Rainbow Falls. Day. The Fifth Gym Battle.
Currently, Rainbow Dash's fifth Gym Battle against the Gym Leader Soarin was underway. And so far, both trainers seem to be on an equal level.
Rainbow Dash has lost one Pokemon, her Castform while Soarin has lost two Pokemon, his Eiscue and Excadrill. This Gym Battle is far from over at this point.
"First. I'll deal with that Torkoal over there." Rainbow Dash pointed her hoof at Soarin's Torkoal.
"Tor?"
"You'll have to get past my Boltund first if you wish to do that. If you can outspeed him that is." Soarin smirked.
"Bolt!"
"Doh, he's right..." Rainbow Dash thought to herself as she growled. "Keeping up with Boltund's speed is gonna be tough. My only hope is that Whirlipede can gain enough speed to be faster than him." She then shifted her eyes on Torkoal, coming up with a plan. "I got something alright."
"Allow me to make the next move. Boltund! Psychic Fangs! And Torkoal! Iron Defence again!"
"Koal!" Torkoal increased his already stellar defence a third time. By this point, he was nigh-indestructible in terms of physical defence.
"Bol!" Boltund opened his mouth as Psychic energy flowed through his teeth. The Dog Pokemon then later ran forward, heading for Mienfoo.
"Iron Defense again?" Fluttershy said.
"Soarin knows that most of Rainbow Dash's Pokemon are great when it comes to physical attack. The only ones exempt from that are Altaria and Castform who are great with long distance. But Castform's down and two of Altaria's moves aren't very effective against Torkoal." Twilight observed. "Rainbow Dash is trying to get rid of that weakness as fast as she can."
"Watch this! Whirlipede! Venoshock on Torkoal! Mienfoo, Fury Swipes!"
"Mien!" Mienfoo stomped her feet as she unleashed her hidden claws which started glowing.
"Pede!" As for Whirlipede, he turned his focus towards Torkoal as an orb of poison formed in front of him.
"Block Venoshock from reaching Torkoal!"
"Tund!" Boltund, who was close to reaching Mienfoo, changed directions, throwing the Martial Arts Pokemon off guard as he went for another target that could prove to be a threat to his partner.
"Mien?"
"Don't let him! Go, Mienfoo!"
"Foo!" But, Mienfoo wouldn't let her eyes off her target. She also changed directions by running straight for the Dog Pokemon, trying to keep up with him.
"Whirl!" Out of the orb, a sharp blast of poison came flying out, heading straight for Torkoal.
"Boltund!" Boltund easily outpaced Mienfoo as he lunged into the air, using psychic energy of Psychic fangs to get in the way of Venoshock and bite into the poison itself. All that Psychic energy interacted with the poison, obliterating it.
"Whirl?!"
"Mienfoo!" Mienfoo had just caught up to Boltund, going straight for Fury Swipes as she pulled her arms back. But Boltund hadn't forgotten about Mienfoo. After destroying Venoshock, he quickly turned around, opening his mouth with Psychic Fangs still active. His sharp teeth ended up connecting with Mienfoo's claws.
"Nice! Now! Use Stone Edge on Whirlipede!"
"Torkoal!" Torkoal then stomped its legs down on the floor, summoning sharp blue crystals that rapidly emerged like an erupting volcano. The crystals then raced over to Whirlipede, ready to deal some super-effective damage.
"Not good! Ignore Boltund and protect Whirlipede!"
"Mien!" Mienfoo nodded as she ran past Boltund, changing focus. However, Boltund wouldn't just let her go. The Dog Pokemon turned around, immediately biting his Psychic teeth onto Mienfoo's arm, holding her in place.
"Bolt!"
"M-Mienfoo?!" Mienfoo winced as not only was she being held in place but the Psychic energy from Psychic fangs just dealt super effective damage.
"Ah! Forget it! Just charge through with Rollout then!" Rainbow Dash decided to go for a riskier option since Mienfoo was a bit occupied right now.
"Whirlipede!" Thanks to his increase in speed thanks to Speed Boost and Rollout being powered up each time it's used, the Curlipede Pokemon left the spot he stood on, taking off like a rocket as he was heading straight for the rising crystals.
This was a major gamble since there's a good chance this could take Whirlipede out. But it was a gamble he was willing to take as he narrowed his eyes. The Curlipede Pokemon then smashed into the rising crystals as two Rock-Type moves had collided.
