My Little Pokémon

Dragon Trainer

Spike was in his bed, thinking deeply.

What was he thinking about?

Why Dragons of course. But not the dragons native to his land. The Dragon-Type. After learning of its existence in the Pokemon world, and hearing about a guy like Lance existing, he had to know more. So as a favor, Ash had decided that one day he'd make his first Pokemon a Dragon-Type Pokemon. And today was that day.

"I can't wait. I wonder what my first Dragon Pokemon is gonna be? I don't know any but they're obviously all super cool!"

He began imagining what he might get. A bulky one? A fast one? A strong one? Didn't matter. Dragons are all of the above anyways.

The door had opened, making Spike jump out of his bed. He thought it was Ash, here to show him where he's gonna get his first Pokemon. But it was just Twilight with Owlicious.

"Aw. Got my hopes up." He slumped back onto his bed.

"Still waiting for Ash to show up, Spike?"

"Yeah. I wanna catch a Dragon Pokemon already."

"Well, you're gonna have to wait a while. Ash is busy helping his mom. Family comes first after all."

So Spike waited. 2 hours to be exact until Ash finally came through those doors.

"Hey, Spike! I'm here!"

"Pi!"

"Finally!" Spike hopped off his bed, heading to Ash. "I've been waiting for this... Today's the day!"

"Yep. I'm as excited as you are?"

"So? What's my first Dragon-Type Pokemon gonna be? Wait! Don't tell me! I don't wanna know! But I do!"

"Slow down there pal. I do have your first Pokemon for you. In the form of this." Ash had shown in his hand, a Pokemon Egg.

"Oooh. It's inside the egg? Like your RIolu!"

"Mhm. I went over to the Village of the Dragons. That's where my friend Iris grew up. And the people there lent me an egg that they found in the Kalos Region. It's a guaranteed Dragon-Type so you're gonna have to wait and see which one it is." Spike grabbed the egg, holding it close to him.

It reminded Twilight of when she first met Spike. He was also a dragon in an egg. So history was repeating itself here.

"I'll take good care of this egg. And it'll for sure grow into the best dragon there is!"

Just then, Fluttershy busted in once she heard the egg. Did she somehow hear it all the way from her cottage?

"Did somepony say egg?" She said with glee in her eyes.

"Uh yeah. This egg that Ash gave me has a Dragon-Type Pokemon in it apparently." Spike explained.

"Another baby dragon! Oh, I'm so excited! When will it hatch? Is it going to hatch now."

"Okay, Fluttershy. I think you need to calm down a bit." Twilight said.

"Sorry. I get a bit excited about anything Pokemon related." Fluttershy blushed.

"Alright, Spike. I'll leave you to it. Me and Pikachu gotta go and help Hollow. See ya!"

"Pika!"

Once the two of them left, it was all up to Spike. Along with the help of Twilight and Fluttershy. Mostly Fluttershy.

"Okay, so. What did Ash do last time he hatched his egg?" Spike said, examining the egg.

"Well for him, it hatched due to the Aura waves the two of them were emitting. I don't think you have the same thing, Spike," said Twilight.

"I'm sure it'll hatch naturally. Just give it time." Fluttershy commented.

"Well I'm gonna have a walk with it. I'll be like a father to it." Spike carried the egg with him, heading outside to lively Ponyville. He did have one fear though. That the egg would break if there were too many ponies or even Pokemon around, so he kept a close eye on everything.

Spike examined the egg, looking at the color patterns. It had purple, pink and green spots on it. He couldn't think of any Pokemon with that currently. If Ash's Riolu had his egg be nothing but blue spots then the dragon inside here shares the same coloring as its egg patterns.

Spike sat down near a bench, holding the egg as the CMC passed by.

"Oooh. Watcha got there Spike?" Scootaloo asked.

"Oh this? This is a Pokemon Egg. Especially for me."

"A Pokemon Egg?!" They all said unison.

"Mhm. Inside this egg, is a guaranteed Dragon-Type. And I can't wait for it to hatch so I can see what it is!"

"Oh, I want a Pokemon egg." Sweetie Belle gushed.

"Where can we get one?" Apple Bloom leaned in.

"Well uhh... I don't think they're that easy to find. This was just given to me after all."

"Aww..." They said.

