//------------------------------// // Master Scorpan // Story: Yu-EQ-Gi-oh:Linked Paradox // by Quillion9000 //------------------------------// Old Duel Sanctuary: Days Later, Evening… Shadow and Flash had been on the road for a few days with stops along the way for fueling, rest, or to use the bathroom. Their last stop had been in Heartland City, and while Flash would have loved to see where Yuma Tsukumo and Kite Tenjo lived, he was on a mission. The pair left the city and eventually parked near a long set of stairs which were cracked with grass poking through. This seemed odd to Flash, but Shadow hadn’t commented on it as he started to climb the stairs. Flash joined him while wondering who taught his father how to duel. Naturally, Flash had asked his father, but every time Magnus would respond by telling him he’d find out one day. Eventually, he just stopped asking. After a lot of climbing, the pair finally made it to the top with Flash falling to his hands and knees. “So, you finally made it Shadow Lock.” Flash heard an old man’s voice. “I was wondering how many of you would be left. This must be Magnus’ oldest. I’m not impressed if he can’t make the simple walk up here.” Flash looked up to find a rath muscular old man with brown skin, a full white mane, and black irises. He wore a long-sleeved black with white trim shirt, brown with silver accented pants, and red shoes. “I know he isn’t giving the best impression Master Scorpan, but you must understand he is just a child.” Shadow stated. “He has not…” “There will be no excuses.” Scorpan interrupted. “Magnus was in much better shape when he was his age and seemed far more impressive to boot. Do you honestly expect me to waste my time with him?” Flash didn’t like Scorpan’s words, but it’s not like he could rebuke them. Right now, he wasn’t going to be prideful when he needed this training. Flash walked over to Scorpan and got on his hands and knees. “Master Scorpan, please do not turn me away. I know I lack much, but I’m willing to learn. Just give me a chance.” “A chance you say?” Scorpan thought about it. “There is one test I can give, but if you muck it up, I will not train you. Understand? This is your one chance.” “I understand.” Flash stated. “Very well.” Scorpan stated. “You will follow me while Shadow remains out here.” The old man walked towards the sanctuary. “I will not allow you to have outside help.” “Alright, I’ll be here.” Shadow stated. Flash nodded before running after Scorpan. Inside the Decaying Sanctuary Flash followed Scorpan as they walked through run down halls. The walls, ceiling, and floor were all cracked yet surprisingly clean. Still, Flash wouldn’t want to live here, but he wasn’t about to say anything to the man he wanted training from. “The test you are about to undertake was something Yuma Tsukumo did long, long ago.” Scorpan stated. “The difference between you and him is that I am looking for something in you. Something that proves you are worthy of my training.” Flash recoiled as Scorpan glared at him. “This boy…I can tell he wants to be great, yet true confidence is something he lacks.” He pressed on. “The Duel Sanctuary was a place of knowledge. Many incredible duelists mastered their craft here. Unfortunately, as time goes on, a place like this becomes harder and harder to maintain. Especially with the changing tides of duel monsters. Every student I have taken learns to duel in a place more fitting to this age. You will only see it if I deem you worthy.” Scorpan led Flash into a rather large room that was rather barren; however, there seemed to be spaces sectioned out where something had once gone. The only thing this room contained were two podiums with rather large decks on them. Flash could feel a raw, untapped energy in the air. “W-what is this place?” “This is where you will be tested.” Scorpan nodded. “Stand over there and face me.” Flash did as he was told and came to face the master. (Flash 4000/Scorpan 4000) “Your father never believed in magic, but it’s always been deeply ingrained in the game of duel monsters.” A white light glowed on Flash’s field as wooden carvings of Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl appeared. “Duelist who could harness the magic became powerful in their own right; however, just because you have magic, it doesn’t make you infallible.” Dark light glowed on Scorpan’s field as wooden carvings of Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Red-Eyes Black Dragon appeared. “In addition, there are duelist who have the power to beat those with magic yet never have it themselves. Now, look at these carvings on the field. Currently, they cannot move, change battle position, and have 0 ATK. What you need to do is unlock their power.” “What?” Flash was wide eyed. “How do I achieve that?” “Figure it out boy.” Scorpan stated. “Making them move is only the first step, but if you truly have any potential, it’s a first step you need to take.” “Alright, think Flash. Monster’s