Training

Another two weeks as past since the event in forest and true to his word, Cardin and his team has stop harassing Jaune and the Faunus. Other than that, nothing ells had happened expect one thing; no other student want to fight Blaze anymore and he has himself to blame. After the fight with Pyrrha and Yang, no other student want to fight him thanks to his speed, and he don’t blame them.

At the moment, Blaze and his team was in the court yard doing some practices fighting without weapon. Opal had suggested that they need hand to hand combat training when/if they lose their weapon, she also said that Blaze wasn’t allowed to use his speed.

At first, Blaze thought that the training was going to be straightforward. Thought, as he started to fight Opal, he was caught off guard by her fighting style. The panda Faunus did not just use her arms to block and parry his attacks, but also used her legs to try and throw him off balance with kicks. It was a fighting style that caught him by surprise as he was only able to get a few hits in before Opal caught one of his punches and countered with a strike of her palm right in the face.

“You alright there?” She asked him as Blaze straightened himself back up. “Need some help?”

“Hardly.” He retorted before getting back into a fighting stance. As Opal began to attack, Blaze himself decided to try a strategy that was similar to what Opal was doing. Stay defensive and wait for an opportunity to present itself. That opportunity came when Opal tried to sweep him from under his feet with a low kick. At the right time, he somersaulted over her leg, before striking her exposed backside and knocking her down to the ground.

Yet, as Opal got up, all she had was a smirk on her face. “Not bad.” the Faunus told him, before looking to the side where her teammates were. “Do someone else want to give it a go? I rather not have all the fun here.”

“How about Luna and I go next?” Blake suggested. “Let Blaze take a small break.”

Luna herself, upon hearing that, looked a bit nervous. Almost as if she were being called on the spot. “A-are you sure? I… don’t think I’m ready…”

“Luna, we’re just practicing among ourselves, you don’t have anything to worry about.” Opal tried to encourage her teammate, before she looked at the leader of their team. “Hey, are you alright with letting them practice for a bit?”

“I’m fine with it.” Blaze told her. “Why ask me thought?”

“Because you’re the leader of our team.” Opal told him. “It would be rude for me to try and make decisions that you wouldn’t agree to, don’t you think?”

Blaze himself just let out a small sigh in response as he looked back towards the panda faunus. “Fair point… Go an ahead.”

All Luna did was just nervously ned her head before she and Blake met in the center of the courtyard. After Blake raised up her hands and took up a fighting stance, the rest of her teammates watch as Luna attempted to do the same. Thought, when they started to fight one another, Blaze and Opal began to notice something. Whenever Luna tried to attack Blake, she was always overextending and sometimes lost her balance whenever she missed. Which was the complete opposite of Blake, who was balanced and on her feet.

They continued to watch for a couple more minutes as Luna found it difficult to keep up against her opponent. Thought, at one point, Blaze had seen enough and decided to intervene. “Alright, can you two stop for a moment?”

Luna was quick to turn towards Blaze, letting out an exhausted breath as she looked back at the leader of their team. “I-is something wrong?”

“Luna, I need to ask you something.” He told her. “Do you know hand to hand combat?”

She looked away nervously at first, but after a couple of moments, responded to his question. “N.no… I was never thought how to fight like that.”

That definitely sounded like a bit of a problem, but it was one that could easily be fixed. “Why don’t we take a moment to teach you a few things first?”

“A-are you sure? Luna asked. “T-his was supposed to be training-“

“Part of training is learning new things to add to what you already know.” Blake then commented. “I don’t see a reason not to.”

“U-um… o-okay…” Luna replied as Blaze saw a look uncertainty on her face. Ig he had to guess, she was probably unsure about how well she would perform when it comes to learning something new. Especially since she was used to fighting with her sword.

“Let me train with her Blake.” When Luna heard that, her face became pale. “Don’t worry, I going to take it easy on you.” She became a little more relax after but still very nervous.

Blake walk over to Opal while Blake walk to Luna. “Do you think that Luna will be ok?” She asked her team mate.

Opal crossed her arms. “I’m not sure, Blaze is a good fighter, but I think that he just want to test her, see what she knows.” Blake hope that she was right about that.

Luna was very nervous right now, right in front her was a faunus that was older, taller and stronger than her and they were about to fight, at least that’s what she thinks, and boy was she surprised of what Blaze did next, he held up his hands as she could hit them.

“Alright, throw a punch.” Luna wasn’t sure what do right now. “What are you waiting for? Just hit my hands as hard as you can.” Luna decided to it, she made a fist with both hands and then she struck his right hand with her left, he could barely feel it. “What was that? Put some force into it.” She did and like last time, he could barley feel it. “What’s the matter with you? Can you fight at all?”

Luna started to cry. “NO. I can’t fight with my hands, I was never taught how to do it.” She back away a little. “This was a mistake, I should never had left Menagerie.” She then ran back to Beacon crying.

Blaze then heard clapping behind him, he turned around and it was Opal. “Nice work, you managed to scare her away. I thought you were going easy on her.”

“I was but I don’t think it’s all my fault.” He look to where Luna ran. “I think something happened in her past.”

That worried Opal and Blake. “Maybe we should talk to her.” Opal was about run after her, but Blaze placed a hand on her shoulder stopping in her track.

“Leet her calm down first then we can talk to her.”

Opal was to say something, but he was right, Luna needed to calm down. They decided to go back to the training but then team Excalibur walk towards them.
