sides of the duel field. They both pulled out their decks as they slotted them in as the autoshuffler kicked in and their duel disks projected their card tray with Fluttershy projecting a yellow one with Bryant sporting a burgundy color. Soon the wind started to blow as they both prepared themselves as they were seconds away from starting their duel. Then the signal was given.
"Opponent detected. Streaming data. Duel mode set. Initiating. Commencing duel." said their duel disks.
Fluttershy's Life Points: 8000-
Bryant Lopez's Life Points: 8000-
Turn 1: Bryant
"I'll start things off." said Bryant as he drew his card. I managed to beat you before, Fluttershy. And I know I can do it again, especially when I need to be the one to face Isaac at the Fall Formal. "I'll start by summoning my Performapal Bowhopper(1500/1000)." Out came a grasshopper as its head was attached to a bow, it also wore a tiny tuxedo and had white gloves on the rest of its feet. "That's all for this turn."
Turn 2: Fluttershy
"Then it's my turn, so wish me luck." said Fluttershy in a cheerful tone as she picked up her card. Once she looked at her hand and cards, Fluttershy's demeanor started to change. It's time for the matador to start angering the bull. "I summon Playful Possum(800/600) to the field in attack mode!" shouted Fluttershy as she was now speaking with lots of confidence in her voice. "Then I activate the possum's special ability! When you have a monster out on your field with more attack points than Playful Possum... I can destroy this card! Now go!" commanded Fluttershy as she gave her animal its order and he played dead as he was destroyed.
"What?!" shouted all the girls and the students as they were surprised by what the move Fluttershy made.
"That's weird... why bring a monster to the field and then destroy it right away?" said Bryant to himself as he too was confused.
Well, now Fluttershy. I didn't think you figured out this combo. So let's see it in action. Isaac had a small grin behind his hand as he had already knew Fluttershy's move and wanted to see if she could follow through.
"Due to Playful Possum's destruction, I can summon Green Baboon, Defender of the Forest(2600/1800) from my hand!" said Fluttershy. "You see, Bryant and everybody. When a Beast-type monster on my field is destroyed, I can then summon Green Baboon directly from my hand by paying 1000 life points." said Fluttershy with a smug smile. Soon out came a baboon that was colored green as it wielded a giant club in its hand.
Fluttershy's Life Points: 7000-
"I figured it was something like that. I mean, I didn't think you were destroying the first monster you summoned for my benefit." said Bryant. "At least that's what you taught me."
"Correct, good to know you paid attention." said Fluttershy with a grin. "Now go, Green Baboon! Attack Performapal Bowhopper with Hammer Club!" Fluttershy gave her order and her monster listened to his princess as he leaped into action and took out his target with his club.
Bryant's Life Points: 6900-
Now they're about even. Impressive. Isaac couldn't help but smile at the move Fluttershy was able to make.
"If you thought that attack was something, just wait till you see what these two facedowns can do." said Fluttershy as she ended her turn by setting her cards. "Oh, hope I didn't hurt you too badly."
"No, I'm fine." responded Bryant.
"Thank goodness. Just tell me if I get too rough, and I'll tell my animal pals to back off." said Fluttershy as she was now back to her quiet and timid nature.
"Right." chuckled Bryant nervously. Gees, I didn't know she could be this intimidating in a duel. She kinda scares me now. Bryant looked at his tutor who just waved as she was smiling, but he then saw her other side as it caused him to let out a gulp.
Turn 3: Bryant
"My turn." said Bryant as he drew his card and began to figure out his plan. "First thing is dealing with that monkey of yours, and I got just the card to do it. But since you control a monster and I don't, I can special summon this monster, Performapal Revue Dancer(800/1000) in defense mode." Out appeared a female spellcaster as she wore a cute outfit and wielded a whip of sorts. "Next up, I play the spell card, Expulsion Treatment. Now I can banish your monster until the end phase of the turn." Soon a giant net was flung onto of Green Baboon as it was tangled and struggled to get out as it was sucked into a black hole. "Now the effect of my Performapal Revue Dancer allows it to be counted as 2 tributes. So then I'll sacrifice her so that I can summon my Performapal Sleight Hand Magician(2500/2000)!" Soon the tiny female spellcaster then left the field as an even more powerful monster had arrived.
