Everything had gone to failure
(Young Flash stands in front of Canterlot Middle Schools statue and watches in despair as young Twilight, Fluttershy, Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash leave him going separate ways from himself and each other.)
My ambition turned into my broken dreams
(Flash is sent flying outside a building and into the grace outside as lighting arcs through the sky followed by thunder. Soon, it begins to storm on him.)

(Flash kneels beside his younger brother, Forward Base, who is currently crying. He stands before facing Ethan with a determined expression.)

(Young Flash is standing on the roof as a young Sunset is waiting for him.)

(The scene transitions to the park at night as Flash stands across from Sunset in shock while she laughs at him. His fists clench and he activate his black duel disc causing a blue energy blade to appear.)

(Young Flash is panting with tears in his eyes as he stands in the middle of his father's home office with books having been scattered. Anything that could be wrecked was.)

(Young Flash sits on his knees before a coffee table. Laid out before him is a blank deck of cards, his laptop, and a flash drive. He inserts the flash drive into the computer and plays a video.)

(Young Flash watches as his father appears on screen. After a moment, his expression changes from sorrow and anger to a proud smile.)

(Flash stands outside the sanctuary and stares down the stairs as he imagines a transparent version of his brother running up to meet him before he vanishes. Rather than be sad, Flash gives a small smile before walking back inside.)

(Teen Flash gets off his duel runner and looks back at the transparent version of his younger self who smiles and gives him a thumbs up before vanishing. Flash smiles and puts his hands in his pockets before walking onto the grounds of the large complex.)

(Flash looks up at the building as he draws closer to the entrance with a look of resolve. He stops as transparent version of the Humane 6 as their current ages appear before him. Flash nods to them before they vanish. He then walks into the building.)
Mess Hall: Kitchen
Zack stood off to the side while the resident chef, Saffron, stood across from an emotionless Snails. Even with Zack there, Saffron was a bit intimidated by this, but it’s not like she could give up. She just wished it wasn’t up to her to duel this guy.
“Alright Saffron, you just need to keep a level head.” Zack stated. “Think through your plays to avoid any basic mistakes your opponent can take advantage of. What’s more, take a deep breath because you seem tense.”
Saffron took a deep breath to calm her nerves.
“If you are ready, you shall go first.” Snails declared plainly.
(Saffron 4000/Snails 4000)
“I activate Mix Spice Garamasala allowing me to add three spice cards from my deck to my hand. Then, I activate the spices I just added which is three copies of Spell Spice Caraway. Each deals you 200 life points while I gain 200. With three, that’s 600 total.”
(Saffron 4600/Snails 3400)
A small bolt of black lighting raced towards Snails causing him to grunt in pain, but he kept it unnoticeable.
“That was a decent start Saffron.” Zack complimented. “Keep playing like that.”
“She’ll need to play better to stand a chance.” Snails declared.
“I’m not done yet.” Saffron declared. “I activate Graceful Charity to draw three cards, but I must discard two. Then, I’ll set one monster and one card before ending my turn.”
“My turn.” Snails drew. “I summon Kidmodo Dragon(LV 3/100/200).” A small, goofy looking pink dragon appeared. “By banishing him, I can special summon Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon(LV 10/2800/2400).” A metal Red-Eyes appeared.
“Once per turn, this card allows me to special summon a dragon from my grave or hand. I choose Armed Dragon Thunder LV 7/2800/1000).” A menacing dragon with black metal armor and lighting around his fist appeared.
“Zack, I don’t know about this.” Saffron stated. “He’s bringing out a lot of power.”
“Saffron, don’t lose your cool.” Zack stated calmly. “You must have faith in your cards and your ability to use them.”
In other words, he was alluding to her set monster and trap hoping she set something useful.
“I then activate Level Copy.” Snails continued. “This card lets me special summon any LV monster with the same name as a monster I control from my deck. I’ll choose a second Armed Dragon Thunder LV 7/2800/1000). Now, Darkness Metal will attack your face down.”
A breath attack comprised of molten metal shot at the face down card only to hit Marshmallon(LV 3/300/500). A pink blob which effortlessly held up against the attack.
“You just attacked my set Marshmallon who can’t be destroyed by battle.” Saffron declared. “If this card is attacked and flipped face up, you lose 1000 life points (Saffron 4600/Snails 2400).”
“That’s the way Saffron.” Zack cheered.
“Gaah!” Snails screamed in pain as the black lighting hit him.
“What was that?” Zack asked.
“Hey, are you alright?” Saffron asked in concern.
“I’m fine.” Snails declared. “Since attacking would be a waste of time, I’ll activate Leveled Burn. This spell totals the level of all monsters I control and deals you damage equal to 100 x that total. 24 levels equals 2400 damage (Saffron 2200/Snails 2400).”
The bolt of black lighting traveled down the tether and into Saffron causing her to cry out in agony as she fell to her knees.
“Hey, what is this?” Zack questioned. “What are you doing to her?”
