Chapter 1

Hey every pony! As you may or may not know, recently, I've been hearing about all these fanfiction stories. I've been curious about writing one myself, and with my personal experience with all my friends, I'm sure I can get a good story down. I've also got Spike here to advise me, since my writing can get a bit rambling some times.

*ahem* Alright, so, let's see. Parchment, check. Ink, check. Quills, check. Good lighting, check. Checklist, check.

Spike glances at me frowning.

Oh, Spike, don't look at me like that. You know I need all my materials to write a proper story. Now then, where to begin? What do ponies like these days? I know Rainbow Dash loves the Daring Do stories, maybe I could do something like that?

Tilts my head in thought

Mmmm... I guess I didn't really participate well enough in the treasure adventures. But there's an idea. Let's write that down. What next? Romance, Spike? Well, that's a sweet thought. Unfortunately, I don't personally I feel like I have too much to work with on that... okay, Spike, blushes that's in the mirror world, and that was only a few moments. I don't like him, well not like that. We're getting off topic. I know, how about a mystery! Pinkie always loves a good mystery. Let's try that.

The hallways were dark with a shadow creeping around the corner. As Rarity slept soundly in her room, she barely noticed as the figure snatched her precious diamond! Who could it possibly be? Perhaps it was Spike, wishing for a midnight snack--

Spike crosses his arms at me as my quill stops.

Okay, okay, you're not the crime doer. I'll probably have to be more creative than that. It's a bit on the predictable side, anyways.

But it was most likely some pony else, some pony who knew the security thoroughly enough to steal from her, and desperate enough to do such an act.

Hmmm, I'm a bit stuck. I guess starting from the crime itself might be too tricky. There's usually a background to these stories, right? I need some foreshadowing. Let's try this...

Days ago, Rarity had passed by a particularly poor section of the city of

...err.... let's say...

Yakyakistan.

Spike rolls his eyes

Okay, you're right. It'd probably better to have a fictional place. The more I think about this, the more ideas I'm getting though. My favorite stories were about Starswirl the bearded. Maybe some more magic kind of location could be fine.

"Yeah! That's it!" Spike said, finally approving, "Dungeons and Discords is one of my favorite games and settings!"

My eyes light up in excitement as I begin to write.

It had been in the city of Fantasia, where Rarity was frequenting one of her customers there. "Oh, dear," she said, noticing his poor state, "your clothes are ruined! What have you been doing these past days?"

The roughed up stallion coughed as he shook his head. "I don't really want to talk about it. There's been some trouble nearby. Rumors say that the creatures from the forests are creeping in, and I had an unfortunate run-in trying to investigate the situation."

"Oh, like the Manticores? Or maybe something more exciting and dangerous!" Spike stated, getting excited.

Hmm... more dangerous than a manticore? Narrows brows I think I know something along the lines of that.

"The shadows of the darkness are growing closer and closer... and we haven't any idea where the origin is!" The stallion continued, slamming his hoof on the table.

"Oh, don't be too rowdy now dearie," Rarity reassured, double checking his cloak, "I think I've got a good improvement to these clothes. I heard adventurers nowadays often go out with crystals on their neck so to light the way; they're quite good at decorating and absorbing light you know."

The stallion nodded in response. "I'll pay you when you find the crystals then," he spoke, then left reluctantly, still slightly wincing from the injury he got when running out of the forest.

Phew. That's quite the beginning to the story, isn't it Spike? I think I've written enough of the story for one day. Don't wanna use up all of my ideas for the plot!

"Well, I am relieved that you didn't stay up all night writing, but I'm surprised that you're stopping here," Spike noted, thinking about how she usually studied beyond her need of sleep.

Oh, I'm not done with writing, Spike! That's just the plot itself. I need to write all the lore down before I forget it! And maybe some original characters to spice things up.

Spike groans in response. "Ugh... I knew things weren't going to be this easy. Well, you seem to be doing pretty well so far, so I hope you don't mind if I go to sleep..."

He was already laying in bed, beginning to snore while I rolled my eyes. Well, it was time to get to work on the way the world worked. I thought for quite some time to link the ideas together. There had to be some sense of logic. Perhaps some crystals' protection could work the same way the Elements of Harmony did! And of course, I wanted some kind of important friendship lesson. You can't go without those, as the princess of friendship!

I continued writing on and on, almost feverishly, with fantastic ideas coming to mind, involving all the rest of my friends in the plot.

Fluttershy was the Tamer of Dragons, the Keeper of the Dungeon. She instructed young mares and colts to combat against animals without using violence, and though she had a seemingly timid personality, her authority over all species made her a pony dangerous to contend with.

Rainbow Dash was a bard with mastery over the weather, able to summon thunderclouds and dissipate rain with ease. Her ability with the lute also astonished audiences, able to boost her speed faster than anyone could see. She even had a famous tune, "As Inspiring as I Wish to Be".

Pinkie Pie was an entertainer and a jack-of-all-trades. Though on the surface she seemed most unfit to adventure, she was actually one of the most capable, with her quick thinking and adaptability to all situations. Some thought she may have secretly trained in the art of the rogue, and kept it a secret to hide from those who hunt her.

Ahhh, if only I could invent a spell to get me into this world... I daydreamed, dizzy from exhaustion. As I brought out the spell book, muttering nonsense and piecing together words thoughtlessly, I finally collapsed, head on the desk.

I awoke to find the sunlight greeting me. "Ah-- wha--" I sputtered, my mane still messy from yesterday, bedhead unorganized. That's right, I was writing my story yesterday... but wait, did I sleepwalk somewhere? I shook my head in disbelief. I was sitting on a bench, with my surroundings completely unrecognizable. No way... as I strutted around, observing the world around me, I felt a sense of deja vu and terror. Oh no.

I somehow invented a spell to teleport myself to my own world... and I didn't know how to get back. "NOOOOOO!!!"