And instead of charging through it, both attacks cancelled each other out. However, Whirlipede did take some recoil from crashing into the crystals as he bounced back like a ball. He had definitely taken some damage from that while the crystals shattered, putting an end to Stone Edge.
"P-Pede!"
"That at least worked..." Rainbow Dash sighed. "But it should be fine now. Rollout's stronger than ever and Whilripede's faster too. So the next Stone Edge is toast."
"Foo!" Mienfoo then tossed Boltund off her, finally breaking the hold as there were bite marks on her hands.
"If I don't get rid of that Torkoal, things are gonna get rough. But Boltund's a problem too. I've got one option. Return, for now, Whirlipede." She decided to recall Whirlipede. And yet, Mienfoo stayed in. So far, Mienfoo is the one who has been battling longer than her teammates, even when being switched out earlier. It's that Fighting-Type spirit that allows her to keep going.
"Another return? Maybe I've got her on the ropes now." Soarin believed.
"That Torkoal's going down! And so is that Boltund!" Rainbow Dash sent out her next Pokemon to fight alongside Mienfoo. "Let's go Altaria!"
"Altaria!"
"Oh, Altaria?!" Soarin looked up. "That's no problem! Torkoal! Stone Edge on Altaria! And Boltund, use Psychic Fangs on Mienfoo."
"Stone edge this! Dragon Pulse at full strength! And Mienfoo! Stay there for a sec!"
"Alta!" With high energy, Altaria opened her mouth as she fired a dragon-shaped shockwave from her mouth while Mienfoo stood still, waiting for Boltund to strike.
"Torkoal!" Torkoal surrounded himself with stones as he shot them towards the Humming Pokemon while Boltund went straight for Mienfoo.
Dragon Pulse ended up colliding with Stone Edge, cancelling each other out as Boltund's Psychic Fangs bit onto Mienfoo's arms once more with a purple explosion of Psychic energy coming out, causing Mienfoo to take super-effective damage while also being launched back from the explosion.
"M-Mien!"
"Now, Reversal!"
"Foo!" Mienfoo's eyes glared as this is why Rainbow Dash wanted her to stay put. After taking all that damage, Mienfoo returned it Boltund by sliding on the floor and launching herself towards Boltund with her palm glowing orange.
"Bolt?"
"MIenfoo!" Mienfoo then smashed her glowing palm onto the Dog Pokemon's face, dealing all the damage that she had felt and making him feel it instead.
"B-Boltund!" After being given a strong hit to the face and taking all the damage that had been caused to Mienfoo the entire battle ever since the start, Boltund went flying like a rocket, going a far distance from Mienfoo's potent hit.
"Dragon Pulse one more time!"
"Altaria!" Altaria turned her focus to Torkoal, firing another dragon-shaped blast from her mouth.
"Counter with Flamethrower, quick!"
"Stop him with Acrobatics, Mienfoo!"
"Mien!" Mienfoo quickly snapped her eyes towards Torkoal as she did numerous flips towards the Coal Pokemon before he could fire Flamethrower.
"Tor...!" Torkoal opened his mouth as his shell was starting to spew out flames. The fire began emerging as Torkoal was ready to unleash the all-consuming blast of fire.
"Foo!" But before he could do that, Mienfoo with the speed of Acrobatics, smashed her paw into Torkoal's mouth, forcing the fire back in and preventing the Coal Pokemon from releasing it.
"Koal?!"
"Mienfoo!" Mienfoo backflipped as she did her job. She was only there to stop the attack and allow Dragon Pulse to hit Torkoal. And an opportunity was indeed granted.
Thanks to Mienfoo's actions, Dragon Pulse struck Torkoal before he could counter back. An explosion of draconic energy formed, rumbling the gym a little bit.
"Oh, no! Torkoal!" Soarin gasped along with his Boltund.
"Bol!"
Once that smoke cleared with little dragon sparkles flying out, the nigh-invincible Torkoal had finally been taken down after so long.
"Torkoal..."
"Torkoal is unable to battle! That's another Pokemon down on Soarin's side! Soarin now has three Pokemon remaining."
"Finally!" Rainbow Dash cheered along with her Pokemon. "That takes care of that problem."
