Turquoise and Riolu were excited about the P1 Tournament and ran straight for the Fighting Dojo with the others trying to catch up to her.
“ Slow down Turquoise we still have time to eat breakfast,” Twilight said. As they were running Turquoise bumped into a man with blue hair with orange sunglasses wearing a black and orange shirt with blue border shorts and crocs matching his shirt.
“ What’s the rush little lady?” The man asked.
“ I’m signing up for the P1 Tournament,” Turquoise said before her friends caught up to her.
“ What a coincidence so am I but registration is not for another couple of hours,” The man said before Turquoise’s stomach growled. “ And it looks like your stomach is not in tune with your spirit.
“ Told you we had time to eat,” Twilight said.
“ Sorry about that,” Turquoise said. After clearing up the misunderstanding the man showed Turquoise and her friends to a ramen shop that served very good breakfast ramen.
“ Ramen for breakfast?” Applejack asked.
“ Its a very popular tradition back in my home region of Hoenn,” The man said before introducing himself. “ The name is Brawly by the way.
“ I’m Turquoise and these are my friends Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, And Rarity,” Turquoise said. After ordering their food Turquoise noticed a woman with pink hair with a bandage on her nose wearing a blue and black top with white sweatpants with a huge stack of bowls next to her.
“ That girl over there is Maylene the Veilstone City Gym Leader. She is also competing in the tournament and by the looks of it she is carb-loading,” Brawly said before she noticed them.
“ Good to see you Brawly,” Maylene said.
“ You too Maylene. Are you excited about the Tournament?” Brawly asked.
“ As long as I don,t face her right from the start again I am,” Maylene said before paying her bill and leaving.
“ What did she mean by her?” Twilight asked.
“ Last year she and the Gym Leader of the Shalour City Gym battled to see who’s Lucario was the strongest. And after Korina’s Mega Evolved Lucario defeated Maylene’s Lucario Maylene and her Lucario traveled the world looking for Locarionite,” Brawly said as their ramen arrived.
“ Something tells me I don't stand a chance against them,” Turquoise said.
“ Don,t worry its a thirty-two person tournament so odds are you won,t be paired up against them and they are not even the ones to beat. Who you should be worried about is Bea the winner of last year’s P1 Tournament,” Brawly said.
“ Who is Bea?” Turquoise asked.
“ The Gym Leader of the Stow-on-Side Gym and a master of Galar Karate,” Brawly said.
“ Sounds like a tough opponent,” Twilight said.
“ Very tough she even beat Ash many years ago,” Brawly said. As they were talking the time for registration was approaching and after it did Turquoise along with Brawly and Maylene left to enter. After registration closed Turquoise and the rest of the participants were taken to a backroom to await the bracket for the tournament while Twilight and the others went into the stands to watch. As soon as the bracket was drawn Turquoise was relieved to see she was not going up against any of the heavy hitters right off the bat and her match was first. Turquoise and her first-round opponent followed the official to the battlefield.
“ Welcome everyone to the twentieth annual P1 tournament. And now let’s introduce our trainers for the first match. First up a newcomer from Pallet Town Turquoise,” The Announcer said as the crowd went wild as Turquoise alongside her Riolu entered the battlefield. “ And her opponent from Slateport City in the Hoenn Region Carmen. A girl wearing a blue sundress with a matching hat and sandals along with her partner which was a mix between a bird and a luchador. Turquoise pulled out her Pokedex for more info.
“ Hawlucha. The Wrestling Pokemon. It drives its opponents to exhaustion with its agile maneuvers, then ends the fight with a flashy finishing move,” The Pokedex said.
“ Trainers ready. Begin,” The ref said.
“ Go Riolu,” Turquoise said as Riolu walked onto the battlefield.
“ Go Hawlucha,” Carmen said as her Hawlucha leaped onto the battlefield like a wrestler entering the ring.
“ Riolu use Swords Dance. Riolu spun around and was covered in a red aura indicating his attack went up.
“ Hawlucha use Hone Claws. Hawlucha sharpened its claws raising its attack and accuracy. “ Now use Flying Press. Hawlucha leaped into the air and tried to body slam Riolu.
