//------------------------------// // Deep within lies a golden light // Story: My Little Pokémon // by Amarvax //------------------------------// With her now being a fully-fledged unicorn, Adagio can now gather a ton of magic without having to worry about losing control of it all. That being said, she now had the opportunity to utilize her magic at its best. And what better place to start with than the nearest city. Goldenrod City. Currently at BIG.Co, the young ones were still having as much fun as they could in this large building. To them, it felt like the future. They had scattered all over the place, getting their hooves on all sorts of devices or even being pulled away from said devices before something bad could happen. Sunrise was doing his best to make sure that no one would notice that he's stolen something from the storage room. Especially something that was banned and thrown out. Dew Drops had found her future job as a Pokemon Teacher after being inspired by her teacher Hollow. Although, who knows if she'll get the chance once both worlds return to normal. At the moment, none of them knew that Adagio was around. In fact, most of them had no idea who Adagio was, neither did they know that she was a threat. The siren had entered BIG.Co, going undercover whilst remaining out in the open at the same time. She was cautious this time due to her worry of there being a pony who can just undo all the damage that she can cause. "Alright. If I can really maintain large amounts of magic now, then how can I start this off?" She pondered. Now that she's a unicorn, her magic choices are much more versatile with many possibilities. Currently, she was at the main entrance of the HQ. Nopony saw her as out of the ordinary. They thought she was just another pony coming to visit. Her eyes were moving about, searching for something to take advantage of. As she did that, her Kricketot spotted something of interest. A device for and about singing and music. One press of it and it can immediately scan you, replicating your favourite songs by scanning your mind. However, just like most of the inventions in here, it was a work in progress. So it wasn't quite done. But Kricketot didn't care nor did it even know. The Cricket Pokemon hopped out of Adagio's mane, landing on the table. It picked up the device, wanting it to test it out. "Hm?" Adagio turned to see Kricketot holding the music invention right in its small bug hands. "What are you up to?" "Krick!" The Cricket Pokemon activated the device as it began scanning its trainer. Once it did, the work in progress device actually managed to replicate a song that was in Adagio's memories. And just like that, it started playing a familiar tune to Adagio's ears. Oh-whoa-oh, oh-whoa-oh You didn't know that you fell Oh-whoa-oh, oh-whoa-oh Now that you're under our spell "Hm? HM?!" Adagio was shot back by hearing this. She had no idea that this device could replicate songs from memory so it freaked her out when she heard the song she and the Dazzlings once sang. "What kind of black magic is this?!" Kricketot didn't mind. It was singing along to the song, rocking its head back and forth, side to side. When its antennae hit each other, it sounds like the music of a xylophone. So it did just that in order to add a xylophone sound to the song. Kricektot was really feeling it. In fact, the memory of this song was resonating so much with Adagio that she actually felt compelled to sing along. Even, moving her hoof a little bit. But she couldn't afford to get distracted. Not by past events especially. "Just get back in my hair." Adagio picked up Kricketot who was still holding onto the device. Now she had both a Pokemon and constant music playing in her hair. Now all that was left to do was to sing some new tunes on her own, without her sisters. On the higher floor of the building, the children had come across a room where certain trainers have Psionic abilities and were wearing purple robes. These were more commonly known as the Psychic trainer class. A group of trainers that have psychokinetic powers similar to that of Psychic-Type Pokemon. The most commonly known are the Saffron City Gym Leader Sabrina and many trainers from the Anistar City Gym. Right now, they were levitating Pokeballs and other items with their mind as golden and purple auras surrounded them. But the ponies just thought that this was magic, similar to how unicorns use their horn to lift things. "Oooh. I didn't know that humans could use magic too." Sapphire Flash commented. "Oh, no. This isn't magic." A male Psychic Trainer replied, levitating a Smoochum. "It isn't?" said Sapphire. "No. This is Psychokinesis, my little pony. An ability that allows us to manipulate, control and influence matter itself. Such as this." The trainer pulled a berry from far away, levitating it and giving the berry to the Smoochum. "Smoo!" "Woah...That'd be so amazing to have Psychoki...however you say it." "You already have that kind of. See?" A young colt poked Sapphire's horn. "Oh, yeah." Sapphire nodded. "But I bet I could learn how to use Psycho-whatever it's called. I'd be the first Earth Pony to do it, maybe." He replied. "Think I could learn