"Mienfoo!"
"Altaria!"
"Great! Now there's only three Pokemon left to deal with!" Applejack exclaimed.
"Great going, Rainbow Dash!" Pinkie Pie ferociously clapped her hooves as everyone cheered for their friend. But it wasn't over yet. There was still more to expect from Soarin.
"Return, Torkoal," Soarin called his Torkoal back. "Thanks for holding out till the end."
"So, Soarin. What now, big guy? I've just taken out your tank!"
"Hm." Soarin placed Torkoal's Poke Ball away before pulling out another one. "Yeah, you did. I'm really being backed into a corner right now. But it's cool. Boltund's got my back."
"Boltund!"
"Besides. I've got one Pokemon that can change it all up. Hope you've got some Grass moves with you."
"Hm?" Rainbow Dash narrowed her eyes.
"Let's go! Seismitoad!" Soarin sent out his next fearsome Pokemon, the Vibration Pokemon Seismitoad.
"Seismitoad!"
"Seismitoad?!" Rainbow Dash then quickly realized what Seismitoad meant for this battle as she began thinking to herself. "Not good. Only Castform had a Grass move and that was Energy Ball. Other than that, this thing might be just as tough to take down like Torkoal. But it's fine...I'll find a way through this."
"Rain Dance, go."
"Seis!" Seismitoad began dancing around, changing the weather patterns and the skies themselves. Rainbow Dash stayed sharp as her eyes narrowed along with her Pokemon.
Rain began to fall, pouring down into the Gym which had its roof always open. The floor already became wet due to how heavy the rain was along with everybody's hair or fur.
"Heh. Get ready. This is where my Pokemon really shine."
"Hm?" Rainbow Dash raised an eyebrow.
"Seismitoad! Ice Punch! Boltund! Thunder!"
"Bolt!" Thanks to Rain Dance, Thunder has been improved greatly. Electricity began sparking in the rain clouds, ready to smite Mienfoo while Seismitoad began running towards Altaria with impressive speeds.
"Mienfoo! Dodge! And Altaria, use Moonblast!"
"Alta...!" Altaria gathered energy from the moon itself as she then forms an orb of pink energy from her mouth. However, before she could fire it, out of nowhere, Seismitoad, a fairly slow Pokemon, not the fastest out there, moved at sudden high speeds that were unpredictable as he appeared in front of Altaria in seconds.
"Seis!"
"Alta?!"
"What the?!" Even Rainbow Dash was surprised by how fast Seismitoad had moved.
"Toad!" The Vibration Pokemon smashed his chilling hands onto the face of the humming Pokemon, dealing super-effective damage as Altaria had been launched by this up-close strike.
"Tari!"
As for Altaria, due to Rain Dance helping Thunder, when the bolt of lightning came soaring down, Altaria's attempt to dodge it had failed as she had been hit by Thunder faster than she could react. Unfortunately, her speed isn't quite on the level to keep up with a thunderstorm. At least not yet.
"Mien!"
"Altaria! Mienfoo!"
"How did that Seismitoad move so fast?!" Pinkie Pie screeched.
"It's Swift Swim." Ash noticed. "It's an ability that boosts a Pokemon's speed in the rain. And by a lot too. And that Thunder from Boltund's better than ever thanks to Rain Dance."
"He wasn't kidding when he said this is where they shined." Twilight gulped.
"Pika."
Rainbow Dash witnessed both her Pokemon tumble on the wet floor as they had both taken equally heavy damage from different elements. However, much to Rainbow's chagrin, only one of them could stand back up.
And that was Altaria, who immediately got back up after that devastating Ice Punch. But the same couldn't be said for Mienfoo who had fainted.
"M-Mienfoo..."
"Mienfoo is unable to battle! That's another Pokemon on Rainbow Dash's side down! Rainbow Dash now has four Pokemon remaining.
"Ugh..." Rainbow Dash lowered her head. "Sorry, Mienfoo." She then recalled the Martial Arts Pokemon. "You did your best and really helped out there. Now get some rest."
"How's that speed, Rainbow? My Seismitoad and Boltund together are a force to be reckoned with. They hit hard and move fast. In the rain that is."
"Tch. Yeah, yeah." Rainbow placed the Poke Ball back in her bag before taking another one out. "We're just getting started! Come out, Braviary!"