that cannot move, change battle position, and have 0 ATK. That sounds like they are under a card effect, but my opponent hasn’t played anything.” Flash stared at the field. “Wait, I’ve seen a bit of this magic, and magic was what brought them to the field. If what he says about duel monsters being linked to magic is true, my deck must hold the key to awakening them. I just need to get such a card in my opening hand.” Flash drew his starting hand, but it felt rather clunky since he was holding carvings. “Alright, get ready because I’m here to prove myself.” Flash declared. “I activate Thousand Knives. You said what my monsters couldn’t do, but you never listed other card effects as a no go. That is why my Dark Magician will use his knives to destroy Red-Eyes B. Dragon.” Dark Magician didn’t move, but wooden knives appeared before destroying the statue. Scorpan scoffed. “Is that all you got?” “Well, no.” Flash thought it’d been a good move. “I also drew the equip spell Zoned Movement. I can equip this card to any one monster on my field and negate the negative effects on them. In addition, if that monster is used to summon another, the new monster is equipped with this card. I know this monster may have been Yugi Muto’s, but I’ve known it as the ace of my friend, Twilight Sparkle. That’s who’s in my thoughts as I set him free from his imprisonment. Be free Dark Magician(LV 7/2500/2000 effect). “Interesting.” Scorpan crossed his arms. “Let’s see what you will do now.” “I’ll summon Strength of Prophecy(LV 4/0/0).” A statue carving of a woman spellcaster appeared. “While she is bound like the rest, I need her ability to raise the level of a spellcaster and their ATK by 500. I target Dark Magician Girl(LV 7/500/0 effect).” “Hm, two level 7 monsters.” Scorpan stated. “Color me impressed for the first time since I saw you.” “Just wait because everything is coming together.” Flash stated. “I’m overlaying Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl to Xyz Summon Hierophant of Prophecy(R 7/O 2/2800/2600 effect).” A man adorned in fancy wear and wielding a staff appeared. “Thanks to Zoned Movement, he can attack. Hierophant strike down Blue-Eyes with Prophetic Blast!” The monster spun his staff creating a seal of light in the air before it launched at Blue-Eyes, decimating it (Flash 4000/Scorpan 1200). “I end my turn.” “He can duel with confidence, but there’s always an underlying sense of unease. He may be worth teaching, but he has a long way to go.” Scorpan drew. “I activate Card Destruction. We now discard and draw until we hold a hand equal to the number discarded. I then activate my Statue Zone field spell.” Scorpan stated. “This field spell removes the seal on all statue monsters.” The area became a purple mist as red particles came off Strength of Prophecy(LV 4/1500/1400) causing him to become like a normal monster. “Now, I activate Dragon’s Mirror which allows me to use monsters in my grave or field to fusion summon. I’m combing the Blue-Eyes White Dragon you sent to my grave with the other two I discard thanks to Card of Destruction.” “That’s not good.” Flash stated. “How right you are.” Scorpan declared. “Three dragons with eyes of blue combine into a power beyond that of the Ultimate Dragon. Fusion Summon Neo-Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon(LV 12/4500/3800).” A colossal, three headed dragon with blue eyes appeared. Flash stared up at the monster in awe. “Neo Ultimate Dragon.” “You still have a lot to learn.” Scorpan stated. “On that note, you moved a monster, but you’re far too concerned with your own feelings to take theirs into account. As such, you have failed to truly move a monster.” Flash was confused. “I don’t get it.” “What you lack is perspective.” Scorpan stated. “Allow me to enlighten you.” Flash started to feel rather funny. Eventually, he found that he was starting down Neo-Blues Ultimate Dragon. The dragon roared and Flash looked at himself only to find he was Hierophant of Prophecy. “No way!” Flash looked back to see that he was a wood carving. “This is freaking me out!” “You’re focusing on the wrong things kid.” Scorpan stated firmly. “Neo-Blue Eyes Ultimate White Dragon, wipe out Strength of Prophecy with Neo Neutron Blast!” The dragons fired three white beams at Strength, and as the beams washed over the monster, Flash observed them scream. “Strength!” (Flash 1000/Scorpan 1200) “Since Ultimate Dragon is the only face-up monster I control, I can send any Blue-Eyes Fusion monster from my extra deck to the grave to allow my dragon to attack again. I’ll send the original ultimate dragon to gear him up for another blast leveled at you.” “What?” Flash floated back a bit. “Please, don’t do it!” “That’s where your problem lies.” Scorpan stated getting his attention. “When you learn how powerful your opponent is, you tremble in fear. That alone is not a bad thing because it’s something that even our monsters do. They are forced to confront their fears every time