“I thought it would be obvious by this point.” Snails stated. “This is a type of Shadow Game where the damage is real. To keep the pain simple, every loss to life points causes what just happened to her and what’s been happening to me.”
“A Shadow Game?” Zack questioned internally.
He’d read up on the rumors and myths surrounding the more powerful duelists of the past, but the Predaplant user thought they were nothing more than that. Now, he was confronted by the reality, and he wouldn’t deny it. He couldn’t afford to.
“Hey, let me take Saffron’s place already.” Zack stated. “She isn’t the kind of duelist you are looking for. Flash’s team is me, Blaze, Twilight, and Astral. None of those are Saffron, so give this a rest already.”
“My opponent is free to surrender at any time, but surrender means you have no skills in the eyes of Lady Nightmare. At that point, even if you are physically strong, you won’t survive the loss as you might if you’d played the duel out.” Snails explained.
“I’ll just join in anyways.” Zack got ready to activate his duel disk. “Even if the damage is real, I’ll take the penalty to…”
“No.” Saffron stood panting. “Just give me a minute, and I’ll be fine. Don’t put yourself through this pain on my behalf.”
“Saffron…” Zack sighed. “…I’ll stay out of this for now.”
“Since you seem ready to continue, I’ll set one card.” Snails declared. “Your move.”
“Alright.” Saffron drew. “I activate Just Deserts. This set card deals you 500 life points of damage for every monster you control. Since you control three, that’s 1500 life points of damage.”
“I’ll activate my set card called Level Balance.” Snails declared. “By sending one Level monster I control to the grave, any one instance of damage I take is also dealt to my opponent. I’ll send one of my two Armed Dragons as the cost.”
(Saffron 700/Snails 900)
Both duelists cried out in agony with Snails being sent to his knees while Saffron collapsed to the ground feeling the effects of the duel.
“I wasn’t expecting that.” Saffron tried to move. “I can’t get up.” She tried moving her arms. “I can’t even reach my duel disk.”
“What a shame that is.” Snails managed to rise back to his feet. “Since you can’t continue your turn, it becomes mine…”
(Zack 4000-2000 Penalty)
Zack cried out in pain as his life points were cut in half for entering the duel. “Sorry, but I believe it’s my turn instead.”
“Zack you shouldn’t have done that.” Saffron stated.
“Why not?” Zack drew. “With the damage, this shouldn’t be a problem. In that sense, the damage I just took is worth it. Either way, I’m in now, so there’s really no use arguing.”
“He is right.” Snails stated plainly. “He is part of this now, so take your turn.”
“No need to tell me that.” Zack drew. “I’m starting with Predaplast. By revealing any number of Predap cards in my hand, I can apply that number of Predator counters to monster you control That same monster will then become level one if its current level is two or higher.
I’ll reveal Predaplant Chlamydosundew(LV 2/600/200) to put a counter on your Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon(LV 1/2800/2400 effect). I’ll then summon the monster I revealed.” The plant lizard appeared.
“Next, I activate Chlamydosundew’s effect. This monster can act as a polymerization and use any monster on the field with a Predator Counter as material. If your Red-Eyes weren’t already dark, he’d make is so. Now, I combine our two monsters to create a dragon of true toxicity.
Fusion summon Starving Venom Fusion Dragon(LV 8/2800/2000).” A large and vicious purple dragon appeared roaring. “When he’s fusion summoned, I can target a special summoned monster you control and have Starving gain ATK equal to that monster’s ATK.
I’ll target your Armed Dragon Thunder LV 7.” Starving Venom Fusion Dragon(LV 8/5600/2000 effect). “This effect only lasts for the turn. Starving Venom attack Armed Dragon with Toxic Breath!”
“I activated the effect of Leveled Burn from the grave.” Snails declared. “By banishing it and a monster from my grave, I can negate one attack and destroy your monster. Then, you take damage equal to half your monster’s original ATK.”
The breath attack of poison hit a barrier which protected Snails. Zack was hit with a black ball of electricity knocking him off his feet as he screamed in pain (Zack 600). He landed right next to Saffron.
“You really shouldn’t have entered this duel.” Saffron stated.
“In the end, he would have dueled me anyways.” Zack began to slowly rise back to his feet. “I figure we have a better chance stopping him if we work together.” He was back on his feet. “Plus, if I let you fall, I’d have failed someone else, and I can’t let that happen.”
“Someone else?” Saffron questioned internally. “What does he mean by that?”
“Alright, you got me with that one, but I’m still standing” Zack stated. “I’ll set one card before ending my turn.”
“I draw.” Snails drew. “I activate the effect of Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon to special summon Armed Dragon Thunder LV 7/2800/1000) from the grave. Then, I will send it and an Armed Dragon Thunder LV 3 from my hand to the grave.
This allows me to special summon a monster from my deck. Powerhouse of the Levels heed my call and descend. I special summon Armed Dragon Thunder LV 10(LV 10/3000/2000).” The colossal, bipedal dragon appeared.
“LV 7 and LV 3 both have effects that can be activated. First, LV 7 grants me an Armed Dragon card from my deck to my hand. Next, LV 3 allows me to draw another card. I will then attack Starving Venom with Red-Eyes.”