"Braviary!"
"This doesn't look good..." Twilight noticed a few cracks in this battle. "At this point, all of Rainbow Dash's Pokemon are vulnerable to both Seismitoad and Boltund. And I'm not sure about Soarin's last Pokemon."
"Can't believe it's so fast in the rain. But, Braviary's faster than Seismitoad even with Swift Swim, right?" Applejack said.
"Hopefully. Unless she uses Rainbow-Braviary or Mega Evolution, this might be a total loss." Twilight shuddered.
"We won't lose this. Not at all." Rainbow Dash looked up at her goggles and Altaria's necklace. "I can't risk any more of my Pokemon going down. Especially Altaria. It's time I really went all out."
"Oh?" Soarin noticed that Rainbow Dash was starting to interact with her goggles.
"Here goes!" She tapped on the ring as Mega Evolution had been activated. Golden lights flared out of her goggles blue lights came out of Altaria.
Both forms of light formed a DNA symbol as they began meshing together. The lights then shot into Altaria, surrounding the Humming Pokemon in a red aura. Altaria cried out as she could feel her power rising and her form alternating. Soarin stayed sharp on his hooves as he was expecting Mega Evolution eventually. Just not when he was down to three Pokemon only.
"Altaria!" Out of the red aura, Mega Altaria had emerged.
"Let's finish this quick you two. That fifth Gym Badge is within our sights!"
"Viary!"
"Taria!"
"I don't think so! Seismitoad, use Poison jab! Boltund! Thunder!"
"Seis!" Seismitoard covered his hands in poison while Boltund summoned another thunderstorm with the clouds sparking.
"Altaria! Hyper Voice! Show them that Fairy energy! And Braviary, use Steel Wing to absorb the electricity!"
"Taria!" Due to being a Dragon-Fairy when Mega Evolving, Altaria's ability is now Pixilate. Meaning that all Normal-Types move become Fairy moves. Altaria screamed, creating a pink wave of energy that blew towards Seismitoad while Braviary hardened his wings, preparing for Thunder.
"T-T-Toad!" Seismitoad had actually been pushed back by the force of Altaria's screaming, he couldn't get close. because of the soundwaves.
As for Braviary, the giant bolt of lightning came crashing down, heading straight for him. He closed his eyes as he allowed Thunder to smite him from above.
His hardened metal wings immediately connected, conducting all of that potent electricity onto him. Braviary did feel the powerful sting of Thunder as he winced. But now, he had electric wings with lightning surrounding them. A great combination.
"Now hit Boltund with it!"
"Braviary!" Braviary dived towards the Dog Pokemon with his Electrified Steel Wings, ready to strike. It was certainly not going to do any super-effective damage due to Boltund's typing, but it would leave a mark, that's for sure.
"Boltund, use Flame Charge!"
"Boltund!" Boltund ran forward, surrounding his body in flames afterwards as he lunged towards the approaching Valiant Pokemon. Both Pokemon clashed with Braviary's wings colliding against Boltund's head. Their clash was brief as they both managed to harm each other via double knockback.
"V-Viary!" Braviary went rolling through the air while Boltund slumped on the ground. His speed did increase thanks to Flame Charge, however.
As for Seismitoad, because of Altaria's Hyper Voice, he couldn't get close. So he was forced back as a distance had been created from both Pokemon.
"S-Seismitoad!"
"Let's swap! Seismitoad, go for Braviary and use Ice Punch! And Boltund, go for Altaria and use Play Rough!"
A swap of targets had been made. Both Pokemon still had moves that were effective on their opponents. Even after becoming a Dragon-Fairy-Type, Altaria was still vulnerable to Fairy, unfortunately.
Seismitoad moved swiftly in the rain by running at impressive speeds while Boltund outpaced him. Both Pokemon went in different directions, changing their targets as Boltund lunged towards the Humming Pokemon with incredible jumping strength.
"Yikes! Braviary! Counter with Superpower! Altaria, Hyper Voice again!"
"Braviary!" Braviary put his wings together, surrounding them with high amounts of power while Altaria opened her mouth, ready to blow Boltund away.
"Toad!" Seismitoad jumped lunged towards Braviary, using the rain as acceleration as he was closer to Braviary than expected. Braviary separated his wings as he swiped them towards the Vibration Pokemon.