they are summoned. The difference between you and them is the fact that they have the courage to confront their fear head on. Now, feel their fear! Neo-Ultimate, wipe Hierophant off the field with Neo Neutron Blast!” The attack washed over Hierophant leaving Flash as the only one being attacked (Flash 0/Scorpan 1200). The younger duelists came crashing to the ground. Scorpan approached him as he recovered. “So, did you feel it? The fear a monster must wrestle with every time you summon it to battle in your name?” Flash said nothing as he looked at the ground. “You must first tame your fear. Master it. Only then will you truly move a monster. In other words, grow a backbone boy. Yuma Tsukumo and every duelist before him had serious back bone. Confidence can be a powerful weapon, but without true confidence, your deck will betray you.” “I never knew how much my monsters and I had in common.” Flash clenched his fist. “In the end, I let them down.” He shook his head. “I don’t want to fail my monsters again.” Flash and Scorpan both noticed cool blue and fiery red lights coming from Flash’s pocket. He reached in and pulled out the blank deck. As he touched it, the energies became a brilliant white as every card filled out with a monster. Once the light subsided, Flash saw he had a deck. “What is this?” Flash asked. “Is this in response to what Stygian mentioned before?” Scorpan was no stranger to magic and duel energy. “That deck answered your change.” Flash looked at the older man. “When we are at our lowest, we are open to the greatest change. What you experienced was that change, and your deck answered in kind.” “My deck…The one my parents left me.” Flash looked at the cards. “The monsters in these cards decided to put their trust in me. With what Scorpan’s showed me, I won’t let them down. I’ll become a duelist worthy to wield them. Worthy of their trust.” Scorpan started walking towards the exit. “You’ll have plenty of time to master your new deck while training under me. For now, let us return to Shadow.” “Wait, are you saying I passed?” Flash stood. “I didn’t win.” Scorpan stopped but didn’t look back at him. “You have far too much to learn, foolish child. I never once said you had to beat me to pass.” He started walking again. “Now, come along before I change my mind.” Flash followed him as he did not want Scorpan to drop him. Outside, Evening… Scorpan and Flash exited the sanctuary to find Shadow leaning against a nearby tree, going over his deck. When he saw Flash, Shadow came right over hoping for good news. “So, how did it go?” “The boy has potential, even if he just barely got me to see it, so I will take you both on as students.” Scorpan nodded. “That said, I have three rules you two must follow, or I will punish you with physical exercise until you drop. One, you do what I say with no complaints nor questions. Two, you never tell me you can’t do something as I will not hear of it. Three, you must commit 1000% to my training. You two commit fully, and by the time we are done, I may just have been glad to be your mentor.” “We will follow your rules.” Flash/Shadow chimed. “Alright, before we go any further, you will tell me what your goals are.” Scorpan stated. “Shadow, you will go first followed by Flash.” “My goal.” Shadow stated. “I’ve thought about it and concluded that I will pick up where Shining left off with the police force. Currently, he’s the most qualified to ascend to the role of Phenomenon. That’s why I’ll become a member of the police force and ascend to captain.” “I see.” Scorpan looked at Flash. “You’re up.” “A lot has gone wrong recently, and I’m out to fix it.” Flash stated. “In order to fix the wrongs, I need the skills of what my dream was. I need to become the best duelist. That’s why I will become the next Phenomenon.” “The next Phenomenon, huh?” Scorpan scoffed. “You do realize you’ll need to master practically all forms of dueling, right?” “I’m aware, but I’m willing to put in the work.” Flash stated. Scorpan chuckled. “We’ll see how you feel once training begins. Be prepared kid because I’m not going to take it easy on you. If you do become the next Phenomenon, I will not have you standing as a weak symbol. Am I clear?” “Crystal, sir.” Flash stated without hesitation. “Please, give me the training I need.” Scorpan stared at Flash for a good few minutes before reaching into his pocket and pulling out a slip of paper. The Neo Sanctuary is at the location provided. Take the night to relax, report there in the morning, and I’ll give you a tour. You two will then settle in before training the next day.” Without another word, Scorpan left. “I never realized just how tough Scorpan could be.” Shadow shook his head. “No wonder Magnus became the duelist he was.” “Scorpan is tough, but I think he knows what he’s doing.” Flash nodded. “Anyways, where are we sleeping?” “This old sanctuary may look like it’s falling apart, but nothing’s going to come crashing down.” Shadow stated. “I suggest