“With that the winners have been decided! Advancing to the next round are Yoda of Universe 1 and Cody Hinda of Universe 4!” The grand minister declared before adding “Yoda finished with the highest life points so he decides the fates of the losers!”
“No need have I” Yoda declared as he turned away as Universe 1 cheered for their first victory of the tornament as Yoda walked back his old smile clear on his face. The victory had almost been entirely down to Yoda, who’s deck still left many still in the tournament a little surprised “An honour it was”
Cody however sadly turned to Universe 4, the god of destruction was where his gaze fell to, far from looking happy, Quitela looked mad but kept his mouth shut just casting Cody a dirty look that made the young boy look away sadly. The Grand Minister coughed as he then said “For dinner each team has been gifted the talents of a student cook from the Totsuki Saryo Culinary Institute! If any cooks wish to help them they’re more than welcome! We just ask you enjoy your evenings! Teams are allowed to interact so long as the meetings are civil!” he cast a dangerous glare at Universe 12 as the teams headed to their respective bases.
Whis turned to the team, none looked much like celebrating, two defeats in a row and one death was hard to express happiness over “Well…our chef should be in here somewhere? Hello?” suddenly a small girl with dark blue hair appeared from the kitchen area dressed in a white cooks uniform “You must be our cook for the evening?”
The girl bowed and said “Yes my name is Megumi Tadokoro from the Totsuki Saryo Culinary Institute” she smiled as she added “I have been working on dinner for you…” suddenly Beerus walked close and glared at her, Megumi gulped nervous by one of the gods of destruction looking so threateningly at her “Ummm is there a problem?”
“I warn you here and now! No ordinary slop will please my taste buds! So I suggest what you’re preparing is tasty” Beerus growled but Megumi smiled and bowed again before opening the door she’d come from a crack allowing the smell of her food to fill the entrance area. Beerus inhaled and his brain practically melted with the delicious smell “GIVE ME!”
Megumi shook her head and said “It’ll be another half hour before it’s properly ready to enjoy” she turned back to the kitchen before she turned back Beerus trying to follow her “You will wait in the dining room or in your rooms! No non chefs is allowed in the kitchen”
“OH! PLEASE!” Beerus screamed “That food needs eaten now!”
Whis drooling also screamed “I agree! FOOD NOW!” despite this he turned noticing the depressed expressions of the duelists, none even seemed to enjoy the smell of their dinners and he sighed “I know today has been a hard day….but we should still be proud of today’s duels. Sunset you managed to advance to the next round that's something worth celebrating in a small way”
Megumi smiled as she approached Sunset “I was watching your duel….I don’t quite understand the rules but it was good” Sunset smiled sadly trying her best to give Megumi a better showing that just utter depression “I could use your help in the kitchen”
“Why?” Sunset asked but Megumi shook her head and guided Sunset into the kitchen. Beerus looked on in shock as the two walked in and the door was locked behind them.
“THAT’S NOT FAIR!” Beerus screamed scraping at the door “I need food now!”
Elsewhere Akiza sat in her bedroom, her eyes hadn’t stopped leaking tears since Yuesi had lost and her hands trembled as she hugged herself but there came a knock on the door. She at first didn’t say anything but then a stronger knock came and she sniffed “Come in?” the door opened and there stood Sailor Mars in her full uniform, Rei eyes were as puffy as Akiza’s felt her own to be and she said “You were from the team who…”
“Yeah” Rei said as she walked in “Our team saw how you and that blonde man took the death of….uhh Yuesi was it?” Akiza nodded sadly “Well we would like to invite you two to share a meal with our team so we can all…well you know”
“Have you asked the Universe 7 team?” Akiza asked slowly and Rei nodded “And you’ve checked it’s okay with both our cooks?”
“I asked Erina and Takumi, they both said it was fine” Rei explained as she extended her hand to Akiza who took it gratefully. The two walked out heading for Jack’s room but almost before they knocked on the door Jack walked out looking angry “Uh sir?”
“Save it! I know why you’re here! I’m too busy preparing my deck and Akiza I’m surprised you’re not focusing on…” Jack began but Akiza’s expression darkened and Jack realised if he finished his sentence he’d regret it “Uh actually maybe I could come”
Meanwhile Camparri the angel of Universe 3 was praising the team “Well day 1 is over and we’re undefeated….I mean only one of us has duelled but I thinking focusing on the positive is important…” the Fairy Tail guild members smiled as they could smell their cook’s food through the door “Yes I know Miss Mito’s food smells very tasty but could you all…focus?”
