//------------------------------// // Pokemon Base // Story: My Little Pokémon // by Amarvax //------------------------------// SugarCube Corner. Day. "Here!" Professor Oak had currently come over to Ponyville to meet with Mayor Mare for something rather important. He slammed a flier on the table, showing it to the mayor and Pinkie Pie. "A baseball match will do! A good old game of Pokemon Base!" "Pokemon Base?" Mayor Mare said. "Some residents from both sides wanted to spend more time with each other. And this is the perfect answer. The popular Pokemon Baseball game known as Pokemon Base! It works differently from traditional baseball but the rules are easy to get behind." "Oooh!" Pinkie Pie gawked. "Hm-hm!" Mayor Mare nodded as her glasses flashed. "A game of baseball! I haven't been a part of that for so long...I'll take it!" "What's this about baseball?" One of the customers in SugarCube Corner was none other than one of Ash's Rivals, the indomitable Bea, who had a bit of a sweet tooth and couldn't resist anything sweet. "How does tomorrow sound?" Oak asked. "Perfect! We'll have a team ready by then. I expect you to do the same, Samuel. "Of, course I will. I'm big into baseball too if you must know. I'll gather a team that will guide us to victory!" "You mean my team's victory?" Mayor Mare leaned in with squinted eyes. "We'll see." So did Oak as a competitive aura was building up from within them. One that Bea could admire. "Such fire..." Bea gulped as she scarfed down a plethora of sweets. "And leave the rest to me!" Pinkie Pie declared, shouting in between them as an inevitable baseball game was about to commence in one day. One that no one would forget. Kanto Region. Pallet Town's mini-baseball stadium. Tomorrow. Day. At this moment, a small sporting activity was about to take place. Baseball. A fairly well-known sport across both worlds. Here in the Pokemon World, it's shortened as the title Pokemon Base. And right now, Ash and his friends are about to take part in this game of baseball on a hot day. Mostly because summer was approaching. Joining them was the unlikely addition of Adagio, who wasn't too keen on being here, neither did she understand baseball herself. She and her sisters would just watch this game along with Sunset Shimmer, Chloe, Ash and Twilight's parents and a few residents of Kanto and Ponyville. It was going to be short after all. Even Gilda alongside another griffin by the name of Gabby came to watch this from intrigue or excitement. "Okay!" Pinkie Pie declared as she looked up at the sky. "It's a good day and nice weather to play baseball, isn't it? All of you finish getting ready, alright?" She spoke to the two opposing teams. "We've only got like 20 minutes for today's match so let's make it count!" On both sides, one team consisted of Ash, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Spike and their Pokemon while another team consisted of Twilight, Rarity, Goh, Starlight and their Pokemon. The max amount of members for a baseball team is 9 so not all of their Pokemon were out so there were only a few. However, the Pokemon that couldn't join them were going to cheer for their trainers on the bleachers. The coach on Ash's side was Professor Oak while the coach on Twilight's side was Mayor Mare herself. Both were actually well-versed in baseball knowledge. Oak's team wore blue while Mayor Mare's team wore red. "Count on me to guide you all to victory." Oak looked at his team. "Ash. As you as the captain, I'm also counting on you." "You bet, Professor Oak!" Ash nodded. Alongside him were Pikachu, Dragonite and Lucario while Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Spike, Axew and Sceptile filled the rest of the team. "Mhm!" Rainbow Dash and the others nodded. "I used to be a bit of a multi-tasker back then. Not just fit for the role of mayor." Mayor Mare smirked while speaking to her team which had Twilight, Rarity, Goh, Starlight, Ninetales, Pheromosa, Leavanny, Hatterene and Cinderace. "Don't let the other team intimidated you, alright? Let's work up a good sweat and win this!" "Alright, everypony! Gather around!" Pinkie Pie bellowed as both teams started to gather around, standing apart from each other. At the same time, Pinkie Pie glued her eyes to the rulebook of baseball since this was also fairly new to her. But she seemed to be doing a good job of following the necessary rules. "Got anything to say to each other?" "Uh...yeah. How's Ninetales