In the morning, the gang and ponies decided to split up. Shaggy, Scooby, Pinkie Pie and Applejack would be in the convention asking questions and looking around. Velma and Twilight were going to be in the library searching old records of the city to find out why the convention was so important to Tartarus. Fred, Daphne, Rarity, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash meanwhile, were going to be in the convention looking in the storage area and reviewing security footage to find clues.
Velma and Twilight were in the library basement looking for records. the whole basement was covered in cobwebs and everything was dusty.
"This place could really use a clean" Said Twilight brushing past the cobwebs.
"Try looking for a book or a box that has less dust than everything else," Said Velma, "Maybe someone picked something out that could help us"
Twilight looked at Velma with a glare, "You really don't believe in magic, do you?"
Velma turned to Twilight and said, "I spent my whole life reading about facts, books on science and technology, and learned anything that looked like magic was just a trick done by someone doing science or using a machine."
"If I lived in your world I would've believed that too, and I have often thought about not using magic at all and instead using science and whatever contraption somepony made to make life easier" Explained Twilight.
Velma smiled at Twilight, "That's really good thinking, too bad it came from a unicorn"
Twilight laughed at that comment, "And I had to hear magic wasn't real from a human"
Twilight and Velma continued to search until Twilight found something.
"Hey, I think I found something" said Twilight as she lifted a book off the ground with her horn.
Velma looked surprised seeing Twilight lift an object into the air just by having her horn glow and hold the book up with the same glow.
"I'm just not gonna question that" Velma said.
They read through the book. It was full of pictures of what the city was like many years ago, pictures of people who were long dead or just old. Then a page caught Twilight's eye.
"Wait a minute," Twilight said and she points to a picture, "I think this where the convention is"
"You're right, there used to be a bank there," Velma said, "But it got torn down, that was a long time ago, and it says before the bank was demolished, there was a robbery. The crook was arrested but the money was never found"
"Rainbow said Tartarus wanted a treasure, and he wanted everyone out the convention" Said Twilight.
"Tartarus must think that missing money is somewhere in the convention" said Velma.
"I know my element is also in the convention, I'm able to track it" Said Twilight.
"What exactly is your element" Asked Velma.
"Magic." said Twilight, "It's a gem full of powerful magic and when it's joined with other elements, the power is so great and it can wipe out any evil"
"So if Tartarus got a hold of it.." began Velma.
"The Element of Magic used to be mine to wield but since it's in this dimension, the rules have changed, anybody could use it for whatever they want.
"Well assuming magic is real, and I'm not saying it is, "said Velma, "We need to find your element before someone gets hurt."
"Then let's go," Said Twilight, and they leave the library.