Starving exploded and Zack grunted from the pain (Zack 400).
“Wrong move because you just activated my dragon’s special ability.” Zack declared. “When he’s destroyed, Starving takes all my opponent’s monsters with him.”
A wormhole opened and tendrils shot out going clean through both dragons.
“Very well.” Snails stated. “I shall activate Return of the Dragon Lords and use its effect to revive Armed Dragon Thunder LV 7/2800/1000). That will end my turn. Now, it’s Saffron’s if she can even move.”
“Come on Saffron.” Zack stated. “Stand up and finish this.”
Saffron tried to rise but found it difficult since her body didn’t want to respond.
“You just need to sit up and play.” Zack stated. “I may have jumped in, but you should be the one to finish this. You may not be a duelist like us, but you’re Harmonious Element all the same. Show this guy the strength we have.”
“Enough.” Snails declared. “If she will not begin her turn, it goes back to…”
“No.” Saffron was panting as she’d managed to sit up. “Zack is right. I may not be a duelist in the world league, but that’s not even my dream to begin with; however, I’m still part of Harmonious Element.” She drew.
“You are after one my teammates while harming another right before me. I refuse to let that go, so I will stop you here and now.” She looked at Zack. “To do that, I need a monster with at least 6 levels.”
“That’s simple enough.” Zack stated. “I activate Call of the Haunted allowing me to revive. Starving Venom Fusion Dragon(LV 8/2800/2000). Now, show this guy what we can do.”
“Alright.” Saffron nodded. “I activate Hamburger Recipe. By using monsters whose total levels equal 6 or more, I can Ritual Summon Hungry Burger.”
“A ritual monster without an effect.” Snails commented. “How is that going to help especially since Starving Venom has 800 ATK more than the monster you intend to summon?”
“That’s because I’m only summoning a monster whose treated as Hungry Hamburger.” Saffron declared. “Hamburger whose hunger can’t be satiated; I summon you. Ritual Summon Ravenous Burger(LV 6/2000/1850).” A monstrous burger appeared.
“I then activate his effect.” Saffron stated. “By banishing one card from my deck, you take 500 life points of damage. Go, Ravenous Bite!” Ravenous Burger lunged at Snails before the ball of electricity hit him causing more pain that had the boy panting (Snails 400).
“Unless that effect can be used more than once a turn, I’m still standing.” Snails declared.
“You’re right that my monster can only use this effect once per turn, but this spell of mine can circumnavigate that. I activate Reuse.” Saffron declared. “This spell allows me to target one card that’s already used its effect and make its effect that effect. I target my Ravenous Burger.”
Snails shocked and screamed in agony before falling to the ground unconscious (Saffron 700 & Zack 400/Snails 0). Saffron fell back to the ground as Snails dissipated in black particles.
“That’s it.” Saffron collapsed om her back. “That’s all I have in me.”
“It was more than enough.” Zack slightly smiled. “You did well.”
He walked over and picked her up bridal style causing Saffron to blush. “Hey, what are you doing?”
“I thought it was obvious.” Zack started walking. “I’m taking you to the infirmary. No matter how clean your kitchen may be, a bed is what you need.”
“No, I mean why are you carrying me this way?” Saffron asked.
“Would you prefer if carried you over my shoulder like a sack of potatoes?” Zack asked. “I Could do that, but I thought this would be more comfortable.” He shrugged. “I mean, if you want to go over my shoulder, then…”
“No.” Saffron quickly stated.
She quite liked being carried by Zack. His hold was gentle, and she did feel quite comfortable. Up until this point, Saffron assumed the Predaplant user was like Blaze, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. While he may seem cold, Zack was rather warm.
The chef leaned into him and closed her eyes. “This feels nice.”
She passed out. After being supported and helped by the guy during the duel, she trusted him to see her to safety. Being taught how to be a proper gentleman, Zack would uphold that trust.
Training Room
(Twilight & Astral 8000/Garble 8000)
“Here’s how this will work losers.” Garble declared. “You will share a pool of 8000 life points while I have the same. You will also share your field and graveyard while switching whose turn it is. Whomever goes first will be allowed to draw. Sound good?”
Twilight and Astral looked at one another before nodding.
“Sounds good to us.” Astral pointed at him. “Since you’re the challenger, you go first.”
“No problem.” Garble drew. “I start by summoning Pahunder(LV 4/1300/600).” A man with lighting for hair and blue armor appeared. “He allows me to normal summon a level 4 Light Thunder monster from my hand.
I choose Mahunder(LV 4/1400/500).” A woman with long, red and yellow hair appeared wearing red armor. “Her ability is the same as Pahunder’s, so I will summon Brohunder(LV 4/900/400).” A boy with yellow lighting hair and a blue and yellow attire appeared.
“When he’s summoned, I can add a level 4 Light Thunder monster from my deck to my hand except for another one of him. I’ll then activate Double Summon to perform another normal summon and bring out Sishunder(LV 4/900/400),”
A girl with long, lighting yellow hair in pigtails appeared wearing red clothing. “Since I control four ‘hunder’ monsters, I can special summon Neighunder(LV 4/500/2100) from my deck.” An eyeball attached to a body appeared.
