Flying Home

Two pegasi zoomed through the evening sky, leaving a rainbow and a navy blue trail behind them.

“Soarin, I am offended. I am not that scary,” the rainbow maned pegasus yelled with a smug grin as she chased the navy blue maned pegasus.

“Hah. You’d have to become the Element of Honesty to make me believe that, Rainbow Dash,” Soarin yelled back. Ever since they had left the Wonderbolts HQ, Rainbow Dash had dropped her innocent act and was constantly teasing him. She had shamelessly revealed all her previous attempts to get him alone with her. Soarin had become more and more embarrassed by her revelations, hence why he was rushing away from her.

“Soarin, wait!”

“No!” He didn’t need to slow down. She was the fastest flier in Equestria, it wouldn’t be long until she caught up to him.

“But you don’t know the directions to my house.”

Soarin’s eyes widened as the realization hit him, and he slowed down immediately. Rainbow Dash caught up to him without breaking a sweat.

“Alright”, Soarin said in a defeated tone.

“If you were in such a hurry to reach my house and “punish” me, you could have just said so.” Rainbow Dash puffed her cheeks to stop herself from laughing. Soarin’s eyes widened, his feathers twitching as his face turned beet red. She noticed this and decided to toy with him a little more.

“I wonder what kinda dirty thoughts are popping in that head of yours.” She nudged him while snickering.

“THAT’S IT!” Soarin lost it and pushed Rainbow Dash onto a nearby cloud. She landed on the cloud with a PUFF. Shaking her head, she partly got up only to be pushed down by Soarin. She struggled under his grip, but her shoulders were held down firmly.

“My my, lookie what we got here!” Soarin sneered in a low menacing tone, leaning over her muzzle. “If it isn’t THE awesome Rainbow Dash, trapped in the hooves of THE great Soarin.” He stopped when he was nose to nose with her. “You must be getting sloppy,” he whispered

Provoking her ego might get her to drop her flirty attitude. Or at least that’s what Soarin thought. She stopped struggling, reached up to his neck, and ran her hoof through his mane.

A sly smile formed on her face and her eyes lidded.

“This isn’t good.”

“Are you gonna kiss me, O great Soarin?” she whispered seductively.

Soarin’s eyes widened. His whole body tingled. What was with her today? Since when did Rainbow Dash have a voice sweet as honey?

Soarin blinked, noticing the smirk on her muzzle, and wanted nothing more than to wipe it off. But not with a kiss. Kissing her would mean playing into her little game.

“You are not winning this Dash.”

“Kiss you?” he scoffed. “No. I said I was gonna ‘punish’ you. And my ‘punishment’ does not involve doing what you desire.”
He traced his muzzle to the base of her neck. He smirked as he felt her shiver slightly. Her reaction convinced him that she would be entranced after what he was about to do. “You are sadly mistaken.” He glanced at her, parted his lips, then slowly ran his tongue up her neck, stopping just below her lips.

“Hrgh!” Rainbow Dash bit her lip and shut her eyes as a shiver ran down her body, her open wings stretching out and then curling up.

Soarin pulled back and looked at her. Her head was turned to the side with her eyes closed. She looked vulnerable, enticing him further, but he stopped himself. He wanted to tease her and leave her hanging for more. Satisfied with the effect he had on her, he grinned and got off her. She still laid there in a daze, contemplating what had just happened.

“Rainbow Dash. Earth to Rainbow Dash.” Soarin waved a hoof in front of her eyes.

“Huh?” She blinked multiple times and noticed that Soarin had already gotten off her. She quickly sat up, blushing.

“You’re so evil,” she mumbled, shifting her eyes to the cloud beneath her. Her mouth twitched into a smile and a dreamy expression overtook her face. She wouldn’t deny it, she was expecting more.

“Eh, I try my best”, Soarin said nonchalantly. “Besides, the same goes for you too.”

Rainbow Dash looked up sharply to retort but stopped, mesmerized by what she saw.

