The moment of truth arrived and both Turquoise and Sunset were ready to go. Both trainers stood on opposite sides of the battlefield for the final battle of the Indigo League. As soon as the ref took his position both Turquoise and Sunset called out their starting Pokemon.
“ Go Tyranitar,” Sunset said as she threw her Pokeball which unleashed a big green creature with an intimidating look on its face. Turquoise pulled out her Pokedex for more info.
“ Tyranitar. The Armor Pokemon. Its body can't be harmed by any sort of attack, so it is very eager to make challenges against enemies,” The Pokedex said. After seeing Tyranitar’s typing Turquoise knew exactly who to use.
“ Go Lucario,” Turquoise said as she called out her Lucario. As soon as Lucario came out a sandstorm formed on the battlefield courtesy of Tyrantitar’s sand stream ability. “ Let’s start with Bullet Punch. Lucario lunged at Tyranitar with fists covered in orange energy.
“ Tyranitar use Iron Defense. Tyranitar’s entire body turned to metal as he withstood Lucario’s attack.
“ Lucario use Aura Sphere. Lucario fired an Aura Sphere at Tyranitar which did not faze Sunset at all.
“ Tyranitar use Protect. Tyrantitar created a barrier that blocked the Aura Sphere. “ You’re going to need more than brute force to beat me.
“ We shall see about that. Lucario use Force Palm. Lucario leaped at Tyranitar ready to repel it with Force Palm until Sunset smiled.
“ I was hoping you would get closer so we could do this. Tyrantitar use Body Press. Tyrantitar slammed down on Lucario as he was preparing to unleash Force Palm. Both moves triggered an explosion and as soon as the dust cleared both Pokemon were still standing. A few seconds later Lucario fell onto one knee while Tyranitar completely fainted.
“ Tyranitar is unable to battle Lucario is the winner,” The Ref said while pointing his right flag at Turquoise.
“ Return Tyranitar,” Sunset said as she recalled Tyranitar.
“ You return as well Lucario,” Turquoise said as she recalled Lucario for some rest.
“ Why is Turquoise taking Lucario out of the battle?” Rainbow asked.
“ That final exchange of powerful attacks took a toll on Lucario so she is letting him rest up for a later battle,” Twilight explained as Sunset was getting ready to call out her next Pokemon.
“ Go Magmortar,” Sunset said as she threw her Pokeball which unleashed a big bulky red and orange creature. Turquoise pulled out her Pokedex for this one.
“ Magmortar. The Blast Pokemon and the evolved form of Magmar. Living in the crater of a volcano has caused this Pokémon’s body to resemble its environment— it has an organ similar to a magma chamber,” The Pokedex said. After remembering her battle against Blaine Turquoise knew exactly who to use.
“ Go Flygon,” Turquoise said as Flygon came out and looked untouchable in the sandstorm.
“ Magmortar use Sunny Day. Magmortar fired an orange ball into the sky which caused the sandstorm to vanish and the sun’s rays to intensify. “ Now use Dynamic Punch. Magmortar’s right hand glowed while lunging at Flygon which caused a good amount of damage.
“ Flygon use Earthquake. Flygon shook the battlefield along with Magmortar.
“ Magmortar use Fireblast. Magmortar pointed his arm forward with his claws retracted before shooting a fire blast out of it and inflicted a good amount of damage on Flygon.
“ Flygon use Dragon Rush. Flygon charged at Magmortar with a dragon Rush which caused Sunset to look determined.
“ We won’t lose to you this time. Magmortar use Flare Blitz. Magmortar lunged at Flygon while covered in blue fire. As soon as both moves collided they kept pushing against each other until Magmortar broke through and managed to beat Flygon.
“ Flygon is unable to battle Magmortar is the winner,” The Ref said while pointing his left flag at Sunset while Magmortar sustained some recoil damage.
“ Flygon return,” Turquoise said as she recalled Flygon. Turquoise began thinking of who to use next. After thinking she made her choice. “ Go Altaria. Altaria came out and flew over the battlefield.
“ Interesting choice,” Sunset said.
“ Altaria use Moonblast. Altaria unleashed her Moonblast which dealt enough damage to Magmortar to cause it to faint.
“ Magmortar is unable to battle Altaria is the winner,” The Ref said while pointing his right flag at Turquoise.
“ Return Magmortar,” Sunset said as she recalled Magmortar. Sunset began thinking about what would work best against Altaria and made her choice. “ Go Cryogonal. A giant floating snowflake appeared which prompted Turquoise to use her Pokedex again.