"Now that your field is empty, I can attack you directly. And that's exactly what I'll do, so Sleight Hand Magician do your magic and attack Fluttershy!" commanded Bryant.
"You're gonna have to work harder than that to get to me!" stated Fluttershy. "I activate Battle Instinct!" said Fluttershy as she tapped her duel screen and one of her cards that she set flipped up. "When I find myself the target of a direct attack... I can activate this card and summon a Level 4 or below monster from my hand! I call forth... Nimble Momonga(1000/100)!" A flying squirrel now came out as it unfurled it fur. Soon it stepped in the line of fire as it took the attack from Sleight Hand Magician.
Fluttershy's Life Points: 5500-
"It's at this moment that Momonga's special ability activates! When it's destroyed in battle and sent to the graveyard... I can regain 1000 life points... and I can summon two more Nimble Momongas to the field from my deck in facedown defense mode!" Fluttershy's duel disk then ejected the cards for her as she grabbed them and placed them sideways on her card tray.
Fluttershy's Life Points: 6500-
"I place one card facedown... and end my turn."
"Since we've reached the End Phase, the Green Baboon that your Expulsion Treatment spell card banished returns to the field." said Fluttershy as her baboon was back and it was angry.
Well, well, Fluttershy. You only lost 500 life points and managed to have 3 monsters on your field. You were able to use Bryant's turn to your complete advantage. Isaac couldn't help but offer his praise for how Fluttershy had been playing so far.
Turn 4: Fluttershy
"Your attack just now was careless, Bryant. Seems you forget that lesson in our teachings. You've got openings in your strategy... which I will now exploit!" said Fluttershy as she drew her card. "First, I activate Playful Possum's special ability! When Playful Possum is in the graveyard due to its own ability, I can re-summon it to the field during the Standby Phase! Then I release both Playful Possum and Nimble Momonga in order to summon Behemoth the King of All Animals(2700/1500)!" Fluttershy now used her two weaker, smaller creatures as their energies were being called to bring forth an even mighty predator and one of her favorite monsters. A large white image appeared behind Fluttershy and came into focus. A massive pink and purple monster loomed over the field, cuffs with broken chains wrapped around its paws. Curved horns rose into the air on either side of a massive mane of dark fur. Drool dripped from the beast’s jaws as it roared loudly.
"Whoa, that thing is huge." said Bryant as he got a good look at Fluttershy's behemoth as he was gigantic and he towered a bit over Fluttershy like he was protecting his mistress.
"As is the power of its special ability!" shouted Fluttershy. "When Behemoth is successfully summoned, I can move the same number of Beast-type monsters from my graveyard to my hand as the number of monsters I used to summon it! Which lets me gain two Nimble Momongas!" Fluttershy's duel disk then slotted out the cards of her choosing as she grabbed them.
Fluttershy has 3 back-to-back attack ready to go... Nice. smiled Isaac.
"I hope you're ready, Bryant. Cause it' about to get wild! Let's go! Green Baboon, Defender of the Forest, attack Sleight Hand Magician!" shouted Fluttershy as her ape then charged forward and was about to bring its club down on Bryant's monster.
"I activate my trap, Chain Arrow!" shouted Bryant as he touched his duel disk and his card flipped up. "This trap grants a monster being attacked a temporary increase in power by 500 attack points!"
"That means..." said Fluttershy as her monster raised its club to hit Sleight Hand Magician as it was destroyed.