“Did he just summon 5 monsters in one turn?” Astral questioned shocked.
“He did.” Twilight gulped. “This is bad.”
“You haven’t seen anything yet.” Garble declared. “I set one card before activating Card of Sanctity. This card allows each of us to draw until we have 6 cards in our hands. Since you losers haven’t played a card, and I’ve played my hand, you can see where this is going.”
“Yeah, we got it.” Astral stated. “That’s six cards for you and only one for each of us.”
“Perfect.” Garble smirked maliciously. “I activate the spell card I set called Thunder Crash. This spell allows me to destroy all monsters I control and deal you 300 life points for each monster destroyed through this effect.”
“Well, that’s one way to make use of your monsters.” Twilight stated.
(Twilight & Astral 6500/Garble 8000)
The electricity surged through the tether causing Twilight and Astral to cry out in pain. Astral was brought to his knees while Twilight fell to her stomach.
“What was that?” Astral questioned still reeling. “The damage was real.”
“This is a Shadow Game initiated the moment the shadow tether ensnared you.” Garble laughed. “Lady Nightmare bestowed this power upon her agents to effectively test and duel others. If you are physically strong or deemed skilled enough, you won’t go to the Shadow Realm.”
“Shadow Games… are real.” Twilight was shocked.
The magician user had thought there was no way dark or light magic could exist, but now she was confronted by it. She’d be a fool to deny the pain with her life now on the line.
“Flash…” Twilight clenched her fist. “I completely understand now. Something like this is what you were put through by Sunset. No wonder you left to train.”
“Now, I activate Grave Xyz. This card allows me to use monsters in my grave for an Xyz summon. When the Xyz monster I summon is destroyed, or a material is detached, all materials go to the banished zone instead of the grave.
I will overlay all five of my level 4 ‘hunder’ monsters to Xyz summon Number 27: Dreadnought Dreadnoid(R 4/O 5/2200/1600).” A huge battleship appeared. “I end my turn, so it’s your turn losers.”
“Number monsters.” Astral managed to stand back up. “Aren’t those impossible to destroy in battle unless you control a Number monster yourself?”
“You are right about that, but we can’t give up in the face of this challenge.” Twilight slowly rose back to her feet. “This Lady Nightmare… She wants Flash, but I won’t let anyone take him.” She was back on her feet with a look of determination. “I won’t let him down.”
“I wasn’t insinuating we quit one bit because that’s not my style.” Astral smiled. “Set us up for victory my rival!”
“My turn!” Twilight drew. “I activate the effect of two Apprentice Illusion Magicians(LV 6/2000/1700). By discarding a card for each of them, I can special summon each one to the field. Two tanned magicians with blond hair and purple robes appeared.
“When this monster is summoned, I can add a Dark Magician from my deck to my hand. Since I summoned two, I add two to my hand. Next, I overlay my level monsters. Xyz summon Magi Magi ☆ Magician Gal(R 6/O 2/2400/2000).” A female spellcaster in navy blue attire appeared.
“Is that the best you got?” Garble smirked. “That monster is pathetic especially in the face of my Number. Even if it has an effect to destroy him, my monster’s own effect prevents his destruction from card effects by detaching overlay units.”
“Then, it’s a good thing my Magi’s effect isn’t one which destroys your monster.” Twilight declared. “By detaching one overlay unit, and banishing one card from my hand, I can take control of your monster until the end of the turn. Go, Control Magic!”
Magi Magi ☆ Magician Gal(R 6/O 1/2400/2000)
“Say what!?” Garble shouted in shock.
“You heard me.” Twilight stated. “Until the end of my turn, Dreadnought is mine.” Magi spun her staff before firing a ball of black energy at the ship causing it to move to Twilight’s side. “Both monsters will attack you directly (Twilight & Astral 6500/Garble 3400).”
The electricity surged into Garble causing him to cry out in agony. The agent of Nightmare managed to fall to one knee since he had more experience in games like this.
“That’s not the end of my turn since I can still normal summon.” Twilight declared. “I will tribute Dreadnought and Magi. Magician of dark arts I summon you. Come Dark Magician(LV 7/2500/2000).” The purple robbed magician appeared. “I then set one card.”
“Amazing!” Astral cheered. “You not only removed his Number, but you also dealt massive damage. Talk about setting the board for victory.”
Garble stood and put his hand on his deck. “Victory? I think you mean defeat.” He drew. “I activate the effect of my Thunder Dragon. By discarding this card, I can add up to two Thunder Dragons to my hand from my deck.
Next, I will activate Polymerization to fuse the two Thunder Dragon’s in my hand. Colossal dragon of the thunder descends to defeat all who stand in the way of Lady Nightmare. Fusion Summon Thunder Dragon Colossus(LV 8/2600/2400).”
A long, dark purple thunder dragon with wings appeared roaring. “I’ll then equip him with Wattcube granting my Thunder monster 100 ATK for every Thunder monster in my grave. Due to my earlier plays, all I have is three Thunder Dragons.”