“ Cryogonal. The Crystallizing Pokemon. With its icy chains, Cryogonal freezes those it encounters. It then takes its victims away to somewhere unknown,” The Pokedex said.
“ Let’s end this in one shot. Cryogonal use Sheer Cold. Cryogonal unleashed a bunch of cold air from its body which began to cover the battlefield in a thin sheet of ice. Turquoise knew this particular move was a one-hit KO and was desperate to avoid it.
“ Altaria fly up higher and try to stay out of range. Altaria descended higher as the cold air began to dissipate from missing its target.
“ That was clever. You knew if Sheer cold landed Altaria would have fainted instantly but that was not our only attack. Cryogonal use Ice Beam. Cryogonal spun in place while shooting a beam made of ice at Altaria.
“ Dodge and use Sky Attack. Altaria dodged the Ice beam and charged up energy in her body before nose-diving whole cloaked in that energy creating a silhouette of a mighty bird. Cryogonal was hit by it and took huge damage but not enough to faint.
“ Cryogonal use Ice beam. Cryogonal unleashed Ice beam before Altaria could get away and caused her to faint.
“ Altaria is unable to battle Cryogonal is the winner,” The Ref said while pointing his left flag at Sunset.
Altaria return,” Turquoise said before recalling Altaria. Turquoise knew this next battle could go either way since both sides are not at full strength. “ Go Lucario. Lucario came back out but still looked tired from his battle with Tyranitar.
“ Is Turquoise mad Lucario looks like he can’t fight in his state,” Rarity said.
“ Lucario may not be at full power. But Turquoise is putting her faith in him to do his best to beat Cryogonal,” Twilight said.
“ Lucario use Force Palm. Lucario leaped at Cryogonal with his palm out.
“ Cryogonal use Recover. As Cryogonal was recovering Lucario nailed it but managed to survive the attack.
“ Our turn to attack. Cryogonal use Self-Destruct. Cryogonal built up energy which caused its body to glow white before a huge explosion covered the battlefield. As soon as the light faded both Lucario and Cryogonal fainted.
“ Both pokemon are unable to battle this match is a draw,” The Ref said while crossing his flags.
“ Lucario return,” Turquoise said before recalling Lucario.
“ Return Cryogonal,” Sunset said before recalling Cryogonal. Both Turquoise and Sunset took a moment to figure which pokemon each of them would pick next. Sunset decided to make the first call. “ Go Talonflame. A big red and grey bird with red spots in certain places flew over the battlefield which prompted Turquoise to use her Pokedex again.
“ Talonflame. The Scorching Pokemon. Talonflame dives toward prey at speeds of up to 310 mph and assaults them with powerful kicks, giving the prey no chance to escape,” The Pokedex said. Turquoise calmly pulled out her next Pokeball and threw it.
“ Go Goodra,” Turquoise said as Goodra came out.
“ Talonflame use Tailwind. Talonflame whipped up a small jet stream which sped it up. “ Now use Steelwing. Talonflame managed to nail Goodra with wings made of steel.
“ Goodra use Rain Dance. Goodra managed to fire a blue ball of energy into the air which then formed a cloud that blocked out the sun and created a downpour.
“ You may have weakened my Fire-Type Moves but I still have an ace up my sleeve. Talonflame use Hurricane. Talonflame unleashed a huge tornado that swept up Goodra and inflicted a huge amount of damage. Despite the damage, Goodra was still standing.
“ Goodra use Muddy Water and surf on it. Goodra unleashed a tidal wave of muddy water before jumping on top of it. “ Now use Thunder Punch and leap at Talonflame. After reaching the proper height Goodra jumped at Talonflame and unleashed Thunder punch on it which not only sent it crashing onto the ground but also faint.
“ Talonflame is unable to battle Goodra is the winner,” The Ref said while pointing his right flag at Turquoise.
“ Return Talonflame,” Sunset said as she recalled Talonflame. Sunset thought hard about what to use in this battle and pulled out her fifth Pokeball. “ Go Gengar. Sunset’s Gengar came out and looked ready to go. “ Gengar use Hypnosis. Gengar looked at Goodra while sending out hypnotic waves that put Goodra to sleep Which made Turquoise sweat a little.
“ Goodra return,” Turquoise said as she tried to recall Goodra only for Sunset to react faster.
“ Gengar use Mean Look. Gengar made a mean-looking face that covered Goodra in a black aura that repelled the energy beam of Goodra’s Pokeball.