Fluttershy's Life Points: 6100-
"That means, since Sleight Hand Magician successfully used Chain Arrow to destroy a monster in battle, it can fire a counter attack shot that lowers another one of your monster's attack points by a thousand until the end phase of your turn!" said Bryant. Soon an arrow was shot out as it had a chain attached to it as it wrapped around Behemoth the King of All Animals as it restricted him from moving as he tumbled a bit to its side as it was lowered to 1700 attack points.
"You okay?" asked Fluttershy as she bent down to her monster's face as he let out a growl to show that he was fine. Fluttershy just smiled as she petted its face and nuzzled it as she got back to dueling. "I have to admit, I'm somewhat impressed." stated Fluttershy as she addressed Bryant's move.
"Thanks, now Chain Arrow effect wears off, and Sleight Hand Magician's attack points return to normal."
What incredible foresight. Bryant removed Green Baboon from play using a spell card, but he knew the big ape would return to the field during the End Phase and that Fluttershy would attack with it first. So he planted a trap card that would negate the attack, destroy baboon permantly, and weaken Behemoth at the same time. Not too bad. Isaac had to admit that he was impressed by how Bryant was able to think a head bit and prepare for Fluttershy. However, you still lack the bond necessary to take you to the next level. Not to mention that deck of yours could see some new additions.
"Well, well, I mockishly declared earlier that there were glaring openings in your strategy, but perhaps I was wrong. I take it back and humbly apologize... by activating Beast Burial Ritual! This trap lets me draw 2 new cards in exchange for sending one monster from my field to my graveyard. Say goodbye to Nimble Momonga!" said Fluttershy as her monster was now gone and sent off as she picked up some more cards.
"Grr." said Bryant as he had a bad feeling of what was about to happen next.
"As you may have guessed, when a Beast-type monster of mine is destroyed, I can pay 1000 life points to get Green Baboon out of my graveyard and back on my field!" Fluttershy's ape was then back as it let out a howl and banged its chest as looked at Bryant with fury in its eyes.
Fluttershy's Life Points: 5100-
In that last battle, if it had been business as usual for Fluttershy, she would've attacked with Behemoth instead of Green Baboon considering that Behemoth is so much stronger. But by anticipating Bryant's thinking, Fluttershy was able to think a few steps ahead of him. So she turned the tables on Chain Arrow. She basically used Bryant's trap as an opportunity to draw two new cards. Once again, Isaac was impressed with how Fluttershy was playing her cards as this was different than how she normally battled.
My plan seems to be working, but I couldn't figure it out all by myself. It took a lot of time watching some videos on Isaac's past duels, but I was able to understand it. Isaac is better than anyone I know at reading his opponent, predicting their every move, and then using those moves to pave the road to victory. Fluttershy then quickly looked at her friend as she was briefly reminded of the first time they met and how much he changed her perspective when it came to Duel Monsters. I hope I can be able to do the same here and use it to win.
"Time to fight!" said Fluttershy as she turned back to Bryant. "Green Baboon, take out Sleight Hand Magician!" Green Baboon then raised its club as this time it was successful in taking out Sleight Hand Magician.
Bryant's Life Points: 6800-
"And now, with Sleight Hand Magician out of the picture, Behemoth moves in to attack you directly! This should shake things up!" Green Baboon then appeared next to its comrades side as he loosen up the chains a bit as it allowed Behemoth to stand up and then charged forward as he headbutted Bryant who was thrown onto his back.
Bryant's Life Points: 5100-
Once again, they both tied up. smiled Isaac.
"Now I'll place one card facedown and end my turn! And Chain Arrow's effect wears off, returning behemoth's attack points to normal!" stated Fluttershy as the chains binding Behemoth were now broken as it let out a huge roar. It then lowered it head towards Fluttershy who gave it a kiss and snuggled her giant beast.
