//------------------------------// // 1: The day to know everyone. // Story: RWBY vs The Equestian Grimm // by PenHeart3 //------------------------------// In the next 12 hours, everyone slept well. Well, except for one member of Team Dark Horse. Flutters was standing outside the door leading into Dark Horse’s dorm. The living costume can’t sleep, even if he tried. He can rest, but not dream. He never had the ability to dream, for all he saw in the darkness was the shadows of his past. Flutters had a filthy yellow coat, held together by black tread, and a pink yarn-like mane only facing to the right of him, covering that side of his face. His eyes and mouth were pitch black, like a void of shadows. He also had a sleeveless coat on, made of black leather, which was starting to peel off the coat itself. The thing also has incredible strength, but has no voice to make up for it. He also wasn’t very smart, only knowing what friends and enemies are, like most animals in the wild. For that is all he is, an animal. Flutters’ head was facing the wooden ground, until he heard the floors creek down the hallway. Somebody was coming for them, and Flutters didn’t want them to hurt his teammates. His friends. Flutters stood up to face the source of the sound, only to find a girl down the hall. The girl had long brown hair, bunny ears, and wore black, red, and white plaid pajamas, and was sleepwalking. Flutters memories wasn’t good, but he remembered the girl’s name. Velvet. He stood in front of the girl, which stopped her in place. The impact cause her to slowly wake for her slumber, causing a little yawn from the bunny girl. Velvet was confused for a moment. She was in the dorm hallway, in her pajamas, and in front of an Equestrian monster. She rubbed her eyes and apologized before opening her eyes wide with fear. They were brown, like her hair. Flutters was feared by many people in the past. All them feared him before they got to know him has a lovable marshmallow. But Velvet was afraid of him. She was afraid of being eaten alive by a thing she was training to fight. She had no idea what to do about him, if she could do anything. After a few minutes of silence, Velvet finally said to him, “H-h-hello. I-I’m Velvet.” Flutters let out a grim sigh. “friend?” he asked. Velvet felt a little scared about the fact of hurting the poor thing’s feelings, as she wasn’t sure if he was going to hurt her. Velvet simply responded with “Okay, sure” in order to prevent the thing from getting mad. Flutters pitch black mouth grew into a big smile as he approached the little rabbit girl. Velvet feared her life as Flutters began to approach her, bringing her into a bear hug. Flutters’ yellow fur felt soft and comfy to Velvet. So much so, that she feel asleep, thinking she was in bed. Flutters saw the little rabbit girl sleep on him, and his smile shrunk to a mere line. He picked Velvet up, and carried her to her team’s dorm room. Velvet woke up the next day, in her bed, feeling relieved that she wasn’t eaten. Maybe they aren’t so bad, Velvet thought to herself with a smile, as she looked out the window, seeing Flutters under a tree, reading a book. Velvet spent the whole morning decorating the dorm room with her fellow teammates. All and all, it was okay. Velvet sat on the wooden chair where the study table was, took out her notebook, and jot some things down about the day. She also noted various things about her teammates. Like how Fox was blind, yet uses something to help him see to an extent. Yatsuhashi was like a brother to her, even if he didn’t talk much. And Coco... Velvet stopped after writing her name and looked at the girl she was writing about. She was in her combat uniform, looking at a fashion magazine, and had some sunglasses covering her eyes. Why she wore them was beyond her. Coco eyed Velvet, lowered her shades and winked at her with a grin. Velvet's face turned red. Damn, why does she have to be so hot!?! Velvet hid her face in her book. Her head then shot up a minute later, as she then had an idea. “What if we introduced ourselves to the other teams?” Only Coco was in the room, unfortunately. Fox left after decorating, and Yatsusashi is outside meditating. Coco, lowered her shades to look at her more clearly. “Why?” “It’s common curtesy to introduce yourself. Plus there might be someone you might like. Come on, let’s make some friends!” Damn, why does she have to be so cute!?! Coco sighed before agreeing, earning a delightful yay from Velvet. Coco swears she saw stars in her eyes. This was gonna be a long day, Coco thought to herself. But, it can’t be that bad. With that, Coco got up from her neatly folded bed, and head out with Velvet to, hopefully, bond with her follow classmates. The first two teams they visited weren’t as much as Coco hoped for. The only one she bonded with was Weiss from Team RWBY. Velvet, however, bonded with half of the people they visited. Those four being Ruby and her sister Yang from team RWBY, and Jaune and Pyrrha from Team JNPR. The only ones they never got to bond with were Blake from Team RWBY, and Nora and Ren from Team JNPR. Then came one more team. The last of the four teams that were made in the first ceremony. Team Dark Horse [see previous Chapter. Pen]. As much as Coco didn’t want to go in there, Velvet insisted on doing it. And so, she knocked on the door, and waited. Once the door was opened, Velvet tried to introduce herself but was meet with the tip of a curved long-sword poking her nose. “Whoever you are,” the owner of