Life As The Power Ponies

Chapter 1: Beginning Pt. 1

Just another night in the city of Maretropolis. Ponies come and go and lots of villains come and go as well. Two fillies were walking through an alleyway, one was pink with purple and white curls and the other was grey with a silver braid. They walked through but unknown to them was a figure was watching them, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

Just as the two fillies were about to make it to the other side, the figure jumped out, making the two fillies scream. The figure had a light pink coat and a purple mane with dark purple and teal highlights. She wore a black mask and a black suit. She used it for fashion, not for hiding her identity. She was already known as Starlight Glimmer. She was one of the bad guys that lived in Maretropolis.

Both of the fillies started running the other direction and Starlight was about to follow when another figure jumped out and pinned her to the wall, “Ya really should stop targetting fillies, Starlight.” The new figure looked at the fillies and gestured them to run, and they did.

Starlight groaned at the sight of her targets getting away, “You again, Marevelous?! I swear that we’re meeting every night now. I was just having some fun with these fillies here, didn’t mean to scare them...”

Mistress Marevelous was an orange earth pony with a blond mane. She wore a red jumpsuit with a black mask covering most of her face. Her hair was covered mostly in green wraps. There were pockets on each side of her outfit that had golden horseshoes and her lasso.

Marevelous rolled her eyes, “Yeah, yeah. Lie all you want,” She lifted up her lasso, planning to tie her up, “You’re coming with me-“ She got cut off when Starlight used her magic to blast Marevelous off of her, and she started to run away, “Hey!”

Starlight ran out of the alley with Marevelous chasing her, “What’s wrong? To slow to catch me, Marevelous?” She mocked as she started up her magic to teleport away. Marevelous got out her horseshoes to throw at her when an ice beam was shot from above them and it froze Starlight in place.

Marevelous looked up and saw the Masked Matterhorn flying down from above her, “Thought you could use some help, Marevelous.”

The Masked Matterhorn was a purple alicorn with a dark navy mane that had purple and magenta highlights. Her outfit was a reddish-purple jumpsuit with some icy blue accents and the same reddish-purple color for her mask with yellow goggles and an icy blue accent covering her horn.

“Thanks but I was about to get her on my own, Matterhorn.” Marevelous took out her rope and used it to tie it around a frozen Starlight Glimmer.

Matterhorn sighed, “Just trying to help” She grumbled under her breath. The police arrived at the scene not long after Marevelous tied her roped around Starlight.

The head of police, Shining Armor, came out of the police car and started walking towards the two heroes, “Well done, Marevelous and Matterhorn. You caught Starlight again. We’ll have to put her in maximum security if she escapes right after you caught her again.”

“Yeah, no problem-“ It’s really not necessary-“ The two heroes wanted to scowl at each other but they had to keep their cool in front of the police. And they started talking again without interrupting each other.

Maretropolis had three current heroes. The Masked Matterhorn, Mistress Marevelous, and Radiance. These three ponies had never got along with each other during any time at all. Though the most stubborn out of all of them has to be Mistress Marevelous. Every time one of the heroes helped her, she would always tell them off that she doesn’t need any help and that she could handle this on her own.

Matterhorn and Radiance wouldn’t mind getting help, but not Marevelous. She’s way too stubborn to even want to accept help. She’d always hop off or tell them off again and again. But Radiance and Matterhorn keep trying to get her to accept the help since there are three heroes in Maretropolis, not just one.

In a boutique, two unicorns and an earth pony were setting up the dresses for the display. One of the unicorns had a white coat and curly purple hair while the other had a light blue coat and a sunset-colored mane. The earth pony had a cream-colored coat and a light blue mane.

“What do you think, Coco? Too much?” The purple maned unicorn asked.

“I think it’s lovely, Rarity.” Coco turned towards the blue unicorn, “But what do you think, Sassy?”

Sassy came towards the displayed outfits, “I think they’re exquisite. Though if you rotated this dress a little bit more to the left, it’ll look better.”

Rarity rolled her eyes playfully, “Always for the details, aren’t you, Sassy?”

“Well, you know me, Rarity.” She smiled. Rarity turned the mannequin to the left, “There we go. Much better, Rarity. Say, when are you going to model these?”

She looked back at them and stroked her chin, “Hmm, I’m not sure yet.”

“I wish I could help model them for you.” Coco wished.

Sassy sighed in sadness as well, “Yes, me too. But I’m afraid that we still have too many visible scars to model in front of a crowd, Coco.”