Turn 5: Bryant
"It's my turn now." said Bryant as he drew his card. With my current hand, I can't summon a monster to protect myself, but may be this can help. "Now I play the spell Performapal Recasting. So now I reveal my hand and then any 'Performapals' that are in my hand are then shuffled back into my deck. The upside is that for every 'Performapal' that I revealed, I get to draw that same amount of cards plus one." Bryant's hand then materialized for all to see as the 2 remaining cards in his hand were 'Performapals'. "So now I send my hand back to my deck and then draw 3 new cards." Bryant then placed his cards on top of his deck as the autoshuffler kicked in and he drew the top 3 cards. "Alright, much better. Especially cause I drew Pot of Greed so now I pick up 2 more cards. Next up, I summon a monster known as Shield Wing(0/900)." Out came a monster that was very different from the rest of Bryant's deck.
"I know what you're thinking why have a monster that's completing different than the rest of my deck. Well, there's nothing with variety, especially with a card as powerful as this. It would be a crime not to have it." stated Bryant. "Then, I'll place two cards facedown. That's all."
Shield Wing is practically a wall, that bird can usually withstand at least 2 attacks. Even if Fluttershy summons a third monster next turn, she won't be able to attack Bryant directly. Smart. Once again, Isaac was impressed by both competitors in this duel as they were in perfect sync and anticipating each other's moves.
Turn 6: Fluttershy
"It's my turn! I summon Nimble Momonga! Then I send one Beast-type monster from my hand to the graveyard in order to summon the Egotistical Ape(1200/1200) tuner monster to the field!" Fluttershy then sent her other Momonga in her hand to the graveyard as out came a tiny ape as it had a much larger spirit looming over its shoulders. "Egotistical Ape's level increases by the level of the monster that was sent to the graveyard to summon it!" Egotistical Ape's level then changed from Level 5 to Level 7.
Fluttershy's got 4 monsters on the field. Two to chip away at Shield Wing's defense points, a third to dish out the finishing blow, leaving the field wide open. For monster number four to move in and attack Bryant directly! Tell me, Fluttershy. Just how much have you been practicing and studying. I'm happy. Isaac couldn't stop smiling at how Fluttershy was playing this duel so effectively, it warmed his heart to see the shy girl was full of confidence.
"Before you go any further, I reveal one of my trap cards-- it's Shield Coat! When you summon a monster more powerful than a monster that I have in defense mode, I can use Shield Coat to double my monster's defense points!" Bryant's trap the allowed his Shield Wing to now have 1800 defense points.
Now it'll take a lot more than a freaky flying squirrel and a funny-looking monkey to destroy Shield Wing. Proper counter to respond. Good job, Bryant. Isaac leaned back on his throne as he was really enjoying this duel.
"Nice try, but my Level 7 Egotistical Ape is tuning my Level 2 Nimble Momonga! You didn't think I was going to try to one-two your monster with weak creatures, did you?" Fluttershy's Egotistical Ape then turned into 7 giant green rings as Nimble Momonga flew into them as they were calling a new beast. "I'm gonna let the king of the jungle, take out your Shield Wing. Say hello to Naturia Gaodrake(3000/1800)!" Out came a lion as it fur and mane were leaves that covered its entire body.
"When did she have that card?!" shouted the girls.
She totally knew that Bryant had a trap card ready to boost his monster's defense points. She was just waiting for him to play it. But by combining two of her monsters, she's now one monster shy of directly attacking Bryant. A give and take situation, the question is: what happens now?
"Baboon! Get in there and clobber Bryant's Shield Wing!" Baboon heard the command from his princess as he leaped into the air and brought its club down on the tiny dragon. "Alright, Behemoth-- your turn!" Behemoth then raised forward as it used his horns to headbutt Shield Wing as the tiny monster was still standing. "And now, to seal the deal-- Naturia Gaodrake pounces in for a third attack!" Fluttershy gave her last animal its order as it lunged forward and unfurled its claws as it took Shield Wing out completely.
"Now Bryant is completely defenseless." said Celestia as she commentated the duel.