it?!" "Ssh! I'm trying to focus here." A female Psychic hushed the young pony. "Oh. Sorry...Still wanna learn it though." "For you to learn it, you would need a powerful bond with a Psychic-Type." The male Psychic gave him an answer. But one that was restrictive. "Aw...but I don't have any Psychic-Types. Does it just have to be Psychic-Type Pokemon only?" "Only Psychic-Types. However, if you can master your psionic prowess by training with a Psychic Pokemon, you'll be able to do the same with other types." "How long will that take?" "Most likely 4 years. At best." As the children were hanging around the Psychic area, Adagio who was at the west side of the first floor was spreading her music once more. She got up to her usual tricks of turning everyone bitter and negative, but this time with an improved state thanks to her being a unicorn now. Since she had absorbed hundreds up hundreds of magic all the way back at Lilypad and Slateport, shes' brimming with heaps of it. And now that she's become a unicorn, the overwhelming magic that would normally be too much to handle was now capable of being balanced within her. And all of this was being done without anypony suspecting anything suspicious. She was making her way to the second floor where she can continue from there. But before Adagio could progress her work, a young filly who had been separated from her parents had bumped into her. "Hm?" Adagio turned around to see a purple-skinned and white-haired unicorn next to her. From the looks of it, she seemed to be upset and afraid. Almost breaking into tears. "What do you want?" "Excuse me miss." The young pony sniffled. "But have you seen my parents? I lost them earlier." "Parents? Like I would've seen them. I don't even know what they look like. Get lost." Adagio dismissed the young filly. "B-But I'm scared. Can you please help me find them?" She went up to Adagio. Normally, Adagio would dismiss this since she doesn't have time for petty child antics. But seeing the pony upset and worried actually managed to take her back. For a small instance, she remembered a similar situation happening to her sisters. In fact, the horn on her flashed for a split second as she saw Aria and Sonata in the little pony for a bit. As a result, she felt a little bit of empathy and decided to at least help this little foal out. Adagio groaned, shaking her head. She knew she didn't have to do this, but the memories and her soft spot for anything younger than her got to her. "Fine. Come with me and stay close, alright." "Okay." She rubbed her nose, nodding in response. Adagio was leading this little pony to find her parents. If there's one place they might be, its probably with everypony else. At the second floor. Lucien and Sienna watched as they were casually standing around, examining Adagio's current actions. "So, that horn lets her become sympathetic or something?" Sienna asked. "Is that why you turned her into a unicorn?" "Hm? Nah. I'm not the one behind this actually. From the looks of it, she's learning empathy or something. I don't know. I don't understand feelings that well." "In that case, when are we going to actually start causing some events? Pretty sure even the Rift gets impatient." "We'll start when we start. We gotta do things with practicality, ya know." Lucien smirked. "I've got a bunch of ideas that I can't wait to showcase. And along the way, we might bring someone back." "What? Like one of those team bosses? You're not thinking of bringing Lysandre back are you?!" Sienna pulled back. "Are you crazy? They already have to deal with Ghetsis. Besides, the Rift actually wants this world to live and not be 'restarted' as Lysandre once called it. No, no. I'm thinking of bringing back a certain Pokemon." "What Pokemon could you possibly bring back that doesn't already exist?" "You'll see. In the meantime, let's get moving. I hear that there are some tasty scones being made at Griffonstone now." Lucien and Sienna made their leave as they left without a single trace. Adagio had finally found the little filly's parents who were on the verge of panicking until they saw their daughter right next to Adagio. "Is this your kid?" Adagio asked. "Oh! Yes! Gleam!" The mother dashed over, hugging her child. "So-So sorry that we lost sight of you!" "I-It's fine. I can't breathe, mom." Gleam responded as her mother dropped her. "Phew. Thank you so much. We would've gone insane if you hadn't shown up with her." said the Father. "Yeah, yeah whatever. Just don't lose sight of her next time, okay?" Adagio shoved him with her hoof. It seems that she's not fond of family members losing sight of each other at random. "A-Alright." He nodded, a bit intimidated by Adagio. The siren felt like she could and continue her work now that the little lost problem had been dealt with. And what better place to start with than the most occupied room she's been in so far. She began singing her a melody that did what it usually did. Green sound waves emanated the room as they were influencing everyone else. However, to Adagio's surprise. Only three weren't affected by this. The mother, the father, and the little pony Gleam she helped. What actually happened was that the moment