“ Dodge and use Force Palm. Riolu dodged the attack and managed to blast Hawlucha with a powerful Force Palm that knocked it out.
“ Hawlucha is unable to battle Riolu is the winner,” The Ref said while pointing his right arm at Turquoise. Riolu and Turquoise looked happy with their victory. The rest of the matches went by quickly as the nine masters crushed their opponents with little effort. After the final match ended the remaining sixteen trainers went to the back to see who their round two opponents would be. After seeing her next opponent was Bruno of the Elite Four Turquoise was beginning to feel nervous. Riolu sensing Turquoise’s nervousness takes her hands and places them together before slamming both his palms on Turquoise’s hands making them sting.
“ Ow, what was that for Riolu?” Turquoise asked before realizing she was not nervous anymore. Sometime later Turquoise and Bruno was told to head for the Battlefield.
“ And now its time for the second round and first up the newcomer from Pallet Town Turquoise,” The announcer said as Turquoise and Riolu entered the battlefield. “ And her opponent Bruno of the Elite Four. A man with rippling muscles and messy hair wearing only a pair of ripped white pants and weighted bands on his wrists and ankles.
“ I commend you on making it past the first round now let’s see how you handle my Hitmonlee,” Bruno said as a brown creature with long legs walked onto the field. Turquoise pulled out her Pokedex for more info.
“ Hitmonlee. The kicking Pokemon. This amazing Pokémon has an awesome sense of balance. It can kick in succession from any position,” The Pokedex said.
“ Battle begin,” The ref said.
“ Hitmonlee use Mega Kick. Hitmonlee’s leg glowed as he leaped into the air and prepared to bring his leg down.
“ Dodge and use Force Palm. Riolu managed to dodge and strike back with Force Palm. Turquoise was expecting Hitmonlee to be paralyzed but was shocked to see he wasn’t.
“ What’s the matter? Did my Hitmonlee’s limber ability take you by surprise? This ability prevents paralysis,” Bruno said.
“ No matter we will just keep going. Riolu use Bullet Punch. Riolu’s fists were covered in a red aura as he punched rapidly.
“ We will use Bullet Punch as well. Hitmonlee did the same thing as Riolu and both pokemon matched each other punch for punch until Hitmonlee managed to nail Riolu and caused him to fall forward.
“ Riolu get back up I know you have more in you,” Turquoise shouted which allowed Riolu to get back up.
“ I admire your fighting spirit little Riolu but we are not done yet. Hitmonlee use Blaze Kick. Hitmonlee’s leg was covered in fire as he kicked Riolu for some good damage. Despite the damage and burn Riolu was still standing and looked determined to win. “ You have a strong spirit. I like that. Very well we shall finish you with our strongest move. Hitmonlee use High Jump Kick. Hitmonlee leaped into the air and prepared to slam Riolu with his knee.
“ Dodge that quick. Riolu mustered up as much of his remaining strength as he could and managed to move out of the way in time for Hitmonlee to miss and hurt himself. The pain caused Hitmonlee to faint.
“ Hitmonlee is unable to battle Riolu is the winner which means Turquoise wins the match,” The ref said while pointing at Turquoise.
“ We did Riolu, we won against a member of the Elite Four,” Turquoise said joyfully while hugging Riolu. Bruno smiled before recalling his Hitmonlee.
“ You have earned my respect. Keep that flame of yours burning,” Bruno said before leaving. Before the next match started Turquoise and Riolu decided to join her friends in the stands. The next battle was between Maylene and Greta. Maylene and her Lucario gave it everything they had but in the end, Greta and her Medicham were the victors. The rest of the battles went by quickly and after the final battle of the second round ended the announcer took over.
“ And that concludes day one of our tournament. The eight trainers moving on to the semi-finals are Turquoise. Greta, Tia, Chuck, Bea, Brawly, Marshal, and Korina,” The announcer said before declaring day one officially over. Everyone left the arena to either heal their pokemon or leave. Turquoise and her friends were on their way to the Pokemon Center to heal Riolu.
“ Those were some amazing battles,” Twilight said.