Rarity looked at the scars on two of her friends that were caused by an unknown villain. She was about to say something when the TV switched into the news channel and it showed the villain Starlight Glimmer being caught by Mistress Marevelous and the Masked Matterhorn.

Three of the fashion ponies watched the news and once it ended, Rarity said, “Oh dear, I missed the fight again. Hope I don’t get a lecture from Matterhorn for being missing from the again.”

Coco came up to her and placed a hoof on her shoulder, “Don’t worry Rarity. You were busy, I’m sure Marevelous and Matterhorn get busy too from time to time.”

Sassy walked towards them and nodded, “Yes. You can’t be Radiance and Rarity all the time. You still have your own personal life here.”

Rarity sighed, “You’re right. Just because I missed one fight, doesn’t mean I’m not a hero anymore.” Her friends nodded ‘Mhm’ and Rarity came up to them and hugged them, “You’re the best friends a pony could ever ask for.”

A few pegasi ponies, who were wearing blue suits, came down for a landing as the crowd erupted in cheers. This pegasi group was known as the Wonderbolts. They performed aerial shows all over Equestria.

Their captain, Spitfire, lifted up her goggles and said, “Alright, great performance, Wonderbolts. You really nailed that flipping loop, Crash.”

A rainbow maned pegasus lifted up her goggles and she replied, “Heh, thank, Spitfire.”

Some of the Wonderbolts left and some went to the meet and greet. Though two wonderbolts stayed behind. One being a stallion and the other being a mare.

“Nice job, Dash.” A light blue pegasus complimented.

“Thanks, Soarin.” Rainbow Dash thanked. She looked back at some of the mares in the group and she could still see some burn marks on their bodies, she sighed, “I still feel bad for the girls for getting struck by lightning during practice.”

“Don’t worry, it wasn’t that severe. They were in the hospital for only a day and a half, Dash.” Seeing that Rainbow was still hesitant, he added, “It wasn’t your fault that they got struck.”

“I guess not.”

“That’s it. Don’t blame yourself.” That was the last thing he said before flying off with the other ‘bolts. Dash excused herself to the little fillies room to change. Once she was done changing, she saw a bright blinding light. She moved away and the light disappeared, but when she went back to her previous position, the light came back.

She moved towards the light and saw something shiny dug up in the dirt behind the bleachers. She told herself not to be nosy and leave, but another part of her was curious. She looked back at the Wonderbolts, and they were still busy.

She told herself to go back, but curiosity took over her and she started digging. She stopped digging and saw a lightning bolt chained to a necklace, “Sweet! That’s a cool necklace.” She grabbed the necklace and she felt a jolt of electricity through her body, but it didn’t hurt. “Woah, that was weird.”

She used the necklace but she decided to put it in her bag and not tell the others about the weird electricity thing.

Life in the outskirts of Ponyville, on a rock farm, was rather boring. All you do all day is use a pickaxe to break rocks. Pinkamena Diane Pie, the second youngest in the family, had never really been into rocks, unlike her sisters. She had always enjoyed making others happy but her parents and siblings always told her that if she wanted to stay at the rock farm, she had to work.

The bell rang and all the kids came to their parents. Their father asked, “Who’s turn is it to deliver the rocks to Maretropolis this week?”

The rest of Pinkamena’s sisters pointed at her and she lit up, “Yay! It’s my turn!”

Her mother and father looked at each other with concern before asking, “Are you sure you’re up for the task, Pinkamena? Last time you delivered, you almost got lost...”

“Yes. I promise that I won’t get distracted or get lost this time! My sisters have taught me a lot of stuff about delivering after that incident.” She replied with hopeful eyes.

Her parents sighed, “Okay, the cart is just at the gate. You can grab it and leave for Maretropolis. Maud, go show your sister the map.”

Maud Pie, Pinkamena’s older sister, nodded emotionlessly and gestured Pinkamena to follow her. They kept walking until they reached the gate. They got Pinkemena hooked up to the cart and Maud pulled out a map from the cart, showing it to her sister, “So you want to go through Ponyville, past the Canterlot Mountains, walk a few more miles, and then you’ll see Maretropolis.” Maud deadpanned.

“Okay. Thanks for showing me, Maud.” Pinkamena hugged Maud and she waved goodbye to her, “Bye, Maud!”

Maud waved back expressionlessly and said, “Bye, Pinkamena.” And once she was out of sight, she went back to farming rocks.

