Holidays were created to make us to remember the sentiments and the history behind the essence of the day. The events of what happened, and what the people felt after so much challenges and sacrifices were made for us to enjoy our free time and even try to replicate the same sentiments at the same day every year.
Usually when mares and stallions think this day would be a day only focused on romance between two ponies, any ordinary pony and creature would think the same when it comes about Hearts and Hooves Day.
For me, this day is something different... Something more personal and even more important than just romance...
"Adagio, Aria, Sonata... It's time to visit your grandparents." I called while I finally took the preparations for our trip, while I counted down... 3...2..1...
"YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY." I heard a cheer which could be so loud if wasn't by the fact I made my tower soundproof outside of the tower, making all the poneis don't have a curiosity of the sounds inside my tower. But even I knew I have to redouble the spell on this day...
What can I say? They love my parents...
Then a sudden yellow blur quickly jumped at me, and I have to admit... I'm too old for reflex, because that was so quickly not even my fastest spell would protect me from a 10 pounds of pure yellow cuteness little siren, with a huge grin, like when her sister eats too much candy.
"YAY, IT'S HEARTS AND HOOVES DAY; YAY, IT'S TIME TO SEE GRANDMA." My elder filly Adagio was so attached to my mother, it seems she really spoiled her... Actually my mother spoiled all my fillies...
The next second another blur tackled me, making me get down at the floor... Maybe I should start creating barriers on the next events... Because being tackled twice? I don't know if I should feel proud of them or ashamed of myself.
Then the next second the final blur was the last thing I saw after another child of mine tackled me in my face this time... Everything went black for the next 10 minutes.

From the deep inside of my mind, something called my attention... A memory I kinda forgot a long time ago...

"The monsters have approached the near the area, it seems they are preparing to ambush us." A female concern voice made me look over my side. After taking a deep look to the voice, I could see... A big allicorn with scarlet mane and deep azure eyes, while near by her side, was a slender mare, with two edge swords and a shield behind her. Her White Mane and pink fur made me stunned, but proud from the look of such sight in front of me. "What should we do?"
"Let them come. Lady Faust, I'm sure I could kill these beasts with 10 spells or even less. They are too stupid to guess we are preparing a counter attack on this right instant." A confident voice came from a view where I was... I was being carried by an armored stallion, which confidence could make a mountain shake from one spell of his. I could see he was so experienced on the battle, it seems like a normal day to him.
His red fur, couldn't bring more fear to his enemies, because they never know if he could be injuried or not, and his white mane, could make all the mares gasp from such sight in battle...
"I don't know if that's a good idea, commander Hearts, you are taking care of your foal at this moment, general Hooves is trying to find a great position to make a good trap to them, and your interference would make the challenges a bit difficult." The allicorn dismissed the idea of the stallion who was carring me, but he just merely scoffed.
"Please Faust, Stars Swirl can handle himself... Actually he can actually take even care of you. He has my genes and his mothers intelligence. I know for sure, these monsters can try to ambush us... But they will never break us apart... She would kill me if I die by them." The stallion laughed while the alicorn giggled on her place.
"I supposed that's true... But there is a question in my mind... Why by sard has in your mind to actually propose to her in the middle of a fight against a basilisk?" The alicorn asked intrigued, while the red stallion laughed even harder.
"Oh sard. Please Faust, if you didn't know me, you actually would ask me... Why by sard has in your both minds when you actually had a marriage in the middle of a fight against a hydra?" The stallion laughed harder, while for the first time I heard the alicorn laugh so much.
"I supposed it's true... But I cannot ignore the idea, of you both has this romantic and crazy ideas in the middle of battle... I remember even you asked..."
"Faust... Don't you dare... Starty isn't ready for this talk yet." The stallion narrowed his eyes, while he did his best to make me not hear what she was going to say...
While I couldn't help hear the voice, I could read her mouth forming the words... Doing taxes...
Taxes? In my mind as that age I couldn't help trying to understand why she said that...

"Oh Faust, now I understand what he said..." My mouth whispered after I open my eyes, and found my children looking sheepishly at me... I really wanted to ground them, but that would be really unfair... So I decided to sigh and imagine the best to use at this moment. "I will not ground you, if you behave and be more careful next time..."
They sighed in relief, and extremally happy, they nodded quickly.
I decided to get up, and looking at them, I hugged as my father did to me...
"Let's go to your grandparent's graves." I said while, they smiling took their bags, and with my magic, I used a concentrated magic to teleport in the next location... The royal graveyard of the heroes of Equestria...