"The good news is that Fluttershy doesn't have any more monsters she can attack him with." added Luna.
"My predator is still on the hunt, Bryant... I activate Howl of the Wild! When a Beast-type monster of mine destroys your monster in battle, Howl of the Wild can slam you for 300 points of damage for every beast on my field!"
"Aw, no." stated Bryant.
"'Aw, no' is right! See with 3 beasts on my field you'll be taking 900 points of damage!" shouted Fluttershy. Soon the energies of her animals all combined together as they shot towards Bryant as he took some damage.
Bryant's Life Points: 4200-
"I place one card facedown and end my turn!" said Fluttershy. Her monsters then all bowed before her as she gave them all a petting as they showed their love for their princess.
Turn 7: Bryant
"My turn, I'll just lay one card facedown and end my turn."
Turn 8: Fluttershy
"Then I'll take over. Time to end this, Naturia Gaodrake attack Bryant directly!" commanded Fluttershy. Her lion-like creature then leaped over her as it was charging towards its prey.
"I reveal my facedown, Performapal Call! Now since you declared a direct attack, I can target that attack and negate it!" Naturia Gaodrake then stopped in its tracks as it soon gave out a growl as it made its way back to Fluttershy. "Now I can add up to 2 'Performapal' monsters from my deck to my hand as long as their total defense points is lower or equal to the attack points of the monster that attacked." Bryant then used his duel disk as he was selected the cards he wanted. "I choose to add my Performapal Friendonkey and Performapal Elephammer!" said Bryant.
"Maybe, but my other monsters can still attack, so finish this duel!" shouted Fluttershy.
"I reveal my other facedown, Hippo Carnival! Now I can special summon 3 'Hippo' Tokens and the best part is that they're the only ones you can attack when they're on the field." Soon some confetti popped out as out came three female hippos in salsa's outfits as they danced. Fluttershy's other two monsters then took out 2 of the tokens as they returned back to her side of the field.
"I'll give you that, you survived all three of my monster's attacks. I'll just end my turn then."
Turn 9: Bryant
"My draw, so I'll summon my Performapal Friendonkey(1600/800). Then when he's summoned, I can special another Performapal from my hand or graveyard that's Level 4 or below. So I return back my Performapal Bowhopper. Then I play the spell Double Summon so since I control 2 or more 'Performapals', I can normal summon my Performapal Elephammer(2600/1800) without tributing!" Bryant now had his own big animal join the battle as his elephant let out a trumpet sound as he joined his other animal pals. "Finally is the spell card, Performance Hurricane. Now I can return any number of cards you control up to the number of 'Performapals' on my side of the field. So since I have 3 monsters, I can now return all of your animal friends back to your hand. And your Naturia Gaodrake is heading back to your Extra Deck." A giant hurricane soon blew over the entire field as it caused Fluttershy to put her hands on her dress to keep her from flying away. Eventually the storm died down and soon Fluttershy's entire field was empty. "Now to attack."
"Not bad, but now I activate my Pinpoint Guard. So now I can summon a Level 4 or below monster to the field from my graveyard in defense mode. So welcome back my Nimble Momonga!" Fluttershy then had her flying squirrel appear on her field.
"You may have gotten a monster, but I'll still destroy it. Elephammer take out that rodent." shouted Bryant as his elephant started to charge forward as the ground shook beneath it. It then raised its trunk and brought it down on Fluttershy's monster looking to destroy it, but it was still there.
"What gives?" asked Bryant.
"My trap card, see it not only brings back my monster, but it can't be destroyed by battle or card effects this turn." smiled Fluttershy.
"So that means all my other attack are useless this turn. In that case, I'll end my turn."
Turn 10: Fluttershy
"My turn, to start I'll play the Card Destruction spell card. So now I discard my hand and then draw that same number of cards I discarded." stated Fluttershy as she got rid of their hands and redrew.
"Now that she's tossed out her Green Baboon, she must be planning on summon it." said Bryant to himself.