gonna hit the ball with paws if he can't hold them?" Spike asked. "Says here the Pokemon can either use actual baseballs or just their limbs and stuff." Pinkie pointed at one of the rules. "So all those nine tails are good to go!" "Ninetales!" "Huh?! All nine of them?!" Rainbow Dash winced, knowing that have nine tails as a battering or throwing weapon could be a massive advantage. There was no way Ninetales was missing with that many tails. Throwing might also be a major threat as well. "No need to worry. Nine or one hundred tails we're gonna win this!" Ash grinned. "Pikachu!" "Hmph! We'll see about that, Ash!" Twilight smirked. "Why am I here...?" Adagio spoke as she sighed. "You always say that Adagio." Aria nudged her big sister. "Besides, you were pretty interested when you brought it up." "Yeah, I guess." Adagio nodded. Ever since the Pokemon Talent Show and Pokestar Studios trip, she's become more interested in normal daily activities that she's never experienced. "Who're you rooting for?!" Sonata held popcorn in her hooves. "My money's on the blue team!" "Good luck to both teams!" Fluttershy cheered. "Audino!" "Chikori!" "Scorbun!" "Oh, this is already taking me back to when I saw Ash playing baseball at a young age!" Delia clapped her hands together. "He still looks great in a baseball uniform!" "Hehe! I'm already getting excited!" Twilight Velvet giggled. "Just take a good look everyone. With Ash on their side, there's no way they're losing this baseball match." Delia clapped with confidence. "More like my daughter and her team have this. Twilight's sharp thinking gives her team a major chance at winning this overall." "Mm-mm." Delia shook her head. "No one's getting past Ash's throwing skills. Not one bit. Never happened in the past and it won't happen now. Especially his meteor ball." "Huh?" Velvet turned to Delia. "Maybe but Twilight's known for overcoming the unstoppable. So throwing some sort of funky named ball isn't much to her." "Funky? It's a one of a kind ball." Delia's eyes snapped to Velvet. "Hits like a comet and is intimidating to hit. No one's going to want to hit something that hard and fast." "Nothing's intimidating to my daughter!" Velvet's eyes also snapped at Delia. "Except for ladybugs and quesadillas but other than that, nothing!" "Hmph! Ash has the most experience, so without a doubt, he'll win!" "I don't think so! Twilight will win since she's a fast learner!" "No, Ash!" "No, Twilight!" "Ash!" "Twilight!" "..." Night Light looked back and forth, drinking some apple juice while the two mothers argue. He was a bit nervous being caught up in this as he was starting to sweat. "Grr!" The two mothers growled at each other before lightning shot out of their eyes, clashing. "Ash!/Twilight! Win this!" "Now, now, ladies." Night Light separated them both. "Don't you think this is a little bit childish?" "No!" They both denied it with loud cries. They were immediately caught up in the heat of the game despite it not fully starting yet. "Eep!" Night Light quickly scurried back at his seat. "Okie Dokie! Let's play with total respect, okay? Both teams bow!" Pinkie Pie declared as the two teams bowed at each other in respect. "Good luck!" The two teams said to each other, ready to start. The teams were all set. They did a small warmup before getting into position. Applejack would be the catcher on Ash's side and so would Rarity for Twilight's side. "Play ball!" Pinkie declared. The first up was Pheromosa as the batter and Ash as the pitcher. They chose Ash because of his amazing throwing skills and history with baseball and Pheromosa for her lightning-fast reflexes. "Phero..." Pheromosa tightened her grip on the bat. The rules of Pokemon Base state that Pokemon can even use their legs, but Pheromosa seemed to abide by natural baseball laws. "Pheromosa, huh? That might be a bit tricky..." Ash observed. "Ash! Don't let her hit a single one!" Oak cried out. "Give it all you've got!" "You got it, Professor Oak!" Ash grinned. "Mosa-Mosa!" "Here goes!" Ash roared as he pulled his arm back, putting some might force into it before throwing it with all his might. When he threw it, the speed on it was absolutely insane and unnatural as it managed to blow the grass away along with Ash's hat in the process. "Phero?!" Pheromosa winced at the sudden speed of this ball. It was faster than she expected. But, she pursued anyway as the Lissome Pokemon gave it all she had by swinging the