“Wow, look at that,” Rainbow Dash gasped, pointing her hoof behind him and walking in his direction.

“Oh I am not falling for—“ she walked past him, “—that.”

Confused, Soarin turned around to find Dash sitting at the cloud’s edge, with her back towards him. At first, he thought it was one of her tricks, but when he saw the scene before him, he too had a similar reaction.

“Wow!” He gasped and sat down next to her.

The sun had almost gone down, casting a dark orange shade on the horizon, below which Ponyville could be seen. The sky above was a crisscross of purple, pink, and yellow shades.

A cool breeze started to blow. Soarin shifted his eyes to Rainbow Dash, who was still gazing at the beautiful scene. A warm glow was cast on her coat, her mane swaying lightly. He gazed up and down her physique. She had attractive feminine curves, and, Celestia, was she well built.

He glanced up, only to be met with her rosy eyes. He couldn’t resist staring into those eyes. Who would want to? All those feelings he had buried deep down since the Equestria Games tryouts began to surface. To hell with teasing and punishing her, he wanted to hold her, to kiss her, to… his eyes slowly shifted to her lips. They were pulled in a… smirk?

That’s when he realized he had been caught staring at her. He wanted to give in but there was something still nagging him, it had been since they had left the HQ. He grinned awkwardly and then turned away.

“Look, Dash, I know you well enough to confidently say that you are not a flirt,” Soarin said in a serious tone. Rainbow tilted her head, confused as to where this was going.

“What I mean to say is, for you to be acting like this, there must be genuine feelings of love in here.” Soarin placed a hoof on her chest, looking directly into her eyes. “Am I right?”

Rainbow blushed and nodded sheepishly.

“Care to tell me, since when?” Soarin asked in a gentle voice, retracing his hoof.

Rainbow Dash let out an exasperated sigh. “Guess I have to tell you, huh?” she muttered. She wasn’t one to express emotion and have all these lovey-dovey talks. At least she was saved from some of the trouble of spelling out her feelings, thanks to Soarin.

“S-since the...Equestria Games tryouts.” She forced the words out.

“What a coincidence. The Equestria Games tryouts sure were special,” Soarin thought.

“I-I was having a hard time figuring it out”, she continued reluctantly, while shuffling her forehooves and avoiding eye contact. “Aand…” She sighed. “—and accepting it”, she finished through gritted teeth. She looked away as her cheeks started burning.

“Accepting?” he asked, although he knew the answer.

Rainbow’s wings flared out as she snapped.“TH-THAT I’M IN LOVE, DAMMIT!” She flailed her hooves as she continued. “I MEAN, WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT THE DAREDEVIL RAINBOW DASH COULD FALL IN—“, she stuck her tongue out with a disgusted face, “—love.” She huffed.

An awkward silence fell between them. Rainbow’s face was as red as a tomato. She blinked and looked away, covering her face with one of her wings. She couldn’t believe she had let it all out. All those feelings had been trapped in her for too long, and they had burst out at Soarin’s attempts to tease her.

“Your embarrassment is kinda cute.” Soarin blurted out the first thing that came to his mind and soon regretted it.

Before he knew it, Soarin was pushed roughly. In his moment of panic, he grabbed the first thing— or pony, in this case— he could for support. Rainbow Dash yelped as she was pulled down along with him, off the cloud and towards the ground.

Out of instinct, Rainbow Dash tried to open her wings, but only one of them moved; the other was trapped under Soarin’s arm. She barely managed to slow their descent with just one of her wings, despite the added weight of the pony holding on to her. She looked at him with anger.

“Soarin, you idiot—”, she yelled.
“Me? How am I the idiot? You were the one who pushed me,” he yelled back. “Sure, I uttered that one word you despise, but you didn’t have to be so rough.”

Rainbow’s eye twitched. It was a good thing they were high up, or else, in their pointless argument, they would have ended up with terrible injuries.

