//------------------------------// // Fossils // Story: My Little Pokémon // by Amarvax //------------------------------// Today, Hollow is taking his class over on a trip to learn about Pokemon Fossils. Celestia had tagged along as well as Luna. She wanted to know about Fossil Pokemon since she was a bit of a geek to Pokemon. Celestia was interested as well. And this was one of her rare days off. The area they arrived in was the rocky area were the Diamond Dogs once kept Rarity. "Yeah. This looks like a place where Fossils may be." Hollow said. "I don't get what's so interesting about a Fossil? Their names even sound boring. Fossil." said Sunrise Sprint. "Oh, but these fossils are one of a kind. Pokemon Fossils are very unique in the fact that they can be restored. Bringing back the original Pokemon to this world." "Bringing back? Like Necromancy?!" Celestia exclaimed. "Uh... not quite. It's more a scientific way." "Oh. Phew." Celestia gave off a huge sigh. "I heard that some fossils were found here last month. Let's hope that they're still around. Come on out Scrafty." Hollow sent his Scrafty out of its Pokeball. This Scrafty had Black Sunglasses resting on its eyes were Black Sunglasses. Sapphire Flash pulled out her dex to see what looked like to be like the evolution to Ash's Scraggy that she knows of. "Scrafty. The Hoodlum Pokemon. This Pokémon may be rude, but it takes very good care of its family, its friends, and its turf. As halfhearted as this Pokémon’s kicks may seem, they pack enough power to shatter Conkeldurr’s concrete pillars. It pulls up its shed skin to protect itself while it kicks. The bigger the crest, the more respected it is." "Alright, Scrafty. Use Dig to see what you can find." "Scrafty!" Scrafty used its head to start digging as it went into the ground. "In the meantime! I've got this to get you started on Fossils. Sorry I didn't explain them earlier in the classroom." Hollow lent the students notes of all the different Fossil Pokemon. "These all look pretty weird..." A young pony said. "Yeah. They're kinda creepy a bit." So did another. "Oh come on. Fossil Pokemon aren't creepy." Hollow said but then remembered what Omastar looked like. "Well. Not all of them..." "This one looks like a Flying-Type!" A pony was looking at Archeops and Archen. "Oh yeah. That's Archen and Archeops. The First Bird Pokemon." Hollow explained. "The First Bird?" Sapphire responded to that. "Mhm. In fact, some Fossil Pokemon are the foundations of certain Pokemon that follow in the future. Archen and Archeops are the ancestors of all bird-like Pokemon." Hollow explained as well. "And this Pokemon over here, Carracosta and Tirouga are the Prototurtle Pokemon. All other turtle-like Pokemon descended from it." "Woah. No wonder they're fossils. These Pokemon are ancient!" Sunrise gawked. "I wonder what Fossil Pokemon we'll meet today Passion? Having a day off for once in a long time is so exciting." Celestia said. "Kirlia." Scrafty dug up from the ground as he had found one fossil at least. "Scrafty!" "Oh! Good job Scrafty! It looks like you found the Sail Fossil." Hollow said as his Scrafty lend him the fossil. "Which Pokemon does that hold?" A young filly asked. "This one has an Amaura inside. It evolves into one of the most beautiful Pokemon you'll ever see. Now, all we have to do is find someplace to revive it. But first, we'll study this fossil alone and then bring back the Amaura inside." "Maybe we can revive it by cracking it! Science is too boring." Sunrise exclaimed. "No, you dummy." Sapphire whacked him in the head. "That'll just destroy the Pokemon probably." "Pssh. Since when did you become a fossil expert?" "Nyeh!" Sapphire blew her tongue at him. Just then, in the distance, a group of Drillbur were doing what they normally do every day, drilling about, carving tons of holes in the rocky areas. The number of holes that were made actually revealed more fossils. "Check it out! There are more fossils! The Root Fossil, Skull Fossil, I even see an Old Amber too." Hollow. pointed out. "Thank you very much Drilbur!" Celestia waved at the Mole Pokemon as they waved back. Just then, Rarity was seen coming out of a hole in the cave, complaining as Spike Fluttershy, Twilight and Applejack came out of it. "Twilight? You're here too?" Celestia said. "And what in Equestria happened to you all? You appear dirty." Luna noticed Rarity's mane was a mess. "What happened?!!" Rarity exclaimed as she scared the kids. "I was just coming along to let Spikey-wikey dig up some gems. It was just meant to be a normal day. But then, that dog thing and Sableye came out of nowhere and chased us out and...and... GRGH! It's just been awful!" She stomped her hoof. "Oh, dear. Someone sounds fairly miffed." The lady came out of the cave as well. She had a dress so beautiful that would make any fashion pony jealous, including Rarity. Beside her, she had a Gothitelle as her partner Pokemon. Her name was Jewel. "What happened back in there wasn't too eventful." "Hold on. What really happened?" Celestia asked. "I'll tell em. I'll tell the whole thing." Applejack stepped forward. 