Thunder Dragon Colossus(LV 8/2900/2400 effect).
“So, you’ll deal four hundred points of damage.” Astral smiled. “I think we can handle that.”
“Maybe you could, but Wattcube has another effect.” Garble smirked. “By sending it to the grave, I can grant my dragon a permanent 1000 ATK boost. I then activate Lightning & Thunder.
First, I must target a card in my grave, and I choose Thunder Dragon. Then, I can activate effects based on how many cards share that name specifically and banishing monsters with that name. Meaning, I need three specifically named Thunder Dragons to make full use of this card.
Fortunately, I have three exactly named Thunder Dragons which loads this spell’s three effects. Effect one, one spell/trap card my opponent controls is destroyed.” Twilight’s face down was gone. “Effect two, one monster my opponent controls is destroyed.”
Dark Magician was struck by lightning. “Effect Three, my opponent takes 1000 life points of damage (Twilight & Astral 5500/Garble 3400).” The two duelists were struck sending them to their knees. “My Colossus will attack you two directly with Colossal Lighting!”
Colossus roared as he spread his wings out summoning a small, black cloud which struck lighting down (Twilight & Astral 1900/Garble 3400). This was followed by electricity surging through the tether causing both duelists to scream in agony as they fell to their stomachs.
“Lucky for you, this is where my turn ends.” Garble laughed. “You losers should stay down and accept defeat for my Lady Nightmare.”
“Accept defeat…” Astral grit his teeth and slowly rosed to his hands and knees clenching his fist. “Never. I haven’t even had my turn, and any duelist worth their salt would never give up until the very end.”
“We can’t give up.” Twilight was trying to rise like him. “I’ve given up too much in the past. On my friends, on dueling, and even on Flash. I won’t give up again.”
“You two losers are pathetic.” Garble declared. “Lady Nightmare has kept watch over Flash for a long time now, so we’ve seen what you two are capable of. You losers are worse than those I normally call losers.
You don’t know you’re place and insist on pressing forward even though your skills lack. Astral, you use a deck comprised of cards from duelist 10 times better than you. Duelists who rivaled the best of their generation, yet you keep insisting you can climb to the top.
Then, you call some magician user, one who lacks the skill of the best magician user, your rival. That same, pathetic magician user was outclassed by her friends in the past and is now outclassed by Flash Sentry who used to be a joke. You should just…”
“Shut up!” Astral shouted as he rose to his feet. “The way you talk makes me certain you understand nothing about dueling!” He stood there panting. “You know, no one used to expect much from me. In my old village, two others outshined me in talent.
They were once some of my best friends before their exceedingly bright talents saw them drift away from each other, me, and their home. Just this short time in the world league makes me realize how lacking my skills are. It’s enough to make me doubt myself.
‘I’m not good enough to be here. I’m not worthy enough to stand among duelists like Blaze, Flash, or Shining Armor’. Maybe those thoughts are right. Maybe I never will become more of a duelist than I am. Still, I will never stop trying. I will always shoot for the stars!”
Twilight looked at Astral shocked. “Astral…”
“Bone of that matters right now. What matters now is that you’ve insulted my rival, are after one of my friends, and have been harming one of my friends through this duel. That is why, I will defeat you. You won’t get another turn. Count on it!”
“Man, you are a wind bag.” Garble laughed. “Take your pathetic turn. Show what little power you truly have.” He smirked. “Colossus has an even more powerful effect than my number in terms of protection and his ATK is high. This guy stands no chance.”
“My move” Astral drew and grit his teeth. “I have a powerful combo that would win us this duel, but with The Cipher out there, I could never use him.” He looked at his deck. “Is this really the combo you want me to use?”
To Astral his deck briefly glowed red. “Alright, I understand.” He looked to Twilight who was now standing once more. “Twilight, I have the perfect combo to end things this turn. Can I use your Dark Magician?”
“Of course.” Twilight nodded. “Our graves are shared, so it’s your Dark Magician as much as it is mine.”
“Thank you.” Astral turned to Garble and closed his eyes. “Just don’t think any differently of me after this play. I promise you I’m not him. I could never abide by what he does to duelist.”
“Astral, what are you talking about?” Twilight asked confused.
“Just watch.” Astral opened his eyes and had a look of pure determination. “Prepare yourself shadow duelist because this is the end!”
“Really now?” Garble asked. “How will you achieve such a feat?”
“Just watch.” Astral stated. “First, I activate Monster Reborn to revive Twilight’s Dark Magician(LV 7/2500/2100). I then activate the effect of Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon(LV 8/3000/2500).
By revealing Blue-Eyes White Dragon in my hand, I can special summon Alternative to the field.” A white dragon appeared. “I’ll then activate Level Resonance. This spell allows me to target one monster I control and make its level the same as another monster I control.
I’ll target Dark Magician(LV 8/2500/2100) making him level 8 as well. Now, I construct the overlay network with these two monsters. When two duelists work together, something greater can be achieved. I overlay Dark Magician with Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon.
