//------------------------------// // Chapter 1 // Story: Ponified // by Crossover Queen //------------------------------// It was a normal day. The birds were chirping, and light rain pinged on the metal roofing of Jack’s house. Simple Man by Lynrd Skynrd played softly on the phone that sat on Jack’s bedside table. Yawing, Jack rolled out of the confines of his comfy bed and up onto his feet. Only to fall flat on his face. He groaned in pain, not knowing what was going on, Jack once again attempted to stand back up. Only to fail once again, he was getting more and more confused by the second. Why on Earth couldn’t he stand up? Looking to see what was wrong, Jack was startled to see forest green hooves attached to where his legs should be. Panicking, Jack screamed. Luckily, neither of his parents were home, and his sister was an early riser and had most likely already left for school. Jack was beginning to hyperventilate. How could this happen?! Sure, he was a fan of My Little Pony, and sometimes dreamed of this happening, but come on! This wasn’t even his Oc! Jack, however, wasn’t foolish enough to think this was a dream. His fall had hurt too bad for this to be anything but the real deal. Once he got the hang of standing up like a quadruped, Jack slowly made his way to the mirror in his room. The first thing he noticed was that he was a unicorn. The next thing he noticed was his mane. It was a dark blue with white streaks going through it. And the final thing he noticed about his new body was his eyes. They were a light purple color, similar to the color of a mare known as Twilight Sparkle. Oddly enough, he seemed to have a brown leather saddle bag that was filled with writing utensils, such as quills, paper, and ink. Not thinking too much on why he would have such items, and why he didn’t feel the items or his transformation in his seep, Jack galloped out of his room, and out the door. He was late for school! He grabbed his Invader Zim backpack and tried to put it on, but it was useless. There was no way he would be able to wear it, and he had no idea how to pick things up in this new body of his, so he couldn’t just put the stuff in there in his bag. How was he supposed to explain this to his teacher? Could he just tell him that he ate his own homework since he was a pony now? With that last thought, he came to a screeching halt. What was he thinking? Just going out into the world looking like this? But what else was he supposed to do? Maybe he could use his magic to turn him into a human again, or at least to make himself a half-decent disguise. Concentrating, Jack put all his energy into trying to do the spell. He felt something, he really felt it in his gut that this would work! Poot. Jack blushed, even though he knew there was no one to see him, other than the readers of the story he somehow had a feeling his life had turned into since he had turned into a pony. Making up his mind, Jack decided to go outside. After all, maybe there was some sort of magic-making him still appear human, he reasoned. Jack trotted happily down his driveway towards the bus stop. He waited for the bus. When it arrived, the bus driver refused to let him in. The bus driver was a large woman, but she wasn’t fat. She had lots of muscles and had wide, broad shoulders. Even though she looked intimidating, she was one of the kindest people that most people would ever have the chance to meet. She tried to shoo him away, and he could tell she was terrified of him. He heard a lot of gasps, and several people tried to make their way off of the bus to him. There were a lot of bronies in his school, and quite a few ride his bus to school. “It’s a unicorn!”, one boy shouted. “What’s it doing all the way from Equestria?”, another asked. “Are you kidding me? Equestria isn’t real, you bonehead.”, someone said. Jack recognized that voice. It was one of the many bullies and anti bronies in the school, Kent. The sound of Kent slapping someone upside the head was heard. “Oh yeah? How else do you explain a UNICORN being here? Plus, he’s got a cutie mark.”, said the second voice. Jack knew that voice as well. It was Roger, one of his best friends. Jack quickly looked at his flank, and sure enough, there was a cutie mark there. It was of a book with a lamp that was brightly light illuminating said book. “There has to be some other sort of explanation!”, Kent argued back. Before Jack could hear any more, the bus sped off, leaving nothing but dust and smoke in its wake. Jack tried to call out to his friend as he galloped after the speeding bus, but all that anyone else could hear were horse sounds. Not that jack knew that, of course. To him, it sounded like he was still speaking English. Jack stopped, and huffed, out of breath, and slightly angry. He couldn’t believe that Mrs. Beth would leave him like that! Then again, she had no idea it was him, he mused. Deciding to still go to school, Jack cantered along the road, humming the Cafeteria Song from Equestria Girls along the way. He was so caught up in his humming, and slightly bad dancing as he walked, that he almost didn’t see the yellow pony with red hair that held a pink bow on top of her head. “Hey Bright Light!”, called out to what sounded to Jack as a little girl with a southern accent, but to any passer-by would sound like the neighing of a young horse. Jack recognized that voice from somewhere. He whipped around, even though he didn’t recognize the name, because he somehow got the feeling that she was talking to him, and his jaw dropped open in shock at what, or should I say, whom, he saw. It was Apple Bloom.
