The hustle and bustle in New York was purely shocking, So many people were so busy and were trying to get by with some of the citizens being very rude to one another in the deary atmosphere. Buses,cars, and even taxis zoomed by as people looked annoyed. Nothing seemed to be to special about this day in particular.
"Hey watch it!"
"Move out of the way!"
"Did you just shove me?!"
"Hmpph!"
Caitlin proceeded to walk down the busy New York Street ignoring the rude passerby's she was use to encountering all her life on the street from her work to her small loft in the city where she lived in. A cab pulled up by the curb as a friendly driver rolled his window down. His name was Dave and Caitlin knew him pretty well since they were pretty close friends.
"Need a ride?" he offered opening the car door.
"Yes please." Caitlin replied as she smiled right back at him. As he offered Dave saw the tired look in the young teenagers eyes almost sensing she had something on her mind.
"Rough day?" "I'm telling you I barely see a please or a thank you anymore. It's like everyone forgot their basic manners!"
"Tell me about it." Caitlin replied as she got into the car.
"How's school going?"
"You know the usual,"
"Got any plans for the week?"
"Studies and work like every week." She replied as she smiled morosely at her friend.
"Are you sure you can't take a break? N.C News said there's gonna be a special meteor shower. Maybe you could invite some of your other buddies, friends, Chumster's Dave said making a little cheesy joke.
"I'm way too busy for something like that,besides I have Exams in 2 weeks and I really need to crack down on studying" Caitlin said chuckling softly as she replied.
"I understand, It's just been awhile since I've seen you out having fun, sure people are rude but the cities still got that charisma! "Dave said trying to engcorage the upset adolesence as he parked right next to her house. Try not over do it on the studying. He said with a wide grin
"I'll try," Caitlin said smiling weakly back at him.
David trying to end the conversation on a more positive note decided to switch the conversation back to the meteor shower wanting to cheer her up a bit. "They said the show is gonna be a cosmic phenomenon, Want me to take some pictures for you?" The driver asked starting the car, as he got ready to leave.
"Yes Please," Caitlin said as she left the car and bid Dave farewell.
As he drove off Caitlin proceeded to climb the 5 flights of stairs to her small loft ready for the day to be over. She opened the door into her quiet bedroom and she sat down trying to get comfortable. After all it was a really busy day at school. After dealing with that and the people in the city she was tired. Everything sat inside quiet and untouched. She held her key untill she heard something. The curtains began to rustle. Caitlin hesitated slowly making her way to her curtains to see what the commotion was all about. However nothing seemed to be there. The windows swung open letting out a cold wind. She jumped forcefully due to the sudden entirety of the event and ran to shut her windows panting from when they were shut. As they continued to bang and rattle she started to thing if she was starting to lose her mind, She thought to herself as she made her way to a soft chair and sat down. Suddenly a bunch of little young whispers start coming from the closest.
"Can you see anything?"
"No I can't! Get off my head!"
"Ouch! you just stepped on my tail! Watch it!"
"Sorry!"
"Can we look at it?"
"What? Heavens NO!"
"Achoo!"
The moment Caitlin settled in she heard that exact loud sneeze. She arose from her chair both extremely curious and terrified at the same time and hesitantly made her way to the closest.
"Ut oh said one of the voices."
"What do we do now?"
"Hide!"
The mysterious voices came from a little group of 6 young ponies who were all really afraid of who or what was approaching them as they all tried to find a place to hide inside her closest by jumping into Caitlin's laundry basket and a couple empty boxes that were leftover from when she had moved in. She threw open the closest doors not knowning of what was hiding itself inside. The ponies shook in fear hoping they weren't gonna be spotted. Even little Rainbow Dashe's heart was beating while scared little FlutterShy whimpered is fear since she was scared of the dark. Twilight hid next to Pinkie, whom was trying to hold her loud sneezes in, with Applejack Holding her muzzle trying to help best she could as the purple unicorn filly started to panic, pleading and hoping Caitlin didn't spot her. She looked around the closest seeing everything intact.
"Maybe I am losing my mind. " she thought.
"Whew....." some of the ponies said sighing in relief with little Rarity wiping the sweat from her little fluffy white forehead.
"Oh thank goodness. FlutterShy said in a cute little whisper as she poked her little head out a bit early
WHO'S THERE? I"LL CALL THE COPS!" Caitlin said as she jumped at the sound of FlutterShy shouting loudly.
ACHOO! Pinkie said sneezing instantly blowing the little ponies cover startling the yellow pegasus who squeaked in a timid little "Eep!"
''Cops?! "NO NOT THAT! Whatever those are..... Miss Creature, Please don't! '' Filly Twilight said in panic as she Rainbow Dash and Applejack fell out of the laundry basket covered in multiple types of human clothes on their heads wings and stubby little bodies. Pinkie popped out of her hiding spot with a little innocent smile trying to introduce herself untill a couple of dust specks landed on he muzzle tickling her sensitive nostrils causing her to sneeze yet again!