we make camp here since we’ll need to be up early tomorrow to make it to the Neo Sanctuary.” “Sounds fine to me.” Flash stated. Neo Sanctuary: Next Day, Afternoon… Shadow and Flash had arrived at the location they’d been given only to find even more stairs. Once up there, they were met by Scorpan who toured them around. This sanctuary was massive. Plenty of places to duel, work out, and a track meant for duel runners. The sanctuary building was easily big enough to accommodate Scorpan and 15 students easy. As Shadow had explained to Flash, Scorpan didn’t take on vast amounts of students. He was a man that valued quality over quantity. The group ended their tour before a set of double doors as Scorpan turned towards them. “This room is the largest of the entire sanctuary as this is where the marks of all the past students, dating well before Yuma, are placed.” Scorpan opened the doors and they stepped in to see statue upon statue of famous duel monsters ranging from Yugi’s time all the way to Yuma’s. They were everywhere and even had multiple floors dedicated to them. “Each statue is of a duel monster chosen by a student and carved by the master.” Scorpan stated. “If you two manage to survive my training, it will be my honor to make statues for you.” He then walked towards the doors, leaving the pair to stare at the room in wonder. “Dark Magician, Elemental Hero Neos, Stardust Dragon, and Number 39: Utopia.” Flash zeroed in on four monster which were arranged on the right before looking to the left. “Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Armed Dragon Level 7, Red Dragon Archfiend, and Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon. The monsters of the best and their rivals.” His gaze shifted to countless other monster around the room. “Someday, I will reach their level. That’s what I vow as we stand here gazing at all these monsters of legend.” “I know you will achieve that bud.” Shadow was glad to see that Flash back to his usual self. “Come on, we should get settled into our rooms.” He put an arm around his nephew. “Don’t want Master Scorpan yelling at us for lounging about.” Flash nodded. “Yeah.” Neo Sanctuary: Garage, 2 Years Later… Flash had grown well in the past two years as his body better developed, and he gained some height. He now wore a pair of jeans, a white shirt with his blue shield on the front, and an open, black leather jacket. The now teen was currently checking over his duel runner. Using everything dad taught him, along with some trial and error, he had a ride he was proud to call his own. It was a streamlined, dark blue duel runner with black ascents. He took a bit of inspiration from Crow Hogan and decided to add some wings as well. You never knew when the ability to glide would come in handy. Not to mention, it allowed him to come up with what he thought was an appropriate name given everything he’s been through. He started on a high note, fell hard, and was working his way to greater heights. In Flash’s mind, he wanted his runner’s name to reflect that, so he dubbed it Blue Phoenix. He thought it represented him well, and you never heard legends about a blue phoenix. Most would call that an impossibility, like Flash’s own dream. While this ride wasn’t a real phoenix, it was now a blue phoenix that existed. This meant the impossible was possible if you thought outside the box. By this runner’s existence, it meant that his seemingly impossible dream could come true. Flash finished checking over his runner with a smile. “Looks like I’m ready to go.” He grabbed a nearby blue helmet and threw it on before speeding out atop his ride. “Any later and I’d be late for my duel with Shadow.” Observation Box Scorpan led Celestia into a box, with comfortable seating, which had a view of the track. Currently, Shadow was down there with a streamlined, red duel runner with black accents. Neither student had any idea that their duel would be watched. “I must say, you do a wonderful job keeping this complex running after all this time.” Celestia stated. “If this is where Magnus trained, I can see why he was such a powerful duelist.” “As someone who has and continues to keep up with all forms of dueling, these grounds are a natural result. When I set out to train students, I put my all into helping them reach their goals.” Scorpan stated. “You know Scorpan, this facility once trained the greatest duel team.” Celestia stated. “Perhaps you should consider creating your own team once more.” Scorpan walked towards the window with a sad sigh. “Look at how well that worked out Celestia. They’re gone. Even Magnus, my prized student, lost to Cipher. That’s six former students just gone.” “You can’t blame yourself for that Scorpan.” Celestia walked up to him and put a hand on his back. “They made their choice to face Cipher. While they may have lost, it was the right choice. At the time, they were our best bet we had of stopping him.” Scorpan shrugged her off. “It may as well have been