Sunlight and the team finally reached Laverre after a whole day of walk. They were tired and decided to stop at a motel for the night. Sunset and Bonnie decided to share a room and Clemont and Sunlight, another one, to save on money. Bonnie was playing with Sunset’s hairs while she was watching the T.V. In the boys room, Clemont was studying Sunlight’s rocket boots while the hero was playing on his Pokedex. The next day, they headed to the Gym but were stopped by a crowd.
“Oh, right, i forgot to told you that Laverre organize a Fashion Show once a year” said Clemont.
“I suppose that mean that the Gym must be closed for the day” said Sunlight.
“Look at the bright side, that let you more time to prepare” said Clemont.
“Hum” said Sunlight, a bit upset and sour.
“You should take part to this fashion show, Sunset, said Bonnie. You are so pretty!!”
“Thank you, Bonnie, but fashion is not my thing, she said. Why don’t you do it Sunlight?”
“Me? Never” he said.
“Oh, also, at the end of the show, she will choose someone in the public to challenge her to a pokemon battle, said Clemont. If you beat her, she will give you the badge. If you fail, well, you could wait to tomorrow to fight her again”
“Oh, Hi, Clemont, hi Bonnie!!” said a woman.
“Oh, hi Valerie!!” said Clemont.
“Hi!!” said Bonnie
“What are you 2 doing in Laverre? She asked. I thought you wanted to stay to Lumiose Town”
“We met these 2 trainers, said Bonnie, and we decided to follow them in their adventure.”
“My name is Sunset Shimmer, she said. I am travelling in the region to collect the 8 badges for the Pokemon League.”
“Oh, well, my name is Valerie, she said. I am the Gym Leader of Laverre. Nice to meet you! And who is that pretty young man who look upset?”
“Oh, this is my brother, Sunlight Blaze, she said. He is also travelling across Kalos for the badges and to compete in the Pokemon League. Excuse him for his attitude, he is just upset to not be able to challenge you to a Gym Battle. Sunlight, Don’t be rude and change your attitude!”
“Meh, if you look for me, i will be walking in town” He said, leaving the group
“Forgive him, said Sunset. I don’t know why he is like that”
“That’s okay, she said. Hum, do you want to be one of the pageant queens of the contest?”
“Hum, what is the 1st prize?” she asked.
“The winner win the trophy, for sure, but also a big prize in money and his/her picture in the Kalos Fashion magazine. But if you win, i’ll give you this Fairy Badge in bonus.”
“In that case, i’m in!!” she said.
“I will go with you!” said Bonnie.
“And i will try to calm down Sunlight, said Clemont. I will join you later!!”
The 2 girls and Clemont went on a different way. Sunlight, meanwhile, was in the forest, training with his pokemons for the battle of tomorrow.
“If i’ll have to wait until tomorrow, he thought. I should at least use that time to get better”
Sunlight heard someone coming in his direction.
“Someone’s coming, he said. Houndoom, be ready to pass to the action”
Clemont revealed himself with his Luxray.
“Oh, it’s you, said Sunlight. Why are you following me?”
“Well, our sisters are with Valerie, he answered. Sunset will take part in the contest and you should at least encourage her, don’t you think?”
“I thought she didn’t want to compete, he said. Why did she changed her mind?”
“Hum, Valerie told us that the winner will get a Gym Badge, said Clemont. Uh..? Sunlight? Where are you?”
He was already gone, heading to the inscription stand.
“I am sorry, said the man in the stand. But the Fashion Contest is only for girls”
Sunlight fell on the ground.
“Dang it!!!!” he shouted
Clemont arrived, exhausted.
“You could have prevented me before disappearing like that!!” he said.
“You could have precised that the contest was only for girls!!” said Sunlight
“For my defense, you didn’t let me finish” said Clemont.
Sunlight blushed.
“Right, he said. He he he he...Well, you know what, i don’t want to receive the badge without a fight, i will wait tomorrow to challenge her”
“Hum, there is still a chance she choose you at the end of the show” said the Gym Leader.