Galaxy which shines in the darkness reveal yourself and usher in the new era. Xyz Summon Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon(R 8/O 2/3000/2500).” A large, light blue dragon with crimson red and dark blue scales descended.
Garble stepped back in shock. “He has one of The Cipher’s dragons.” He quickly regained his composure. “What am I worried about? That dragon isn’t strong enough to overcome my fusion, and its ability isn’t enough to end me. I’ll live.”
“He has a cipher dragon…” Twilight stared up at the monster before looking at Astral. “Just what kind of a deck did you put together Astral?”
“I’m going to wipe that smirk off your face!” Astral declared. “I activate Rank-Up Magic Astral Force. With this spell, I can target an Xyz monster I control and rebuild the overlay network to summon a monster 1 to 2 ranks higher. I target Cipher Dragon!
Shining galaxy that illuminates all darkness descends and illuminates the path to victory. Rank Up: Xyz Change Neo Galaxy Eyes Cipher Dragon(R 9/O 3/4500/3000).” A colossal, light blue dragon with crimson red armor appeared.
“What a monster.” Twilight stated amazed.
“That monster.” Garble stared up at it in shock before looking at Astral worried. “So, what if you summoned him? It means nothing because my monster is…”
“Your monster may be strong enough to withstand an attack, but that’s where Neo’s effect comes into play. I can detach up to three materials to take control of that many monsters, but you only have ones.”
Neo Galaxy Eyes Cipher Dragon(R 9/O 2/4500/3000). “Go, Cipher Super Projection! This ability negates your monster’s effects and allows me to control them. What’s more, he now becomes Neo-Galaxy Eyes Cipher Dragon(R 8/O 0/4500/3000).
Of course, the monster I take can’t attack directly, but my original can still attack you directly. Neo-Galaxy Eyes, attack Garble with Cipher Stream of Horror.” Neo-Galaxy breathed his stream attack at Garble (Twilight & Astral 1900/Garble 0).
Garble was then struck by the electricity which launched him off his feet as he screamed in agony. The screams soon subsided as he fell into unconsciousness and hit the ground. Unlike with the pawns, he was sucked into a black portal.
“That’s what you get for underestimating us.” Astral looked at Twilight remorsefully. “I’m…”
“No.” Twilight shook her head. “Don’t apologize because you have nothing to apologize for. Astral, I trust you aren’t The Cipher.” She smiled. “After all, you two go about inspiring people in different ways, and yours is superior in my opinion.”
“Thank you, Twilight.” Astral breathed a sigh of relief. “I promise to explain my Galaxy cards once we’re out of this.”
Training Arena
Celestia and Luna were currently facing off with Fusion and Xyz. Their opponents wished to see them safe while the sisters wanted to get out there and help their duelist. In the end, this would be settled with a duel.
(Xyz & Fusion 8000/Luna & Celestia 8000)
“I would say we hope you are ready, but Fusion and I know you aren’t.” Xyz stated.
“What is that supposed to mean?” Luna asked.
“You will see as the duel progresses.” Fusion stated. “Speaking of the duel, each team shall have 8000 life points. Graveyards and fields will be shared meaning whomever goes first can’t attack, but after that its fair game. In addition, that first person shall get to draw, fair?”
“I think we can agree on the condition that your team must go first.” Celestia stated.
“We have no problem with that.” Fusion stated. “Xyz you are up.”
“I’ll gladly take the first turn.” Xyz drew. “I summon Raidraptor - Napalm Dragonius(LV 4/1000/1000).” A dragon like metal bird appeared. “When he’s summoned, I can inflict 600 life points to my opponent (Luna & Celestia 7400).
I’ll then equip him with Raptor's Ultimate Mace granting Raidraptor - Napalm Dragonius(LV 4/2000/1000 equip) one thousand more ATK. There are other effects, but I’ll explain those as they come. I’ll then finish with one set card.”
“He’s using Raidraptors.” Celestia stated. “I’m unfamiliar with the archetype, and his first turn gave us little indication other than they seem to work with burn.”
“We can’t sit here debating what the deck does sister. In that vein, I believe I will go next.” Luna drew. “I summon Stellarknight Vega(LV 4/1200/1600).” A warrior in white robes appeared. “When Vega is summoned, once per turn, I can special summon a Tellarknight.
I choose Stellarknight Alsahm(LV 4/1400/1800).” A warrior in white armor with a bow appeared. “You’re not the only one who can burn. When Vega’s summoned, my opponent takes 1000 life points of damage (Xyz & Fusion 7000).
Now, I overlay my two level 4 monsters to construct the overlay network. Tellarknight from the dark rise into the light an infect all with darkness. Xyz summon Darktellarknight Batlamyus(R 4/O 2/2600/550).” A robotic woman fused with a robotic horse appeared.
There are no other attributes on the field, but all monsters officially become Dark attribute. Now, in exchange for one overlay unit, discarding one card, and being unable to Xyz summon for the rest of the turn, I can reconstruct the overlay network with Batlamyus.