12 minutes ago. "Alright. I feel lucky about today!" Rarity said with glee on her face. "Why is that Rarity?" Fluttershy asked. "Because today is when the most amount of gems show themselves. It's a rare occurrence. It doesn't normally happen naturally, it must be done by other means. Like that battle with Tirek." "You think that battle might've shaken things up here and revealed more gems?" Twilight asked. "Mhm. I saw them last night and the way they shined in the night. So divine." The group were in a cave as Rarity could see sparkles in the distance, indicating that some gemstones are near. "There they are! The motherload!" Rarity galloped towards that sparking light, but she was met with something that halted her instantly. Right where the gemstones were, a Midnight Lycanroc popped out of the corner, stopping Rarity's movements. Alongside this Lycanroc was a Sableye that was on its head. "Uh, excuse me darlings. Could you please move out of the way? I have some gemstones to collect right now so if you all would be dears-" "LYCAN!" Lycanroc stopped her chatter by letting out a cry. "Um. They just said that those gemstones aren't going anywhere. So beat it." Fluttershy translated. "Ah! How rude! You have no right to-" Lycanroc stopped her from talking again as it left a hole in the wall with its paws, making Rarity quake. "Hehehe. On second thought, maybe we can just...come back another time when you're not here." "Ly!" Lycanroc looked like it was about to attack them as it raised its arms up. It had a dark aura surround its paws and teeth, indicating that it was about to bite on them. The girls and Spike screamed as they started to run away from Lycanroc. Lycanroc and Sableye laughed as they saw the ponies scatter. From the corner, peeked out the Diamond Dogs. They saw how Lycanroc just easily scared away Rarity and her pals. They had so much trouble scaring her and this Wolf Pokemon did it in a few seconds. "What a lucky break! We don't have to deal with that pony again!" Rover said. "Disaster averted." Fido laughed. "With that thing around, we don't have to worry about trying to do all the hard work of scaring ponies." said Spot. "Now isn't that just a bit excessive?" A voice called to the Diamond Dogs. They turned around to see a human woman who was wearing a beautiful dress. On that dress were diamonds and pearls along with rubies and sapphires. She was flaunting it off the dogs. "Excuse me, boys. But I'll be leaving as well. I've already gotten a wonderful load of gems." Her Gothitelle was carrying a huge load of gems with Psychic. "You can't leave with all those gems!" Those are ours!" Rover exclaimed. "Hmm... don't care. Gothitelle used her Psychic to hold them all in place including Lycanroc and Sableye as they walked out of the cave with the gemstones. Back with Rarity, she was upset that the Lycanroc and Sableye were blocking her way to the motherload of gemstones. "Who do they think they are?! I've been searching for gems in this area before these worlds crossed over!" Rarity complained. "I'm sure they have a good reason for keeping us away. Maybe those gemstones are for them and they found it first." Fluttershy defended the two of them. "Fluttershy, darling. I love you. But you can't defend every Pokemon." Rarity said. "We can always try and be subtle about it, ya'll." Applejack suggested. "I'm not sure. I went over Midnight Lycanroc over the Pokepedia and found out that they can sniff out anyone from any distance. It's most likely that's how they knew we were coming." Twilight explained. "I think it's best if we try again another time." "Ugh! How could this get any worse?!" Rarity slammed her hoof on a wall, causing this part of the cave to rumble as tons of 100 years dirt dropped on her, dirtying her mane. Twilight and others backed away, terrified of what might happen next. Rarity's eye twitched as she felt like breaking something. But she didn't want anything to get out of hoof, so it was best to leave. Jewel watched Rarity almost about to throw a fit and all dirty. She shook her head, seeing the fancy pony be turned into a mess in the span of a few minutes. "How tragic. All it takes is one small thing to happen." "Gothitelle." "That's how it went. It wasn't as bad as it sounded," said Applejack, telling the truth on the story. Rarity made it sound like it was a disaster but really it wasn't. "But who are you? And how long have you been in there?" Spike said to Jewel. "Who am I? Hoho!" Jewel pulled