Natsu however was the only one who wasn’t drooling over the food “Oh come on! Who cares about undefeated or the food! I want my turn to show the other teams what I can do!”
“Would you cool it, Flame brain!” Gray Fullbuster snapped pulling himself away from the delicious smell “If you keep talking like that you could be the next to die!”
Lucy however also managed to pull herself away from the smell and said “GRAY! What happened was horrible?! I can’t imagine how…horrible those teams who lost people are feeling. And I’m not sure I want to imagine” the other members of the Fairy Tail team looked down as they all comprehended the prospect of duelling Universe 12…a team seemingly determined to make every other team hate them.
Izzy stood at the edge of the room looking nervously unsure but then a hand was placed on his shoulder and Wendy Marvell smiled at him “It’s okay! You’ll get use to them” she said as Izzy nodded and the two shared a brief laugh “They’re all weird at first but they’re all nice though I suppose weird just comes with being in Fairy Tail”
Izzy smiled “Then I’ll be right at home that pink haired guy reminds me of Tai so much it’s scary”
“Natsu and I’m sure he’d take that as a compliment” Wendy said before she looked down at Tentomon who looked up and she asked “So what exactly are you?”
“I’m a Digimon…Digital monster” Tentomon said as he continued to smell the food “All I care about is that yummy smelling food now though! So I’m just going to sneak in!” he headed for the door flying over the heads of Natsu and Gray “So close!” Suddenly he stopped moving forward “HuH?!!”
“Oh no you don’t!” Natsu snapped as he was holding onto Tentomon’s back legs “I know what you’re thinking!”
Tentomon begged “Awww come on the food smells so good....”
“yeah well all the fish in there is property of me!” Happy said as he held onto Natsu’s back “Yummy little fishies! All for me!”
Tentomon sighed “Yeah well I’m not keen on fish…”
Back with Universe 7 Whis and Beerus were drooling at the door at the delicious smell as Twilight, Krillin, Tien and Android 18 approached them “Whis…Whis? We need to ask a question” Twilight said in a serious tone, Whis barely able to tear his attention away from the delicious smell turned his head slowly, the look on Twilight’s face was one of uncertainty but also great focus causing the angel to sigh “You were expecting this?
Whis nodded and even Beerus tore himself away from the smell “What happened in the duel…Goku…” Twilight began but couldn’t find the words to finish before she found her resolve “Why did he die!?”
“You know why” Beerus said in a firm but bitter tone “The damage he took was beyond what anyone could have predicted! 30,000 was unthinkable! Yet that Earthbound immortal….”
Whis tapped his staff against the floor to silence the room “I have been considering it for some time why….30,000 was overkill no body in this tournament stood a chance of surviving that…Goku was best suited to but even he couldn’t” Whis looked to them “I think it’s safe to assume 4000 lifepoint damage in a single strike you can survive it….even 10,000 but…beyond that. I’d say with every 100 points your odds look worse”
Tien asked “How much worse?”
“You don’t need to know. However I believe Universe 12 has shown their hand with this. It’s likely any loyal duelist to Gilgamesh has cards that could inflict as much as double that damage!” Whis said firmly “So we’ll probably need to approach the other teams and form an a…alliance”
“Isn’t that cheating?!” Krillin asked rubbing the back of his head as he spoke laughing slightly
Android 18 swatted the back of his head “As oppose to dying, Krillin?” she asked coolly and turned her focus back to Whis “If we were to do this we would need a way to spread the word amongst the other teams?” she then added “But I’d suggest we don’t spread the word to Universe 4. We still need to save those kids” Twilight and Krillin nodded but Tien shook his head.
“We don’t have that luxury….if we end up in a duel with 1 of our team, 1 of Universe 12 and 2 from Universe 4….we’d need their help” Tien said crossly “Universe 12 needs to be the priority and Universe 4 the secondary concern”
“We’re forgetting something we do have access to another source of information” Twilight offered as she smiled slightly “Joan, she’s now part of the Universe 6 team and she is likely providing information”
“Unless she’s a double agent” Beerus growled as he crossed his arms “From what we’ve seen Gilgamesh would never allow such a valuable source of information to slip through his fingers”
“I agree” Android 18 and Tien said at the same time.