the green waves went close to them, it actually transformed into a golden light. And this golden light managed to grant the family happiness instead. "That can't be right." Adagio's jaw dropped a bit. She thought that something had gone wrong, but as she looked across the room, she could see that everyone else was bitter so it couldn't have gone wrong. Everything was still functional like before. So she wondered why these three were affected differently. "Whatever. Don't get distracted, Adagio." She put her hoof in her face. She felt like getting out of here immediately since the positivity from the three of them was making her queasy. Next up, was the rest of the building, and then all of Goldenrod City. She continued her little music escapade by gathering all the negativity that filled the room and eventually singing more and more songs along the way. Strangely enough, the one song she kept on repeating was the same one that Kricketot was still listening to. Due to this, it was kind of stuck in Adagio's head. It would be aggravating to her, but at the moment, it was proving to suffice as a source of inspiration. As long as that thing keeps on playing, Adagio won't have to take a break and come up with a new song. Meanwhile, but not too far from here, Hollow had arrived with Jewel beside him. He was here since a few of the parents of his students wouldn't stop bombarding him with letters and requests to come and see their kids when the pony visit happens since he's their favourite teacher ever from what they are told. Unfortunately for poor Hollow, this meant that his day-off had been cancelled. But he was willing to give it a go. "Finally. We're here" He opened the doors to BIG.Co, taking a deep breath. He had to wake up earlier than usual just to keep his promise to the parents. As a result, he could fall asleep at any moment now, but Jewel was keeping him up by supporting him. "Let's just see the young ones, talk to them and then we can head home and you can rest your little head as much as you want, okay?" Jewel patted him on the back. "Sure..." Hollow sighed, walking over to a worker. "Hey. Have you seen a group of ponies here by any chance?" "Oh, yeah. They're upstairs on the second floor." He replied. "Thanks...Man, popularity in Equestria is much more extreme than popularity in our world." "I'll say." Jewel nodded. "I don't even think Champion Leon gets this same treatment. Oh well. The duality of both worlds, right?" The two made their way further into BIG.Co. As they were moving along, they noticed that everyone was starting to feel a bit on the downside lately. Mostly giving each other the stink-eye. "My. Tensions must be high today." Adagio had come across the two of them, making them their next targets. Hollow noticed that Adagio had a slightly different appearance from everypony else. Due to her being a siren by birth and origin, her fangs were showing and she had some small scales and fins here and there but they weren't too visible. "Oh, check out that pony." Hollow pointed at Adagio. "Those are the sharpest teeth I've seen on one so far." "I'm not a pony, you mook," Adagio replied. "Well, you certainly look like a slightly altered version of one, don't you?" Jewel laughed. "Haha..." Adagio mocked her laugh. "I'm a siren, thank you very much. Once I'm back to normal, I can't wait to get out of this pony form." "A siren...?" Hollow thought for a second. "Oh, like Primarina!" "No, dear. Primarina's a mermaid. I'm pretty sure from what I've heard, sirens are different. But I don't know much about them except that they look like mermaids." "You know what mermaid is yet you don't know what a siren is? Mermaids are just laid-back and stale versions of us anyways." Adagio scoffed. "Well...what is a siren actually?" "If you must know, sirens are beautiful, enchanting creatures, such as myself that are capable of singing perfect melodies and songs with their flawless voice." Adagio was just stroking her own ego now and to an extent, every other siren out there. "We're kind of the best singers ever." "Oooh, a species all about singing? That sounds amazing! Do you perhaps sing to the entire ocean occasionally? Like your own form a concert?" "SIng to the entire ocean? Are you crazy? We only sing to live, obviously." "To live?" Both Hollow and Jewel said. "Yeah. To live. And get stronger. We enchant others with our singing, putting them under a spell. This enchanting spell allows us to feed off their negativity in order to gain both power and energy. Just like what I'm about to do to you two next." Adagio smirked. "You can't live without singing?" Hollow yawned. "That's kind of a bummer." He was starting to fall asleep every so slowly. "Not like that. Singing is the main reason why we continue to get stronger. If we can't sing to anyone and feed off them then what's the point." Hearing that made Hollow and Jewel realize she actually meant that they could still live normally but not being able to feed off anyone is their version of a downer. "That doesn't all that great. Why would you wanna do that?" "You think we don't have a choice? Not only will there be no point if we don't feed off negativity, but even our entire