my fault.” “If you continue to feel this way, why did you take Flash Sentry under your wing?” Celestia questioned. “Why did you add Shadow as a student? Surely you must know what they are going to do with your training.” “I know.” Scorpan stated. “I know they are going to duel him if they can find him. Shadow has some history with me; however, I was reluctant to train Flash until I saw that look in his eyes. He is so much like his father, yet his potential exceeds his.” He shook his head. “Maybe some part of me hopes that potential will come to fruition, and he’ll beat The Cipher. Perhaps, in some ways, it’s made me attached to him.” He sighed. “I know this may not make sense to you, but it’s how I’ve come to rationalize things.” “Losing most of his students has impacted Scorpan more than I thought.” Celestia nodded. “I’m sorry things have been rough, old friend. The fact that you’ve held up this well, and still have hope, is a testament to how strong you are.” The pair saw Flash arrive on the duel field. “I believe we’ve gotten off topic.” Scorpan regained his composure. “It’s time for my student to prove why he should be scouted for your team.” Runner Field Flash pulled up alongside Shadow. The man smiled at his nephew. “I didn’t think you were ever going to show up.” “Sorry, but this will be my ride’s first duel.” Flash had been building his runner over the long run. “Had to make sure everything was ready, you know?” “I can understand that, so let’s see how well it runs.” Shadow hopped onto his runner. “Show me how much you’ve improved.” Flash smiled. “It would be my pleasure.” The pair revved up their runners before taking off. “Let’s Duel!” (Flash 4000/Shadow 4000) “I’m taking command.” Shadow declared as he sped forward. “I normal summon Mirror Resonator(LV 1/0/0).” A fiend with a demonic mirror on its back appeared. “Since I normal summoned a Resonator, I can special summon Red Warg(LV 6/700/2000 effect).” A bipedal, red wolfman appeared. “Due to the way he was summoned, his ATK is halved. Not that it matters when my resonator gives Warg a tune up to Synchro for 7. Synchro Summon Exploder Dragonwing(LV 7/2400/1600).” A black and orange bipedal dragon appeared. “Is that all you got?” Flash questioned with a smirk. “Come on, don’t hold out.” “I wasn’t planning on it.” Shadow declared. “Since a Synchro monster is on the field, I can special summon Synkron Resonator(LV 1/100/100).” A fiend with synchro green and gold metal on its back appeared. “Now Synkron will give Exploder a tune up to Synchro for 8. Red dragon of kings and powerhouse of the signer dragons; show our opponent our bond. Synchro summon Red Dragon Archfiend(LV 8/3000/2000).” A huge, red and black dragon flew down before flying with Shadow. “Now that’s what I’m talking about.” Flash stated happily. “You won’t be smiling for long.” Shadow declared. “First, Snykron Resonator was sent from the field to the grave, so I can add any resonator from my grave to my hand except Synkron. I choose Mirror Resonator. I then set one card before activating Card of Sanctity. This allows each of us to draw until we hold 6 cards in our hand. That is five for me and one for you. I’ll then end my turn, so it’s your move Flash.” Observation Box That’s quite the first turn for Shadow.” Celestia stated. “I still remember a time when he couldn’t think of competing with Magnus, but now I’m not sure how well he’d do.” “That’s because Magnus was my true student when they were a team.” Scorpan stated. “This time around, I pushed Shadow to draw out the true power of his deck.” Duel Runner Field “Since you Synchro summoned, I’ll follow suit.” Flash drew. “I summon Synchron Magician(LV 2/PS 2/700/1400).” A young boy with short white hair and white robes appeared. “If he’s used for a Synchro summon, one of the materials can come from my hand. So, Synchron Magician will give the Level 4 Wisdom-Eye Magician in hand a tune up to Synchro for 7. Blitz your opponent with gale force winds. Synchro summon Clear Wing Fast Dragon(LV 7/PS 4/2500/2000).” A white and green dragon appeared. “Should have figured he’d go with one of his Synchros first.” Shadow thought. “Now observe as I put his power to good use.” Flash continued. “Once per turn, Fast Dragon can negate the effects of one monster you control and zero out their ATK. All you have is your Red Dragon. Go, Depletion Wing!” Fast Dragon roared as he beat his wings and sent forth green wind at the opponent. Red Dragon Archfiend(LV 8/0/2000 effect) “Now Fast Dragon, attack with Rotation Sky Strike!” On Flash’s command, Fast Dragon spun and cloaked himself in green air as he rushed forward to drive himself through Red Dragon Archfiend (Flash 4000/Shadow 1500). “I’ll then set one card to end my turn.” Observation Box “Impressive.” Celestia stated. “The fact he has Pendulum monsters shows he has the potential to Pendulum summon, and he actually performed a Synchro summon.” “Flash has worked hard to the point he can Pendulum, Fusion, Synchro, and