“It’s already likely she’s being put through a long interrogation by Vados” Whis said doubtfully and he then added “I suspect most of the other teams are also preparing their strongest duellists with orders they can’t afford to be knocked out tomorrow”
Suddenly there was a knock on the door and Twilight answered it “Hello!” a man wearing a blue mask which covered one of his eyes and a green jacket as he stood at the door he looked around “Wow! I have to say this is an interesting team you have….Forgive me, I should introduce myself?” there was a pause which caused Tien to move slowly forward “My name is Kakashi Hatake of Universe 5”
“Yes well why are you here?” Tien asked slowly not trusting the man in question
“As I speak many teams are beginning to form alliances….including Universe 12” Kakashi said as he walked in and took a seat in a comfy pink chair “We were approached by someone calling themselves Assassin. She told us we either agree to help Universe 12 or share in Fluttershy, Jiro and Yugi’s fate at best…at worse…well” they all understood what Kakashi was driving at “I haven’t yet said yes…or no”
“Why not?” Twilight asked
“Simple I want to know if we have anyone capable of beating Universe 12 if not….it’d be safer to side with them” Kakashi said matter of factly “You understand we’re not keen on this idea but it seems to me Gilgamesh is only interested in seeing his wish achieved”
“Which team would even consider siding with Universe 12?!” Krillin asked but Kakashi’s eye fixed him with a knowing look “Who!?”
Meanwhile Gilgamesh sat sipping a glass of wine, next to him sat Giin both looking content as kittens as they stared across a table at the arrival of two team captains, two angels and two Gods of destruction. Gilgamesh placed his wine on the table “So our teams will team up against the others in the duels going forward regardless of who our partners are?” Gilgamesh asked as the captains looked down but their Gods looked pleased “Sounds like a waste of time to me”
Giin said “I agree but….Sidra’s team was first out of the tournament of Power and you Quitela are none too popular right now?” he laughed as the god sniffed uncomfortably “Or is there something else you want Quitela?”
Quitela nodded “I want Twilight Sparkle….The Princess of Friendship it makes me sick! I want her destroyed! Looking at her makes me sick!” he tried to sip his glass of wine but his hand crushed the glass easily in anger “Some beings just piss me off!”
“Is that it?” Gilgamesh asked
“No I want her!” Quitela said pointing at Fluttershy who sat beside Gilgamesh holding the bottle of wine “I want her to watch as I kill her!”
“Sorry but she is a trophy of victory” Gilgamesh said as he then added “But Twilight is very doable but again I find your reasoning…confusing”
“I don’t expect you to understand it! But I want revenge against Beerus as well!” Quitela snarled “And killing another duelist from his team…would just be pleasure for me!”
“And we can assume that you Sidra…you’re just wanting to avoid last place again?” Quinn asked to which Sidra nodded “Understandable but will your duelists do as you two want?” Sidra and Quitela nodded and the captains of their teams didn’t dare look in a position to question it “So Sidra how are you going to control your team?”
“Simple Ichigo here either obeys or...” Sidra began before throwing out a large crystal onto the table “Inside that crystal is the key to his loyalty” he then snapped his fingers “And our best duellist is yet to play” as the door opened and in walked a man wearing a long cloak, he smiled as he waved his hair and pushed a hand through his hair “May I present! Sōsuke Aizen” Aizen smiled calmly, his face cold and calculating as Ichigo shook in place “With you and Aizen….no one will be able to defeat us!”
“What makes you so sure?” Gilgamesh asked as he observed Aizen, there was something Gilgamesh both loved and hated about the look Aizen gave him in return
“If he duels tomorrow you’ll see him crush everyone in that duel” Sidra said confidently
Aizen said “I promise total victory and I’ll present the losers to you, Gilgamesh as a tribute to your glorious self and I promise a victory that’ll shake them more than any seen today” Gilgamesh smirked and added “I have a request of my own though” Gilgamesh put his glass down but his smile only grew “A wish on the Super Dragonballs could grand us the chance to reform our Universes!”