"Hi! I'm, I'm....achoooooo!" The Pink filly said sneezing again giggling to herself.
Caitlin stumbled backwards, tripping over the back chair mumbling something about not wanting to be locked away and that she wasn't crazy. This couldn't be happening! It had to be a dream or something. People were gonna think she was freaking nuts! Or insane! What were these things? How could they talk? Hell where in God's name did they even come from and why where they in her house! So many questions were racing through her mind as the ponies all looked at her some fascinated, scared or in Twilight's case worried and curious. Compared to themselves she was massive, and walked on two legs instead of four. And could see she looked just as scared and shocked as they did. Apple Jack, the orange filly with the freckles and country accent tried to be friendly and social hoping to break the ice. Plus she was always the one in the group next to Twilight wanting to take charge especially since she was going through another panic attack. Aj blushed feeling a little bad about scaring this thing that was staring back at them. So being as brave as she could the filly merely stood up eyeing Caitlin cutely.
"Sorry Miss, We didn't mean to scare Ya."
"Oh no! This is bad! I told you all sneaking in here was a bad idea! But did you listen to me?!" "No!"
The lavender unicorn said as her eyes darted around as she tried to get herself together. Filly Twilight paced the floor a nervous wreck while freaking out holding a convient paper bag Pinkie of course somehow had stored in her mane. Because reasons.
"But Twilight, We had nowhere else to go," "Your not gonna hurt us are you?" Fluttershy said unaware of her "friend" freaking out as she stared back up at Caitlin in fear hiding in her wings shyly not knowing what to do.
Caitlin picked herself off the ground and tried to make a comprehensible thought completely stunned and shocked by what was ocuring right in front of her still trying to process the shock and comprehend everything that was just happening.
"Who are you and what are you doing in my home?" She questioned looking at all the little ponies.
"Well we uh... decided to come in, It was cold and dark. We saw the windows could open, We didn't know someone lived here miss honest!" Dash said trying to suck up best she could explaining this like it was just a normal common thing to do.
The other fillies nodded innocently agreeing with the explanation worried about what this tall creature would say or possibly do to hurt them. They were little and this was their first impression of what a human would look like and pretty much similar to a child the ponies didn't know what to do. Fluttershy merely looked up trying to sweeten the blow being her usual cute self flashing her pretty green eyes adorably.
"Please don't be mad at us." she said squeaking in fear.
"Well it's a window. Of course it opens!" Caitlin blurted louder than she meant too still trying to comprehend what was happening. The fillies were shocked by loud she was and huddled closer together as they all looked trying to explain best they could
"We just kinda arrived here in some kind of weird flashy light, It' was really hot and bright since we couldn't see where it came from, then we woke up in this square boxy thing, and then we saw a ladder and tried to climb it. We followed it up to here ." Twilight said as the rest of the girls stayed silent except for Pinkie and Dash who nodded with eager smiles.
"Hmm" Caitlin thought pondering to herself with a hand to her chin. "flashy light"
"Sorry for bothering you and invading your house Sugar Cube." "We can leave if ya''ll want us to." AppleJack suggested feeling ashamed as Pinkie and Fluttershy continued to sneeze, and look scared as they all got up expecting for Caitlin to kick them out.
"Wait a second!",..... Caitlin called out stopping all the fillies in their tracks
"Yes?" they all asked looking at her with their cute curious eyes except for Pinkie who was a bit later to the punch than the others.
"Yes....? Ah.... Ah.... choo!" the pink filly said sneezing once again.
"Little ponies like you aren't safe out here in New York, We have to find a way to get your memories back so you can go home." Caitlin said feeling rather bad for these little ponies. Sure she was a little afraid when they interrupted her peace and but something in her heart was telling herself she couldn't just cruelly abandon them. They needed some help, maybe this wouldn't be so bad. Heck one of them was sick. She couldn't flat out abandon them. That would just be cruel.
"Memories?" The girls all said tilting their heads curiously as Pinkies cough got worse as her nose looked really puffy and started to turn bright red.
"Achoo!"
"What's wrong little pink pony?" Caitlin asked sympathetically "Why are you sneezing so much?"
"Sorry it's just weally dusty in that closet, I don't feel so good because my nose twitches all the time." Pinkie said sounding really stuffy, just like how other normal human kids would sound if they had a cold.
"Well let's get out of the closet, So we can get some air and get to the bottom of this." Caitlin said helping the fillies out of her laundry basket and there hiding places giving them some space to explore and breath a little. Kinda like bringing a new puppy home for the first time, She wanted the ponies to feel comfortable around her.
"I'm sorry for all the trouble and scares we caused ya, We can head out and leave you alone if you wan't." Applejack said looking ashamed.
"Not at all little orange pony! I'd be happy to help you"! Caitlin said with a smile starting to warm up to these ponies. Fluttershy especially was just so adorable. Maybe them staying here with her temporarily wouldn't be so bad.