"Now I play the spell Card of Sanctity so now each draw till we're holding six cards in our hands." said the shy girl as she and Bryant refilled their hands. "Then I summon Uni-Horned Familiar(0/1000) in defense mode. Next, I remove a spell card in my hand from play to summon Monoceros(1000/1000) also in defense mode!" Fluttershy now had two monsters on her field as one of them was a tuner monster. "I know neither of these monsters is very impressive by themselves, but when put together..."
"She must be planning for a synchro." said Bryant to himself.
"I'll then place two cards facedown and end my turn." said Fluttershy.
That's strange. Fluttershy was all set up to Synchro Summon but didn't. Instead, she just kept both of her monsters sitting out there in defense mode. Guess, she's playing it safe. thought Bryant.
If Fluttershy was really playing it safe, she would have synchro summoned. I remember teaching her this combo, after all, when you synchro summon using Monoceros and a Beast-type tuner monster, you can then resurrect that same tuner monster right back to field. In other words, she would have had an even stronger defense. Isaac too was taken aback by Fluttershy's decision, but he was interested in what she had planned.
Turn 11: Bryant
"My turn." said Bryant as he drew his card. "Now time to end this duel, Performapal Bowhopper attack her Nimble Momonga." Bowhopper then fired its little friend as it took out Fluttershy's squirrel and left her defenseless.
"Nimble Momonga's special ability activates and I'm granted 1000 life points." stated Fluttershy.
Fluttershy's Life Points: 6100-
"Then Performapal Elephammer attack Uni-Horned Familiar!" said Bryant as he gave his monster its order. Just as he was about to activate his monster's effect, he was interrupted.
"I play Uni-Horned Familiar's special ability. You see, when Uni-Horned Familiar is attacked while in defense mode, by removing a monster on my field from play, I can also remove Uni-Horned Familiar in play." Fluttershy's monsters then disappeared into a black hole as they were completely gone.
"What?" shouted Bryant as he was caught off guard by that move. Now her field is empty... unless, she must have been luring me into a trap. But my Elephammer can return her cards that she set back to her hand, but she knows that. So she probably has something else. Better play it safe. "In that case, nice try, Fluttershy, but I don't think so. I'm stopping Elephammer's attack here and now."
"You're not stopping anything, Bryant. My Uni-Horned Familiar's ability forces you to see your attack through to the end."
"What?"
"Come to me, Performapal Elephammer." said Fluttershy as the elephant was still charging towards her as she stood there with a smile on her face. "Sorry for doing this, but now time to be ensnared. I activate the trap, Different Dimension Barrier - Lost Force! Now the damage your Elephammer was about to inflict to me is deflected back to you!"
"That's not good!" shouted Bryant.
Elephammer then stopped in front of Fluttershy as it looked at the shy girl. He then bent down as he was eye level with her as Fluttershy just simply petted his trunk. She then turned on the charm as she was now talking with the giant animal as he immediately fell in love with her. She then pointed at Bryant as he understood and then charged back towards Bryant as the ground trembled before him.
"Wait, wait! It's me!" shouted Bryant as he saw his own monster raise its hammer-like trunk and brought it down on his head in a cartoonish effect as he had swirls in his eyes and cuckoo birds flying around his head as he fell over and fainted.
Bryant's Life Points: 1600-
"Ugh, that's gonna hurt in the morning." said Bryant as he sat up and rubbed his head as his monster was now back to his field. "You may have stopped my Elephammer, but my other two monsters can still attack. So Performapal Friendonkey attack her directly!" shouted Bryant. His monster then started to head towards Fluttershy, just as he was about to attack, he immediately stopped in his tracks. He looked at Fluttershy who just stood there with a smile and waved at the critter who immediately started to nuzzle against her and show his love towards her.
"Oh, come on!" shouted Bryant as he couldn't believe that his own monster was now turning against him.
