It was Saturday morning at Sunset’s apartment. The sun showed its way through the windows, waking Sunset up every morning at the break of dawn. She considered getting some blinds to put near that one window that always woke her up in the past. But she always kept forgetting.
About an hour later, Sunset was up making breakfast while Starlight was still sound asleep. She soon awoke to the smell of the food Sunset was cooking hearing the sizzling of butter on a frying pan.
“Morning Starlight. Sleep well?”
“Yeah, it feels nice to wake up without having an alarm clock for once.”
“I see. Well, breakfast is nearly done.”
“That’s great but do you have any coffee? I can’t wake up without it.”
“Yeah. Help yourself.”
Starlight was relieved Sunset had some coffee. She couldn’t get fully awake each morning without a cup or two to start her day.
As Sunset placed their plates of pancakes on the table Starlight sat down with two cups of coffee for the both of them. Starlight proceeds to take a sip of her coffee savoring its delectable delights. While it wasn't like what she was used to, she still enjoys just about any kind of coffee that is available.
“Oh, that tastes so good to start me in the morning,” Starlight replied.
“Good to know. You are an adult mare in Equestria so I figured you wouldn't be happy if I didn't have any coffee. Since in this world, were technically teenagers.”
“Yeah, that’s the one thing I wondered about during my last visit. Princess Twilight has tried to wonder why at times but she never found the answer why.”
“Yeah, I’ve gotten used to it and a few months ago I was able to get human DNA thanks to Princess Celestia.”
This caused Starlight to nearly choke on the pancake, immediately taking a sip of her coffee to wash it down before burning her tongue in the process.
“Wait, you have Human DNA now. How?!?!”
“I’ll explain later. But the short version is now that I'm currently a seventeen-year-old teenager thanks to the potions she made me. I will be able to age like a normal human being, even though I wasn't born here.”
“Oh boy, that sure is quite the mouthful of information to swallow for just one morning.”
“Yeah. Many of my friends felt the same.”
After the girls finished their breakfast Starlight asked Sunset what their plans are for today.
“So Sunset. What did you have planned for today?”
“I’d thought you’d never ask Starlight. First I thought I’d show you around town and maybe grab a bite to eat. Do a bit of shopping at the mall to get some more clothes for yourself, and perhaps visit the Equestria Land theme park. How does that sound?”
“Sounds perfect!”
“Yep, so we better get going. Many of the places we’ll be visiting are opening soon. And just a reminder, there’s gonna be a lot of walking today ok?”
“That won’t be a problem Sunset. I’ve gotten used to walking on two feet, so I’ll be fine.”
Sunset giggled a little before the two girls left to start their day together.
Starlight was enjoying their morning walk. She saw many things she's never seen before. From tall skyscrapers to parks. Many cars and motorcycles going by. She even got a little scared by them at first. But Sunset told her she was perfectly fine as long as she paid attention when crossing the street.
After two hours of walking, they stopped at an ice cream shop. It was really hot that day and they both could use something refreshing on a hot day like today.
After they got their ice cream they went over to a nearby park. When they got there, they spotted a group of children playing hide and go-seek, while some parents were talking away on some benches.
“So Starlight, how have you been enjoying the day so far?” Sunset asked as she licked her raspberry ice cream cone.
“It's been pretty good. I mean, sure what I did last time was great and all, but not having to deal with equestrian magic makes it even better.”
“Yeah, I still am wondering where all this magic is coming from. Hopefully, my friends and I will be able to find out its source. Eventually.”
“Well you maybe have had trouble, but you'll be able to fix this soon enough. Especially since you’ve decided to stay here and continue your second life here Sunset.”
“Yeah, but what if I might never figure it out?”
“Sunset, take this from someone who used to be a student of Princess Twilight. Take it one day at a time, and the answer you seek will appear beyond you sooner than you’ll think.”
This caused Sunset to smile.
“Thank you Starlight. Seems like we do have more in common than we thought.”
“I mean, if it wasn’t for Princess Twilight, we both wouldn’t have come this far and accomplished so much.”
“Yep. I’m hoping to pay her back someday. Friendship has brought so much great things for me to experience. Kinda makes me wish I never went down that path to become an alicorn.”
“Yeah, I still have nightmares every so often now that Twilight wasn't able to stop my plans for revenge against her. I’m just glad to be here with you, making me feel nothing but positive thoughts.”
Sunset soon started to laugh at Starlight after she finished speaking.
“What?”
“I’m sorry, but seeing you with ice cream covered all over your face is bringing back the time when it happened the first time.”
Starlight soon laughed a bit before Sunset helped clean her face off of the melted ice cream.
“Well, that was delicious. Haven’t had a good ice cream like that in a while.”
“And it cooled us down too. Now then, let’s head over to the mall now shall we.”
When arriving at the mall it was incredibly busy. Many people were walking with bags in their hands, food from the food court, students chatting with one another, and people working hard to make the customers happy.