out a fan, ready to show off her apparent dazzle. "I am the radiant and stunning Jewel. A Pokemon Fashion Empress." "Pokemon Fashion Empress?" Everyone said. All but Hollow didn't know about this rank. "Indeed. A ranking of a Pokemon Fashion Model that is so high...only the worthy can obtain it. Which is me. I've been travelling the world, seeking out gemstones of all kinds for my dresses. My Pokemon dazzle wonderfully in everything I collect. All my hard work eventually granted me the rank of Empress." "That's a fairly high rank indeed. Do we have an Empress in Equestria?" Fluttershy asked Celestia and Luna. "Not any that we know of. No." Celestia replied. "Don't worry. It's not on the same league as an actual Empress. One that runs an entire empire. But for me, the fashion business is my empire. Hoho! Now. I saw what happened back there and my... a bit of mess wouldn't you say?" "Whatever..." Rarity mumbled. "What are you all even doing here?" "We're here on a Fossil exploration!" A young pony yelled from the group, jumping up. "Fossils?! I've always wanted to know about Pokemon Fossils soon!" Twilight shouted. "What a lucky coincidence! So did you find any?!" "We got this one first." Hollow held the Sail Fossil in his hand. "Oooh....what's in it?" Twilight asked. "Amaura. According to what it was known as." Luna said walking forward. "Apparently, these fossils can be revived, bringing the Pokemon back to this world." "Through necromancy!?" Twilight gasped. "No. I thought the same thing too." Celestia replied. "There's also those ones that the Drilbur dug up." A young pony pointed his hoof at the rest of the fossils. "I recognize those fossils from the books. The Pokemon in them are..." Twilight was trying to remember which Pokemon were described to be in the fossils. "Cranidos, Lileep and Aerodactyl. Hah!" "So then what about this one?" Fluttershy picked up another fossil. It was the Jaw Fossil." "Oh. The Jaw Fossil. Inside there is a Tyrunt. This Fossil Pokemon kinda bit the dust faster than the others though." Hollow explained. "Aw. The poor thing." Fluttershy rubbed the Jaw Fossil. "I think we should bring this one back first." "Tyrunt back? Better be careful on that one. It is part Dragon." Jewel said. "In fact. I have something to show you all. I may be a gemstone hunter but I dabble in other forms of rocks. Such as rock sculptures. Example." Gothitelle used Psychic on Jewel's large bag of equipment. Inside it was what seemed to be a replica figure of Tyrunt. Almost looking lifelike. The children looked at this, seeing the replica as they gawked and gazed with oohs and aahs. "Is that what they look like? Pretty cool!" Sunrise went up to the figure. The other children went up to it to try and touch it, but something was off "Use Roar." Jewel suddenly said. All of a sudden, that supposed rock replica of Tyrunt was a farce. It was the real deal. And it let out a roar that scared the young fillies and colts, making them hide behind Celestia. "Oohoho! It's the real thing. A living Tyrunt. Here in this day of age." "IT'S ALIVE?!" Twilight and her friends shouted. "You'll have to forgive my wife. She does love startling others. Guess science isn't so boring if it can do this, huh Sunrise?" Hollow smirked looking to the shaking colt. "Wife? WIFE?!" Twilight exclaimed, looking at Jewel and Hollow. "Correct you are. My darling Hollow and I tend to explore the world in the same location most of the time. I remember when we first met. It was all the way back in the Hoenn Region when he arrived for the first time to continue his journey there. Ah. The way he looked so tired after a long walk there. And I was but a young girl curious about love." She lost herself in the memories. "Sounds to me like we've found your otherworld counterpart." Applejack whispered to Rarity. "Oh hush you." Fluttershy fluttered over to Tyrunt as the Royal Heir Pokemon looked up at her. "Oh my goodness. It's so fierce but adorable at the same time. Hello there, Tyrunt. My name is Fluttershy." "Ty?" Tyrunt had licked Fluttershy's hoof, growing fond of the pegasus. "Your skin is so hard. Like rocks." Fluttershy felt its rocky dragonic skin "Why did these things go extinct so easily actually?" Sapphire pulled out her dex. "Tyrunt. The Royal Heir Pokemon. This Pokémon was restored from a fossil. If something happens that it doesn’t like, it throws a tantrum and runs wild. Its immense jaws have enough destructive force that it can chew up an automobile. It lived 100 million years ago. Its large jaw has incredible destructive power. Some theories suggest that its restored form is different from its form of long ago. Tyrunt has been known to injure its companions by accident while trying to be playful." "Oh. That explains it." "Well, I think it's not a bad idea to be