bat. Unfortunately, she missed the ball due to its brilliant speed, causing the ball to pass by and race towards Applejack who was tasked with catching. "Woahwoahwoahwoahwoahwoah!" Applejack gasped as the incoming ball was coming straight for her and the large glove she had. Closing her eyes out of fear, the speeding ball hit the glove, causing Applejack to tremble along with the ground. A slight shockwave happened from the impact, causing anyone nearby to almost lose their balance as Applejack's bones shuddered. There was now a massive smoking dent in the glove. "Ow...!" "Strike One!" Pinkie Pie shouted. "Right down the middle!" "P-Pheromo?!" "The strength on that is otherworldly..." Gilda gawked as her hair had been a bit ruffled from the shockwave. "Uh-huh..." Aria nodded in agreement. "Was that his Meteor Ball?" Fluttershy adjusted her mane. "Nope. That was just an ordinary throw." Delia laughed with confidence. "My son hasn't even used all he has yet! Hohohoho!" "Tch!" Velvet scoffed. "Nice catch sis!" Apple Bloom cheered. "I almost got vaporized there..." Applejack sighed. "Think you can tone it down a bit Ash?" "Oh. My bad!" Ash laughed. "Don't be too shook up, Pheromosa!" Rarity cried out. "Phero..." Pheromosa might have trouble with that. Due to her fragile and supple body, who knows what would happen if she actually managed to hit that ball. She might've gotten the same treatment as Applejack but worse. A second throw was coming as Pheromosa had two tries left at this rate. Two more strikes and she's out of here. Ash was holding the ball again as he was about to tone it down a smidge this time. "Just a tiny bit. Go!" Ash threw the ball with less force this time as it was now travelling at a speed that Pheromosa herself could actually manage. "Mosa!" The Ultra Beast's eyes locked onto the ball as she believed she found the right moment to strike. Just like Ash from before, Pheromosa decided to give it her all as well as she swung the bat all full force. "Phe!" Once the bat hit the ball, Pheromosa hit it with such force that not only did the ground beneath her tremble but the ball was sent flying like a rocket, soaring into the atmosphere in less than seconds and entering space. "Oh!" Ash and everyone looked up. "Man, that's far and high!" "Foul!" Pinkie Pie exclaimed. "That's strike two! "Phero?!" "Foul?!" Rarity gasped. "Sorry. But hitting it all the way to the orbit's not really gonna do it." Pinkie Pie shrugged while holding the rulebook. "They thought of everything in this book. How neat is that?" "Space is out of the question is it...?" Rarity sighed. "Just a bit lower and it'll be a home run." Pinkie Pie giggled. "One more and that's a strikeout!" Mayor Mare cried out. "Be careful, alright?!" "Phero." "Okay." Ash held another ball in his hand. "Here comes a total strikeout! If not then I've got everyone to count on! Here it comes Pheromosa!" He then threw it with the right amount of force this time. "Pheromosa!" Pheromosa decided not to push herself as she swung her bat at the right amount of force as well. And with that, she was able to hit it a second time, sending the ball at an acceptable height and speed more akin to normal baseball. Then again, none of this was normal. "Nice! Home run!" Mayor Mare stood up. "I got it!" Rainbow Dash called out as she stretched and leaned high enough to catch the ball with her hoof glove. "Haha! "Pheromo?!" "Strike three! Batter out!" "Mosa?!" "Nice job, Dash!" Gilda cheered. "Hahaha!" Oak laughed with confidence. "How's that?! Choosing Ash as the first pitcher was a clear decision!" "Don't get cocky, Samuel!" Mayor Mare growled back. "This isn't over yet! Look alive, Starlight. You're batting next." "Oh! Yes ma'am!" Starlight saluted as she flew over while Pheromosa walked back with Rarity comforting her. "Mosa..." "There there. It was your first go after all. You'll have better luck next time, trust me." Rarity reassured. "Dra!" Dragonite suddenly flew over to Ash. "Dragonite!" "Hm? Dragonite? You wanna pitch next?" Ash translated. "Dra!" She nodded in confirmation. "Alright. You're up. Good luck, Dragonite." Ash passed a new ball to the Dragon Pokemon. "Dra!" As Starlight got in position, she quickly noticed who the pitcher was now. No longer was it Ash but Dragonite. To Starlight, she wasn't sure which was more intimidating. Someone who was very experienced in baseball or a dragon. "Dragonite, huh?" Starlight shuddered as she held the bat by