“Ugh, what I meant to say was,” she prodded his open wings as she yelled in his face, “FLAP YOUR WINGS, CLIPPER!”

The realization hit him, and he gave a few powerful thrusts with his wings, slowing their descent. Just before they hit the ground, Soarin pulled up, flying vertically, at high speed. When he felt they were a good distance above the ground, he slowed down.
That was when he noticed Rainbow Dash. Her hooves were wrapped around him tightly, with her head resting on his chest.

“Uh, Dash?” he called out.
Her eyes shot open and she noticed her position. After wondering how she had ended up like this, Rainbow Dash tried to push off him but his arm was still on her.

“Can you—” Rainbow Dash started.

Before she could complete her sentence, Soarin moved his hoof off her closed wing so she could open it. He then wrapped his hoof around her back and pulled her in. They were still ascending slowly, and she flapped along without complaining.

Their foreheads were touching, blocking out everything other than each other’s faces. They stared into each other’s eyes with a burning passion. Neither of them cared about their silly fight, near-death experience, or the ‘flirting duel’. All thoughts were put aside as they got lost in every detail on the other’s face. Neither wanted to resist the other anymore, and so, waited eagerly for the other to make the first move.

They passed through a cloud, the cool mist snapping them out of their daze. Not wanting to let the opportunity slip by, they hastily crashed into each other’s lips.

The word ‘perfect’ crossed their minds as they moaned and melted into the kiss.

Rainbow Dash wrapped all her hooves around him as a prickling warmth spread throughout her body. Her forehooves found their way into his mane while Soarin’s hoof wrapped around her neck, pulling her in. Rainbow Dash bit his lip roughly, while Soarin’s tongue licked her lips. They both fought for domination, letting out moans of delight and satisfaction, until they ran out of breath and pulled apart, panting heavily.
They had stopped ascending and were hovering in place. The sun had gone down completely and the night had taken over.

Just when Soarin had caught his breath, Rainbow’s lips met his again, hungrily. He didn’t mind, after all, he wanted this just as much as she did. Besides, they were pretty high up and far away from Ponyville. The darkness of the night would make it harder for anyone to spot them, just in case someone passed by. To top it off, the cool night breeze along with the full moon created the perfect atmosphere.

It was getting uncomfortable in the air, so, without breaking the kiss, Soarin guided them to a nearby cloud. He slowly shifted their positions so that he was above her and then landed on the cloud. Soarin broke the kiss with a loud smack and moved his lips down her neck leaving a trail of kisses. Rainbow Dash gasped; her blood was pounding in her head. She had never felt this excited and vulnerable at the same time. She reached up and nibbled his ear, grabbing his attention.

“Do that again”, she whispered in his ear. “What you did earlier with your tongue.”

There it was again, that sweetly seductive voice. Soarin snickered.

“What was that?” he asked innocently in a hoarse voice.
“You heard me.” Rainbow Dash bit his ear.
“Ow! Ok, ok, I get it, you hungry little mare.”
He got a light punch to his stomach and another bite to his ear.

Soarin chuckled as she let go of his ear, allowing him to do what she had asked. He repeated his previous act, running his tongue slowly up her neck. Rainbow’s wings extended out and then curled with her feathers fluffing up. She shut her eyes, her breath hitching in her throat, and her fur stood on ends as pleasure spread throughout her body. She let out a content sigh. Soarin licked her lips and then proceeded up to her ear. He nibbled at the tip, but immediately let go when he felt Rainbow’s lips on his neck.

She wrapped her forehooves around his neck and pulled him closer. She pecked him at the base of his neck and then ran her tongue up his neck before biting his lip. A tingle went through Soarin’s body, his hooves weakened, and he fell on her.

“Oof.” Rainbow Dash grunted. “You’re heavy, you know.”

