The next day Turquoise was near the end of her match on the Water Battlefield which was a pool with platforms in it. Both she and her opponent were down to their last pokemon Turquoise with her Zoroark and her opponent with his Starmie.

“ Zoroark use Night Daze and end this. Zoroark unleashed her Night Daze which managed to finish Starmie off.

“ Starmie is unable to battle. Zoroark is the winner which means Turquoise wins the match,” The Ref said while pointing his right flag at Turquoise.

“ And Turquoise proceeds to day three of the preliminaries,” The announcer said as Turquosie’s picture with a winner icon beneath it appeared on the jumbotron.

“ I wonder how the others are doing?” Turquoise asked herself as she and Rarity left to catch the other matches.





Sometime later Rarity and Turquoise made it in time to catch Rainbow’s Match on the Grass Battlefield along with Applejack.

“ You girls are just in time. Rainbow still has her Blastoise and hasn’t lost a single pokemon yet,” Applejack said Before Rainbow finished off her opponent’s last Pokemon which was a Turtonator.

“ Turtonator is unable to battle. Blastoise is the winner which means Rainbow Wins the match,” The ref said while pointing his left flag at Rainbow as her picture and the winner icon appeared on the jumbotron.

“ And there you have it folks after an intense battle Rainbow moves on to day three,” The announcer said. As soon as Rainbow recalled her Blastoise she and Applejack along with Turquoise and Rarity left for the Ice Battlefield. As soon as they got there they saw Pinkie along with Twilight and Fluttershy watching the match.

“ How did your match go Twilight?” Turquoise asked.

“ It was quick and I won,” Twilight said.

“ That’s good now let’s hope Sunset wins,” Rainbow said. Suddenly Sunset managed to finish her opponent off.

“ Seviper is unable to battle Inteleon is the winner which means Sunset wins the match,” The Ref said while pointing his right flag at Sunset.

“ And there you have it folks Sunset will be moving on to day three,” The announcer said. As soon as the girls found out where they were battling next they turned in for the night





The next day Turquoise was up first on the Rock Battlefield which was a field made of rocky terrain with boulders on various parts of the field. Her opponent was a boy dressed in a western outfit.

“ My name is Billy Bob and I hope yall ready to lose,” The boy said.

“ You're the one who will lose,” Turquoise said.

“ If both trainers are ready, call out your first pokemon,” The Ref said.

“ Donphan let’s go,” The boy said as he called out a grey elephant-like creature with armored spots. Turquoise pulled out her Pokedex for information.

“ Donphan. The Armor Pokemon. Donphan's favorite attack is curling its body into a ball, then charging at its foe while rolling at high speed. Once it starts rolling, this Pokémon can't stop very easily,” The Pokedex said.

“ He will most likely use that to his advantage in that case. Go Drakloak,” Turquoise said as she called out her Drakloak.

“ Donphan let’s start with Rollout. Donphan was about to curl into a ball until Turquoise reacted.

“ Drakloak use Sucker Punch. Drakloak flew at Donphan with lightning-fast speed and punched Donphan into one of the boulders. “ Now use Dragon Tail. Drakloak was about to slam Donphan with a tail covered in dragon scales until Billy reacted.

“ Donphan use Iron Defense. Donphan curled into a ball before being covered in a metallic sheen indicating its defense went up. Even though Iron Defense lesson the damage Donphan was still forced to return to its Pokeball and was replaced with a yellow and white hound-like creature.

“ And it looks like Donphan was forced to retreat and in its place is Boltund,” The announcer said as Turquoise pulled out her Pokedex.

“ Boltund. The Dog Pokemon and the evolved form of Yamper. It sends electricity through its legs to boost its strength. Running at top speed, it easily breaks 50 mph,” The Pokedex said.

“ Now you’re in for it. Boltund use Electric Terrain. Bultund unleashed a pulse of Electricity that covered the entire field and electrified it.

“ What in tarnation just happened?” Applejack asked.

“ That is called Electric Terrain it’s a move that changes the surrounding environment into electricity which not only powers up electric-type moves it also prevents pokemon on the ground from falling asleep,” Twilight explained.

“ Like that will stop us. Drakloak use Phantom Force. Drakloak suddenly vanished from plain sight as if she went into the shadows.