curling her hooves. "It's fine...I got it. I'll knock that ball to pieces!" "They've all practised for this...right?" Sunset asked. "Apparently just yesterday when it was brought up." Fluttershy nodded. "I'm sure they all have the rules covered." "Uh-huh..." Sunset wasn't so sure about this. "Go-Go-Go!" Pinkie waved her hoof around. "Dragon!" Dragonite would be throwing her first baseball as she pulled her arms back before spinning them around, creating a miniature whirlwind. "Uhh...!" Starlight was getting nervous from seeing the windup and sudden gust of wind being formed by Dragonite's arm movements alone. "Gonite!" The Dragon Pokemon then let out a roar before throwing the ball. However, due to Dragonite's gentle nature, the unexpected yet predictable happened. The ball was moving slowly. Oh-so-slowly. "Hah?!" Starlight gasped after witnessing this incredibly slow ball. All that buildup for something that moves as fast as a Shuckle. Dragonite couldn't bring herself to put in a ton of effort to potentially harm her friends. "So slow!" Everyone cried out. "T-That'll just make things easier." Starlight smiled while sweating. But at this point, she would have to wait for the ball to approach her considering its slow movements. Unfortunately, this became a hinder to everyone else as seconds later, some were already starting to fall asleep from this slow ball's little movements as it kept spinning through the air. Some took a break to enjoy their food while the atmosphere became quiet. Some were just sitting patiently as some wild Pokemon casually passed by, moving faster than the ball itself. Speaking of which, a curious Joltik, smaller than everyone else here, hopped onto the ball. Due to its small size and lightweight, it barely made the ball budge as it was still moving slowly. But Joltik now had a fun simple ride to be on. "Joltik!" Starlight's eyes were glued onto the ball as they were about to pop out of her head from how intense she was focusing. The closer it got, the more her eyes stretched out. Eventually, it got close enough as she could finally swing. "Aha! There!" Once given the chance, the unicorn swung the bat, hitting it directly and sending it flying along with the Joltik on it. "Yes, I did it!" "Joltiiiiiiiiiiiiiik!" "Dragon?" "Cinder!" Cinderace saw an opportunity to grab it depending on the direction the ball went as it took off, heading for the base. But, someone was there to stop that. And that someone was Sceptile who lunged forward and grabbed the ball. "Tile!" "Out!" "Cinder?!" Cinderace gasped as it came to a screeching halt, quickly changing directions to the next base. That's where Hatterene stood. "Sceptile!" Sceptile quickly tossed the ball to the base Cinderace ran at as Haxorus was ready to grab it with his taller stature. "Xorus!" The Axe Jaw Pokemon tried to grab the ball, but instead, he missed as it hit the base, bouncing off to the next direction where Applejack was standing as the catcher. "Xo!" "Ace!" Cinderace felt lucky as it pursued the ball. "Oh! That might be a bit too close!" Twilight gasped. "Dragon!" Dragonite put her arms out, calling for Applejack to throw it her way. "Dragonite!" "Got it!" Applejack caught the ball in her hoof gloves while Cinderace sped up, ready to round the next base. And next to Cinderace was Rainbow Dash who was also going for the ball. "Too slow, pal!" "Cinder?!" "Here you go!" Applejack then put all of her hoof strength into this throw, sending it towards the Dragon-Flying-Type. "Block her!" "Cinder!" Cinderace put everything in its powerful legs that were made for running, using the full strength of its footballer tendencies to leave Rainbow Dash in the dust. "Huh?!" "Cinderace!" With extra speed, the Striker Pokemon managed to pass the third base before Dragonite could catch the ball, guaranteeing the chance to reach the final fourth base. "Ace!" "Dra?!" Dragonite's eyes widened as she caught the ball, quickly throwing it at Axew who had just transformed into a Haxorus. "Haxo!" Haxorus put his arms out, roaring at Cinderace. "Cinderace!" But that intimidation didn't work and with that, Cinderace managed to pass the final base before Haxorus got the ball as all four bases were cleared. "You're out!" Pinkie Pie appeared behind Haxorus. "Nice, Cinderace!" Goh and his team cheered. "Looks like you're not just good at soccer!" "Cinderace!" "Hohohoho!" Mayor Mare laughed in Oak's direction. "That inning is almost ours, Samuel!" "Kh!" Professor