The two of them didn't actually clash their attacks with each other. Instead, they hit each other in the face. Braviary's wings socked Seismitoad's face while Seismitoad's ice-covered hands hit Braviary's beak. Due to them both hitting each other with Braviary taking the worst out of it due to a super-effective hit, they launched each other back, hitting the ground hard as Braviary had been frozen.
"Oh, no, Braviary!" Rainbow Dash witnessed her partner in an icy prison as he hit the ground.
"Taria!" Altaria let out a powerful soundwave of Fairy energy that went straight for Boltund who was above her. Boltund had been pushed back by Hyper Voice as Altaria once again gained some distance from her opponents.
"You can't stay back forever! Thunder!"
"Tund!" Boltund recovered by sliding on the ground and summoning a blast of thunder from the clouds, going straight for Altaria.
"Dodge it!"
"Tari!" Altaria gasped as she rapidly flapped her wings, trying to avoid Thunder. However, not even Altaria could avoid the powered-up Thunder because of all the rain flowing around. She had been smitten by the bolt of lightning but thanks to her Dragon-Typing, she could resist it. But it certainly stung and left a mark.
The Humming Pokemon winced as she had been knocked out of the sky due to the sheer power of Thunder. Now, she was on a lower level. A level where anything below could get her.
"Now that Braviary's occupied in there! Focus all of your attention on Altaria! Poison Jab and Play Rough!"
"Blow them away, Altaria, quick! Use Hyper Voice!"
"Alta...!" Altaria attempted to send her targets flying with a soundwave, but she couldn't do it in time. Seismitoad Swift Swim and Boltund's speed wouldn't let her. Boltund was the first to hit her as he cloaked her with a thick, white smoke surrounded by stars while Seismitoad jumped in, thrusting his poison-clad hands forward.
"No, Altaria!"
"Tari!" Altaria had been hit in the chest by a poisonous hit while being rapidly attacked by Boltund on all sides, taking super-effective damage. Not only that but she had been poisoned by Poison Jab, only making this worse for her as Seismitoad kept using it repeatedly.
"Braviary! You gotta break out and help Altaria! Use Superpower or Steel Wing!"
"V-Vi...!" Braviary could hear Rainbow Dash's cry. Even if he were to be swapped out, the status condition wouldn't just go away. But, there was still a chance to break free as he had two options to do so. Steel Wing was out of the question due to his frozen wings, but Superpower might do the trick. The Valiant Pokemon was building up power in his body, trying his best to break the icy prison.
"Darn it...Altaria break free if you can! However which way you want!"
"A-Alta!" Altaria winced as the constant attacking from Boltund and Seismitoad seemed endless. Not wanting to fail Rainbow Dash, the Humming Pokemon took it upon herself to find a way out. When Boltund and Seismitoad went for another attack, Altaria used her wide wings to smack the Dog and Vibration Pokemon square in the face. They may be soft but when used right they can really smart.
"Seis?!"
"Tund?!" Boltund and Seismitoad had both been struck by Altaria's wings, flying out of the smoke as she had finally been freed from the onslaught.
"T-Tari...!" Altaria breathed in and out, obviously feeling overwhelmed from that combination of Poison Jab and Play Rough. It was surprising that she could still stand even after taking those super-effective moves.
However, thanks to Seismitoad, she had now been poisoned.
"B-Braviary!" Braviary was actually starting to slowly crack the ice with Superpower. Granted, it was taking time.
"Yeesh. No matter what, that Altaria won't let anyone get close to her. Oh, well! How apart super far away though! Seismitoad, use Hydro Pump and Boltund, use Thunder!"
"Bol...!"
"Seis...!"
Both Pokemon were ready to unleash their strongest attacks as the rumbling of thunder could be heard while a giant orb of water was made from Seismitoad's hands. At this point, even if she resisted both attacks, Altaria's current state along with the poison status will surely make her faint.
"B-B-Braviary!" Not wanting her friend to take any further damage, Braviary finally reached critical mass with Superpower as he shattered his icy prison with ice shards scattering everywhere. The Valiant Pokemon then flew as fast as he could, getting in front of Altaria and acting as her shield.
"Altaria?!"
"Tund!"