“Meh, said the hero. Let’s just assist to this contest.”
Sunlight entered in the crowd, with Clemont to his sides.
“Ladies and gents, said Valerie. Welcome to this 20th edition of Laverre’s Fashion Contest!! And to celebrate this special event, we prepared lot of surprises for you, visitors and citizens in the crowd!! And we modified the winning prizes for the participants too!! Are you ready?!”
The crowd cheered and shouted of joy and euphory.
“In that case, let’s the competition begin!!!” she shouted.
The first girl showed up and walked on the stage. She saluted the crowd and took elegant poses. The judges gave her a total score of 26 and she returned in her room.
“Just 26!? Said the girl. How dare they!!”
The next girl got on the stage, she was wearing a bright fairy tale dress. She also saluted the crowd and took poses. The Judges gave her a 25. The girl returned in her room and screamed of rage. An hour later, there was only Sunset left.
“There it is, said Clemont. This is your sister’s turn.”
“Valerie kept the best for last, said Sunlight. Sunset will win, i have no doubt.”
In Sunset’s room, Bonnie was finalising Sunset’s make-up.
“Are you sure they will love it?” asked Bonnie.
Sunset had opted for a Punk Rock outfit and look. She had dyed her hairs blue, green and yellow, and changed her habitual haircut for a spiked one. (Inspired by Sunlight).
“A friend of mine who is an expert in fashion told me that in the world of Fashion, you have to innovate, this is exactly what i will do with this outfit. Until now, all the girls only wore fancy dresses. If i want to get noticed, i need to be different!”
“I am with you, said Bonnie. Good luck!!”
Sunset walked on the stage.
”You can do it, Sunset, she thought. Trust yourself.”
She opened the curtains and revealed herself. The crowd gasp of surprise while Sunset was walking with style and sass. Clemont was astonished, Sunlight was smiling.
“Typical Sunset, he said. Yep, the victory is already her”
The crowd broke the silence and cheered her. She waited for the judges to give their score. To win, she had to get a perfect score.
”They like it, she thought. They like it! I hope the judge loved it too!”
The judge gave their final scores. The two first gave her a 10. Sunset hold her breath and looked at Sunlight in the crowd. He was smiling and making a thumb up. She immediately felt better. She then looked at Clemont, who was nervous and about to faint from the tension and suspence and smile. The last judge revealed her score, which was a 10
“We have our winner!! Shouted Valerie. Sunset Shimmer, with a perfect score of 30/30!!”
“I told you she would got this, said Sunlight to Clemont. I never doubted of her”
“Neither i did” said Clemont.
Sunset looked at her friends with joy. Sunlight climbed on the stage and made her swirl in the air before hugging her. Sunset blushed from that sudden mark of affection from Sunlight.
“I knew you could do it, he said. Now, go get your prize”
She walked to the podium to get her price from Valerie.
“Congratulation, she said. There is your prize!”
She gave to Sunset the 1 000 000 yens check, plus the Cup, a Ribbon and finally, the Fairy Badge,
“Thank you, said Sunset. I can’t believe i won.”
“I am not surprised, said Valerie. I would never have thought of a Punk Rock look. This is original and unusual, this is what the people want in Fashion.”
She walked to the stage and the crowd cheered for her one last time
“And to thank you for your support, each of you will receive a gift pack before leaving. Now, This is the time for me to choose one among you to challenge me in a Pokemon Battle. And i already know who i am going to choose”
She point at Sunlight.
“You, young man, she said. I like your outfit!! And you seem to be talented!! Do you accept to challenge me in a Pokemon Battle?”
Sunlight turned his head.
“Hum, on the stage? He asked. I don’t know if this is a good idea”
“And why?” she asked.
“I use mainly Fire types pokemons, he answered. And this stage is partially made of wood and metal.”
“You have nothing to worry about, she said. I am sure the stage can take a little heat.”
“When i am in a battle, he said with burning eyes. I go all out, but if you insist on battling here, don’t blame me for the damages...”
He smiled and put his mask on.
“Shall we begin?” he asked.