playful." Fluttershy petted Tyrunt. "Even if it did end up causing their extinction early." "Unless you're all done talking. I want to see this fossil revival." Luna wanted to see the revival more than anypony. "Right, right. We can head to the nearest gateway. It will take straight to Kalos at Ambrette Town." Jewel explained. "Hold it!" A familiar voice called to them. The Diamond Dogs had popped out of the cave, unhappy about all those gems being taken. "You're not leaving with our gems!" Rover yelled "Aren't those the Diamond Dogs?" Applejack spoke. "Ugh. These ruffians." Rarity groaned. "That's our property!" "I'm sorry but gemstones are free to anyone. Tough luck. Ohoho!" Jewel laughed. "T-That's not fair! You can't just come and take our gems! We saw them first!" Fido complained. "Well if you're going to throw a fit about it, at least dig for some new gems. Then you can claim them for your own. Then again, I might beat you to it next time. And I'll be doing the digging. It helps with my perfectly fit shape." Jewel showed off her fairly fit figure, showing that she digs like crazy despite how well she dresses. Rarity looked at Jewel and then back at herself. She felt that she needed to stay in shape as well. She's mostly been using Spike to dig for gems, not doing it herself anymore. "Ugh. Let's just go and revive this fossil before I start to lose it." "Before we get a move on. Diamond Dogs was it?" Celestia spoke to the dogs. "How would you like to have gems that aren't native to Equestria?" The dogs looked at each other and then back at Celestia. "Huh?" "If you think about it, if you dig for gemstones that are located in another land, uncharted lands even, you can claim all of those gemstones for yourselves. How does that sound?" "Hm. Huddle!" The Diamond Dogs huddled together, whispering to each other. They thought for it for a few seconds and realised the upside of this. If they head to a new unknown land, they won't have to deal with Rarity anymore. They'll be far away from her. "Deal!" "Glad we have that settled. Now let's see this Amaura." Kalos Region, Ambrette Town. "Ooh. It's real alright. A real Sail Fossil." A fossil scientist said as he was examining it. "I can revive to for you indeed. But it's gonna cost you." "Cost me? It didn't cost money the last time!" Jewel exclaimed. "Well considering how many trainers come along with fossils more often nowadays us scientists want to at least have something in return for all our hard work." "Ugh. Here." Jewel took a gemstone, lending it to him. "Gemstone? I'll take it!" The scientist took the gemstone as he placed the Sail Fossil inside the Fossil Incubator. "Watch the magic happen kids." "So there is magic involved?! It is necromancy?!" Celestia and Twilight gasped. "It's not necromancy." The scientist replied as the two of them let out a sigh of relief. "IT'S TECHNOMANCY!" The fossil's percentage was rising rapidly. Faster than most fossils. "Oh, that's interesting. This is much faster than the one that have been brought to us previously. It seems that this Sail Fossil has been taken good care of over the years." The fossil was at 63% as everypony leaned in, seeing that percentage rise up. Fluttershy, Twilight and Luna were getting giddy, ready to see this Pokemon emerge. 100%. In just 19 seconds flat. The fossil was glowing as bright light broke through the incubator, destroying it. Out of that light emerged the once small and beautiful Tundra Pokemon. Amaura. Fluttershy opened her eyes, seeing it in its glory as she instantly fell in love with it. "Oh my goodness! It's beautiful!" "It's perfect!" Luna said, having her Pokeball out and ready to catch it. "Wow..." Sapphire pulled out her Pokedex. "Amaura. The Tundra Pokemon. It lived in cold areas in ancient times. It’s said that when Amaura whinnies, auroras appear in the night sky. This calm Pokémon lived in a peaceful land where there were no violent predators like Tyrantrum. but it’s not expected to live long because of the heat of the current environment in present time." "I'll never say science is boring ever again..." Sunrise uttered. "Amau?" Amaura looked around, confused about its surroundings. It hasn't been free for 100 million years and it was a more timid Pokemon than its fellow Amaura's. "Amaura!" The Tundra Pokemon started freaking out as it was unleashing an Icy Wind everywhere, making the entire room cold. "C-C-Cold!" Celestia used a spell to make everyone else warm again. But Amaura was still panicking, even showing signs of crying. "Why is it going crazy?!" Jewel exclaimed. "I don't know! They don't normally do this!" The scientist ducked as Amaura frantically ran about. "Fluttershy! Calm it down or something!" Spike yelled. "Um. Okay!" Fluttershy flew over the frantic Tundra Pokemon, attempting to calm it