The group walked for many days, but finally made it to Snowbelle City. The hardest obstacle was the Ice Mountain they had to travel through. The icy cold and winds were hard for Sunlight to endure and he was drowsy most of the time. Now, the heroes were taking a hot cocoa at the local Pokemon Center.
“I am not going through these mountains again, said Sunlight. No, Nada...I almost died many times, and not only from hypothermia.”
He stared at Clemont, who looked somewhere else.
“Yes, i am looking at you, Clemont, he said. Your invention caused an avalanche that almost killed all of us!!”
“I said i was sorry, answered the inventor. Geez....”
Sunlight got up and left the Pokemon Center. Sunset followed him.
“Where are you going?!” she asked.
“I am heading to the Gym of this city, he answered. The faster i get my last badge, the sooner i will leave this hell...”
“Oh, okay...” she said.
“I’ll see you later!” said the hero
Sunlight headed then to the Gym Leader’s arena. He entered in and heard a computer voice talking to him.
“Welcome to the Snowbelle Battle Gym, said the voice. The Gym Leader is in that direction! Hum, i detect that you are shivering.”
“I am fine, he answered. I will get used to it.”
“This is your choice” said the robotic voice.
Sunlight entered in the arena and saw a imposant man standing at the other side of it.
“Welcome, challenger!! Said the man. I am Wulfric, the Gym Leader of Snowbelle City!”
The referee started explaining the rules of the match and was about to gave the start signal. Sunlight removed his warm coat, revealing his costume. He then removed the costume, letting him shirtless (He was wearing tight pants underneath the costume.). He immediately felt the icy cold crippling his body.
“Hum, love showing those muscles, do ya? Said Wulfric. That may work on girls and women, but it got nothing on me...”
“I am not doing that for the show, he answered. You see, i am sensible to cold and normally, i would wear warm clothes to fight you.”
Wulfric saw that his opponent was shivering.
“Hum, you have guts, he answered. I like it...”
“Each trainer will use 3 pokemons, said the referee. Are you ready? Send your first Pokemon!”
“Go, Avalugg!!” said Wulfric.
“Alright, then i send you, Ninetails!!” said Sunlight.
“Hum, so, that will be a fire vs ice battle, said the Gym Leader. That promise to be interesting. Avalugg, use Stone Edge!!”
Avalugg summoned rock blades from the ground in direction of Ninetails.
“Dodge them!! Said Sunlight. And then counter with Sunny Day.”
Ninetails gracefully jumped over the rock blades and used Sunny Day. Soon, the arena was covered of bright sunlight and our hero stopped shivering, alimented in energy by the heat and light.
“Use Flamethrower!!” said Sunlight.
“Avalugg!! Use Avalanche!!” shouted the Gym Leader.
Avalugg took Ninetails attack and countered by blasting a big cloud of ice and snow at his opponent. Ninetails got hit and was knocked away.
“Avalugg, use Hail!!” said Wulfric.
Avalugg summoned hail, that started falling in the arena. Sunlight was hurted by the little balls of ice and same for Ninetails. Avalugg body suddenly glowed and some of his injuries disappeared.
“Now, use Hydro Pump!!” said Wulfric.
Avalugg threw at Ninetails, still trapped in the snow, a blast of water that sent her sliding against a wall.
“Ninetails is unable to fight!!” announced the referee.
Sunlight called back Ninetails and sent Delphox.
“Hum, Use Hydro Pump again!! Said Wulfric!!”
“Dodge!! And use Fire Blast!!” said Sunlight.
Delphox dodged the attack and sent a big blast of fire at Avalugg, who couldn’t dodge it.
“Avalugg is unable to fight!!” said the referee
Wulfric called back Avalugg.
“Alright, this is your turn, Glalie!!” said the Gym Leader.
“Delphox, use Fire Blast!!” said Sunlight.
“Not so fast!! Use Protect, Glalie!!” shouted Wulfric
Glalie blocked the attack with a magic barrier.
