//------------------------------// // Unforeseen Shocks [Part 1 of 3] // Story: Primevals and Conduits // by KukriRyuTsukino //------------------------------// Earth 155432116       Katrina Amber Isley, or as most heroes knew her, Epsilon Sigma, had been making a name for herself recently, having put away villains such as the Hive Five, made up of the muscular Mammoth, the illusionist Shimmer who happened to be Mammoth's sister, as well as the bald dwarf genius and hacker Gizmo, magic user Jinx, and the psychotic psychic Psimon. She'd been able to drive out and discover that Queen Bee and her HIVE offshoot were, in truth, being manipulated by Brainiac within the Metropolis STAR Labs. Currently, the dark violet haired woman had her wrist mounted thermal blasters and dual pistols on her person, the former clasped around her forearms with the latter on either hip. She had a very strong reflex bow over her back, ready for use. Though she had not mentioned it to either Batman nor Robin, she had felt a very strong connection to Pamela Isley… the infamous bio-terrorist Poison Ivy. She was certain that the dark auburn-burgundy haired villainess had felt the same connection. As she knocked out Felix Faust's Magents, as well as sending various risen Mummies back to their rest, she could feel the same tingling sensation at the base of her neck, signalling that she wasn't alone. However, she was so focused, she ignored the sensation, distracting her thoughts with other things, such as what Batman had revealed to her… that she'd been, in fact, injected by no less than FOUR different Exobytes, altering her very DNA. She had been injected with genetic material from one Kara Zor El, as well as Teth Adam, Dinah Lance, and, unexpectedly, Pamela Isley. They were better known as Supergirl, Black Adam, Black Canary, and Poison Ivy. Her teeth gritted as she spotted Felix Faust and Black Adam. "Don't trust Faust, Adam. Whatever he has offered always comes with strings. Did he tell you where he originally gained his longevity?" she barked from the top of the walkway. "For Isis, I would burn the world, you plebian trash," Black Adam shouted. "She needs more of your power if she is to return from the world beyond, Black Adam," Felix Faust said with feigned humility.  With a yell of "SHAZAM!!" Black Adam sent a surge of the magical lightning from the ancient Egyptian deity Aton into the skeleton. Katrina facepalmed as Isis was resurrected… as a revenant. "You fucking idiot," she grumbled as she saw the magical force being siphoned into Faust. Her eyes narrowed as that power did not belong to him as her eyes, normally a soft aquamarine-amethyst, for just an instant, shifted to a charcoal onyx crackling with golden lightning… unaware that in that instant, her eyes and those of the weakened Teth Adam were identical as she heard Faust gloating about finally having the 'power of the sorcerer Shazam'.  "Faust… that power was channeled through Shazam, perhaps… but it wasn't his… doesn't feel like it. I should know," she said as she saw the Revenant Isis let her decaying feet touch the ground before her eyes widened slightly, noticing what Faust held in his other hand.  "It belonged to the ancient deities whom you know you hold no respect for… Shu… the God of Peace and the Wind, Horus, the God of Kingship and the Sky, Amun, the ancient Sun Disc and Amon Ra, the Sun Father, Thoth, the God of Cunning, and Mehen, the God of Protection who watched over the Sun Father each night," she barked. She saw Teth Adam's look of surprise and respect as the man struggled to his feet. "I hate to say it, Adam, but the Isis before us is little more than a puppet to Faust's desires. We must put her back to rest," she said with a grimace. "And reclaim that dagger from Faust… those hieroglyphs have Anubis' name engraved upon the blade," she finished grimly. She slid down the sandstone ramp as she spoke. Her eyebrow rose slightly as the Revenant Isis turned, hovering slightly off the ground. "ARE YOU HERE TO OFFER YOUR SOUL TO ME?!?" the Revenant demanded in a haunting voice. She wasn't surprised when Teth Adam tried to get the attention of 'Isis' only for the Revenant to telekinetically shove him back several feet. Her eyes flared with dark, corrupt energy.  Her head tilted before she vaulted back from the good twenty scarabs that broke through the dry clay soil. She knew that gaze… Faust's gaze. Each scarab was easily a foot across with their length being close to three times that. Their shells were mostly a warm dull emerald. Her eyes narrowed as she took a deep breath before her eyes glowed amber-scarlet for a moment. When she exhaled, the blast of air manifested as a supersonic shockwave that blew back the scarabs. She froze for a second, startled, before leaping back with inhuman speed and power,  easily clearing two-thirds of the sandstone ramp whilst evading the sorcerous blast from Isis' Revenant. She began firing swiftly, her thermal blasters doing very little outward damage shy of burning away the outer covering of wrappings to reveal Isis in her ceremonial Khandaqi garb which, to her, had very Egyptian roots, although that was understandable as Khandaq was an offshoot of what had been Ancient Egypt. She drew her dual pistols, thankful they didn't employ traditional bullets, but closer to a form of ultraviolet radiation in the form of densely formed laser bullets. That, to her interest, was proving effective. She noticed the pained look on Teth Adam's face though whether or not it was from seeing his wife like this or the fact that she was effectively being hurt, she couldn't tell.  She focused as a surge of thorny vines shot through the dusty clay, managing to restrain the Revenant for only a few seconds before she ripped them apart before summoning more Revenants in the form of numerous mummies. She was mildly startled as a pale golden topaz blast of energy blew apart two of the mummies.  "Mummies… why'd it have to be mummies?" a dry voice deadpanned. The speaker was a white haired, chocolate skinned male. He began hurling sorcerous blasts at the mummies in rapid succession even as her high energy plasma bullets ignited them. "Hey, you could have shown up earlier... you know like when I was stomping Faust's Magents into the ground?" she commented dryly even as she shivered as she felt the healing energy rush through her body.