the sword said, “we don’t want any trouble. So back up a bit, show you’re unarmed, and walk in slowly.” “Alright,” Coco said, “Maybe we should go Velvet.” “No!” Velvet yelled “We said we’d do every team.” She sighed. “Hi, I’m Velvet. This is Coco. We thought we’d get to know the other teams a little more, and sense you’re the only team left, I-” Velvet was cut off as the sword was removed and the door was slammed. Apparently they don’t want visitors. After yesterday’s mob, it was understandable that they would isolated themselves. Velvet wasn’t going to give up. She knocked on the door again, and waited, again. And the door opened, again. Coco was in shock with what was in front of the door. Velvet, however, decided to continue with her talk only to open her eyes to see a familiar filthy yellow coat. Flutters was standing between the two girls and the doorway. Coco had her mouth open at the sheer size of the costumed creature. Velvet kept her smile on, and raised her arms up for an embrace. “Hugs?” “Velvet!” Coco yelled. “Are you crazy!?!” Without a second to delay, Flutters trapped the two girls in a big bear hug. While Velvet appreciated it, Coco was in an awfully amount of discomfort and tried to get away from the monster’s crushing hug. However, Flutters carried the two inside despite one of them objecting completely to the idea. Flutters finally lets go of the two girls from his hug to reveal their dorm room. It wasn’t as bad as Coco thought it would be. Everything was clean and almost just the same as their dorm. Fully functioning kitchen, a TV room with a couch, and a chess board. The only exception being the bedroom. 2 of the 4 beds were present, one side of the room was painted purple, while the other side was orange. The purple side had a chained weapon and techno gun of some sort, a cello, various vinyl disks from the 60’s to the 80’s, and a bed, which big enough for two people to sleep in. The orange side had the walk-in closet, a dresser with a mirror, various vials of a combustible liquid, and a bed. Coco looked around the kitchen, opening cabinets and the fridge to see if any human remains while Velvet blushed in embarrassment. Flutters walked over to a chest next to the couch, opened it and took out the same book Velvet saw him read this morning. The book had a brown cover with no title, which as odd to Velvet. Flutters sat on the couch and offered Velvet to sit with him. She did, and was shocked to find child-like drawings. Some of Flutters, others of a family. From the looks of it, the family consisted of a mom, 2 girls and a baby. “Those were the Wetsworth family.” Velvet was shocked to see Babs Seed was in front of her. Her dark orange skin, green eyes, and pink hair now in full view. “They were a family that Flutters was around before he wounded up here.” She pointed at the figures in the drawing while explaining more about them. “The Mother’s name was Carylon, the eldest of the family was Elizabeth. She goes by Eliza to friends. The youngest daughter is Molly, and the baby’s name is Gage.” Coco, convinced there wasn’t anything they could eat (aside from normal food), sat next to Velvet, looking at the pictures. “What happened to them?” She asked. Flutters small, black smile slowly turned into a frown. Tears were forming from his large pitch black eyes. “There was an earthquake. The house they were living in collapsed. Flutters tried to save as many as he could. But, ultimately, he couldn’t. Carylon and Gage died and Eliza went missing. Molly was the only one who survived,” tears were forming from Babs eyes and slide down her checks. She was struggling to finish her story. “But she could never walk again.” Flutter screamed and threw the book from his hands (upper hooves), earning a heavy thud and several cracks to form on the wall, ran out the door, which was left open, and slammed it shut. His cry was heard from everyone's dorms in the hallway. Black liquid began to leave a trail of tears where Flutters ran outside twistedly screaming. Velvet and Coco was shocked to say the least. That thing really had someone who loved and cared for him, and that was taken away from him. It showed a more human side to the creature. Babs fell to her knees, and covered her face with her hands. She was crying. Like how a little girl would feel with guilt chained all over her. To Velvet's surprise, Coco went up to comfort the fellow team leader, putting her in an embrace, as she let her cry on her shoulders. Coco hushed Babs, saying everything would be okay. Velvet felt relived that Coco finally treated the Equestrians like a friend. Knowing well ahead, that this will be the start of a new era, where Humans and Equestrians would work together. At the end of the day, after several games of chess, Babs said goodbye to her two guests, cleaned up the dorm a bit, and laid down on her bed in the orange side of the bedroom. Babs then took out a photo from under her pillow, and stared at it. It was a picture of her and her family, in front of a red farmhouse, and surrounded by apple trees. She stared at the photo for what felt like hours, before her other two teammates walked into the bedroom from their date. Passionately making out, they fell on their bed (on the purple side) and moaned in each others mouths. Babs decided to leave the two love birds alone, and went outside, down the hall to cool off. That moment, Velvet informed her fellow teammates of her and Coco's trip, and recommended something that could help the teams know each other a little more.