“ Stay on your guard Boltund. Boltund remained calm and tried to sense where Drakloak was going to strike from. Suddenly Drakloak appeared from behind Boltund.

“ Boltund behind you,” Billy shouted only to be too late as Drakloak struck Boltund with enough power to knock it out.

“ Boltund is unable to battle Drakloak is the winner,” The Ref said while pointing his right flag at Turquoise. Suddenly Drakloak began to glow indicating that the time had arrived for her to Evolve. Drakloak began to grow slightly bigger as the frills on the sides of her head grew and formed a single boomerang shape. As soon as the glow died down a dragon with the same colors as Drakloak but with a red boomerang-shaped head floated where Drakloak was.

“ And it looks like Turquosie’s Drakloak has evolved into a Dragapult,” The announcer shouted as Turquoise pulled out her Pokedex again.

“ Dragapult. The Stealth Pokemon and the evolved form of Drakloak. When it isn't battling, it keeps Dreepy in the holes on its horns. Once a fight starts, it launches the Dreepy like supersonic missiles,” The Pokedex said.

“ And it looks like you learned a new move,” Turquoise said.

“ So what if your Drakloak evolved it does not mean you won,” Billy said.

“ Then why don’t you call out your next pokemon so we can continue,” Turquoise said.

“ Very well. Donphan Let’s go,” Billy said as he called his Donphan back out. “ Let’s start with Rollout again. Donphan managed to curl itself into a ball and got rolling towards Dragapult at high speed.

“ Dragapult use Dragon Pulse. Dragapult fired a sphere made of light green energy at Donphan which caused a good amount of damage to knock it out.

“ Donphan is unable to battle Dragapult is the winner,” The ref said as he pointed his right flag at Turquoise.

“ Donphan return,” Billy said as he recalled his Donphan. Billy looked upset that he was going up against a Pokemon his next one would not stand a chance against. “ Flapple Lets go. A green dragonic looking creature with wings that looked like the skin of an apple flew onto the battlefield which prompted Turquoise to pull out her Pokedex again.

“ Flapple. The Apple Wing Pokemon. It ate a sour apple, and that induced its evolution. In its cheeks, it stores an acid capable of causing chemical burns,” The Pokedex said.

“ Flapple, let's start with Dragon Dance. Flapple spun around as its attack and Speed stats rose. “ Now use Dragon Rush. Flapple flew at Dragapult like a missile covered in a dragon-shaped energy field.

“ We won’t lose to you. Dragpult use Dragon Tail. Dragapult retaliated with her tail covered in dragon scales which resulted in both moves colliding with each other and caused both Pokemon to faint.

“ Both pokemon are unable to battle so this match is a draw however since Flapple was Billy’s third Pokemon Turquoise wins the match,” The ref said as he crossed his flags. After recalling her Dragapult Turquoise left to see how the others were doing with their matches. All four girls made it to the last day of the Preliminaries and went back to the trainer village to rest up for their matches. Which luckily for them took place at different times with Turquoise being in the afternoon on the Grass Battlefield and everyone else being in the morning.





The next day The morning matches were concluded with Rainbow, Twilight, And Sunset making it to the main tournament and now it was Turquoise’s turn to win her place in the main tournament. As soon as she set foot on the battlefield which was basically just a field of grass she noticed her opponent was not there yet. Suddenly the sound of a flute was heard coming from the corridor on the opposite side where Turquoise stood indicating Turquoise’s opponent was making a flashy entrance. Suddenly a girl wearing a Vileplume style kimono with her red hair styled into a ponytail walked onto the field playing her flute which got the crowd excited.

“ And it looks like Makoto finally makes her appearance,” The announcer said as Makoto’s cheering section erupted with applause and chants.

“ So you're my final opponent in the prelims? You don’t look that impressive,” Makoto said.

“ Wait until after the battle to judge me,” Turquoise said before the ref told them to call out their first Pokemon.

“ Lurantis to Battle,” Makoto said as a flower-like mantis landed on the field elegantly after coming out of her pokeball. Turquoise pulled out her Pokedex for more info.

“ Lurantis. The Bloom Sickle Pokemon. The petals on this Pokémon's arms are thin and super sharp, and they can fire laser beams if Lurantis gathers light first,” The Pokedex said. Turquoise remembered how her battle with Erika went and how her Ninetails’s Drought Ability turned on her during that match.