race will struggle." Now it actually was about living. "My sisters are the only sirens left, and we sing in order to keep on living. And I don't know how but by some random chance, we lost our voices. Thankfully, being the skilled siren that I am, I managed to regain my singing because I am that talented above the rest." In reality, it was the jar that helped her get her singing back. Hollow and Jewel came to the conclusion that Adagio is an odd one. Despite all she's said about the sirens and how they actually struggle and how singing is what they must do since it's their only way of living on gave them the impression that it was not easy being a siren. Especially since there are only three left. But besides all that, Adagio only seems to care about herself. She didn't even show any signs of sadness when she mentioned the demise of the sirens. If anything she only cared about the important details where she got her voice back and how amazing she is. "Oh. So how does it even work?" Hollow asked. "Watch and learn." Adagio targeted the two, singing that same song that wouldn't leave her head. However, just like the family from before, once the green waves connected with Hollow and Jewel, it transformed into that golden light that spreads happiness once more. Jewel could feel so much joy from it and Hollow was even starting to gain energy back, no longer feeling tired. "Oh...that's pretty neat actually." He stretched his arms. "Are you sure its meant to make us feel down? Cause I feel great!" Hollow pumped his arms as he was fully awake. "I feel replenished actually! Thank you very much!" Jewel thanked her. "W-What? How come it didn't affect you two either?" Adagio backed up slowly. "Are there exceptions or something?" "Your singing is very beautiful as well. You should start a band, you know," said Jewel. "I don't need your thanks and appreciation! Why didn't it work on you?!" "I don't know. But it sure beats having to go back to bed." Hollow laughed. "It's been a fun little talk about...sirens and their demise and evil singing...but I've gotta get going. Got a lot of promises to fill and I don't want to be steamrolled by a bunch of angry parents. Buh-Bye." Hollow waved goodbye as he and Jewel took their leave, feeling energized. Adagio was still perplexed. The third time in a row, her negativity has been cancelled out. The first time, it was by Nurse Joy and her Blissey. The second time it was by Pinkie Pie. And the third time, it was her own magic that caused happiness. She had no idea what to make of it. Despite her intense and unyielding stubbornness, Adagio actually felt like she was getting defeated left and right without even being hit an attack. It was the pure influence of others that was defeating her. And now, she had just realized that she now wields the power to make others happy. At least, a specific group of people. "I don't get it... I can have as much power as I want...but even still. Something always backfires." Adagio sat down, slamming the floor with her hoof. Even with the negativity from everyone else flowing into her, she couldn't get those thoughts out of her head. "Why can't I properly win?!" Adagio was reaching the point of frustration. Everything she does always manages to get turned around on her in one way or another. "What am I doing wrong?" "Krick?" Kricketot hopped out of Adagio's hair, looking up at her. Kricketot didn't want to see its trainer upset and down, so to cheer her up, it once again gave her a berry. "Kricketot!" And this time, Adagio was actually hungry. Starving even. You can't fill your stomach by feeding on magic, unfortunately. Though there is most likely a universe and world where that's possible. "...Fine..give me the stupid berry." Adagio sighed, holding her hoof out. "Kri!" Instead of putting it on her hoof, Kricketot jumped up and shoved the berry inside of Adagio's mouth. "Mmrpgh?!" Adagio was surprised at what just happened. But that didn't matter anymore. Once she tasted the berry, all of her worries were calmed down suddenly. The taste of it was that good. She seemed to be a fan of Grepa berries now. "That's actually pretty good." Adagio nodded, savouring the taste of the berry. "Kricketot!" The Cricket Pokemon was glad that Adagio's spirits were being lifted once more. As a result, this positivity between the two was actually causing Adagio's horn to radiate on its own. That same golden light surrounded the two, emanating a beautiful shiny gold aura that was already making Kricketot joyful. As for Adagio, she was being influenced by her own light, but she quickly snapped out of it. "Alright. That's enough." The golden light faded from her as it returned to its natural green. "Let's get moving you. There's one final place to go. Unova. That's where Twilight Sparkle is currently. And this time...I'll make sure to unleash everything on her." Now it was time for the main focus and the reasoning for her motivations. Heading straight to Twilight was her be all end all. And now that she's a true unicorn with heaps of magic brimming within her, she now believes that Twilight doesn't stand a chance with her magic of friendship. Adagio's final attack begins now. Chapter 149 End!