"There you go, remember to get plenty of exercise and eat your meals." said Fluttershy as she pulled out some treats from her skirt pocket as she fed Performapal Friendonkey.
"Hey, you're suppose to be on my side!" shouted Bryant.
"Sorry." smiled Fluttershy nervously. "Go on, little one." said Fluttershy as she told him to return back to Bryant as he nodded and gave her one final nuzzle as it counted as him attacking.
Fluttershy's Life Points: 4500-
"Now I question where your loyalty lies." said Bryant as he addressed his monster as he couldn't believe that he abandoned him. "I'll now activate my Performapal Bowhopper's special ability, so I tribute my Performapal Friendonkey so that you take damage equal to its level by 100. So since Friendonkey is Level 3, you're taking 300 points of damage." Bowhopper then pulled its string back as Friendonkey turned into an arrow and then loaded into its comrades weapon as it unleashed the bow and then fired off at Fluttershy who put her arms up.
Fluttershy's Life Points: 4200-
"I'll end my turn." said Bryant as he had to discard a card to meet the hand limit.
Turn 12: Fluttershy
"My turn! First, the Uni-Horned Familiar that was removed from play last round returns to the field. So welcome back, my single-spiked fiend." A portal opened up as out came Uni-Horned Familiar in defense mode. "And next I'll be welcoming Unicorn Knight. But in order for that to happen, I must resurrect Monoceros and then special summon him. So, come back, Monoceros!" Another portal opened up as Monoceros was now back in play in defense mode. "Now appear, Unicorn Knight(1800/900)." Fluttershy now had 3 monsters on her field as she looked to execute her plan.
"And now, Level 2 Uni-Horned Familiar, tune with Level 3 Monoceros." Uni-Horned Familiar then turned into two giant green rings as it circled around Monoceros who jumped in between them. "Feel the winds blow and watch the storm clouds up above rumble with electricity! I Synchro Summon, Thunder Unicorn(2200/1800)!" Fluttershy's great beast then raced down from the heavens and landed with a thud as the sound of thunder went off which caused Bryant to jump back a bit.
"That unicorn wouldn't scare a mouse. He's no match for my Performapal Elephammer." stated Bryant.
"Very true, Bryant. Right now, he's not. But did forget about his special ability?" taunted Fluttershy.
"Oh no!" said Bryant as he quickly realized that fact and was mentally punching himself for forgetting such an important detail.
"Once per turn, Thunder Unicorn can lower a monster's attack points by 500 for ever non-Thunder-Unicorn monster that happens to be on my field."
"Yeah, but wait... if you do that then only your Thunder Unicorn would be able to attack and since I still have a Hippo token on my field, it means you can't attack anything else. Not to mention you only have one non-Thunder Unicorn out."
"Did you forget about last time? My Monoceros' special ability, an ability that I can activate from my graveyard. You see, when Monoceros is used to synchro summon along with a Beast-type tuner monster, I can then resurrect that tuner monster. Welcome back, Uni-Horned Familiar." Fluttershy now had her beast rise up in defense mode as she had 3 monsters on her field.
"Now she has 2 non-Thunder Unicorn monsters on her field. But you're still forced to attack my token." said Bryant.
"Which is why I won't activate my Thunder Unicorn's ability. Instead, I'll have Unicorn Knight attack your Hippo token." said Fluttershy as her monster took out its target. "Now with that token gone, I'm free to attack and I'll do so by attacking, Performapal Bowhopper! Now go, Thunder Unicorn! Attack with Super Charger Bolt!!" said Fluttershy as her unicorn raised its horn and then with a diagonal slash cut down Bowhopper as it was destroyed.
Bryant's Life Points: 900-
"Now, I'll end my turn."