Warrior who rebounds all will appear. Xyz summon Stellarknight Triverr(R 4/O 2/2100/2500).” A warrior in white armor and wielding a shield made of light appeared. “When this monster is Xyz summoned, all other cards on the field are returned to the hand.”
Fusion growled. “They’re better with these decks than we thought.”
“They are.” Xyz admitted. “Ultimately, they don’t stand a chance.”
“What is that supposed to mean?” Celestia asked.
“You do not need to know.” Xyz declared. “Continue your turn, Luna.”
“Very well.” Luna stated. “I detach one overlay unit from Stellarknight Triverr(R 4/O 1/2100/2500) to send a random card from Xyz’s hand to the grave.”
“The random card you sent was my trap Raidraptor-Return.” Xyz declared. “By banishing this card from my graveyard, I can add any Raidraptor card from my deck to my hand.”
Luna continued.” “Triverr will attack you directly with Stellar Slash!” Triverr rushed forward and slashed into Xyz (Xyz & Fusion 4900).
Xyz held out his hand. “When I take battle damage, I can special summon Raidraptor-Avenge Vulture(LV 4/1700/100).” A brown and black metal bird appeared.
“I shall set one card and end my turn.” Luna declared.
“My turn then.” Fusion drew. “Time to see if my cards have any effect on their memory.” She looked at her opponents. “I summon Fluffal Dog(LV 4/1700/1000).” A fluffy, white and brown dog appeared.
“Fluffal…” Luna thought. “What are these architypes, and why does that name sound familiar?”
“Fluffal…” Celestia thought. “I’m not familiar with…”
Memory
Celestia was dressed in a white shirt with red pants, and she stood across from a girl with gray skin, long, light blue hair, and purple eyes. She wore a cyan dress. Celestia had Judgement Dragon while Fluffal Dog had just been summoned by the girl.

“Alright mom, that dragon of yours may be tough, but I’m not out yet.” The girl held up a spell card. “I activate Polymerization.”
Present
Celestia had a hand on her head. “What was that? Mom… I’m not a mother, right?”
Luna looked at her sister concerned. “Celestia, are you alright?”
“I’ll be fine sister.” Celestia shook her head. “We should focus on the duel at hand.”
“For a brief flash, she remembered me, but it wasn’t anywhere near enough.” Fusion took a deep breath. “I activate Polymerization to combine Fluffal Dog with Edge Imp Sabres and Fluffal Wings. Vicious wolf of nightmare heed the call of your master.
Fusion summon Frightfur Wolf(LV 6/2000/1500).” A blue and white sewn together poorly wolf appeared. “This monster gains attacks for every Fluffal used to summon him. Since I used two, that’s two attacks.”
“Your monster is still 100 points weaker than Triverr.” Luna declared.
“Don’t worry about that because I have just the card to help us get over it.” Fusion stated. “Wolf attack Triverr with Frightful Crunch!” The wolf rushed at the Xyz monster. “I then activate Battle Fusion.
When a Fusion monster I control is attacked or attacks, this card grants my monster ATK equal to the ATK of the opposing monster until the end of the damage step.” Frightfur Wolf(LV 6/4100/1500 effect).
“I’ll chain my face down Half Unbreak.” Luna declared. “This card protects my monster from battle destruction for the rest of this turn and any damage I take is cut in half (Luna & Celestia 6400).”
“This is where I step in.” Xyz spoke up. “I’m activating a special card meant for tag duels. To activate it when it’s not on the field, I must destroy a Raidraptor monster I control. Fortunately, Avenge Vulture is right there.”
The metal bird was destroyed. “Now, I have met the recruitments to activate Rank-Up Magic Tag Force. With this, I can target a monster on our field that came from an extra deck, no matter the monster, and destroy it.
Then, in its place, I can special summon a monster with a rank equal to the level of the destroyed monster and rank up into a monster one or two ranks higher. With your permission Fusion, I’d like to use your wolf.”
“You don’t even need to ask.” Fusion stated firmly. “Go for it.”
“I’m getting a bad feeling about this.” Celestia stated.
Luna nodded. “I agree sister.”
“I destroy Frightfur Wolf to special summon a Rank 6 monster from my extra deck.” Xyz declared. “Bird of prey that strikes my opponent from above with the power of their own monsters descend.
Xyz summon Raidraptor - Revolution Falcon – Air Raid/R 6/O 0/2000/3000).” A huge, black metal bird appeared. “As you heard, I Xyz summoned this card which is what the special summon performed by the spell becomes.
When Air Raid is Xyz summoned, I can target a monster you control, destroy it, and deal you damage equal to the ATK it had on the field. Air Raid use Air bombardment on Triverr!” The bird flew over Triverr and bombarded it with ballistic mistles (Luna & Celestia 4300).”
“Smart move Xyz.” Fusion praised. “Now, show them your power.”
“I wasn’t planning on anything different.” Xyz stated. “Bird who strikes from above evolve into a bird of prey who hunts from space itself. Rank-Up Xyz Change: Raidraptor - Satellite Cannon Falcon(R 8/O 1/3000/2000).” A white, gold, and red falcon appeared.