down. "Amaura! Please calm down! It's okay!" Amaura stopped for a bit as it was a bit out of breath. It looked around and noticed that there was a Tyrunt here. A Pokemon that hunts it. This only scared Amaura more, making the Tundra Pokemon blast a hole in the building with Ancient Power. Amaura ran out of the building, screaming in terror. "Amaura! Wait!" Fluttershy flew out of the building. "Oh, dear. The poor thing is so scared." "Worry not. I know how to stop it." Luna grinned as she was holding the Pokeball, knowing what she's gonna do. "Luna. Don't try anything re-" Celestia's words were cut off as Luna dashed out of the building, chasing after Amaura. Amaura was running through Ambrette Town, not able to take all of this sudden heat. It turned around to see a determined Princess Luna chasing after her. "Amu? AMAURA!" "I've got you in my sights!" Luna launched the Pokeball with all her might as it hit Amaura's head fins, sending it in the Pokeball. "Yes! Come on..." 1...2... The Pokeball broke as Amaura shook its head, continuing to run. "Ugh! You shall be mine!" Luna got out another Pokeball, ready to launch it again. "Wait!" Fluttershy got in her way. "Why are you in the way, Fluttershy? I have a Pokemon to catch!" "Princess Luna. Can't you see that it's terrified? It doesn't know where it is and it can't take the heat. Please understand that now isn't the best time to catch it." Luna listened to Fluttershy as she saw how mortified Amaura was, running about the town. "Very well. I shall postpone catching it. For now." "Thank you." Fluttershy flew over to Amaura, attempting to try and stop it again. "Amaura please!" Amaura had stopped running as it was out of breath. Fluttershy fluttered over to the Tundra Pokemon, ready to place her hoof on its head. Amaura was shaking, afraid that Fluttershy might harm it. But to it's surprise, Fluttershy merely gave the Tundra Pokemon a gentle hug. "There there." Amaura had calmed down, catching its breath. It was feeling Fluttershy's warm hug. But this kind of warm hug wasn't harming it like the weather. "Amu..." "I know you're scared. I'd be scared and confused too if I was revived after 100 million years. But don't you worry. You're here now. And we'll get you somewhere cold and comfortable." "Amaura..." Celestia, Hollow and the others arrived, seeing how Fluttershy had calmed down Amaura finally. "Wonderful job, Fluttershy." said Celestia. "I must say, things could've been fairly destructive if this kept up." Jewel commented. "I suppose I shouldn't keep Tyrunt out right now." Jewel returned Tyrunt to its Pokeball. "Good. Now can I catch it?!" Luna grinned with a Pokeball out. "Luna." Celestia spoke to her sister in a disappointed tone. "Alright. I'll restrain myself. I just really enjoy catching Pokemon." Luna pouted. "Now. Let's get you somewhere safe." Amaura stood up, walking behind Fluttershy to feel safe. They had returned back to the other world, ending up back at the Rocky Area. "Today's lesson didn't go the way I thought it would." said a young unicorn. "That's what makes them fun!" A filly pegasus exclaimed. "I did enjoy myself for the time I was here. I hope to have another day off soon." Celestia laughed. "I think it's time we all got going. Today's lesson is over. I'll be seeing you all tommorow." Hollow said. "Scrafty!" "Okay, Mr Hollow!" "Hold on. Why didn't you mention anything about those sunglasses that your Scrafty has? Come to think of it, do Pokemon wear dresses too?" Twilight asked. "Oh, these? The reason I didn't say anything about the black sunglasses is because tomorrow's lesson is about items that increase the strength of certain moves." Hollow explained as they all pratfall as his Scrafty laughed. "I hope to find a nice cold place for your Amaura." Fluttershy petted Amaura. "I can find a nice place for it. With me." Luna grinned, winking at Amaura. "Princess Luna. If you're going to have Amaura, you must promise to take good care of her. She's a timid Pokemon and she needs time to adjust to this world. So please make sure that she's healthy and cold." "Uhh..." Luna looked over to Celestia who nodded her head in agreement with Fluttershy. "Alright fine. I promise." "Good. You'll be safe Amaura. Go on with Princess Luna." "Amaura." Amaura licked Fluttershy as she was going to miss her pony friend. Luna tossed the Pokeball as it sent Amaura inside once more. 1...2...3... Get! "Finally." Luna picked up the Pokeball. "That now makes 34 Pokemon in my collection. Huzzah!" "I still didn't get my gems..." Rarity sighed. Today was an odd day indeed. With the class and the others seeing a Fossil Pokemon be revived, meeting Hollow's wife and learning more about them along with the inclusion of Amaura in Luna's large collection of Pokemon, the journey continues. Chapter 90 End!