“I see you’re able to see the wish I want” Gilgamesh said as he realised Aizen saw the opportunity he too had decided to use and this made Gilgamesh’s confidence only grow “I imagine there are those in other teams we can exploit!”
“Funny you should mention that because I believe I have found several team members on other teams we can…recruit” Cognac said, angel of Universe 4 and he pulled out a list “Bakura of Universe 10, Maleficent of Universe 1, Sasuke of Universe 5 and Applejack of Universe 6”
“One of Universe 6?” Giin asked unsure “With us taking Fluttershy are you sure one would turn on…”
“Yes her anger at Champa is overwhelming…it’s unmistakable. I’d be willing to bet if you were to offer Fluttershy’s freedom in exchange for her working for us” Cognac explained and then smiled coldly “She’ll agree….” The door to the kitchen opened and in walked Jiro with food “ooo smells good…where is the chef?”
Jiro shrugged “He said he had to pop out for a moment”
“WHAT?! STOP HIM!” Quitella screamed in a full panic and rightly so “How long ago did he leave?!”
Jiro suddenly smirked before saying calmly “A while ago”
Gilgamesh sighed “Tell me, Jiro why didn’t you inform me?” his tone gentle but the threat clear as Jiro stood staring at him as he stood up approaching her before cupping her chin “You were defeated and still you believe you can defy me?”
“No I just did as he told me….he was just going to see his friend” Jiro said as she then added “Not my fault....though suppose it is my fault that I gave him my hero name…” Gilgamesh’s composure fell away as his expression darkened “Go ahead! Plus Ultra”
“I forgot your universe worships that worthless waste of space All Might” Gilgamesh said as he turned away “But not to worry….We’ll catch up with our chef later but Jiro…you will now learn the price of your foolish actions, Archer”
Meanwhile Sōma Yukihira ran for Universe 11’s quarters, his heart racing as he was desperate to reach safety, Jiro’s story drove him to inform the other teams of the dangers they all faced. He spotted someone outside the building “HELP!” he screamed, the boy turned his head and spotted Archer on the roof of Universe 12’s quarters taking aim at Soma “Oh please! Earphone jack! EARPHONE JACK!”
Kirashima nodded and charged forward, just as Archer fired, the arrow zipped through the air, Kirsashima hardened his skin as hard as he could and got just in between the boy and the arrow “AHHHH!” the arrow pushed him back threatening to break through as Kirashima kept hardening all he could “NO! DON’T GIVE!” Archer looked surprised as he lowered his bow. Archer zipped past Kirashima desperate to get to Soma with a dagger already drawn “NO!” Archer thrust his dagger forward but suddenly his wrist was yanked up “TSU!”
“Yep!” Froppy said as she pulled archer up and threw him “The Grand Minister said no fighting”
“Orders are orders” Archer said as he recovered dusting off his long red cape and glared at the two who dared interrupt “If you two don’t move away I’ll have to ensure…there are no witnesses and that won’t end well for you!” he thrust forward with one of his daggers at Froppy but the dagger was blocked by a sword “UH!?”
“Now that’s not safe is it” Zorro grunted as he held the sword in his teeth, Archer tried to attack round the side but Zorro moved fast enough to keep up “Not happening! Luffy!”
Suddenly a fist connected with Archer’s jaw and send him sprawling onto his back as the captain of the Strawhats walked forward his rubber arm and fist shrinking back to normal as he then used the hand to crack his other knuckle “You’re outnumbered” Luffy said dangerously as Archer looked around him, the students of UA were now pouring out hearing the sounds of battle but also the strawhats were charging over “Now leave”
“Now where’s the sport in that” A voice said from behind Luffy, just in time Froppy pulled Luffy out of the way as a sword came down on the floor and Luffy was left shocked to see who had launched the attack “uhhh guess my swing is getting worse” Kenpachi said as he looked towards the charging strawhats “Huh this should help get the rust off….” Suddenly Zorro was swinging his swords at Kenpachi forcing the captain to block “oooo now this is fun! At least if I cut your arms off! You’ll still be able to fight!”
“Try it!” Zorro snarled
Archer pulled back his bow taking aim at Soma again and fired but this time the arrow was blown off course as a blue tornado appeared in front of the boy “Forgive me…I saw you were fighting and decided to cut in” Neji said as he stood confidently ready but the ninja was forced to dodge a sword swing of another new comer “Hmm and you are?”