“Now, Glalie, use Blizzard!!” said the Gym Leader
Glalie sent at Delphox a concentrated and powerful ice storm, which also hurt Sunlight and sent him on the ground, shivering. The blizzard disappeared and revealed Delphox covered of ice and snow, unable to move.
“Finish her with Sheer Cold!!” said Wulfric.
Glalie summoned from the ground a wave of ice that Froze Delphox solid. Then, the ice broke and Delphox felt on the ground, K.O.
“Delphox is unable to fight” said the referee.
Sunlight called her back. He had severy frostbites and had uncontrollable shivering spams.
“Alright, this is your turn, Charizard!!” he said.
“Glalie! Use Blizzard!!” said Wulfric.
“You won’t!! Said Sunlight. Charizard!! Use Flare Blitz!!”
Charizard surrounded himself in fire and get through the blizzard to stroke Glalie.
“Now, stop and use Flamethrower!!” he said.
Charizard stopped in front of Glalie and blasted him with fire. The attack put Glalie K.O.
“Glalie is unable to continue the battle!!” said the referee.
“That was very smart of you, you know, said the Gym Leader. Using Flare Blitz to get through Blizzard, then immediately change to Flamethrower.”
Sunlight began to feel dizzy and felt lost of consciousness.
“You don’t look alright, said Wulfric, In that case, i will end the battle quick...Abomasnow!! I chose you!!”
Abomasnow appeared. Wulfric revealed his Keystone to Sunlight.
“Abomasnow, Mega-Evolve!!” said the Gym Leader.
“Cha..Charizard, said Sunlight. Let’s end this battle now! Mega-Evol...”
Sunlight suddenly lost consciousness. The last thing he saw before fainting was the face of Charizard. When he reopened the eyes, he was at the Pokemon Center, wrapped in tons of warm bed sheets. Sunset, Nurse Joy, Wulfric, Clemont and Bonnie were with him.
“He woke up!!” said Nurse Joy
“Ugh...What happened?” he asked, sitting on the hospital bed.
“What happened? Asked Wulfric. Well, you lost consciousness during our fight. You clearly overestimated your resistance to cold, my dear. Luckily, i was able to get you at the Pokemon Center just in time.”
“You were in hyporthemia, said Nurse Joy. Why did you insisted to fight shirtless?”
“Well, i wanted to spice up the battle, he answered. Prove to myself i am strong enough to face anything”
“That was stupid of you, said Sunset. You could have died!!”
“But i didn’t” he said with a smile.
Sunset Shimmer slapped him.
“You find that funny?! She said. You had me worried sick, Sunlight. I could have lose you because of your stupidity and pride!”
“That mean i lost the Gym Battle, didn’t i?” asked Sunlight to Wulfric.
“Not exactly, i told the referee to pause the fight, he answered. When you will be ready, we will finish the battle at my arena”
Sunlight got up.
“How long was i unconscious?” he asked.
“Oh, almost 3 hours, answered Wulfric. Oh, and your sister challenged me during the time.”
“Did she won?” asked Sunlight.
“Yes!! She said. That was very close, but i beat him!!”
“Then, let’s do this!!” he said.
“We will support you, Sunlight, said Sunset. You better keep your clothes on this time!”
Later, Sunlight and Wulfric were in the arena. The hero was wearing his superhero costume.
“Go, Charizard!! He shouted. I chose you!!”
“Go, Abomasnow!! Let’s do this!!”
“Go, Sunlight!! Yelled Sunset. You can do this!!”
Sunlight and Wulfric both activated their Keystones. Their pokemons started to mega-evolve. Mega-Charizard X and Mega-Abomasnow revealed themselves in all their might and glory.
“Think you can handle the Iceberg?” asked Wulfric
“This is what we will see!! Answered Sunlight. Prepare to feel the burn!”
“Abomasnow!! Use Ice Punch!!” shouted Wulfric
“Charizard!! Use Dragon Claws!!”