Pinkamena made her journey. She walked through Ponyville. She walked across the Canterlot Mountains. And after a few more miles of walking, her sister was right. The city of Maretropolis was in sight.

She was so excited that she started running towards the city without looking where she was going. And out of nowhere, she bumped into something, or rather someone. She rubbed her head and saw a mustard yellow earth pony wearing a poncho and a hat that had matching colors.

“Oh, I’m so sorry! I wasn’t looking where I was going.” She apologized.

The stallion got up and offered his hoof which Pinkamena reluctantly took with him saying, “It’s alright miss. I also wasn’t looking where I was going.” He looked over to the city behind him and asked, “Are you heading for Maretropolis?”

Pinkamena felt herself staring but she shook out of her trance and said, “Oh, yes. Mister..?”

He tipped his hat, “Sandwich. Cheese Sandwich.” He let out his hoof and they shook hooves, “And you are?”

“Pie. Pinkamena Diane Pie. Mr. Sandwich.” She shook with enthusiasm.

“No formalities, Pinkie. Just Cheese.” Cheese Sandwich smiled.

“Oh! Alright, Cheese- Wait!” She suddenly screamed, startling him, “Did you just call me... Pinkie?”

His eyes widened, “Oh, I’m sorry. I just thought that you ‘Pinkamena’ was very wearisome, as in it’s very long.” He explained as he took off his hat, showing his curly brown mane, “So, I shortened ‘Pinkamena’ to ‘Pink’ and then I added ‘ie’. Nicknaming you ‘Pinkie’. That is if you’re okay with me calling you that, Pinkamena-“

She placed a hoof on his mouth, telling him to stop, “Shh! Don’t call me Pinkamena. You can call me Pinkie Pie.” Pinkie said as she put her hoof down.

Cheese smiled brightly, “Well then, it was nice meeting you, Pinkie- Woah!” He started walking but tripped on a... rock?

Pinkie gasped, “Oh, no. My rock cart. Dad’s gonna be so mad! These rocks were from space.”

“Oh, I’m sorry, Pinkie. Here, let me help you clean up.” He offered as he lifted the cart back up and started throwing the rocks in.

“It’s really not necessary, Cheese. It was my fault. You can go on, I can clean up myself.” She insisted.

“Ah, it’s no big deal, Pinkie.” He said back.

Pinkie shrugged, “If you say so.”

They started throwing the rocks back into the carts. Once they finished, Cheese said, “I can help you get to the museum. I passed it from when I was leaving the city.”

“Oh, Cheese. You’ve done more than enough to help.” She stated, “I can take it from here.”

“It’s the least I could do for meeting you.” Cheese voiced as Pinkie started lightly blushing, “Plus I know where the museum is. So you’ll get done faster.”

Pinkie sighed gratefully, “Phew. That’s a relief. I don’t actually know where it is.” She giggled.

Cheese felt himself heating up a little when he heard her cute little giggle. He shook out of his daydream and started leading Pinkie into the city. Laughing and enjoying each other’s company in the process.

“Angel, stop moving. It’ll only be more painful if you keep on struggling.” A yellow pegasus was dabbing medicine on her bunny’s wounds which were minor, thankfully.

Out of nowhere, a head appeared in front of the mare, startling her, “Hey there, Fluttershy! What’re you doing?”

She looked at his expression to see if he saw it. When his expression showed no signs of knowing it, she did her breathings and calmed down, “Sorry, Discord. You scared me.”

“Oh, I’m sorry. I keep forgetting that you get agitated real easily.” Discord sighed.

Fluttershy placed an affectionate hoof on his shoulder and said, “Don’t worry Discord. It’s very normal for me to get flabbergasted. It’s becoming a routine when one of my friends bursts through my door.” She explained.

“In your case, you surprise me by, well... Surprising me! And it’s what makes you a very special draconequus.” She then hugged him which kind of startled him, but he returned the hug nonetheless.

“So, are we ready for the tea party?” He asked once they parted from the hug.

“Mhm. But my animals went a bit, mm... Wild.” She laughed nervously.

“But you’re always so good with them.” Discord raised a skeptical brow.

“Yes, but they’re still animals and they still have their own mind.” She explained and he understood, “So, umm... Can you help me clean up and we can start?”

“Of course, my dear.” He smiled and Fluttershy smiled back. They both started cleaning up the place and once they were done, they had their tea party.