Oak grabbed his hat, squeezing it. "We'll just see about that!" "What a rush that was!" Chloe and her Yamper smiled as she and others leaned in after witnessing that segment. So far, they were all enjoying this, especially Adagio who didn't think she would. "Yamper!" "If I knew it was going to be this exciting I would've joined in!" Adagio grinned. "See?! Pretty riveting stuff!" Sunset nudged. "Win this blue team!" Aria was rooting for the blue team as well as her sisters. "Next-next-next! Time to switch things up. Blue team, you're batting! Red team! Time to put those throwing skills to good use!" It was time for both sides to swap roles. Professor Oak's team would now be batting while Mayor Mare's Team will bat as they began choosing their players for this swap. This time, Lucario was swinging and Ninetales was pitching. All nine tails were about to be put to good use. Delia and Velvet were looking forward to this since these were essentially Pokemon that belonged to their children. "Lucario's for sure going to hit it! With Aura, how can he lose focus?" Delia grinned. "Hmph! Ninetales has some of that Psychic mind to him, even if he's not a Psychic-Type! He's probably already foreseen it!" Velvet snapped back. "Luca!" Lucario growled as he gripped the bat tightly, gazing at Ninetales. Ninetales did the same with fire being shown in his eyes. Both Pokemon were in absolute concentration. Lucario was focusing his Aura while Ninetales was focusing all of the psychokinetic energy inside of him. Both of their Auras were starting to show. One blue and one purple. "Hit it, Lucario!" Professor Oak and Delia bellowed. "Stop him, Ninetales!" So did Mayor Mare and Twilight Velvet. "Ninetales!" Ninetales jumped into the air, using his Psychic mind to send the ball upwards. The Fox Pokemon then used all nine of his tails to hit the ball exactly nine times in a split-second, giving it amazing power and speed in the process. An aura of fire surrounded the ball as it rocketed towards the Aura Pokemon, already burning the atmosphere around it as Lucario's Aura intensified. "Lucario!" Lucario yelled as he smashed the bat onto the ball. But it didn't immediately fly off. Instead, the ball stayed onto the bat with Lucario trying to knock it away. "L-Lu...!" The ball was moving so fast it was actually starting to push Lucario back as smoke was coming out from the sheer power of it. But, Lucario stood his ground as his Aura was only growing bigger, also covering the flaming ball. "Oh geez...!" Adagio already knew from the looks of this, things were about to escalate unexpectedly as Lucario was starting to push the ball back. "No way! He's pushing that much back?!" Spike gasped. "Nine?! Ninetales couldn't let that happen. To guarantee that Lucario gets a strike. The Fox Pokemon used Mystical Fire by shooting out a red-orange stream of magical fire from his mouth towards the ball, giving it more power and fire than it already had and forcing Lucario back even further. "Lu...Luca!" "Is that even legal?!" Sunset Shimmer screeched. "Totally!" Pinkie Pie showed the Pokemon Base rulebook to everyone. This was in fact allowed. Surprisingly. "C'mon, Lucario! Go-Go-Go!" Sonata and a few others were cheering for Lucario's struggle while others such as Chloe cheered for Ninetales who kept shooting fire from his mouth. "C-Cario!" Lucario smashed his foot onto the ground as he had more to give than Ninetales. With his eyes flashing an azure blue, the Aura Pokemon finished the swing, launching the ball at blazing speeds. "Nine?!" "Pika-Pika!" Pikachu saw this as an opportunity to try and grab the ball. "Hatterene!" Hatterene saw the ball coming towards her at breakneck speeds but she wasn't worried. This time, she wasn't going to miss it. With pure focus, the Silent Pokemon managed to catch the ball with her tentacle claw. "Out!" "Pika!" Pikachu gasped as he quickly ran to the next base while Hatterene threw the ball towards Pheromosa. "Mosa-Mosa!" "Pikachu!" Pikachu managed to round out the first base, running ahead to the second while Pheromosa tossed the ball towards Leavanny. "Pheromo!" "Leavanny!" Leavanny tried to catch the ball with String Shot, but Pikachu quickly used Iron Tail to cut the string in half. "Chu-Pika!" "Lea!?" "Pikachu!" Pikachu then passed by Leavanny as the ball bounced off the base plate, heading to the nearest Pokemon. Twilight was the one who caught the ball as she used her magic to hold