"Well, I hope I get an egg too someday. I wonder what Pokemon would be in it?" Scootaloo imagined.

"By the way, Spike. Which Dragon-Type is in there?" Sweetie Belle asked.

"See, I don't know. It could be any Dragon-Type really. It could be-"

"An Applin? My home is full of Dragon-Types, ya know." Apple Bloom pointed out.

"What?! No way! I'm pretty sure it's something much cooler than some wyrm in an apple. It's gonna be huge! No doubt about it!"

"Well, when's it gonna hatch?" Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle both asked.

"No idea. Just gotta wait."

"You wanna know how to hatch an egg, boy?" A voice called out to him. A man sitting near a building, relaxing there.

"Yeah? You know how I can do that?"

"Of course. Just walk." He explained in a few words.

"Just walk?" Spike and the CMC uttered.

"Pokemon eggs hatch faster if you take them for a walk. Tell me, boy. How long have you been walking with that egg?"

"Uhh. I walked the distance from Golden Oak Library to here. So... for 7 minutes."

"7 minutes huh? You'll need 3 more minutes. 10 minutes is the most common time when eggs hatch."

"How do you know all of this, mister?" Apple Bloom asked.

"I'm from the Johto Region. We know a lot about our eggs. So if you want to hatch that egg as fast as you can, better keep moving along."

"We'll walk with you, Spike! We wanna see this egg hatch!" Scootaloo exclaimed. Secretly, Fluttershy was watching from afar, waiting for the egg to hatch as well.

3 minutes had passed exactly with them walking. And it was just as the guy said. The egg was starting to crack as Spike pulled back.

"OH! It's happening!" He exclaimed. The CMC moved forward and Fluttershy flew in, looking at it as well. The egg emitted a pink and purple light as it spread across the sky. A blinding flash occurred as it had finally hatched into...

Goomy.

The Soft Tissue Pokemon.

Spike was bewildered. This was the Dragon-Type? It looked nothing like a dragon. If anything. It was just a slime.

"So... is this the Dragon Pokemon or..." Scootaloo chattered.

"W-What is this?!" Spike yelled.

"It's adorable that's what it is!" Fluttershy responded.

"When did you get here?" Sweetie Belle asked.

"There has to be some sort of mistake. There's no way this is a dragon. Look at it!" Spike couldn't accept Goomy as a dragon. "Where's Rainbow Dash? Her Pokedex can easily tell us what it really is!"

"You seem pretty neglectful of it being a Dragon-Type, Spike," said Fluttershy.

"It's just a slime though." He slumped down on the ground.

"Well, Pokemon are unpredictable you know. There are some Pokemon that don't appear to be the type that you think they are. Like for example. Lurantis appears to be a mantis-like Pokemon but in reality, it's a pure Grass-Type Pokemon."

"Oh, she does raise a good point," Scootaloo said as the other crusaders agreed.

Goomy was confused itself. It didn't know where it was. It looked at Spike with a puzzled look. Then it moved slowly over to its trainer, hugging it with its non-existent arms. Spike could feel the slime crawl up on him. Goomy are infamous for having extremely disgusting slime. They have the slimy membrane to gain protection and keeping others away. But it was the other way around here.

Spike had to keep Goomy. It was his Pokemon after all. He sighed as the Soft Tissue Pokemon kept on hugging him with its body.

"Cheer up, Spike. I'm sure it'll evolve into a strong dragon." Fluttershy said to him.

"I hope so."

"How about putting it in a battle? Then you can see how good it might be as a dragon. I'll gladly battle you." Scootaloo vouched.

"I guess so... Maybe it's super strong and I don't know."

"Goo?"

"Then it's settled. Ponyta and I are obviously stronger than a newborn. So let's see what it can do." Scootaloo had sent out her Ponyta.

Spike had sent his Goomy forward, who was unsure of itself.

"You ready?" Scootaloo grinned with her Ponyta's mane intensifying, showing that it as well was ready.

"Uh, ready."

"Then in that case... Ponyta! Flame Charge!" Ponyta's body was enveloped in flames as it was ready to charge at Goomy.

"Goomy! Do something!" Spike commanded, not knowing the moves. Goomy used a move that it did know. Absorb. It drained Ponyta of its energy. But it was very little. The little dragon was knocked back by a charging Ponyta as it went down in one hit. Fainting. "Seriously?!"