“ Corviknight come on out,” Turquoise said as she called out her Corviknight.

“ What gives, why isn't she using her Ninetails?” Rainbow asked.

“ Turquoise is using what she learned from her past experience,” Twilight said.

“ So you're saying Turquoise was in a situation like this before?” Sunset asked.

“ In her gym battle against Erika Turquoise was set on using Ninetails to burn through all of Erika’s grass-types only for Drought to be used against her since all three of Erika’s pokemon had the Chlorophyll ability,” Twilight said.

“ I get it she must have picked up on Lurantis having an ability that requires Sunny Day Status,” Sunset said.

“ Plus with Corviknight being a Flying and Steel-type any Grass-Type moves used on it won’t be as effective,” Twilight said.

“ Lurantis let's start with Sunny Day. Lurantis unleashed a ball of orange energy into the sky which caused the sun’s rays to intensify.

“ Corviknight use Drill Peck. Corviknight managed to unleash quite a powerful Drill Peck that managed to knock Lurantis out in a single shot.

“ Lurantis is unable to battle Corviknight is the winner,” The Ref said while pointing his right flag at Turquoise.

“ Lurantis return,” Makoto said before recalling Lurantis. Makoto decided to fight fire with fire or in this case flight with flight. “ Tropius to battle. A big winged creature with a long neck with palm grass for wings and a banana bunch under its chin appeared before hovering over the field. Turquoise looked up more info with her Pokedex.

“ Tropius. The Fruit Pokemon. It flies by flapping its broad leaves and gives the sweet, delicious fruit around its neck to children,” The Pokedex said.

“ Now it's our turn to attack. Tropius use Solar Beam. Tropius charged up energy quickly before firing it a few seconds later thanks to the Sunny Day status. Corviknight tried to dodge it but Tropius was just too quick for him.

“ Don’t tell me your Tropius has the Chlorophyll ability?” Turquoise said.

“ Exactly now as long as the Sun is out my Tropius can fly circles around your Corviknight,” Makoto said.

“ We shall see about that. Corviknight return,” Turquoise said as she recalled Corviknight. Turquoise pulled out another one of her Pokeballs and threw it. “ Goodra come on out. Goodra popped out and looked pleased to battle. “ Goodra use Rain Dance. Goodra unleashed a ball made of blue energy that burst and then created a bunch of rain clouds that not only blocked out the sun but also caused a downpour. “ Now use Dragon Pulse. Goodra unleashed a sphere made of light green energy. Tropius tried to dodge it but was too slow and took a good amount of damage before falling towards the ground. “ Now finish this with Acid Spray. Goodra unleashed a breath of yellow liquid at Goodra which resulted in Tropius fainting.

“ Tropius is unable to battle Goodra is the winner,” The Ref said while pointing his right flag at Turquoise.

:” Tropius return,” Makoto said before recalling Tropius. Makoto pinned all her hopes on her third pokemon. “ Roserade to battle. Roserade came out ready to battle. “ Roserade let's start with Magical Leaf. Roserade fired a bunch of leaves at Goobra who just took it without feeling a thing. “ Why is your Goodra unaffected?”

“ Looks like Turquosie’s Goodra has the Sap Sipper ability which not only raises Goodra’s attack when he gets hit by Grass-Type moves but also makes him unaffected by them.

“ Goodra use Dragon Pulse. Goodra unleashed his Dragon Pulse which managed to deal enough damage to Roserade to knock it out.

“ Rose Rade is unable to battle Goodra is the winner which means Turquoise wins the match,” The ref said while pointing his right flag at Turquoise.

“ And there you have it folks Turquoise moves on to the main tournament,” The announcer said before Turquoise recalled her Goodra and rejoined her friends while Makoto left in a fit of rage.

“ I can,t wait to begin the main tournament tomorrow,” Rainbow said.

“ I’m afraid you will need to keep waiting because the next two days are rest days so we won’t be resuming until then,” Twilight said.

“ Fine with me what do you girls want to do?” Turquoise asked.

“ We can look around the shops,” Rarity suggested.

“ We can do that,” Turquoise said. As soon as the girls finished checking the shops out and having dinner they all turned in for the night.
