//------------------------------// // Chapter 1 // Story: Eveline in Equestria // by Northguard //------------------------------// Everything was dark, cold and lonely at first. Eveline couldn't see, hear, smell or feel anything. Then it happened. Light gently pierced through her closed eyes, wind brushed against her face and grass tickled her nose. She slowly opened her eyes and lifted her head to see a beautiful flower filled meadow, a long mountain range on the horizon and a clear cloudless blue sky. She tried to stand, but something was wrong as she ended up falling. She looked at herself to see that she was no longer human, but a pony. Her eyes grew wide as she looked over herself. She had light grey fur, black hair and a mark of some kind on her flank. A smile crept over the filly's face as she came as a realization came over her. There was no Ethan, no scientist trying to contain her and no E-Necrotoxin. She was free and most of all, she was alive. After an indefinite time of learning how to use her new body she could no longer contain her happiness and she began jumping around while shouting in pure joy. "I'm free, I'm free, I'm free!!!" she shouted as she bounced around the area before she came to a small hill where she stopped as she spotted something at the bottom. She saw a small town at the bottom that she felt literally radiating happiness and love when she got closer. When she walked into the town, she was greeted by ponies that walked past her. "Hello there little filly. Why are you not at school?" a male pony asked when she walked past him. Eveline stopped and turned to face him. "There's a school here? Where?!" she said as she began bouncing with excitement. The stallion chuckled as he thought she was just joking with him, but he decided to go along with it. "Go straight ahead that way." he said and pointed. "Then take one left, then the second right. After that you should be able to see the school." "Thanks mister!" Eveline said before running in the directions he gave. Just a few minutes later she stopped outside a pinkish red building that was decorated with heart shapes all over. She slowly stepped up to the door and then gave it three careful knocks. "COME IN!!!" a chorus of voices came from the other side and the door was opened by a grey tinted white pegasus colt. Who moved aside to let her in. "Hello. Is this the school?" Eveline asked as she stepped inside. "Why yes. What brings you here?" a pink earth pony mare (most likely the teacher) said as she came up to her. Eveline thought for a short while as she considered what she should say. She went with telling the truth but leaving the violent parts out of it. "I'm new in this town and was told to go here." she explained. The teacher raised an eyebrow and she got a curious look. "Where are your parents?" she asked. "Um...I don't have any parents. I've been alone my entire life." Eveline explained. The teacher's expression went from curious to panicked in a matter of seconds after hearing Eveline's explanation. "Oh, my goodness! Don't you have anyone to look after you?!" she asked in a worried tone, almost motherly. "I did live with another family for three years, but the parents died, and the two others weren't responsible enough to take care of me." Eveline said while observing the teacher's almost motherly nature. "Oh, sweet Celestia. Uhh...You can borrow the desk next to Apple Bloom here and I'll help you after class. Okay?" she said as she rubbed her head deep in thought. "Okay!" Eveline said before walking over to the open desk and sitting down. "Okay class, as you have all seen we have a new student here." the teacher said as she looked towards Eveline. "Now why don't you introduce yourself?" she finished. Eveline shot a quick glance around before she stood up and began her introduction. "My name is Eveline and I'm an orphan. I've never known my parents as I grew up in a laboratory. A family later took me in for three years before the parents sadly died. Their two children are still alive, but they couldn't take care of me, so I had to leave. A few weeks later I came here." she explained as she shot one more glance around the room before she sat down again. "It's nice to meet you Eveline. I'm Cheerilee and we welcome you to Ponyville with open hooves." the now identified teacher said before she went back to the lecture. When lunch break came not long after Cheerilee called Eveline to come up to her. "I've decided that we should look for a family that can adopt you after school, but from what I know there aren't that many couples that-GAH!" Cheerilee said when she suddenly felt Eveline hugging her. "I don't want them. You can be my mommy." she said while looking up at the speechless teacher with wide hopeful eyes. Cheerilee's brain entered an emergency restart sequence as she tried to comprehend what was happening. "B-but I...I can't be the right mother for you! I'm just a teacher. Surely there are someone else that can-" "NO! I want you! Can please be my mother?" Eveline interrupted as she tightened her hug and pressed her face into Cheerilee's fur. Cheerilee's eyes began to water as a warm smile began to form on her muzzle. Had her chance finally come? This was too good to be true for her, but she was not rejecting the chance to finally have a child of her own. "Yes. I will be your mother Eveline." Cheerilee said as tears of joy began to flow down her cheeks. "YAY!" Eveline exclaimed as she released the hug and bounced around the room in happiness. Cheerilee wiped the tears out of her eyes as she sat down and opened her hooves when Eveline ran up to her and the two gave each other a big hug. "Thank you." Cheerliee whispered into Eveline's ear.