it. "Aha! You won't get a win off this!" Twilight declared as she ascended into the sky, using her magic to launch the ball towards Goh. "Goh, catch!" "I got it! I got it!" Goh held his hand out, trying to catch the ball that was coming his way. "Pika-Pikachu!" Pikachu wouldn't let that happen as he used Iron Tail one more time, slamming it on the ground and propelling himself forward while spinning. Before Goh could catch the Ball, Pikachu slammed his tail onto the base Goh stood on, passing him and advancing to the fourth and final base. "Catch, Cinderace!" Goh called out. "Cinder!" Cinderace held his hands out. He tried to stop Pikachu by exuding fire from his body which spread onto the ground of the field. "Pika-Pika-Pika-Pika!" But, that wouldn't work on Pikachu as he forcefully charged through the flames with Quick Attack, smashing his head onto the final base as Cinderace gasped with the ball flying over. "Out! That's that!" Pinkie Pie declared. "Alright, Pikachu!" Ash cheered. "Pika-Pika...!" Pikachu came to a screeching halt as everyone cheered. "Yes! Let's keep this up and all those innings will be ours!" Oak stood up. "It isn't over yet. We'll steal the next inning!" Mayor Mare grinned. "Just watch! Pheromosa. Let's see you put those legs to good use." "Pheromo!" The Lissome Pokemon ran over to the field at lightning speeds, ready to pitch the ball as Rarity lent her one via magic. And as for the other team, Haxorus was chosen as the batter this time by Oak's decision. "Let's see that Equestrian Form at its best." Oak patted Haxorus on the back. "Haxo!" The game then continued with little breaks. The inning wasn't over yet. Both teams needed to bat for it to finish. Or a home run would do and vice versa. Since baseball doesn't have a time limit, the innings are all they need to determine the end of this game. "Haxorus!" This time, Haxorus was batting with Pheromosa as the pitcher. "Phero!" And for this, Pheromosa would use her destructive legs to her advantage. This was actually something Oak was nervous about since he knew how powerful Pheromosa's kicks were but he was trusting Haxorus to knock the ball out of the park and potentially get a home run. "Mosa!" The Ultra Beast tossed the ball up to her head before delivering an earth-shattering kick to it, sending the baseball flying towards the Axe Jaw Pokemon. "Haxo!" Haxorus roared as he swung the bat to try and hit the ball. But he ended up missing it, unfortunately. The ball was caught by Rarity who could feel the recoil. "Eugh!" Rarity shuddered. "Strike One!" "Phero!" Pheromosa smirked as she was given a second ball. Haxorus took time to recover and gain his focus as he promised to not miss this next ball. "Haxorus...!" "Pheromosa!" A second kick at the ball came towards Haxorus at the same speed as before. "Haxorus!" This time, Haxorus actually managed to hit the ball, sending it flying over Pheromosa. "Phero?!" The Lissome Pokemon gasped before witnessing the ball flying. "Haxo!" Haxorus then ran, ready to round out all 4 bases. "Leavan!" But Leavanny wouldn't let that happen as she used String Shot to grab the ball out of the air, stopping Haxorus from advancing. "Out!" "Haha!" Mayor Mare held Twilight, squeezing her with a powerful hug. "Knew I could count on those otherworldly kicks!" "M-Mayor...C-C-C-Can't breathe...!" Twilight was praying for air. "Xorus?!" Haxorus gasped as he reverted into Axew afterwards, pouting. "Axew..." Adagio and her sisters were aggressively eating popcorn since they were so enchanted and pulled in by this fierce game of Pokemon Base. Due to Pheromosa's amazing kicking abilities, they kept her in as the pitcher. Aside from Ash, Pheromosa was a major threat as a pitcher. Maybe not as a batter though unless she decides to use her legs at that moment. With Haxorus being out, the next member of the blue team came in. This time it was Rainbow Dash. "Here I go." Rainbow Dash tapped the bat on the ground, ready for Pheromosa's hard kicks. "Mosa." Pheromosa smiled as she kicked the ball up, using the move Triple Kick on it instead of an ordinary kick. The Lissome Pokemon kicked the ball three, times, adding 3x the power to it as it shot like a missile towards Rainbow Dash. "Gotcha!" Rainbow grunted as he swung the bat, hitting the ball directly. By keeping her focus and ground, she managed to hit the ball and send it flying into the air instead of straight forward. "Phero?!" "Oho!" Oak stood up with a