"How do we know we can trust you?" Dash stood protectively over her shy yellow pegasus friend feeling really skeptical this human would just wanted to help them so easily. There had to be some kind of catch right?
"Well..... I don't really think you can, but I don't really know anyone else who can help here in New York"
"But you scared Fluttershy with your yelling!" the blue pegasus filly said a little angry.
How about instead of apologizing for the past we try to find out what's going on right now?
"I agree! fighting and holding a grudge isn't gonna get us anywhere." Twilight said nodding intelligently.
Dash said still feeling skeptical with this human but had to agree that the lavender filly did have a point so she decided to let her stubborn filly pride go for a bit showing the yellow pegasus filly who continue to hide and cower in fear squeaking nervously. She was like a timid yellow mouse, easily frighten and scared by alot of things. Caitlin kneeled down to the two Pegasi trying to calm her down.
"Hey hey it's ok, I'm not mad I was just shocked that's all." Caitlin reassured Fluttershy stroking her mane.
"And you Promise you won't ever hurt us?"
'I promise." Caitlin said as the little yellow Pegasus smiled looking a little bit happier and more trusting which made Dash relax and let her guard down. Maybe this Human wouldn't be so bad. So long as Fluttershy was ok and trusted her maybe she could do the same.
"Your alright, the cyan filly commented trying to sound as cool as she could."
"What are we going to do Twilight?" Pinkie asked a curiously rubbing her nose coming out of the closet.
"Who's Twilight?" Caitlin said as the little purple Unicorn came out with a cute innocent little smile.
"I'm Twilight!" the lavender filly said with a smile untill she was interupted by another one of Pinkies sneezes
"AHHHHHCHOOO!"
"Yeesh that's a gusher!" Aj commented noticing the fillies runny muzzle
"Aww Poor Pinkie." "Fluttershy said feeling bad for her.
"Ugh blow it away from me!" Rarity said in digust walking away as her other pony peers glared at her.
"What's the matter with you?" Caitlin asked Pinkie gently sounding concern.
"I'm sorry mrs..... Pinkie paused realizing she didn't know what this person's name is
"Caitlin' she answered.
"Caitlin..... that's a pretty name!' Pinkie said with a weak but a polite happy smile as she sneezed quietly giggling to herself as she sniffled.
"Aww thanks!"Caitlin smile back in return having a question of her own. "By the way, What are all your names?"
The fillies all went in order. Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Twilight Sparkle Rarity Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy! Pinkie was interrupted by yet another sneezing fit as Caitlin tried to brainstorm and think of a way to get the girls home or their memories back untill her eyes fell on the clock as it rang 11. She stopped realizing something important.
`"Oh no, I have school tommorow." Caitlin said.
"School?!" Twilight asked as her eyes eagerly lit up in excitement and delight,
"Ut oh! Princess Egg Head is back! Hide your fun meters!" Dash said teasing Twilight's nerdy tendencies. The unicorn eyed the cyan pegasus clearly offended.
"Hey! I am not a egghead!"
"Are too." Rainbow Dash said retorting back
Caitlin giggled at the two's little joke. "Yes, and I'm not gonna do well on my exams if i don't get any sleep"
"What are exams?'' Twilight asked curiously.
"They are like really big tests that I have to pass" Caitlin answered while finding pillows and blankets for the ponies.
"You guys can rest here, for now I have got to get some sleep."
"Okay Caitlin." all the girls said acting very well behave since they could all see how tired she was. they all sat down on the floor snuggling their blankets trying to get comfy,
"Can't we go with you to school tomorrow?" Twilight asked really hoping she would say yes.
"I'm afraid not" Caitlin replied.
"Awwwwww. But why?"
"Because humans aren't used to seeing sapient ponies running around.' Caitlin answered.
Pinkie looked really sad about feeling sick as everypony snuggled in for the night sans Rarity who tried to move away from her pillow which made the little pink filly fill even sadder as Fluttershy looked at her sympathetically, Caitlyn looked at the sick filly feeling just as bad for her.
"Keep your germs away from me untill you feel better! Sorry Pinkie but I'm not taking any chances! The white unicorn said putting on a little princess sleeping masked as she inched away from the pink filly.
"Sorry you don't feel well, I would give you some medicine but I don't know if my medicine is the same as your pony medicine."
"It's ok I understand, I just wish I wasn't so sick so I could give you a big hug. Those always make me feel better." Little Pinkie Said on the verge of tears nearly breaking Caitlin's heart.
"Oh No it's Ok Pinkie, Don't be sad. You girls will find and see your families again soon. I promise. Just please don't cry and try to get some good sleep. Ok Everyone?" Caitlyn said as the rest of the ponies all snuggled, said goodnight and fell asleep minus Pinkie who had one last request.
"Can you put the light on please?"
Caitlin happily obliged as she turned on a lamp nearby her desk and went to her own room and collapsed on her bed ready to fall asleep after along interesting day. She sat wondering what other interesting things might happen now that these 6 cute colorfull magical ponies had entered her life, Little did she Know that there story was only just beginning.