Turn 13: Bryant
"Then it's up to me to turn things around, here goes." Bryant then looked at his deck. I can't believe I'm doing this, but I need to believe that my deck can help me draw the card I need. If there is a bond that's suppose to exist, then sure as hell need it now. Come on. Bryant then placed his hand on the top of his deck as he drew it with his eyes closed. He then looked at it and had a smile on his face. "Now I'll tribute my Performapal Elephammer so that I can summon this beast. Odd-Eyes Advance Dragon(3000/2500)!" Bryant then had his elephant change into a white light as it shot in the sky as the new beast was being summoned. Soon it descended down from the heavens and landed with a thud as it let out a huge roar.
"Incredible." said Isaac as he was surprised by what Bryant was able to draw. Those cards, don't come in the standard box for Performapals. So where did you get that, Bryant?
"Now the effect of my Odd-Eyes Advance Dragon activates, since it was tribute summoned, I can destroy one monster you control on the field. So I choose to target your Thunder Unicorn!" Odd-Eyes Advance Dragon then opened its mouth as it fired off a powerful attack beam as it took out Thunder Unicorn with ease. "And not only is your destroyed, but you take damage equal to that monster's attack points." Odd-Eyes Advance Dragon then fired another beam as it headed towards Fluttershy as she put her arms up to cover herself.
Fluttershy's Life Points: 2000-
"Now to attack, Odd-Eyes Advance Dragon attack Uni-Horned Familiar!" said Bryant as his dragon took out Fluttershy's other monster as she was now down to her Unicorn Knight. "Now the other effect of my Odd-Eyes Advance Dragon activates, when it destroys a monster in battle I can summon one Level 5 or higher monster from my hand or graveyard and summon them in defense mode. So rise up, Performapal Elephammer!" said Bryant as he now had another monster on his field.
"Thank you. Cause I reveal my facedown, Dimension Equilibrium! I can activate this card when you destroy a monster of mine in battle. Then the Battle Phase ends, and I get to summon back the monster that was destroyed. So my Uni-Horned Familiar is back in play." Fluttershy's monster once again rose up as it took a defensive position. "And the monster that attacked it... is now removed from play." smiled Fluttershy.
"My monster!" said Bryant as he saw his dragon being sucked into a portal as it was gone without a trace.
"Is now gone." said Fluttershy with such conviction.
"I'll... end my turn."
Turn 14: Fluttershy
"My turn, now I play Pot of Greed so that I can draw 2 cards. Then I summon, Trident Warrior(1800/1200) and when this monster is successfully summoned, I can special summon 1 Level 3 monster from my hand, so I choose to play my Delta Flyer(1500/900). And then Delta Flyer's effect activates, when it's summoned, I can increase or decrease the level of one faceup monsters on the field by 1." Trident Warrior then had its level increase from 4 to 5. "Now I tune my Level 3 Delta Flyer with my Level 5 Trident Warrior." Delta Flyer then soared high into the air as it turned into three giant green rings as Trident Warrior jumped in between. "Let the sky open up and now give way to a gleaming beast of electric might! I Synchro Summon, Lightning Tricorn!"(2800/2000)!" shouted Fluttershy as her new beast emerged.
"By why stop there, cause now I tune my Level 4 Unicorn Knight with Level 2 Uni-Horned Familiar." Fluttershy was now performing a second synchro summon; Uni-Horned Familiar then changed into two giant green rings as it circled around Unicorn Knight. "I Synchro Summon... Celestial Wolf Lord, Blue Sirius(2400/1500)!" Fluttershy once again shocked everybody as not only did she perform two back-to-back synchro summons, but also show off another new monster. Out came a three-headed wolf as it stood on its hind legs and its entire body was blue as it let out a howl. "Time to end this, Blue Sirius attack Performapal Elephammer!" Blue Sirius then let into the air as it brought its multiple jaws on Elephammer as it let out a cry as it was destroyed. "Now Lighting Tricorn, finish this duel!!" said Fluttershy as she thrusted her arm out. Lightning Tricorn then charged forward as it pointed its horn as Bryant who saw the attack coming and was thrown back onto the grass.