Xyz summon with that deck of his.” Scorpan informed. “Really?” Celestia was impressed. “My, his skills have grown more than I imagined.” Runner Field “With this next move, I’m not holding back.” Shadow drew. “First, I activate my face down Archfiend’s Roar. By paying 500 life points, I can special summon any 1 Archfiend I wish from my grave (Flash 4000/Shadow 1000). He will be destroyed at the end of the turn, but that’s hardly going to matter. Welcome back Red Dragon Archfiend(LV 8/3000/2000). Since I control a Dragon-Type Synchro monster with a level of at least 8, I can special summon Red Nova(LV 1/0/0).” A gray skinned, pointy eared child with red wings appeared. “Now, it’s time to put the finishing touches on my combo by normal summoning Clock Resonator(LV 3/1200/600).” A small fiend with a clock on its back appeared. “This is it!” Flash flipped his face down. “I activate Altar for Tribute. I now select one monster I control and send it to the graveyard to increase my life points by the ATK of said monster. I only control Clear Wing Fast Dragon (Flash 6500/Shadow 1000).” “That will keep you in the game, but it in no way prevents what I’m about to do.” Shadow declared. “Red Nova and Clock Resonator will double tune Red Dragon Archfiend to Synchro for 12. Calumnious monster from the depths of my Extra Deck, rise and show our ultimate power. Synchro summon Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Calamity(LV 12/4000/3500).” A colossal four-armed dragon with large wings appeared. Observation Booth “That monster is massive.” Celestia stated shocked. “To think Shadow could pull off a double tunning.” “That’s nothing compared to that monster’s effects.” Scorpan nodded. “Flash was right to activate his face down when he did.” Runner Field “When Calamity is Synchro summoned, I can keep my opponent from activating effects for the rest of the turn.” Shadow thought. “Additionally, when he destroys a monster, he can inflict damage equal to that monster’s ATK. I haven’t revealed this to Flash, yet he countered it.” Shadow couldn’t keep himself from smiling at just how far his surrogate nephew has come. Of course, this might be a different story if Flash wasn’t a big nerd on cards of the past. As things stood, the time he spent studying them was paying off. “When Calamity is Synchro summoned, you can no longer activate cards or their effects until this turn is over.” At least Shadow could block off his hand and grave plays. “Now, Calamity attack you directly with Calumnious Devastation!” Calamity held his two, smaller hands up as he created a sphere of fire over his head before launching it at Flash (Flash 2500/Shadow 1000). With that, I end my turn. Let’s see what you got to deal with this.” Observation Box “Despite managing to weather that turn, Flash is still at a disadvantage.” Celestia stated. “He is.” Scorpan smiled slightly. “Much like his father, a disadvantage is just an opportunity.” Runner Field “My move.” Flash drew. “Time to set my scales with Scale 1 Purple Poison Magician & Scale 8 Tuner Magician.” A purple robbed magician rose to the left of Flash while an orange robbed magician rose to his right. Shadow smiled. “I’m so proud of you Flash.” “Swing pendulum of my soul. Carve and arc through space and time.” Flash declared. “Pendulum summon Wisdom-Eye Magician(LV 4/1500/1500) and Black Fang Magician(LV 4/1700/800).” A black robbed magician and a white & black robbed magician appeared. “Now, I build the overlay network with my two level 4 monsters. Cloaked in shadows and relentless in his objective, descend! I Xyz summon Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon(R 4/O 2/2500/2000)!” A black dragon with purple and green accents appeared roaring. “I then activate Dark Rebellion’s effect. By detaching one overlay unit, until the end of this turn, he can cut any level 5 or higher monster’s ATK in half and gains what your monster loses. I target Calamity.” Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Calamity(LV 12/2000/3500) Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon(R 4/O 1/4500/2000) “I only need one, so let’s finish this now Dark Rebellion!” Flash called out, causing Xyz to surge with lighting. “Take down Calamity with Lightning Revolt Disobey!” Dark Rebellion flew at Calamity who tried to stop the dragon with its much larger arms; however, Dark Rebellion was much too fast at this point, and he slammed into the opposing dragon. Calamity surged with lighting before shattering (Flash 2500/Shadow 0). Shadow’s Duel Runner spluttered out while Flash drove back to his uncle. “You did good bud. Real good. Your father would be proud.” “Thanks Uncle.” Flash got off his runner and hugged him. “That means a lot.” Observation Box “That was a most impressive display.” Celestia took an envelope from her pocket. “I believe I’ve seen all I need.” She gave it to Scorpan. “Tell Flash he’s been scouted by Harmonious Element, and we’ll be expecting him in one week.”