As the two girls were about to enter their first store a voice caught Starlight’s attention.
“Starlight is that you?”
And low and behold it was Juniper Montage.
“Juniper Montage?” Said Sunset and Starlight.
“Oh it's so great to see you again Starlight, how are you?”
“I’m doing great, how about you?”
“Been doing pretty well since we’ve last spoken.”
“Such as what Juniper?” Asked Sunset.
“I’m in a relationship now. And my Uncle Zoom might allow me to volunteer with him again for the films he has planned for the future. He still hasn’t one hundred percent gotten my trust back, but it's one step forward than I was last year since what I did to the recent Daring Do movie,” Juniper replied, looking away for a moment. Remembering the fact she sabotaged the film and caused confusion and delay.
“Well, what matters is you are doing well and improving. I know it's hard to often let go of the past,t but you’ll get through it. I know you will my friend,” Starlight said before hugging Juniper.
This caused Juniper to blush in happiness. She was glad to have a great and caring friend, knowing what pain she'd gone through.
“Thank you Starlight. That made me feel better.”
“Just doing my best.”
They soon parted ways as Juniper had to start her next shift at work while Sunset and Starlight entered their first store to start their shopping.
Starlight was amazed by the fashion this world had to offer and instantly fell in love with it. She tried on many different clothes that caught her desire. Sunset said she looked great in many of them. She then decided on an outfit and some other clothes to get for the coming days of her stay and was soon prepared for the remainder of her stay.
After their shopping was done, the two girls exited the mall with Starlight in a new look. Her new outfit consisted of a dark black shirt with light blue lining on it. A skirt almost similar to Sunsets with her cutie mark on it. And a smaller pair of boots as well.
Starlight liked this outfit more than her previous outfit and it was so far her favorite part of the day.
At last, after their long walk, they arrived at Equestria Land.
The place was packed with many people all around and they were ready to have some fun.
They first started with a few carnival games winning many prizes and even running into Flim and Flam again. Sunset fortunately didn't spend a lot of time playing their game to win a prize this time as it took a huge toll on both her money and Twilights.
Starlight later met Vignette Valencia who she became friends with quickly, despite the fact of learning about what she did to Sunset and their friends. Nevertheless, Starlight enjoyed her visit to the theme park.
As the weekend went by Starlight had an amazing time with Sunset. She was glad to be spending some time with Starlight. Starlight felt happy to be spending her spring break with one of her closest friends. Their friendship had grown even more since they spent more and more time together compared to the first time during the Mirror incident.
It was now Starlight’s last day as both she and Sunset arrived back at CHS so Starlight could head back home to Equestria.
Starlight was sad she had to leave but promised Sunset she’ll come back again when she has time off.
“This sure was an amazing weekend of fun with you Sunset. I enjoyed it. While I wish I can stay longer, I already made plans for the remainder of spring break with Sunburst.”
“It's fine Starlight, I’m glad you did get to spend some more time here with her. It's not every day I get to hang out with someone I have so much in common with. I enjoyed spending my time with you and getting to know you more. You almost feel like a sister to me.”
“Maybe in the future you and your twilight can come and visit if you’d like?”
“I’ll have to talk to her about it. It'll take some begging, but I'm sure she'll want to see Equestria at some point.”
After a minute of silence, Starlight was ready to get going.
“Thank you for everything Sunset. Especially with finding this new outfit for me.”
“Your welcome Starlight. You still want the other outfit? I can hold onto it if you’d like for future visits?”
“No, no Sunset it's fine. I like this outfit a lot so you can have that one. And the beanie too.”
“Thank Starlight. I’ll think about you whenever I wear it.”
“And I’ll think about you whenever I mention it to my friends and Sunburst.”
“Well, then Starlight you better get going. Tell Princess Twilight I said hi."
“Goodbye Sunset, see you next time.”
And with that Starlight entered the portal and soon was gone in a flash.
The next morning, Sunset awoke in bed all by herself instead of seeing Starlight next to her. The one she had seen sleeping beside her the last two days.
She was glad she got to visit again and was already planning on asking Twilight if she’d like to join her for a future visit to Equestria.
It was gonna take a lot of begging for Sunset but Twilight was gonna go with her whenever it happens.
As Sunset got ready to leave her apartment to meet her friends at Sugarcube Corner she decided to wear Starlight's outfit today. Not only to surprise them but also tell them Starlight gave it to her as a gift.
She liked the outfit, even if it wasn’t her color or style. It was a reminder of one of her friends from Equestria she had a lot in common with.
As Sunset grabbed her bag and adjusted the beanie she looked around her apartment thinking of the fun she had with Starlight Glimmer that past weekend. Although it was now over, Sunset appreciated spending her time with Starlight and couldn’t wait for her next visit.
She left her apartment to go and see her friends for another day of fun and see her girlfriend Twilight Sparkle. Or commonly known as Sci Twi.