“ Agreed, the way Riolu dodged that last kick was awesome,” Rainbow said. After Riolu was healed up for tomorrow the girls all went to bed.
The next day the final eight trainers gathered to see the bracket for semi-finals. The first match was Turquoise vs Greta. Turquoise followed the ref to the battlefield along with a woman with blonde hair wearing a karate outfit.
“ It's time for the first round of the semi-finals. And the first to enter is the newcomer from Pallet Town turquoise,” The Announcer said as Turquoise and Riolu stepped onto their side of the field. “ And her opponent the Frontier Brain of the Battle Arena Greta. The woman from before stepped onto her side of the field with her Medicham while striking a pose.
“ Hope you’re ready for a good battle because we won't lose to you so easily,” Greta said.
“ Then you better bring it,” Turquoise said.
“ Battle begin,” The Ref said.
“ Medicham use Ice Punch. Medicham rushed at Riolu with great speed with its fist covered in ice blue energy.
“ Dodge and use Force Palm. Riolu barely dodged the attack and managed to land a good blow on Medicham while also paralyzing it. “ Now use Rock Smash. Riolu’s fist was covered in orange energy as he punched Medicham and sent it back a good distance.
“ Not bad but let’s see how you handle this. Medicham use Drain Punch. Medicham charged at Riolu with its fist spinning and then nailed Riolu for some big damage while recovering some of it. “ Now use Ice Punch. Medicham tried to use Ice Punch but was stopped by the paralysis.
“ Riolu used Force Palm. Riolu used his Force Palm only for Greta to react to it.
“ Dodge and use High Jump Kick. Medicham leaped into the air and prepared to unleash High Jump Kick on Riolu. As Medicham came closer Turquoise prepared to launch her finisher.
“ Dodge and use Force Palm from behind. As soon as Medicham reached the ground Riolu leaped over Medicham and while it was feeling the pain from failing to land High Jump Kick Riolu struck Medicham from behind and caused it to faint.
“ Medicham is unable to battle. Riolu is the winner which means Turquoise wins the match,” The ref said as he pointed to Turquoise.
“ That was a great battle, good luck in the next round,” Greta said before leaving. The other three matches went by smoothly with Tia. Bea, and Korina moving on to the next round. After everyone’s pokemon were healed the bracket for the finals was revealed. It was Turquoise vs Korina and Bea Vs Tia. Turquoise and Korina proceeded to the Battlefield raring to go.
“ And now it's time for the finals and first up we have Turquoise against Tia,” The announcer said as Turquoise and A girl with long wine red hair wearing a simple pink dress entered the battlefield.
“ Congrats on getting this far but I'm afraid this is where it ends for you,” Tia said.
“ You're wrong, it's your advancement that ends here,” Turquoise said.
“ Battle begin,” The Ref said.
“ Go Riolu,” Turquoise said as Riolu entered the battle.
“ Go Scrafty,” Tia said as Scrafty entered the battle. “ Let's start with Focus Blast. Scrafty generated a sphere of green energy and threw it at Riolu.
“ Send it back with Force Palm. Riolu struck the Focus Blast with Force Palm and sent it back with almost twice the speed which not only nailed Scrafty but beat it in one blow.
“ Scrafty is unable to battle. Riolu is the winner which means Turquoise wins the match,” The Ref said. Tia stormed off after losing while Turquoise decided to watch the next match with her friends. As soon as Turquoise joined her friends a woman with short hair with a black and orange hairband wearing an orange, white, and black sports uniform with the number 193 on it with white knee guards and no shoes along with a woman with a big blonde ponytail wearing a red and white roller derby outfit.
“ And now the second match will be between Bea and her Machamp and Korina and her Lucario,” The announcer said while Turquoise used her Pokedex on Machamp.
“ Machamp. The Superpower Pokemon. One of these Pokémon once used its immeasurable strength to lift a large ship that was in trouble. It then carried the ship to port,” The Pokedex said. The battle was intense but in the end, Bea won with a powerful Dynamic Punch. Turquoise went back to the competitor’s section to get herself mentally ready to face Bea. Riolu could sense Turquoise’s fear and assured her she would be fine as long as she did her best. Sometime later Turquoise and Bea stepped onto the battlefield ready for the final match.