“You can call me Saber” the blonde woman said as she walked closer “but I prefer Atoria Pendragon”
However before the fight could grow any worse, the Grand Minister appeared amongst all the combatants “I said for you all to remain civil…I’d suggest you all seize fighting before I am forced to disqualify all those involved in this!” his voice was calm but it held a serious note of dangerous anger “Soma…you are meant to be cooking for the Universe 12 team…I’d suggest getting back there before I report this to your teachers”
“Well too bad! Report me! I’d rather a failing grade, than a failing character!” Soma snapped “And for trying to visit my friend…they try to kill me?”
The Grand minister nodded “Archer, Saber, Captain Kenpachi! I’d suggest you head back to your quarters before I disqualify you!” Kenpachi shrugged and the Grand Minister glared at him “I mean it”
“Like I care…I only agreed to learn to play the stupid game so I could meet strong fighters” Kenpachi said and added “I really wanted a go at that Goku besides I’m only a substitute duelist”
“Yeah! Kenny fears no one!” a small girl said behind him
Kenpachi nodded “Thank you, Yachiru” he turned away as Yachiru climbed up onto his back but as Kenpachi walked past Zorro he paused and smirked at the Strawhat’s swordsman “Careful green hair…next time we fight…I will take your arms off” Kenpachi walked away but as he did “Followed by your head”
Saber and Archer left without any further words, closely followed by the strawhats and Neji left as well. The grand minister glanced down at Soma but weirdly didn’t say or do anything as he hovered upwards to the Zeno’s palace but then the Universe 11 main doors opened and Deku ran out followed by the Team 11’s chef, Ryoko Sakaki who spotted Soma and looked very surprised “Soma?! What are you doing here?!”
“I need to speak to the team captain!” Soma snapped looking concerned “Jiro send me! We overheard what Universe 12, 4 and 9 are planning!” Deku nodded as they all headed inside to find Iida looking very annoyed but what he saw the shaken looks of Deku and Tsu he looked to Soma with confusion. Soma explained everything before the entire Universe 11 team “I know the rules say I should have just let it happen but watching that duel earlier…”
Belmond nodded “Rules are made to be broken…we’ll need to spread the word. The next round will likely be a free roam style game where duelling skill and physical strength will play as important a part as the other” his tone didn’t change as he spoke but then his tone turned very dark “And if that does happen….Universe 12 will have an advantage if Universes 4 and 9 don’t attack them”
Deku nodded “It’s likely teams with the most undefeated players will also be targeted more heavily. Universe 9 has the most remaining duellists after Universe 3. The team in the worst spot as far as that’s concerned is Universe 2 but without their leader they’re looking very shaky” he explained as the others couldn’t help but agree “And we’re not in great shape either”
“Don’t forget about Universe 7 without Goku they’ll struggle” Dyspo chipped in
Belmond added “Not forgetting Universe 6 if Universe 12 approaches them regardless of how their duellists feel…Ginn could get them on side. Even returning his hostage in exchange for their loyalty” he rubbed his chin “I can’t help but find that Gilgamesh rather impressive”
“But that Sakura girl…she’s terrifying” Uraraka whispered before saying out loud “Maybe we should see if we can form alliances?”
“Trouble is….which Universes” Momo asked as she added “It’s hard to believe Rukia would be on a team with…”
“Really?” Dyspo asked slowly “Given his team mate took your friend away to be a lab rat”
Soma looked cross as the others seemed to be ignoring him but Deku noticed “Something wrong?” Soma nodded “You’re expression makes…”
“I want in on this tournament!” Soma snapped his tone and mannerism gave away he was serious “Jiro asked me to get word to you but Jiro is now my friend! And I won’t abandon a friend! That’s just not what I’m about”
“Do you even know how to play this game?!” Momo asked but Soma shook his head “Then I’m afraid you’re not much use….” Soma nodded “And our team is already chosen! Our reserves are full! The only team according to the charts with open spots in their reserves is Universe 7!”
“Then I’ll go to them!” Soma snapped as he headed for the door but a hand grabbed his hand “What…Ryoko!” the Universe 11 chef looked down “What is it?” she handed him a stack of cards “Huh?”