The two Pokemon’s attacks clashed. Causing a big wave of energy that broke the ice on the ground and hit Sunset and her friends. The two pokemons got knocked back and started clashing again and again.
“Charizard!! Said Sunlight. Use Flamethrower!!”
“Abomasnow!! Said Wulfric. Block with Ice Beam!!”
The two attacks collided and created an explosion. Abomasnow use Ice Punch again, while Charizard countered with Dragon Claws. Sunlight’s temperature suddenly started to rise, creating fog around him. A fire aura began to emanate from his body, and Charizard was also emanating the same one. To finish, Sunlight’s hairs turned into living flames, similar to those of Charizard’s tail.
“What the?!” said Wulfric, surprised.
“Is that me or his head is in fire?” asked Clemont.
“No, you don’t imagine things, said Sunset. His hairs are literally in fire!!”
“Can it be? Said Wulfric. I already saw this by the past...”
Clemont and Bonnie also had the same thoughts.
“It’s like if Charizard and Sunlight were in perfect synchronization!! Like...” said Clemont.
“...With Ash and his Greninja!! Said Bonnie. No, that’s different!!”
“Charizard is a Fire type Pokemon, right?” asked Sunset.
“Yes! Answered Clemont. Why asking?”
“Sunlight’s prime element is the fire, she said. He is bounded with it. Same for Fire types Pokemons!! I think the aura of Mega-Charizard have combined with Sunlight’s magic fire aura.”
Sunlight got on the back of Charizard and this one flew in the airs.
“Alright!! He said. Charizard, use Flamethrower!!!”
The Pokemon spitted a very powerful blast of flames at Mega-Abomasnow.
“Use Blizzard!! Said the Gym Leader!!”
Blizzard collided with Flamethrower, but the clash of the two moves didn’t lasted long. The flame blast engulfed the ice attack and Mega-Abomasnow. This one survived the attack, but then, he saw Charizard flying in his direction, covered in flames.
“Use Flare Blitz!!” said the hero.
The Pokemon hit Abomasnow with all his power, sending the pokemon crashing against the walls of the Arena. Abomasnow returned to his normal form and fainted. Charizard returned to normal shortly after, and Sunlight’s hair too.
“Abomasnow is unable to continue the battle, saif the referee. The victory goes to our challenger!!”
Sunlight hugged his pokemon of joy and was joined by his friends shortly after.
“You did it!! Said Sunset. You did it!! We both have our 8 badges now!!”
Wulfric gave him the Iceberg Badge.
“That was a battle i won’t forget!! He said. Were did that energy came from?”
“I don’t know, said Sunlight. The fight was pumping me up and i felt the adrenaline rushed through my body. That battle ignited my fighting spirit...Literally.”
“Talk about being in fire, said the Gym Leader. Well, you know what that mean for you two, right? The next thing that await you is the Pokemon League”
“That’s true, said Sunset. But it only begin in a couple of weeks. That should let me time to complete my team.”
“And this is the moment to told you that i leave the team” said Sunlight.
“What? Asked Sunset. Why?!”
“You know why, he answered. We have to prepare for the League, and this is something you and me need to do individually. Next time we will met will be at the Tournament.”
“Yeah, i knew that moment would come, she said. Promise me you will take care of yourself and not doing anything stupid.”
“I promise, he said. Clemont, Bonnie, take care of her...”
“Yes, said Bonnie. We will stay with her until the end!”
Sunlight hugged Sunset and kissed her on the forehead. Then left the town on the back of his Charizard.
”I’ll be waiting for you at the League!” said Sunset to herself.
The trio left the town.
“Where are we heading next, Sunset?” asked Clemont.
“I have no idea!! She said. I will let the fate decide of what will happen next!”
[A few hours later]
Sunlight was inside an airplane, in first class.
“The flight at Destination of Alola will soon begin, said an hostess via the intercom. Please put your belts and we hope you’ll enjoy the travel!!”
”Alola, wait for me” he said.
