I Believe In You

Chapter One

Sunset Shimmer pushed her back up against the wall of an alleyway and slid down to sit. She was feeling like she could cry but, she simply didn't, the tears had already left from her eyes and she didn't have any left. A subtle sigh left her mouth as she tapped a few areas on her face to see how bad her wounds hurt. Surprisingly none of them hurt nearly as bad as she had expected, considering the fact that she quite literally turned from a person, into a demon, and back. A wave of sorrow crossed her mind as she realized her situation at the given moment.

She was about to get and find a relatively uninhabited place in the city where she could sleep, like an abandoned building, or a more remote alleyway. It seemed like a somewhat sad place to sleep but as expected, when she came from Equestria, she had no place to stay so it was the best she truly had at that point. Before getting up she heard faint footsteps near her, and they were coming from behind.

"Hey! Who's there?!" She shouted, with her defenses slightly up now, looking behind, while she scooted over from where she heard it . "C-Come this isn't funny now! Show yourself!" She was now beginning to panic as she knew the streets could have been dangerous at this time of night. The place was dark and all she saw was a faint image of a shorter girl coming towards her.

"Who- Fluttershy?" She said, sounding shocked at the shy girl's presence. "What are you doing here?"

"Oh, I'm sorry I didn't wanna scare you but... I was leaving the dance and I saw somebody crying so I wanted to see what was wrong but um, I didn't know it was you. Sorry I'll leave now-" She started before getting cut off.

"N-No stay!" Sunset blurted out before shrinking back a bit upon realizing what she just said, whilst she started to get up.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, please don't do anything I didn't know it was you, I-I'll leave!" Fluttershy said whilst retreating back a bit, clearly feeling intimidated by the redhead's presence, remembering all the times Sunset had bullied her.

"Wait, p-please, I won't hurt you I promise!" Sunset said as Fluttershy stood still, shaking a bit, seemingly shocked by what Sunset had just stated.

"Then, w-what do you want..?" Fluttershy mumbled.

"I- I... wanna say sorry... for everything..." Sunset started as Fluttershy put her head down a bit. "I was acting really stupid, and I shouldn't have done what I did, and I understand if you don't wanna forgive me because there's no reason to... Twilight is wrong, I-I don't deserve a second chance after everything."

"I forgive you." Fluttershy said just loud enough where she was audible.

"Wait, for real? But why?" Sunset furrowed her brows.

"Because, Twilight was right... you do deserve a second chance, I mean I'm still upset about some of the things you did to me... and my friends... but if you can do you better now, I think we could move on..." Fluttershy said softly as Sunset pondered mentally for a moment.

"I- I mean... thank you... you don't have to... I mean you've done nothing wrong before and yet I was horrible, really Fluttershy, you can move on-"

"No." Fluttershy said, raising her voice a bit, shocking Sunset. "I don't want you to just end up alone, with no friends, and people bullying you now, that's what happened to me, and nobody deserves that... Just please..." Fluttershy stated firmly, while Sunset was a bit taken a back, she never heard her so assertive.

"O-Okay..." She said while holding her arms crossed, trying to resist how intense the cold the air was. "I'm gonna head home, uh, see you on Monday?" She asked.

"Of course. Have a good night..." She said as Sunset waved awkwardly and walked off, and entered a nearby building, figuring it could be a good place to stay for the night.

"One more question Sunset!" She started as Sunset turned around, confused. "Is your home a Pizza Restaurant?" She asked as Sunset furrowed her brow, confused at the statement.

"What, of course not? Why are you asking though?" Sunset questioned.

"Because you're walking in the storage facility for one right now..." She said as Sunset looked over at the sign above her to see that she was indeed about to walk into a pizza storage facility.

"I- well you see..." "Crap, I thought she wasn't here anymore" "This is uh... I was just- Like- I was gonna check the um..." She stopped, trying to brainstorm an excuse as Fluttershy ran her left hand through her pink hair, waiting for an answer.

Sunset stood still, this was her worst fear, that somebody would find out she had nowhere to stay and try to get her to a homeless shelter or something, where she would no longer be independent.

"I don't have one..." She said out of context, confusing Fluttershy.

"You don't have what? Wait, you mean you're-"

"Homeless... yeah, I've been going in and out of random uninhabited locations for the past 3 years, and I don't have anybody I could stay with..." She said before letting out a sigh, feeling slightly relived to get it off of her chest.

"Oh my gosh, really? I'm so sorry I didn't know, do you really not have anyone to stay with?" She asked as Sunset hung her head in sadness.

"No, I-I don't and I've been keeping it a secret cause I know it's weak, and I'm sorry you had to find out this way..." She said feeling ashamed of herself even though she knew she could not have done anything about it.

"Well, you can stay at my place, I-I have a spare room..." Fluttershy said as Sunset quickly replied.

"What? No, I don't deserve that after everything! please Fluttershy, I don't wanna be a burden, just go, I'm totally fine right now just as I am!" She said

"No, you're not please just come with me, I don't want you out here, plus my parents are out of town for a week." She offered, with a sympathetic voice. Sunset truly wanted to deny her, but after living on the streets for years, being in freezing cold weather, and having the worst night of her life, she felt bad turning down such a kind offer, especially from such a kind individual.

"O-Okay, but only if you're sure..." She said making Fluttershy smile slightly.

"Okay perfect, let's go, I could finally show someone all of the pets!" She exclaimed in a happy quiet voice, that couldn't help but make Sunset grin at the girl.

Maybe... things weren't going to be as bad as she thought...