They stared at each other for a few seconds and then burst out laughing at their state. The moment was gone. Soarin rolled off of her and laid down next to her. Rainbow Dash scooted closer to him and rested her head on his chest. Soarin put his hoof behind her neck for support and wrapped a wing around her. They adjusted to get comfortable in each other’s embrace. The night sky was decorated with stars along with a full moon. They watched the sky in silence just enjoying each other’s presence and warmth.

“Sooo, what about your feelings?” Rainbow Dash asked out of nowhere.
Soarin snorted.
“I’ve felt for you since the Equestria Games tryouts,” Soarin said as he stroked her gently with his wing.
Rainbow Dash turned around in the embrace to face him.
“Woah,” she said in disbelief.

“I know right. If only we had told each other.” Soarin tightened his grip around her. “Buuut that wouldn’t have been as exciting.” He winked and pecked her nose.

Rainbow Dash let out a chuckle…  “How did we end up like this anyway?”

“Hmm. Let’s see.” Soarin tapped his hoof on his chin and put on a confused expression. “How did we end up cuddling each other?” She did ask, so why not play with her a little. He smirked. “Oh yeah, I called you cute, and then we fell—oof”

Rainbow Dash punched his chest.
“Don’t. Ever. Call. Me. That.” She gritted her teeth and narrowed her eyes trying to look menacing, but she couldn’t stop herself from smiling. She would never admit that she liked that word, coming from him.

“But couldn’t you allow it just for me?” He pouted.

“Not a chance,” she said as she stuck her tongue out.

Soarin stared at her for a few seconds with a smirk on his face, then pulled her muzzle towards him. He leaned in and whispered into her ear, “I will make you love that word.”

Her ears perked up and her cheeks flushed. She was dazed for a few seconds but managed to quickly regain her composure.

Rainbow Dash smirked and retorted, “We’ll see about that.”

Soarin chuckled. “You don’t give up, do you?” She had been taken aback a few moments ago but had still managed to retort. Always maintaining a tough exterior, he liked that about her.

“Nope, never have and—” Rainbow Dash stifled a yawn, flopped down onto his chest, and closed her eyes. “—and never will.”

“We should get going,” Soarin said.

“I was gonna race you home, but I’m too tired”, Rainbow Dash mumbled. Normally she would jump at the first opportunity she got to show off her awesomeness, but right now she just wanted a warm cuddle and, according to her, being tired was less sappy than asking him to cuddle her to sleep.

“Rainbow Dash and tired? You must be up to something,” Soarin chuckled. “Or my hearing must be going bad.”

“Shut up, you. Pillows don’t talk.” She wrapped her hooves around his chest and sighed. Soarin let out a forced laugh.

“But seriously, it will be freezing here in a few hours.” He freed himself from her grasp and stood up.

“Hey!” Rainbow Dash glared at him as her source of warmth was separated from her. Her face soon lit up as a smug grin spread on her lips. She flew upwards, did a flip in the air, and gracefully landed belly first on his back while yawning. Seeing her do a flip and a not-so-convincing yawn, Soarin knew she wasn’t tired.

“Let’s go,” Rainbow Dash said nonchalantly.

"She is up to something alright,” Soarin thought. "Her pride would never let her be carried by someone.” He got his answer when she nestled her head between his shoulders and gently wrapped her hooves around his neck. She let out a content sigh as she wiggled to get comfortable.

She popped one eye open when he didn’t move and noticed him looking at her with a smug grin. He had figured it out. She smirked back and closed her eyes.

“Alright, schemer,” Soarin laughed as he hovered. He didn’t have to hear it from her, Soarin knew she wanted to cuddle. “Tell me the directions.”

“Sure,” Rainbow said in an amused tone, glad that he was playing along.

Her warm breath tickled Soarin’s fur, but he tried not to think about it and took flight in the direction she pointed. The earlier they reached her home the better. They had been practicing until they were exhausted and it wouldn’t be long until sleep clutched him in its grasp. They still had to practice their stunt though, that is, after a good, cuddly night’s rest. But Soarin knew they wouldn’t be having a problem with the stunt at all.