“ And now it's time for the final match. Who will be the winner? Will it be Turquoise the newcomer or will it be Bea the Stow-On-Side Gym Leader?” The Announcer said which got the crowd hyped up.
“ I will admit you have skill but those other trainers were soft compared to me,” Bea said.
“ We shall see who is soft after this battle,” Turquoise said.
“ Battle begin,” The Ref said.
“ Go Riolu,” Turquoise said as Riolu rushed onto the field.
“ Go Machamp,” Bea said as Machamp stomped onto the field and shook Riolu off balance a little. Bea was doing some movement with her arms before taking a stance with her upper arms by her side and her lower arms pointing forward with her fists clenched. “ Start with Bulk Up. Machamp flexed all four of his arms as his attack and defense stats rose. Bea punched her left arm forward. “ Now use Dynamic Punch. Machamp charged at Riolu with a fist covered in orange energy.
“ Dodge and use Force Palm. Riolu managed to use his small size to outspeed the Dynamic Punch and strike back with a Force Palm only for Machamp to repel it.
“ Did you honestly think an attack like that would work on an opponent bigger than you,” Bea said, not impressed with Riolu’s Force Palm. “ Machamp use Seismic Toss. Machamp grabbed Riolu and leaped into the air while somersaulting. After a few seconds Machamp threw Riolu and caused him to smash into the ground. Riolu was looking like he was in great pain.
“ Come on Riolu get up,” Turquoise said in a worried tone. Riolu used all the strength he had left to try and get back up. “ DON’T GIVE UP YOU CAN DO IT. Suddenly Riolu began to glow before getting back up.
“ It's about time Riolu started to evolve,” Rainbow said. Riolu began to grow bigger while his body changed shape. After the glow died down, A bigger Jackal-like creature stood where Riolu once did. Turquoise pulled out her Pokedex for more info.
“ Lucario. The Aura Pokemon and the evolved form of Riolu. It controls waves known as auras, which are powerful enough to pulverize huge rocks. It uses these waves to take down its prey,” The Pokedex said.
“ And it looks like you learned a new move as well,” Turquoise said.
“ Don’t think just because your Riolu evolved means you won yet. Machamp use Close combat. Machamp charged at Lucario and began punching rapidly.
“ Lucario use Bullet Punch. Lucario unleashed his Bullet Punch and managed to match Machamp punch for punch which caused both moves to cancel each other out. “ Now let's show Machamp a real Force Palm. Lucario placed his palm on Machamp and this time was able to push Machamp back to his side of the field while also paralyzing him.
“ Not bad you even managed to paralyze my Machamp but all you did was just trigger his guts ability so now his attack power goes up by 50%,” Bea said as her Machamp looked stronger. “ Let's end this with Dynamic Punch. Machamp charged at Lucario with his Dynamic Punch which did not faze Turquoise at all.
“ Time to show them your new move. Lucario use Aura Sphere. Lucario generated a sphere of blue energy and then launched it at Machamp who was struck by it and fainted.
“ Machamp is unable to battle. Lucario is the winner which means Turquoise wins the match,” The Ref said as he pointed at Turquoise.
“ And that's it folks the winner and this year’s P1 Champion is Turquoise and her Lucario,” The announcer said as Turquoise’s image along with a winner icon appeared on the screen. Sometime later Turquoise was given a trophy shaped like a fist and a black belt for her Lucario.
“ That black Belt increases the power of Fighting-Type Moves so wear it with pride Lucario,” The leader of the Fighting Dojo said. After all the excitement of the P1 Tournament died down Turquoise went to the Pokemon Center to have Lucario healed.
“ Your Lucario is all healed and back in fighting shape,” Nurse Joy said.
“ Thanks, Nurse Joy,” Turquoise said.
“ And I also have some good news. Sabrina just came back from her trip to Pokestar Studios and is awaiting challengers at her gym,” Nurse Joy said.
“ That's great to hear,” Turquoise said. After celebrating Turquosie’s victory in the P1 Tournament the girls called it a night.