“ What gives,” Turquoise said.
“ Mean look is a move that stops the opponent from switching out their Pokemon. So Goodra is not going anywhere,” Sunset pointed out. Turquoise called desperately for Goodra to wake up but no such luck. “ Time to wrap this up. Gengar use Dream Eater. Gengar began sucking what looked like light blue energy out of Goodra which caused Goodra to look like it was in pain before fainting.
“ Goodra is unable to battle Gengar is the winner,” The Ref said while pointing his left flag at Sunset.
“ Goodra return,” Turquoise said before recalling Goodra successfully this time. Turquoise knew who to send in for this one. “ Go, my friend. Turquoise threw her Pokeball which unleashed Venusaur.
“ You never learn, do you? Gengar use Hypnosis. Gengar unleashed his Hypnosis on Venusaur who was completely unaffected by it. Sunset remembered that Turquoise had a Zoroark and deduced that the Venusaur in front of her was Zoroark. “ Gengar use Perish Song. Gengar began singing a melody that Turquoise was beginning to dread. “ Before you even think of switching out Gengar use Mean Look. Gengar used Mean Look to trap Zoroark on the field.
“ So what? We still have the advantage so if we can’t run away we will just have to beat you. Venusaur use Night Daze. Venusaur unleashed her Night daze Attack which Sunset was anticipating.
“ Dodge it,” Gengar dodged Night Daze. The battle went on with Venusaur unleashing her attacks and Gengar dodging them. This went on until eventually the Perish Song kicked in and caused both pokemon to faint with Venusaur now transforming back into Zoroark.
“ Both pokemon are unable to battle this match is a draw,” The Ref said while crossing his flags.
“ Return Gengar,” Sunset said while recalling Gengar.
“ Zoroark return,” Turquoise said while recalling Zoroark. Both trainers were now down to their last Pokemon which they did not hesitate to call out. “ Go Venusaur.
“ Go Inteleon,” Sunset said as Inteleon landed on the battlefield after Venusaur. “ Inteleon use Acrobatics. Inteleon flipped through the air while diving at Venusaur.
“ Venusaur use Petal Blizzard. Venusaur whipped up a Petal Blizzard that not only sent Inteleon flying the other way but also damaged him. Turquoise decided now was the time to unleash her ultimate weapon. She grabbed her pendant and rubbed her mega stone which caused Venusaur to mega evolve.
“ Going all out I see,” Sunset said.
“ This is the final battle after all so why wouldn’t I go all out,” Turquoise said.
“ Regardless we won’t lose to you. Inteleon use Snipe Shot. Inteleon pointed his finger forward and fired a water bullet.
“ Venusaur use Sludge bomb. Venusaur fired his Sludge Bomb which caused both moves to explode upon impact. The battle went back and forth until both Venusaur and Inteleon were close to the brink of defeat.
“ Inteleon use Hydro Cannon. Inteleon fired a mighty powerful stream of water at Venusaur.
“ Venusaur use Frenzy Plant. Venusaur summoned big roots that not only blocked Hydro cannon but also crept towards Inteleon and slam him for a massive amount of damage which was enough to cause him to faint.
“ Inteleon is unable to battle Venusaur is the winner which means Turquoise wins the match,” The Ref said while pointing his right flag at Turquoise as her picture appeared on the jumbotron with the winner icon and a crown on it.
Sometime later all the trainers who competed in the Indigo league gathered to collect their awards and to watch Turquoise stand proudly in front of them while holding a gold trophy with wings and the official pokemon league seal on it.
“ And now after such a great battle, we declare the Indigo League closed,” The Announcer said as the officials put out the torch symbolizing the end of the Indigo League.
Later that night Everyone was at Turquoise’s House celebrating Turquoise winning the Indigo League with a huge feast Turquoise’s mom made with a little help from Applejack and Fluttershy.
“ So what’s next Turquoise? Are you going to challenge the Champion League since you won the Indigo League?” Sunset asked.
“ Not yet I still have a lot more to learn before challenging the Elite Four to an official battle,” Turquoise said.
“ Besides we still have the Grand Festival to train for,” Rarity said.
“ There is that too,” Turquoise said.
“ No need to rush since you're from Kanto and won the Indigo League you're free to challenge the Elite Four anytime you wish,” Sunset said, remembering what Lucian of Sinnoh’s Elite Four told her. The girls all ate their fill and after cleaning up went to bed for the night. Turquoise after placing her trophy on her awards shelf went to bed excited to find out what the Grand Festival will be like.