gasp. The ball was flying high to the point where it could reach the outside and score a home run. "Hatterene! Shoot it out of the sky with Psycho Cut!" Starlight ordered. "Hatterene!" The Psychic-Fairy-Type quickly turned her direction to the sky as she shot blades of Psychic power from her tentacle, sending them towards the ball while Rainbow Dash started running to the first base. The blades of Psychic energy ended up hitting the ball, causing it to fall towards Hatterene's direction and instead of outside the field, preventing a home run. However, Rainbow Dash had already passed the first base at this point. "Terrene!" The Silent Pokemon then grabbed the ball when it fell into tentacle claw as she launched the ball towards the second base where Rainbow Dash was headed, right where Cinderace was. "Cinder!" Cinderace held its hands out while Rainbow Dash passed by as a multi-coloured streak. "Haha!" She chuckled after passing Cinderace. "Ace!" But, Cinderace had an ace up its sleeve. By using its signature move Pyro Ball in a unique way, instead of using a pebble, the Striker Pokemon used the baseball as the starter for Pyro Ball. By kicking it a few times and lightning it up, the Fire-Type then jumped into the air, smashing its foot onto the ball of fire and launching it towards the third base. "Uh oh!" Rainbow Dash noticed the blazing ball that could potentially outspeed her. Not wanting any of that, the pegasus herself sped up as she just barely managed to outpace Pyro Ball, passing the third base and going straight for the fourth home base. "Leavanny! Tag her out!" Twilight exclaimed. "Leavan!" The Bug-Grass-Type quickly used String Shot to try and tag Rainbow Dash out. "Oh!" Rainbow Dash winced as she quickly spread her wings out, soaring over the String Shot and preventing a Tag-out. "Van?!" Leavanny gasped as the Pyro Ball hit the base, causing an explosion that made the ball fly forward. Rainbow Dash then connected her hooves with the third base after jumping over the string before galloping towards the final base. "Leavanny!" Leavanny then picked up the ball as she still felt like she could get it to Ninetales before Rainbow Dash can get there. She instantly used X-Scissor, hitting the ball with all she had and sending it flying. "Ninetales...!" Ninetales' eyes flared as he looked at the ball. He was going to use Hidden Power Dragon to try and obstruct Rainbow Dash's view and focus. His body was outlined in a purplish-blue draconic aura as Rainbow Dash narrowed her eyes, knowing that this might not end well for her. "Tales!" "The Fox Pokemon then unleashed multiple purplish-blue circles from his body, shooting them at the ground and causing a purplish-blue smokescreen to occur and a gigantic crater. Rainbow Dash closed her eyes as she was going to wing it through the smoke. Very literally. When she got close, she used the wing beat of her wings to blow the smoke away while also lunging forward. But there was still the crater to deal with as she was seen being engulfed in the explosion. Once the smoke cleared, Rainbow Dash had been revealed to have touched the base plate. But only by a smidge after moving through the smoke and explosion with her mane being an absolute mess. "O-Ow..." She twitched. "Oh!" Pinkie Pie's shot over. "That's a score, safe and out!" "Yes!" Rainbow Dash cheered as she raised her hooves. "I did it! Wait...do we win now?" "Well, 20 minutes just passed...nice timing as always Dash." Pinkie Pie nudged the pegasus. "But scoring that next point means that Blue Team wins!" "Ohohoh! Amazing job Rainbow Dash!" Oak raised his hands. "What a shame..." Mayor Mare sighed. "Ash/Twilight didn't even get to pitch against each other..." Delia and Velvet pouted while Night Light was relieved about this. "Disaster averted..." He put his hooves around his back. "That was worth it, for sure." Adagio nodded. "It was fun, wasn't it Yamper?" Chloe picked Yamper up. "Yamper! Yamper!" "Well then, Samuel. Same thing next month?" Mayor Mare asked. "Deal. We'll make it a longer inning next time." Professor Oak shook Mayor Mare's hoof. The other teammates went up and shook the hooves, hands, claws and paws of their opponents, bowing to each other after a good game. "Good game!" They all said. "Say, Ash. Can you teach me pitching skills for next time?" Applejack asked. "Sure. I've still got a lot more throwing tricks up my sleeve with this." "Pikachu!" As the journey continues. Chapter 423 End.
