Back on her hooves

by Hoping for death

After Applebloom's song.

I guess as time goes by
Everypony has to go out on their own
Maybe someday I have to try
Something new that's just for me, a little something that could be
Just my own and I won't feel so left behind

After the filly finished her song, Applebloom sat down on the bridge and closed her eyes. When she did, she felt a single tear sliding down her face, she refused to wipe it away as it just sat there on her cheek. More tears began to join the first as she began to think to herself. "I'm a lone mare now. My friends are gone and I couldn't find an activity I liked, the Cutie Mark Crusaders are over and my life is over." She cried for a long time and she was ashamed of herself for doing so. "What am I gonna do?" Applebloom asked herself as she heard hoofsteps approaching the bridge. Which happen to have been hoofsteps of a certain mare who Applebloom knew all too well.

Applejack walked up to the yellow filly, who put her hooves on her face because she just didn't want her big sister to see her cry.

"Applebloom?" She said with a concerned tone in her voice, approaching the filly with the bow.

"A-Applejack!" Applebloom said, startled by her voice. The earth pony tried to keep her heart from pounding.

"Applebloom, what's wrong?" Applejack asked her.

"D-don't worry... about it." Applebloom sniffed.

Applejack only looked at her little sister. It was a look that Applebloom knew the meaning of. It said "Don't lie to me, I know something is bothering you."

"It's dumb." Applebloom mumbled, hoping to drop the conversation.

"Sugarcube, you know you can talk to me about anything." Applejack said.

"My life is ruined, let's just leave it at that." Applebloom sighed, she started to cry once more as Applejack took her hoof into hers.

It's okay. I'm here for you." She whispered.

"Please just leave me alone." Applebloom cried.

"I can't do that, sugarcube." Applejack said. "I know you need my help so you're going to receive it whether you want it or not."

"Why are you so concerned about me?" She asked.

"Because." She answered as she started stroking her sister's mane, "You're my little sister and I love you and I would like to know what's up."

"Well," she said, "I guess I can tell you. See a few weeks ago my friends and I finally got our Cutie Marks in helping other ponies find their Cutie Marks."

"Oh, that's awesome." Applejack said to her.

"But now we can't find anybody in need of a cutie mark," She explained, "So we all tried to find another activity we like but we couldn't agree on one we all like so... Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo decided to go off and do their own activities. But I, myself couldn't find one I liked and... now... I.... I miss my friends so much and I'm lost and alone with no purpose in life." She broke down on The bridge and she was very upset.

"Hey, Hey Applebloom, listen." Applejack said.

Applebloom looked up.

"It's okay. I know exactly what you're feeling. I know what it's like to lose friends. But I'm sure they didn't mean they didn't want to be your friends. Maybe they just meant that you don't have to do everything together."

"Really?" Applebloom asked.

"Really." Applejack responded. "Trust me on this one. I know how great you are and how you've grown. I want you to remember that, okay sis?"

"Aw, that's really nice of you to say." she said as she hugged Applejack.

"Just remember Applebloom," Applejack says, "I'm here for you."

"Thanks big sis." Applebloom says hugging her sister tighter.

On the walk home to Sweet Apple Acres, Applebloom seemed pretty sad, but Applejack wouldn't want to see that in Applebloom.

Once the sisters got into the barn, Applejack motions for Applebloom to sit down on the couch. Applejack tells Applebloom that things are bound to happen and friends do grow apart overtime.

Despite all that, Applebloom did not feel any better. So she walked upstairs grabbed a shower and prepared to head to bed. But she started looking at pictures of her and Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo and realized how much she missed her friends. Tears started falling down her face as she gets into bed.

Applejack walked up to her room and knocked on her door.

"Come in." Applebloom sniffed.

Applejack walked up to Applebloom and sat down next to her bed, she spread out her forelegs as a motion to hug Applebloom. Applebloom put herself in her sister's legs. As she continued to release her tears.

"Shhh, it's okay, Applebloom." Applejack said, rubbing her sister's back.

"It hurts so much, Sis." Applebloom cried.

"Listen, I'm always here if you need me. Okay? I want you to remember that."

"No one wants me here." Applebloom whimpered.

"Applebloom, that is far from the truth. I want you here, you have everyone in this barn who wants you here, that includes me, Big Mac and Granny, you can talk to anyone of us and my door is always open." Applejack said.

"Well, I guess I could talk." Applebloom sniffed, wiping away her tears.

Applebloom hugged her sister good night and climbed into bed.

Then she woke up 10 hours later and just dragged herself out of bed, walking downstairs and out the door of the barn, she didn't even want breakfast.

Applebloom was so upset, she couldn't even eat, she didn't want to talk to anyone either. All she did was walk into the clubhouse and let her mind be filled with thoughts.

"I'm finished, I'll be alone for the rest of my miserable life." She thought.

Suddenly, there was a knock, and Applejack came in.

"Applebloom, you haven't eaten breakfast this morning." She said, "Are you sure you're alright?"

"It's gonna take some time sis, but I hope to get back on my hooves." Applebloom sighed.

Applejack was happy to hear that from her little sister.

Well she can be optimistic can't she?