“This does not bode well.” Luna stated.
“Take it away Fusion.” Xyz stated.
“Gladly.” Fusion pointed up. “Satellite ascend to the heavens and attack our opponents directly!” The bird launched into the air before diving into the sisters (Luna & Celestia 1300). “I’ll finish by activating Tag Force: Sacrificial Protection.
My partner and I must banish one extra deck monster each. By doing this, we can prevent a monster on our field from being removed from the field, until the end of my partner’s next turn, by anything less than battle.”
“We choose to protect Satellite Cannon Falcon from field removal.” Xyz finished.
They each picked a monster from their extra decks and pitched it to the grave.
“I’ll then set one card.” Fusion declared. “It’s your turn Celestia.”
“This is not looking good. I’m going to need to throw everything I have at them if we want any hope of winning.” Celestia drew. “Since you control a monster and we do not, I can special summon Constellar Siat(LV 1/100/1600).” A small fairy carrying a silver trophy appeared.
“I then summon Constellar Pollux(LV 4/1700/600).” A bulky warrior in white armor appeared. “When he’s normal summoned, I can normal summon once more. I choose Constellar Aldebaran(LV 3/1300/800).”
A bipedal, bulky ox in white armor appeared. “When he’s normal summoned, I can special summon a level 3 Constellar monster from my hand. I choose Constellar Sheratan(LV 3/700/1900).” A bipedal ram in white armor appeared.
“Four monsters in one turn.” Fusion stated. “Once again, they surprise me with how well they play the deck.”
“Hold strong Fusion.” Xyz stated. “This duel won’t end this turn.”
“We’ll see about that.” Celestia stated. “First, I activate Constellar Siat(LV 4/100/1600 effect) allowing me to target a Constellar monster I control or in my grave and make its level equal to the level of that monster. I will target Pollux. Now, I construct the overlay network twice.
First with Siat and Pollux.” Let your light shine down and weaken all who stand before you. Xyz summon Starliege Paladynamo(R 4/O 2/2000/1000).” A warrior in white armor with a large, light blade appeared. Second with Sheratan and Aldebaran.
He who can make his opponents kneel or face their opponents head on appears. Xyz summon Constellar Hyades(R 3/O 2/1900/1000).” A bipedal beast in white and gold armor appeared. “By detaching both of Paladynamo’s overlay units, I zero out the attack of a monster you control.
Not only that, but their effects are negated as well.” Starliege Paladynamo(R 4/O 0/2000/1000) “I target Raidraptor - Satellite Cannon Falcon(R 8/O 1/ATK 0/2000 effect). Paladynamo will attack with Shining Slash.”
“I activate my face down Album of Memories.” Fusion countered. “This continuous trap allows me to negate an attack, once per turn, by banishing a Fluffal monster from my grave. I banish dog to stop Paladynamo.”
Celestia grit her teeth. “Er, then Hyades will destroy your Satellite Falcon with Constellar Thrust!” Hyades took his weapon and thrust it into the falcon causing it to explode (Xyz & Fusion 2000). I end my turn with one face down.”

“My move!” Xyz drew. “I activate Rank-Up-Magic Soul Shave Force (Xyz & Fusion 1000). By paying half our life points, I can special summon a Raidraptor Xyz monster from our grave and use it to special summon an Xyz monster 2 ranks higher. I target Satellite Cannon!”
“He’s ranking up his monster again.” Celestia stated.
“Not only that, but he’ll be summoning a rank 10 monster.” Luna added.
Raidraptor - Satellite Cannon Falcon(R 8/O 0/ATK 3000/2000) reappeared on the field.
“Bird who hunts from space evolve into a brazen bird of prey that can wipe out any target. Rank-Up Xyz Change: Raidraptor – Ultimate Falcon(R 10/O 1/ATK 3500/2000).” A massive blue and gold falcon appeared.
“3500 ATK!” Luna exclaimed in shock.
“I got this sister!” Celestia held out her hand. “I activate Shadow Spell. This trap not only decreases your monster’s ATK by 700 but prevents it from attacking.” To her shock the card sparked before shattering. “What!?”
“It’s part of my Ultimate Falcon’s effect.” Xyz declared. “This card is uneffaced by other card effects. Just as I said, this is the end! Ultimate Falcon destroy Starliege with Ultimate Bombardment!”
The falcon rose into the air and directed itself at Starliege before firing down a laser which left nothing behind (Xyz & Fusion 1000/Luna & Celestia 0).
“With our victory, you two shall remain here until our leader finishes with what he has set out to do.” Xyz stated while creating a black portal behind them. “Once he is gone, you will be free.”
“You can’t do this.” Celestia tried. “Our duelists are…”
“Our leader only cares for keeping you safe.” Xyz interrupted before walking into the portal.
“Who even are you two?” Luna asked.
“One day, when your memories have returned, the leader and I shall reveal our identities.” Fusion approached the portal. “Until then, know we are not your enemy.”
She walked into the black portal which closed behind her leaving the sisters there.