"Toad!" In unison, both attacks came flying out. A blast of lightning came from the sky while a high volume blast of water with great pressure flew forward. All were now aimed towards Braviary.
Braviary put his wings together, closing his eyes as he protected Altaria from any harm. The blast of lightning and water had hit him directly. At the same time, he had been engulfed and smitten by two different attacks as he kept his wings up while Altaria closed her eyes.
Afterwards, both attacks blew up. One of water and one of electricity. And it all happened right on Braviary and no one else. Altaria did feel a slight aftershock.
"Braviary!" Rainbow Dash cried out. She didn't expect Braviary to block the attack for Altaria. Even Soarin and his Pokemon were taken back by this.
"Tari?!"
The smoke was clearing after that fierce hit as everyone leaned in to see the condition of Braviary. After being hit by such potent attacks, even one that was super-effective, it looked like that was it for Braviary.
But it wasn't.
Lo and behold, once the smoke vanished, Braviary was still standing with his wings up. He had not only blocked Hydro Pump and Thunder, but he also powered through it as he breathed in and out. However, as a drawback, he had been paralyzed.
"B-Braviary...!"
"No way!" Soarin's jaw dropped.
"How did he withstand that?!" Rarity and Applejack both exclaimed.
"I don't have an answer for that..." Twilight shook her head.
"Braviary...You're so awesome!" Rainbow Dash fangirled over Braviary's impressive defence of his friend.
"Viary." Braviary turned around, showing off a smirk.
"Alta?" Altaria looked up at Braviary, stunned at his protection of her.
"Thanks, Braviary. But maybe you should take a break for now." Rainbow Dash chose to recall Braviary, saving him for another turn. "Altaria?"
"Alta." Altaria still believed she could continue as she chose to stay in. Besides, returning her wouldn't get rid of the poison or Mega Evolution until the battle was over.
"Okay." Rainbow Dash nodded as she sighed. She knew she had options left. One of which she was fearful of. Seismitoad was actually a major threat to two of her Pokemon. Luxray and Whirlipede. "Luxray can't do a thing to Seismitoad and Whilripede's an easy target. But, I need to count on them."
"Altaria." Altaria looked at her two opponents, still having the strength to continue. Even if it was weakening because of the poison.
"Maybe...I can freeze one of them with Ice Fang..." Rainbow Dash took out Luxray's Poke Ball, throwing it. "'Kay! Go Luxray!"
"Luxray!"
"Luxray! Time for you to get some revenge for Castform! And keep Altaria safe okay?"
"Ray!"
"How about we return the favour to you! Use Ice Fang! Altaria, Dragon Pulse!"
"Ray!" Luxray's eyes flared with his teeth becoming engulfed in a chilling aura. The Gleam Eyes Pokemon then bolted forward, heading straight for Seismitoad and Boltund both while Altaria ascended, preparing a full power Dragon Pulse.
"Seismitoad! Poison Jab! Boltund! Play Rough!" Soarin order as both his Pokemon advanced with Seismitoad running and Boltund lunging. Boltund actually jumped onto Seismitoad's back, getting some better airtime and height as he went for Altaria.
"Lux!" But, Luxray was determined to follow Rainbow Dash's command and protect Altaria. When getting close to Seismitoad, the Gleam Eyes Pokemon copied what Boltund had done as he jumped up, avoiding Seismitoad's arm swipe.
"Toad?" Seismitoad noticed that he had missed Poison Jab due to Luxray jumping over him. But not only did he jump over the Vibration Pokemon, but just like Boltund, Luxray used Seismitoad's large build as a means to get some better height. This time it was the head instead of the back.
"Ray!" By using Seismitoad's head, the Gleam Eyes Pokemon leapt, gaining great heights as he rocketed towards his fellow Electric-Type.
"Bol? Boltund turned around, noticing that Luxray was heading for him with Ice Fang ready. "Tund?!"
"Luxray!" With ferocity, Luxray bit onto Boltund's tail, landing an attack as Boltund's focus had been thrown off, causing him to miss Play Rough and Altaria by an inch.
"Bolt!" Boltund's eyes widened as he had been dragged down with Luxray. Not only that, but due to him sinking his teeth deep, Luxray's Ice Fang started freezing the Dog Pokemon starting with his tail.
Both Electric-Types hit the ground hard, taking damage together while Altaria finally released Dragon Pulse, sending it to Seismitoad who was by far the biggest threat here.