"Whoops. Guess I should've expected that it wouldn't be that tough the moment it was born. My bad!"

"Pony.." Ponyta sighed.

Fluttershy picked up Goomy, ready to heal it.

"Oh well. It'll get stronger in the future, Spike. Don't you worry." The shy Pegasi said.

"Who knows how long that'll take. I'm not sure I want this Pokemon anymore."

Fluttershy gasped at what he said, having her normally happy and calm face shifted into an angered one.

"Spike! How dare you!" She yelled at him as he was quaking. "You can't neglect a Pokemon like that! Let alone one that was just born! Twilight didn't neglect you when you hatched, and you shouldn't do the same to this little one either!" Fluttershy was letting him have it. Fluttershy had never been this mad before. Even the CMC were shaking uncontrollably, along with Ponyta who huddled up to Scootaloo since it was feeling terrified of Fluttershy.

"A-Alright! I'm sorry! I didn't mean it!" Spike pleaded, not wanting to feel the wrath of Fluttershy. Spike then walked up to Goomy with an angered Fluttershy crossing her hooves, watching him. "Uh, little guy. Whatever your name is."

"Goomy." The Pokemon replied.

"Goomy huh? Well, Goomy. Sorry that I almost kinda ditched you. That would make me a horrible trainer."

Goomy looked up at Spike, glomping onto his face with joy. Spike sighed as the slime kept oozing on his face.

Later that day, Ash and Pikachu had returned from Canterlot.

"Alright. Let's see if it's hatched." He said, entering Golden Oak Library.

"Welcome back, Ash. It hatched alright. Into... slime." Twilight explained.

"Slime? Oh, I think I know what Pokemon that might be." Ash peered his eyes over as he saw the Pokemon he thought it would be. A Goomy. "Yep. It's a Goomy. And they're just as small and slimy as ever."

"Pika-Pikachu!"

"Yeah. This is my Pokemon." Spike said with Goomy on his head. He let out a sigh of disappointment.

"You don't sound very enthusiastic about hatching it though."

"Pika."

"It's just that... It wasn't what I was expecting. I wanted something strong and tough... not this."

"That doesn't matter, Spike."

"It doesn't?"

"Nope. Weak Pokemon. Strong Pokemon. It doesn't matter. Every Pokemon is special in their own way. Besides, Goomy here evolves into one of the best Dragon-Types you'll ever know."

"Really? It does?" Spike looked up at Goomy.

"Mhm. You'll see. Keep spending time with Goomy and it'll become a Pokemon you're proud of."

"Pikachu!"

"Wise words as always, Ash," Twilight said. "You should write a book with all of your quotes you know."

"Oh, thanks Twilight. So Spike. Think you can bond with Goomy?"

Spike looked at Goomy as the little slimy dragon looked back at him. Spike smiled at it as it smiled back. He had come to understand Goomy a bit. It's a timid Pokemon that only wants to make friends. Almost parallel to that of Spike himself.

"Yeah. I will. And we'll both get stronger together. Won't we Goomy?"

"Goomy!"

"That's more like it." Fluttershy appeared behind Spike without warning, making him jump.

"AH! Fluttershy?!" Spike yelled.

"I'm glad that you've come to understand and appreciate Goomy. And you did relatively early."

"When did she get here?" Twilight said.

"Thanks, Fluttershy. You're not gonna yell at me anymore are you?"

"No, Spike. Unless you deny your Pokemon again." She giggled with a happy face, sending chills down Spike.

"So Spike. Now that you have your own Dragon Pokemon. I got a sweet recommendation for you." Ash said.

"What is it, Ash?"

"A Dragon Trainer. Trainers who use Dragon-Type Pokemon are always classified as that."

"Me? A Dragon Trainer?" A wide smile erupted on his face.

"Yeah! And once you train your Goomy up, you can go and train other dragons too. Though Dragon Trainers have a tougher time than most other trainer classes."

"That doesn't matter to me! I'll keep training with Goomy and eventually I'll be tough enough to train other dragons!"

"Goo!"

"That's the spirit!"

"PIKA!"

A new member has been added to the group. A small and timid but potentially powerful Pokemon. As Pokemon find Ponies that they like, the same goes for other species. No one is left out when Pokemon are involved.