“I should have known you’d want in to…save a friend” Ryoko said as she looked at the deck “This is the deck of our dorm….it’s outdated but I thought we’d need it! So I asked Fumio and she gave me her blessing! But Soma you have to be careful!”
“I can’t leave a friend in such a miserable position! Gilgamesh ordered me not to prepare food for her, Fluttershy or Yugi….I can’t take it! I must help!”” Soma snapped as he looked through the deck “Wait this deck…it’s a…” Ryoko nodded as she handed him one last card “This is….”
“You can do it, Soma….I’ll let the others know” Ryoko said as Soma turned to leave but Deku put a hand on his shoulder “What is it?!”
“Universe 7, 2, 3 and 8 have proven trustworthy! I say we approach them!” Deku said as the rest of the team nodded “I’ll go with Soma to Universe 7. Momo, you head for Universe 2, Uraraka you ask Universe 3 and Kirashima you ask Universe 8!” the three nodded as they headed out.
Soma and Deku reached the Universe 7 dorm but as they drew closer “Who goes there?!” Rainbow Dash stepped out her eyes puffy and her face a mixture of sadness and anger “Why are you here?!”
“Rainbow Dash?” Soma asked to which Rainbow nodded, he held up a single card and Rainbow snatched it “She gave me that to give to you”
Deku said “Soma here has told us what Universe 12 is planning and wants to join Universe 7’s team to duel” Rainbow looked cross as Soma held up the cards Ryoko had given him “Please! We want to form an alliance!”
Rainbow shook “And why should I trust you two!? One of my best friends is in chains! I have to save her!” Soma walked closer and nodded “How could you know my pain?!”
“Because no one deserves to have me cook a meal mere inches from them! Then to be told they’ll only be getting scraps from the table! I’m a chef, my duty is to cook for those that are hungry and enrich their dining experience! I’m Soma Yukihira!” Soma said confidently as he then added “I’ve fought in many a food war but now I want to help in any way I can!”
Rainbow broke down as her tears fell to the ground and she fell to her knees saying as she looked up from the ground “I guess you should come in then”
As Soma and Deku met with the remaining Universe 7 team, Whis sighed as Megumi sat with Soma and Deku “This isn’t an easy problem to resolve but I think having Soma as a reserve isn’t a good idea” Soma looked cross but Whis shook his head “With all due respect Soma, you don’t know how to play and as soon as we register you as a reserve member….you could be selected to duel! And the first round has two more days to go. We’ll be counting on you be chosen for the last day of the first round whilst your taught to play…what’s more we don’t have a teacher….”
“You do now” said a voice from the door as Seto Kaiba walked in “I’ll teach you to duel….”
Twilight looked over “Aren’t you from Universe 10? Why would you want to teach Soma?!” she asked
“Because my biggest rival is being used as a…chair!” Kaiba screamed before kicking a chair over “Anything I can do to give Universe 12 a bit of payback I welcome”
“What are you even doing here?” Krillin asked slowly
“I needed a walk…ever since Yuesi was killed…my team mates are all taking it differently” Kaiba admitted as he added “I felt like I needed to do something productive…Soma I will teach you but I’ll need your full effort!” Soma nodded as Kaiba frowned before nodding “Let’s see your deck”
Next morning the Grand Minister was informed of Soma’s inclusion on Universe 7’s team roaster “Well I guess your team is a real mix of universes” the Grand Minister sighed but nodded “Okay…get back to your team” once Whis hovered down the Grand Minster called out “Day two….time for the lights. Red team first”
The red lights shot up and hovered round before both red lights shot down to Universe 12 and 9 “Sōsuke Aizen of Universe 9 and Kirei Kotomine of Universe 12! Now Blue team!” the blue lights shot up flying round before both lights shot down “Sora Takenouchi of Universe 4 and Scootaloo of Universe 6 are selected”
Rainbow cried out “NO! Stop! Scoots!”
“Rainbow?” Scootaloo asked clearly scared as she stepped out, Rainbow screaming in uncontrollable grief as Twilight and Sunset held her back “I’ll be okay Rainbow” Rainbow’s screams became unbearably loud.
Applejack looked on as she looked away, Pinkie couldn’t help but cry, Rarity hugging Sweetie Belle as she sobbed out “It’ll be okay, Sweetie…She’ll win. I promise” Rarity choked through her words as Sweetie Belle couldn’t bear to look on “Please no”