"Seismitoad?!" Semsmitoad gasped as he had been hit dead-on with a Dragon Pulse, knocking him back. Meanwhile, Boltund managed to shake Luxray off by kicking him with his paws but at the cost of his tail being frozen. If Luxray stayed on any further, soon, Boltund's legs would've been next.
"Boltund, Flame Charge!
"Bolt!" Boltund quickly ignited his body in a blazing aura as he charged towards Luxray.
"Wild Charge!"
"Lux!" Luxray did the same thing but with electricity instead. Both Electric-Types butted heads, growling at each other. They started going back and forth as they were moving at seemingly equal speeds but Boltund's was increasing over time.
Soon, they were moving so fast that the only thing that could be seen by everyone was a lightning bolt and a stream of fire hitting each other continuously. But the stream of fire was growing in speed while Luxray kept taking recoil damage.
"Hang in there, Luxray!"
"Lux!" Luxray roared as he and Boltund crashed their heads into each other one last time. This time, their clash had separated them as they had stopped moving around. Due to their back and forth movements, there were skid marks everywhere.
"From behind, Seismitoad! Ice Punch on Luxray!"
"Seis!" Seismitoad hadn't forgotten about Luxray as he approached the Gleam Eyes Pokemon from behind while he was facing Boltund.
"Iron Tail both ways and Dragon Pulse!"
"Ray!" Luxray snarled as he hardened his tail. First, he actually hit Boltund with Iron Tail instead of the approaching Seismitoad, knocking the Dog Pokemon away with not very effective damage. But, Boltund was now starting to wear down.
After hitting Boltund, the moment Seismitoad came close, Luxray swung his tail again, clashing with Ice Punch. Due to the Steel properties of Iron Tail, not only did Luxray's tail not freeze, but the ice from Ice Punch shattered.
"Toad?!"
"Luxray!" Luxray quickly gave Seismitoad a second Iron Tail by slapping him in the face before moving back. It was Altaria's tail. After that hard slap in the face, Altaria found an opening while Seismitoad was staggered.
"Alta!" Altaria quickly fired Dragon Pulse from her mouth as it raced towards the staggered Seismitoad. The Vibration Pokemon held his face as the last thing he saw was a giant dragon heading for him.
Before he could say anything, Dragon Pulse had struck, landing its mark while Boltund watched his partner take the full-brunt of Dragon Pulse.
And after that head-on Dragon Pulse, with the blue smoke clearing, Seismitoad flew out of the smoke, falling on his back. Finally, the biggest threat here had been taken out. And due to that, the rain had stopped.
Seismitoad had fainted.
"Seismitoad..."
"Seismitoad is unable to battle! That's another Pokemon from Soarin's side down! Soarin now has two Pokemon remaining.
"Yes! Just a bit more!" Rainbow Dash flapped her wings with excitement as Luxray and Altaria smiled.
"Great! This is stressful to watch but so exciting too!" Rarity clapped her hooves. "I think my heart skipped a few beats..."
"Same here..." Fluttershy nodded.
"Boltund looks weak now too!" Twilight observed. "And Rainbow Dash still has more Pokemon active!"
"But Soarin's Corviknight's no joke," Ash replied. Throughout his years of battling, he knew that the final Pokemon is always the one that can give out the most trouble. "Good luck, Rainbow."
"Pikachu."
"Alta-Altaria..." Altaria was still suffering from the poison effect. But she was hanging in there. However, it may not be for long.
"Thank you. Return, Seismitoad." Soarin called his Seismitoad back, before getting out his final Poke Ball. "I'll make sure we win this. You're my ace in the hole, Corviknight."
"Hang in there, Altaria. Luxray's got your back. So do Braviary and Whirlipede."
"Luxray."
"Taria!"
"Ths is it! Go, Corviknight!" Out came Soarin's strongest Pokemon. Corviknight.
"Corviknight!"
It was now coming down to the wire. Soarin only had two Pokemon remaining. One in good condition while the other has already suffered damage. However, each of Rainbow Dash's own Pokemon have suffered damage themselves and are on the verge of fainting. Soarin is one Gym Leader that was more than hard to overcome.
But, Rainbow Dash's determination to achieve that badge wouldn't let her give up as the journey continues.
